  • The purpose of this study was to observe characteristic properties of amalgam through the polarization curves and SEM images from 4 type amalgams (Amalcap, Shofu spherical. Dispersalloy and Tytin) with 3 different surface finish procedures (polishing, burnishing and carving) by using the potentiostats (EG & GPARC) and SEM (Jeol JSM-35). After each amalgam alloy and Hg was triturated as the direction of the manufacturer by means of mechanical amalgamator (Samki), the triturated mass was inserted into the cylndrical metal mold which was 12 mm in diameter and 10 mm in height and was pressed with $100kg/cm^2$. 4 specimens of each type amalgam were burnished with egg burnisher and another 4 specimens of each type amalgam were carved with Hollenback carver. Above 8 specimens and remaining untreated 4 specimens were stored at room temperature for about 7 days. Untreated 4 specimens of each type amalgam were polished with abrasive papers (Deer) from #400 to #1200 and finally on the polishing cloth with $0.5{\mu}m$ and $0.06{\mu}m$ $Al_2O_3 $ powder suspended water. Anodic polarization measurements was employed to compare the corrosion behaviours of the amalgams in 0.9% saline solution at $37^{\circ}C$. The open circuit potential was determined after 30 minutes immersion of specimen in electrolyte. The scan rate was 1 mV/sec and the surface area of amalgam exposed to the solution was $0.64cm^2$ for each specimen. All the potentials reported are with respect to a saturated calomel electrode (SCE). SEM images of each specimen were taken after + 800 mV (SCE) polarization. The results were as follows: 1. The corrosion potential of high copper amalgam was more anodic than that of low copper amalgam. 2. The polished amalgam were more resistant to corrosion than any other burnished and carved amalgam. 3. In the case of polishing, current density of high copper amalgam was lower than that of low copper amalgam.

  • In this study, the flow analyses around according to the existence or non- existence of the trailer's deflector and the shapes were carried out. In the absence of a deflector, the kinetic energy of the turbulence behind the container also generates higher kinetic energy in a wider area than in the presence of a deflector, which adversely affects the vehicle's driving performance. As a trailer's wind deflector-free model has unstable flow rates around the trailer and high kinetic energy of turbulence than a model with a deflector, it can be thought that the increase of fuel economy can be expected by installing a deflector in the trailer. By applying the study result on flow analysis near trailer due to shape of wind deflector, this study is seen to be suitable for the aesthetic convergence.

  • In this study, the thermal and stress analyses were performed by applying a temperature condition of 100℃ at CPU cooler model. The value of heat flux value is shown to be the most at the lower rod area. The upper part becomes, the smaller the heat flow rate. The highest temperature is shown at the bottom of the CPU cooler model. Overall, the upper part becomes, the smaller the temperature becomes. Based on the temperature analysis, the thermal deformation caused by expansion, the deformation becomes smaller as the upper part of the overlapping plates. The great deformation happens at the bent area of the small rod as the lower part of model and the least deformation is shown at the lowest floor of model. In addition, the maximum thermal stress of 570.63 MPa happens at the floor below model. The stress is shown to decrease as the upper part of the overlapping plates becomes. But the stress is shown to increase somewhat at the middle part of model. By applying the study result on the thermal and stress analyses of CPU cooler, this study is seen to be suitable for the aesthetic convergence.

  • The flow analyses in this study were executed on the three washing machine models with the rotors like real shapes. On the pressures and speeds for the left, right and bottom planes of rotors, model C was generally found to have the greatest pressure on the flow, more than twice as much as model A, and in order of model B and model A. At the streamline velocities of flow on the side of the rotating blades of models A, B and C, model C had the greatest rate of flow overall, which was 1.7 times higher than model A, followed by model B and model A. In case of model C, the number of blades is smaller than model A or model B, but the thickness of lower rotor becomes thicker. It can be seen that model C improves the washing performance due to the high flow pressure and high flow rate. Also, it is seen that this study is adequate at the efficient design with durability of the washing machine rotor practically and the aesthetic convergence of the rotor.

  • In this study, the deformation and stress on each model was analyzed and the strength was compared with each other when the impacts on a total of four smart phone models was given. Models B and D with cases can be seen to have less deformation and stress than models A and C without cases. The models including the case have higher masses than the models without the case. So, the deformation and stress can be reduced by absorbing the impact force. In addition, the masses of models C and D are smaller than models A and B, but the stresses and deformations are seen to be smaller. If a case specialized for edge protection is chosen and designed when manufacturing a smart-phone in order to absorb the shock while weighing less, it is thought to improve the strength of the smart-phone and increase the durability. And it is seen that this study is adequate at the efficient design with durability of smart phone case practically and the aesthetic convergence of smart phone.

  • PURPOSE. This study was aimed to determine the effect of two chemically distinct denture cleansers and water on the surface hardness of acrylic and silicone based soft denture liners at various time intervals. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Two commonly used commercial resilient liner material were selected based on their chemical composition (silicone- and acrylic-based soft liners) for this investigation. 120 cylindrical specimens were made of $15mm{\times}10mm$ dimensions (according to ASTM: D-2240-64T) in a custom made metal mold. All specimens were stored in artificial saliva throughout the study. Forty specimens were cleansed daily in 0.5% sodium hypochlorite solution; forty were cleansed in sodium perborate and remaining forty specimens were daily rinsed in water. Testing was done at 1 week, 1 month, 3 months and 6 months for surface hardness using a Shore A Durometer. A mean of 3 reading for each sample was subjected to one-way ANOVA, Post Hoc test and pair-t test for statistical analysis. P values of less than 0.05 were taken as statistically significant. RESULTS. Surface hardness of all the samples was significantly higher after a period of 6 months irrespective of the cleansing treatment. Minor changes were observed between control, sodium hypochlorite and sodium perborate groups with time. Greater change was observed in surface hardness of acrylic-based soft denture liners as compared to silicone-based soft liners for all groups, as time progressed. CONCLUSION. Silicone-based soft denture liners performed significantly better in all cleansing treatments than acrylic-based soft denture liners.

  • In this study, the durability on heat was considered through the thermal stress analyses on models A, B, and C of laptops. Model A is an integral part, indicating that the heated keyboard showed the highest temperature and the monitor part far from the heated one showed the coldest. In models B and C, only the heated keyboard parts are modeled, so it can be seen that they get hot overall. In the case of model A, the thickness of the laptop keyboard was thicker, but there were the most deformations, while model C had the thinnest thickness with the smallest stress and deformation. Model B had the highest stress but relatively little deformation. It is considered that the result of thermal analysis in this study can be used to make the latest efficient design of durable laptop. The durability of laptop against the heat can be evaluated by applying this study result to the laptop. And it is seen that the result can be the design of laptop with strength and the aesthetic convergence.

  • In this study, the thermal analysis on the brake disc of electric kickboard was analyzed. The different heat is transmitted depending on the pad contact surface of brake disc. The trend that the temperature decreases at the part away from the contact surface was almost constant. And model A showed a slightly lower temperature distribution than model B. Model A has a maximum equivalent stress of 7% higher than model B. By being applied with the higher heat transfer above the contact surface, it is thought that model B has a greater strength than model A if the design takes into account the corner of the brake disc. If this study result is utilized to the design of electric kickboard, the design of brake disc with better strength is considered to be established. The durability of brake against the heat can be evaluated by applying this study result to the brake disc of electric kickboard. And it is seen that the result can be the design of brake with strength and the aesthetic convergence.

  • To repair the underside of the car, a repairman has to enter under the car body. But this work can make it difficult for him to fix it and the injuries can occur. To solve these difficult problems, the developed equipment is the automotive lift. In this study, three kinds of lift models 1, 2 and 3 were designed and the material properties of the structural steel were applied. As the same load were applied under the same conditions on all models, the structural analyses were conducted. Models 2 and 3 were shown to have the structural deformation less than model 1. Also, models 2 and 3 were shown to be more stable than model 1 structurally. By utilizing the design data on a convergence research through durability analysis according to the configuration of automotive lift obtained on the basis of this result, the esthetic feeling can be shown by being converged onto the automotive repair equipment parts at actual life.
