Objectives : It is considered not easy to diagnose the condition of acupoints or meridians. Oriental Medical instruments have rarely complied with Oriental Medical diagnostic/therapeutic theories. The aim of this study was to develop a system which measures meridian electric potential(MEP) in proportion to bio-electric charge for the purpose of Oriental Medical diagnosis. Method : To evaluate a meridian energy measurement system(MEMS), we carried out a performance test. For significance test, we conducted a clinical trial which measured the MEP of ST36(Chok-samni) on Stomach Meridian(ST). Results & Conclusions : We could evaluate the balance or the imbalance of the MEPs on the left/right ST36. Also, through the comparison of MEPs before and after meals, we could identify the correlation between the MEP and the condition of internal organs. Namely, MEP reflects the condition of acupoints/meridians and internal organs, therefore, we propose this new method for measuring and analyzing the condition of meridians and acupoints for Oriental Medical diagnosis.

Objectives : The aim of this study is evaluation for significance of skin meridian-acupoints energy measurement system, and is verification of principle to measure the bio-ion charge on acupoints. Methods : To check a correlation between the MEP(Meridian Energy Potential) and bio-electric charge condition, ten acupoints(left/right BL meridian : BL13, BL15, BL18, BL20, BL23) were chosen. Based on basic theory concerning the upward trend of the bio-electric charge by cupping therapy, we measured MEP change before and after 600mmHg(80kPa) Negative pressure stimulation using cupping. Results : We could identify the correlation between MEP and the condition of bio-electric charge in acupoints. Also, we checked the balance or imbalance of left/right the MEP and unusual cases. Conclusions : We confirmed significance of proposed principle and meridian energy measurement system.

Objectives : The purpose of this research was to develop the magnetic acupuncture system which used solenoid coil for magnetizing acupuncture needle. The system could generate the meridian electric potential (MEP) similar to the potential by manual acupuncture. Thus, we tried to confirm the therapeutic effect that is caused by the MEP generation. Methods : To confirm the MEP, we stimulated the magnetic acupuncture with at 2Hz, $92.7{\pm}2mT$, PEMFs (Pulsed Electro-Magnetic Fields) at ST37 and measured the evoked potential between ST36 and ST41. Also, we conducted a fatigue recovery test using isokinetic exercise in order to identify the therapeutic effect on musculoskeletal disorders. We chose LR9 as a stimulation point. To observe the state of fatigue, we measured the EMG and analyzed median frequency and peak torque for 20minutes. Results : We observed that MEP which incurred from magnetic acupuncture was higher than he reported MEP induced by manual acupuncture. Moreover, its modes were divided into two types by the direction of magnetic flux. When generating magnetic flux in the direction of acupoint, the positive peak voltage of the MEP was generated. In contrast, negative peak voltage of the MEP was generated whenever meganetic flux generated in the outward direction. As a result of fatigue recovery, the median frequency (MF) of the magnetic acupuncture group were recovered faster than that of the non-stimulation group. However, the peak torques of both groups were not restored until after 20 minutes. Conclusions : We confirmed that the magnetic acupuncture system can lead to the MEP similar to manual acupuncture. Moreover, the MEP had a therapeutic effect on the musculoskeletal disorders.

통증을 치료하기 위한 방법으로 약물요법, 신경차단법, 외과적 수술 등이 있으며, 대체물리요법으로 침구치료, 초음파, 전기 치료, 자기장 치료 등이 응용되고 있다. 이중 전기치료 요법이 많이 이용되고 있으나, 피부나 피하조직의 임피던스에 큰 영향을 받으며, 주로 경피자극이 주된 방법으로 효과가 매우 확률론적이다. 본 연구에서는 집속형 자기장을 이용하여 경혈이나 치료점에 대한 국소 부위를 비침습적으로 자극 할 수 있는 새로운 시스템을 개발하였다. 수기자극과 유사한 자극을 유도할 수 있는 새로운 자기장 침 전극(자기장 자극의 효율성을 고려하여 새로운 형태)을 설계하였다. 개발된 시스템의 임상적 유효성 및 신뢰성을 평가하기 위하여 수기자극과 자기장 자극에 대한 경락전위변화를 측정하여 비교하였다. 실험 결과 자기장 자극 시 수기자극을 할 때 나타나는 충전 방전 형태의 전위변화와 유사한 경락전위변화가 측정되었으며, 자극방식, 세기, 빈도를 조절함에 따라 다양한 반응특성이 나타남을 확인하였다. 또한, 전자기장 자극에 의해 경락전위변화를 유도할 수 있어 이를 이용한 새로운 경혈자극 및 통증치료기로써의 가능성을 확인하였다.
