알루미늄 원통컵의 스피닝 성형성에 영향미치는 작업조건 연구 (Influence of Working Conditions on the Spinnability of Cylindrical Cups of Aluminum Sheet Metal)

  • Many researchers have, nowadays, studied on spinning which can produce highly qualified products by CNC spinning machine equipped with hydraulic devices. The products have continuous metal flow which improves fatigue life, yield point, tensile strength and hardness. This study is to investigate the influence of various working conditions on the spinnability of cylindrical cups such as feed rate(ν), feed pitch(p), angle of roller holder(α), and the inclination angle of first roller path. Through experiments the feed rate of (0.4∼0.7) mm/rev was shown to give the drawing ratio of 2.5 when the angle of roller holder was 5°, However, by increasing the angle of roller holder from 5°to 20°, the range of feed rate which can produce deeper cups became wider and the spinnability was also improved. The optimum working conditions, for the maximum formability of aluminum sheet metal as well as dimensional accuracy of spun cups, are presented and discussed.

DPF 재생용 버너의 엔진 배기 중에서의 화염 안정성 구현을 위한 기초 연구 (Basic Study on the Flame Stability of Burner for Regeneration of Diesel Particulate Filter in Engine Exhaust Gas)

  • Sustaining of flame stability of the burner installed in Dielsel exhaust pipe is very difficult because of steep fluctuation of pressure and flow rate. A burner for DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) which clogged by collected soot regeneration has been made of metal fiber for the purpose of realization of flame stability even in unfavorable condition of Diesel engine exhaust. Flame stability of the metal fiber burner has been investigated in various condition of engine operation. It has been identified that metal fiber burner with liner which has swirl guide vane presents excellent flame stability even in the higher engine revolutions than 3000rpm and sudden variation. The results offer the possibility of development of full flow burner system for DPF regeneration.

금속 폼 유로가 고분자전해질 연료전지 성능에 미치는 영향 (Metal Foam Flow Field Effect on PEMFC Performance)

  • 고분자전해질 연료전지에서 분리판 유로 형상은 유체 공급과 물 및 열 확산, 접촉 저항 등에 영향을 주는 중요한 요소이다. 본 연구에서는 25 cm2 단위 전지를 이용하여 공기극에 구리폼을 적용한 분리판을 이용하여 연료전지 성능 평가를 수행하였다. 압력과 상대습도 조건에 대한 영향을 분극 곡선과 전기화학적 임피던스 분광법을 이용하여 분석하였다. 구리폼의 ohmic 저항이 높아 사형유로형상 보다 연료전지 성능은 낮았지만, 다공성 구조로 인한 균일한 연료 분포로 활성화 손실과 물질전달 손실이 적은 것을 확인하였다. 구리폼의 소수성이 높아 물 배출이 유리한 장점이 있지만, 저가습 조건에서는 사형유로에 비하여 전해질막 수화도가 낮은 것을 확인하였다. 다공성 금속 분리판은 균일한 압력 분포와 효과적인 수분 배출로 연료전지 성능을 개선할 수 있을 것으로 판단되며, 저항을 최소화할 수 있도록 금속폼의 물성에 대한 연구가 수행되어야 할 것이다.

Metal Hydride Chemical Heat Pump의 최적 작동조건에 관한 연구 (Optimum Operating Conditions of Metal Hydride Chemical Heat Pump)

  • Prototype metal hydride chemical heat pump was constructed using $LaNi_{4.7}Al_{0.3}$ for high temperature hydride and $MmNi_{4.15}Fe_{0.65}Al_{0.2}$ for low temperature hydride, and the effects of operating conditions on the performace of heat pump were investigaed to find out the optimum operating condition. Operating variables considered in this work were cycling time, temperature of hot air blown to the high temperature reactor, the amount of hydrogen gas with which the system was charged initially, and the flow rate of air at both reactors. Power of heat pump increases monotonically as $T_h$ increases, and shows maxima at 4.8H/M and 15-25 min in $H_2$ charged and cycling time respectively. Power of heat pump increases as air flow rate increases at low flow rate, but saturates to some value confined by heat flow rate through the hydride bed, These all phenomena can be explained by the modified power equation.

주조유동 시뮬레이션에서 자유경계면 추적 기법 비교 연구 (A Comparative Study of Interface Reconstruction Algorithms in The Molten Metal Flow)

  • We applied two numerical schemes to improve accuracy of the solution in the flow simulation of molten metal. One method is Piecewise Linear Interface Calculation (PLIC) method and the other is Donor-Acceptor (D-A) method. In the present work, we have tested simple problems to verify the module of the interface reconstruction algorithms. After validations, accuracy and efficiency of these two methods have compared by simulating various real products. On the numerical simulation of free surface flow, it is possible for PLIC method to track very accurately the interface between phases. PLIC method, however, has the weak point where a lot of computational time hangs, though it shows the more accurate interface reconstruction. Donor-Acceptor method has enough effectiveness in the macro observation of mold filling sequence though it shows the inferior accuracy.

  • The quality requirements for metal forming products have become more strict. Machined parts, which could be produced only by cutting, can now be formed plastically. In order to reach the mechanical strength and geometrical accuracy, reasonable production technologies should be developed. In this presentation, some basic flow-press-technologies in the metal forming are introduced. Some real sample parts for a passenger can are shown and their forming plans are explained. Also problems and solutions for the production of bevel gears are discussed.

  • The Variation of die bearing is primary way to control the metal flow in hot square die extrusion process. Finite element computations are carried out to assess the influence of die bearing on metal flow and state variables. The finit element method is developed based on ALE description for a rigid-viscoplastic material. Since thermal state computational example, hot square die extrusion with varied die bearing lengths has been analyzed for the profile of a L-section.

  • This paper presents the MHD characteristics of the liquid metal flow. The electromagnetic force was calculated by the equivalent circuit method. This Lorentz force was used as a source term for the fluid flow equations. The modified Navier-Stokes equation was solved to give the velocity distributions of the liquid metal flow.

  • In this paper, the metal forming process is caused of rise of the unit cost of production in increase of the lead-time and cost because of manufacturing final product through a few the number of processes. Flow control complex forming is proposed to put into formulation in order to apply cold forging from conventional approximate similarity theory, and the forming loads of the real material(AISI 1008) can be calculated by put at the new similarity formula the load by plasticine model material experiment through hub clutch. In order to reduce lead-time and cost the technology is used to manufacture with lower die of this product. By the application synthetic resin as the raw material, it is have the merit such short lead-time, low cost, good surface finish etc., as compared with the machine work.

  • A finite element model is developed for the process of squeeze casting of metal matrix composites. The fluid flow and the heat transfer are fundamental phenomena in squeeze casting. The equations for the clear fluid flow and the flow in porous media are used to simulate the transient metal flow. To describe heat transfer in the solidification of molten aluminum, the energy equation is written in terms of temperature and enthalpy. A direct iteration technique is used to solve the resulting nonlinear algebraic equations. The cooling curves and temperature distribution during infiltration and solidification were calculated for a simplified model with pure aluminum. The developed program can be used for squeeze casting process of complex geometry, boundary conditions and processing parameter optimization.
