Design of Educational Software for Digital Image Editing (교육용 영상 편집기의 기능 설계)

  • According to the common use of digital images, the need of image editing software is being increased rapidly. In this paper, we surveyed and summed up general users about their use style, favorite menus, troublesome functions about their image editing software. It was examined that about 73 % of the users thought that image editing software were more difficult than other applications thanks to the superfluous menu and function structure. We designed and proposed a new structure of menus and functions for general users to learn easily and make efficient use of an image editor.

  • Drawing pneumatic circuits by hand and searching for the error when the circuit is not properly constructed are very difficult. In this paper, a graphic simulation program for drawing and evaluating pneumatic circuit systems was developed. The porgram is menu-driven style and pneumatic circuit can be easily drawn by selecting the pneumatic components from the menus. Simulation of the motion of each pneumatic component and testing of whether the circuit is constructed properly are possible with the software. This program was written in Turbo Pascal and also used the Turbo Graphix Toolbox. The system hardware requires IBM PC, XT, AT or compatibles, and Hercules Card.

  • 본 논문은 사출금형 설계를 위한 전문가 시스템의 개발에 관한 연구이다. 설계자가 오토케드 (AutoCAD)환경에서 금형부품 및 몰드베이스를 3차원 형상으로 나타낼 수 있으며 필요한 설계 데이터를 추가할수 있는 프로그램 개발에 있다. 주 프로그램은 C++를 사용하여 구축하였으며,금형부품 치수 및 몰 드베이스를 데이터베이스화 하였다. 주 프로그램과 오토캐드와 인터페이스를 하여 오토캐드 환경에서 자 유롭게 사용할 수 있도록 하였다. Pull-down menu와 Dialog box를 이용하여 금형 설계자가 금형의 각 부 품을 자유롭게 선정할 수 있으며, 각 단계별 선정된 금형부품은 즉시 나타나 설계자가 바로 확인 할 수 있도록 하였다. 이젝터 핀의 위치 및 크기를 자동적으로 나타낼수 있으며, 선정된 금형 부품 및 몰드베이 스는 2차원이나 3차원으로 나타낼 수 있다. 각각의 3차원 부품을 독립적으로 나타낼 수 있어 NC프로그램과 인터페이스가 가능토록 하였다.

Guiding Requirement Formulation Using Scenarios : Grammar-based Convergent Approach

  • Participatory Design (PD) community recognized that identification of use case scenarios describing possible uses of the future system is beneficial for users to identify their system requirements. However, brainstorming is a typical methodology for users to create use case scenarios during PD session, which heavily depend on the people skill and experiences of the analysts. The objective of this study is to develop a theoretical framework for automatic generation of requirement scenarios. Automatically generated scenarios serves as a menu of the possible user requirements from which user group can start to generate ideas about their requirements. The convergent approach taken here is novel in that the generated scenarios describe system requirements as well as the business process requirements in which the system operates. A context-sensitive grammar is used to generate the context relevant requirement scenarios.

  • The information with regard to the working range of lathe, cutting tool, cutting condition is managed as Database system for turning operation as one part of CAM system. Data with regard to the working range of lathe, cutting tool, cutting condition are stored by the DBMS(Data Base Management System) and can be added, modified, deleted and retrieved for realtime usages. Data stored in Database system are searched to select the most proper cutting tool and cutting condition with the input data fed from the design stage. Codes in regards to tool shape are displayed on graphic mode for easy selection for user and thus presents a good decision support for tool selection. The system developed in this work is operated by the pull down menu on the IBM PC/AT personal computer, or compatible series.

  • This paper is concerned on kinematic analysis and simulation of an automatic feeding mechanism subjected by the motion of a curvilinear inverse cam. The main objection is the development of computer-aided design (CAD) program for simulating the motion of the cam-feeding mechanism using computer-graphics. A computer program CACAFS (Computer-Aided Cam and Automatic Feeding System) is independent of computer hardware used. The program is also interactive using a menu-selection technique. As the second part of the paper for the motion simulation of the cam-feeding system, this paper discusses the state-of-art for CAD. The first part of the paper presents the algorithm to simulate the notion of the cam-feeding mechanism.

  • The aim of the research is to develop a PC based courseware which is programed to drafts clothing patterns. The pattern making are numerically formulized. The of the program were as follows;1. Menu and instructions are displayed in Korean Language. 2. Easy step-by-step instructions explaining how to draw basic pattern and design pattern. 3. Low cost personal computer and general purpose printer are used. The source program was written in C-language and compiled using Turbop C. The Bezier spline is used to draw curves of pattern and to display Korean characters and pattern on same screen simultaneoulsy, Korean characters are drawn graphically. The low cost IBM Personal Computer or compatibles with Hercules Graphic Card is required to run this grogram.

  • This study showed a way to develop web site of shopping mall through systematic identification of the interface elements affecting user's performance and subjective sensibility for Internet shopping mall. To quantify the effects of factors, simulators were designed and used in experiments. It was shown that location of 'Table of Contents'(left > right = up = down) and 'Menu' type(non_Drop down and page Movement = Drop down and page Movement > Drop down and non_age Movement) were the significant factors. However, whether 'Frame' was used or not, there was no significant difference. Also, in the evaluation of subjective sensibility, 'Background color' was a significant factor. And for 'Header & Scanning Column color', yellow color had a tendency to enhance satisfaction for 'simplicity', while green or blue color strengthened 'balance' feeling. But 'text style' was not significant.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a computer program for automatic dart manipulation, as well as basic pattern making, of women's front bodice. In addition to accuracy and efficiency In pattern making, this computer program provides variations of basic patterns through dart manipulation. AutoCAD, running on the Austin 486DX micro-computer is used for this research. The procedures of this study are as follows : 1. A pattern-making method for women's front bodice is selected. 2. All co-ordinate points are located following the same way and order of drafting. 3. Drafting of a basic front bodice is programmed 4. Functions for various single dart manipulations are defined. 5. Menu-driven user interface is developed.

  • With the advent of the internet era, web-based virtual training system is gaining its importance in recent years. Because of the fact that the training can take place in any place and at any time, the virtual system is now replacing many of the conventional off-line classes. Hardware environments such as communication bandwidth and computer performance gets fast enough to accommodate the virtual education. Based on the observations on current virtual training system, this paper proposes three critical design rules required when developing a new virtual training system: i) With conceptual mapping, the menu hierarchy can be organized in a clear-cut manner, ii) Extensive use of multimedia tools can help students keep their attention to the lecture materials, and iii) Provision of interaction mechanisms helps students to gain their identity and motivation.
