Catalytic hydrodechlorination of PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls) included in the transformer oil was carried out to detoxify PCBs and to recycle the treated oil. Catalysts such as 0.98 wt% Pt and 0.79 wt% Pd on ${\gamma}$-alumina (${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$) support, 12.8 wt% Ni on ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$, and 57.6 wt% Ni on silica-alumina ($SiO_2-Al_2O_3$) support were used for the catalytic hydrodechlorination. Various supercritical fluids such as carbon dioxide, propane and isobutane were used as reaction media. The effects of reaction temperature, reaction time, catalysts, and supercritical fluids on the catalytic hydrodechlorination were examined in detail. The detoxification degree increased in the order of Ni > Pd > Pt. This is possibly due to higher metal loading and larger metal size of the Ni catalyst. Below $175^{\circ}C,\;scCO_2$ was found as the most effective reaction media for the catalytic hydrodechlorination of PCBs included in the transformer oil.

In response to environmental demands, pyrolysis is one of the practical methods for obtaining reusable oils from waste plastics. However, the waste plastic pyrolysis oils (WPPO) are consumed as low-grade fuel oil due to their impurities. Thus, this study focused on the upgrading method to obtain naphtha catalytic cracking feedstocks from WPPO by the hydroprocessing, including hydrotreating and hydrocracking reaction. Especially, various transition metal sulfides supported catalysts were investigated as hydrotreating and hydrocracking catalysts. The catalytic performance was evaluated with a 250 ml-batch reactor at 370~400 ℃ and 6.0 MPa H2. Sulfur-, nitrogen-, and chlorine-compounds in WPPO were well eliminated with nickel-molybdenum/alumina catalysts. The NiMo/ZSM-5 catalyst has the highest naphtha yield.

The policy-making and technological development of eco-friendly automobiles designed to increase their supply is ongoing, but the internal combustion engine still accounts for about 95% of the automobiles in use. Also, in order to meet the stricter emission regulations of internal combustion engines based on fossil fuels, the proportion of after-treatments for vehicles and (ocean going) vessels is gradually increasing. Natural gas is a clean fuel that emits few air pollutants and has been used mainly as a fuel for city buses. In the long term, we intend to develop a new NGOC/LNT+NGCO/SCR combined system that simultaneously reduces the toxic gases, $CH_4$ and NOx, emitted from CNG buses. The objective of this study is to investigate the characteristics of $de-CH_4/NOx$ according to the ceramic and metal substrates of the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) catalysts mounted downstream of the combined system. The V and Cu-SCR catalysts did not affect the $CH_4$ oxidation reaction, the two NGOC/SCR catalysts each coated with two layers began to oxidize $CH_4$ at $400^{\circ}C$, and the amount of $CH_4$ emitted was reduced to about 20% of its initial value at about $550^{\circ}C$. The two NGOC/SCR catalysts each coated with two layers showed a negative (-) NOx conversion rate above $350^{\circ}C$. The ceramic-based combined system reached LOT50 at $500^{\circ}C$, which was about 20% higher in terms of the $CH_4$ conversion rate than the metal-based combined system, showing that the combined system of NGOC/LNT+Cu-SCR is a suitable combination.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of different abutment materials on abutment screw loosening and settling-down effect in conical connection type implant system. Materials and methods: Three types of abutment, cementation, gold UCLA, and metal UCLA abutment were used. Two UCLA groups were fabricated in a similar pattern to cementation abutment. Type III gold alloy and Nickel-Chromium alloy was used for casting gold UCLA abutment and metal UCLA abutment, respectively. Fixture and abutment were tightened to 30 Ncm by using digital torque controller and re-tightening was conducted with same force after 10 minutes. Digital torque gauge was used to measure loosening torque and fixture/abutment length was measured by digital micrometer. Dynamic loads between 25 N and 250 N were applied with $0^{\circ}$ angle to the abutment axis. After loading, fixture/abutment length was re-measured and amount of settlement was calculated. Loosening torque value was also measured for comparison Results: All three groups showed significant differences of length when comparing before and after loading, but there was no significant difference of settling amount in all groups. Loosening torque values were significantly decreased when comparing before and after loading in all groups($P$<.05). However, there was no significant difference in loss of loosening torque values when compared to groups. Conclusion: In internal conical connection type implants, dynamic load affected on settlement and loosening torque of implant, but there was no differences between abutments materials. Likewise gold UCLA abutment, metal UCLA abutment might be able to withstand functional load.

The catalytic conversion of ethanol to aromatic compounds ETA was studied over ZSM-5 heterogeneous catalysts. The effect of reaction temperature, weight hourly space velocity (WHSV), and addition of water and methanol, which are the potential impurities of bio-ethanol, on the catalytic performance was investigated in a fixed bed reactor. Commercial ZSM-5 catalysts having different Si/$Al_2$ ratios of 23 to 280 and modified ZSM-5 catalysts by addition of metal (Zn, La, Cu, and Ga) were used for the activity and stability tests in ETA reaction. The catalysts were characterized with ammonia temperature programmed desorption ($NH_3$-TPD) and nitrogen adsorption-desorption techniques. The results of catalytic performance revealed that the optimal Si/$Al_2$ ratio of ZSM-5 is about 50~80 and the selectivity to aromatic compounds decreases in the order of Zn/La > Zn > La > Cu > Ga for the modified ZSM-5 catalysts. Among these catalysts from the ETA reaction, Zn-La/ZSM-5 showed the best catalytic performance for the ETA reaction. The selectivity to aromatic compounds was 72% initially and 56% after 30 h over the catalysts at reaction temperature of $437^{\circ}C$ and WHSV of $0.8h^{-1}$.

Hydrogen, a clean energy source free of COx emissions, is poised to replace fossil fuels, with its usage on the rise. Despite its high energy content per unit mass, hydrogen faces limitations in storage and transportation due to its low storage density and challenges in long-term storage. In contrast, ammonia offers a high storage capacity per unit volume and is relatively easy to liquefy, making it an attractive option for storing and transporting large volumes of hydrogen. While NH3 decomposition is an endothermic reaction, achieving excellent low-temperature catalytic activity is essential for process efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The study examined the effects of different zeolite types (5A, NaY, ZSM5) on NH3 decomposition activity, considering differences in pore structure, cations, and Si/Al-ratio. Notably, the 5A zeolite facilitated the high dispersion of Ni across the surface, inside pores, and within the structure. Its low Si/Al ratio contributed to abundant acidity, enhancing ammonia adsorption. Additionally, the presence of Na and Ca cations in the support created medium basic sites that improved N2 desorption rates. As a result, among the prepared catalysts, the 15 wt%Ni/5A catalyst exhibited the highest NH3 conversion and a high H2 formation rate of 23.5 mmol/gcat·min (30,000 mL/gcat·h, 600 ℃). This performance was attributed to the strong metal-support interaction and the enhancement of N2 desorption rates through the presence of medium basic sites.
Transition metal based spent catalysts (Ni-Mo and Co-Mo), which were scrapped from the petrochemical industry, were reused for the removal processes of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Especially the optimum regeneration procedures were determined using the removal efficiency of VOCs. In this work, the spent Ni-Mo and spent Co-Mo catalysts were pretreated with different physic-chemical treatment procedure: 1) acid aqueous solution, 2) alkali solution, 3) chemical agent and 4) steam. The various characterization methods of spent and its regenerated catalysts were performed using nitrogen adsorption, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) equipped with an energy dispersive spectrometry (EDS). It was found that all spent catalysts were found to be potentially applicable catalysts for catalytic oxidation of benzene. The experimental results also indicated that among the employed physico-chemical pretreatment methods, the oxalic acid aqueous (0.1 N, $C_2H_2O_4$) pretreatment appeared to be the most efficient in increasing the catalytic activity, although the catalytic activity of spent Ni-Mo and spent Co-Mo catalysts in the oxidation of benzene were greatly dependent on the pretreatment conditions. The pretreated spent catalysts at optimum condition could be also applied for removing other aromatic compounds (Toluene/Xylene).

Due to environmental pollution, hazards of the human body, and global warning, changes in the power train of automobiles are intensifying, and the market forelectronic vehicles is rising. Also, in order to meet the stricter emission regulations forautomobiles with internal combustion engines based on fossil fuel, the proportion of after-treatments for vehicles and vessels is increasing gradually. The objective of this study is to investigate the effectsfrom additive ceric oxide ($CeO_2$) loading amounts to improve the methane ($CH_4$) and nitric oxide (NOx) abatement ability of the natural gas oxidation catalysts(NGOC) reducing toxic gases emitted from compressed natural gas (CNG) buses. Three kinds of NGOC were prepared under the following conditions: fresh and $700^{\circ}C$ for 12hr thermal aging, and the reduction performance of toxic gases was evaluated. Fresh $1Pt-3Pd-1Rh-3MgO-6CeO_2/(Al+Z)$ NGOC containing 6wt% $CeO_2$ had the highest dispersivity of palladium (Pd) with high selectivity to $CH_4$ and improved harmful gas reduction performance. The NGOC with 6wt% $CeO_2$ loaded the least decreased in the dispersivity of the noble metal, and showed the highest reduction of harmful gases due to the thermal durability of $CeO_2$.
A basic objective is the preparation and surface studies of supported molten salt catalysts because molten salts can stay as the liquid phase in the range of the ordinary reaction temperature. Many kinds of metal salt mixtures for the formation of molten salt phase are appliable but CuCl and KCl were selected in this study because Cu is considered catalytically reactive in many reactons. The loading of the molten salt was selected as 25 vol% of the total pore volume of ${\gamma}-alumina$ to provide reasonable exposed surface area. The surface structure of catalysts containing molten salts in the ${\gamma}-alumina$ was studied using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). CuCl and KCl were added into the ${\gamma}-alumina$ using concentrated hydrochloric acid solution by the impregnation technique. The surfaces of the prepared catalysts before and after heat treatments were compared and they suggested that the heat treatment of catalysts helped the formation of molten-salt although the surface compositions of CuCl and KCl were not uniform.
The catalytic oxidations of several olefins in $CH_2Cl_2$ have been investigated using non-redox metalloporphyrin (M=Ga(III), In(III), Tl(III)) complexes as catalyst and sodium hypochlorite as terminal oxidant. Porphyrins were $(p-CH_3O)TPP,\;(p-CH_3)TPP,\;TPP,\;(p-F)TPP,\;(p-Cl)TPP\;and\;(F_20)TPP$ (TPP=tetraphenylporphyrin), and olefins were $(p-CH_3O)-,\;(p-CH_3)-,\;(p-H)-,\;(p-F)-,\;(p-Cl)-\;and\;(p-Br)styrene$styrene and cyclopentene and cyclohexene. The substrate conversion yield was discussed according to the substituent effects of metalloporphyrin and substrate, and the radius effect of non-redox metal ion. The conversion yield of substrate by changing the substituent of TPP increased in the order of $p-CH_3O$ < $p-CH_3$ < H < p-F < p-Cl, which was consistent with the sequence of $4{\sigma}$ values of TPP. But the substituent effect of substrate on the conversion yield decreased with increasing the ${\sigma}^+$ values on substrates in the order of p-CH3O > p-CH3 > H > p-Cl > p-Br. For the oxidation of several olefins, the complexes of In(III)- and Tl(III)-porphyrins turned out to be more active catalysts than Ga(III)-porphyrin.
