This study investigated the dietary behaviors and consumption of convenience foods among salaried men in Busan, Korea, and compared them based on the men's nutritional knowledge level. A questionnaire was developed based on the review of literatures and was distributed to 250 office workers in Busan in February 2013. A total of 224 data were used for the analyses. ${\chi}^2$-tests were employed for the nominal data while Mann-Whitney' U-tests were used for the ordinal data. Leven's tests were first performed before the t-tests for the interval data. Almost 60% of the respondents were female, 50% were in their 30s and 68% lived with other family members. The mean score of the nutritional knowledge test was 13.78 out of 20. Women and those who graduated from college or higher were likely to get a better score than men and those who graduated from high school or below. The respondents were divided into two groups for further analyses: Low (LK) vs. High (HK) knowledge score groups. LKs were more likely to consume 20 convenience foods than HKs. Although the respondents recognized the nutritional disadvantages of consuming convenience foods for an extended period, they continue to eat them because they lack time and further, it is quick and easy to consume convenience foods instead of preparing meals from scratch.
This study was designed to investigate the median nerve cross-sectional area of the upper extremity which is the main cause of CTS in the 20s and 30s. The median nerve cross-sectional area (MNC-area) of each part of the upper limb was measured in healthy 20s and 30s females and males without neurological diseases or other diseases. This MNC-area was compared with the hand, wrist, finger, and other body indexes. The research group was divided into 20s female and male groups, and the 30s were also divided into female and male groups. In the comparison between the ages, the hand, and wrist configurations in the 30s were significantly higher than those of the 20s. The mean median nerve cross-sectional area was significantly larger in the male group than in the female group in both 20s and 30s, and it was larger in both men and women than in the 20s. Hand and wrist configurations were also positively correlated with the median nerve cross-sectional area in both 20s and 30s. The median values of hand ratio and wrist ratio were 2.26 and 0.65, respectively. This median value of hand ratio was inversely correlated with the median nerve cross-sectional area. The median nerve cross-area of the 20s was 6.88~7.38 ㎟ in the male group and 5.69~6.99 ㎟ in the female group, respectively. The median nerve cross-area of the 30s was 6.32~8.89 ㎟ in the male group and 6.15~7.17 ㎟ in the female group, respectively. The mean median nerve cross-sectional area was positively correlated with body mass index in both groups. Most of the variables were higher in their 30s than in their 20s.
This paper provides basic data for product developers by investigating the consumption status, consumer perception, and consumer demand on products using Aster Yomena. Two hundred ninety-five people over 20 years of age were analyzed according to gender and age. In the purchase of Aster Yomena products, men were the higher purchasers except for powder. The number of North Korean refugees residing in the Republic of Korea (South) has reached 17,000, and this number is expected to exceed 20,000 (North Korean Supporter's Association, 2009). Refugees have developed improper dietary habits while hiding and escaping North Korea. They have also developed preferences for exotic food. This thesis attempts determine the changes in Korean food. This study also describes the view on South Korean food by North Korean refugees. According to our survey, women refugees had better dietary habits than men. Moreover, women and those in their 40's showed a tendency to choose food based on quality over quantity. Both men and women refugees responded that they cook food based on North Korean recipes. Those who view their current financial status as average or higher stated that South Korean food is tastier than North Korean food. Those whose financial status among North Koreans was average or higher when they lived in North Korea appreciated the splendor and beauty of South Korean food more. The results of this study are expected to assist in determining the differences in dietary habits between those from the North compared to Koreans living in the Republic of Korea. Therefore, studies between South and North Korean food should continue.

This study compared the domestic and international commercial design patterns and domestic consumer preferences for wetsuit designs to develop a user-centered wetsuit design. An analysis of the domestic and international design elements for 1,802 wetsuits sold online over the past three years showed that the most frequent shapes, dominant colors, and patterns were the same, as consumers tended to buy full suits that were black or had geometric patterns. Dominant colors and assort/accent colors were different from the survey results. Men's wetsuits used fewer colors and patterns than women's suits. Domestic wetsuits used fewer patterns than those sold abroad; in addition, colors were applied differently. A consumer preference survey conducted on 213 male and female consumers in their 20s and their 50s in Korea indicated that 53.5% of respondents were the most affected by the shape when choosing a wetsuit design. The preferred color scheme was two colors, with a vivid tone used as an accent color. The factor analysis results on wetsuit design preference uncovered the six factors: individuality, display, function, acceptance, imitation, and comparison. An independent sample t-test also showed that men perceive individuality, imitations, and comparison factors higher than women.
The purpose of the present study was to the investigate the effect of aging in men and women on muscle strength of knee extensor and flexors by using the cybex 6000 isokinetic dynamometer. A total of 100 volunteers participated in this study and were divided into five groups according to their chronological age as follows: 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 10 men and 10 women in each decade respectively. Isokinetic ($60^{\circ}{\cdot}s-l$) knee extensor and flexor peak torque, peak torque to body weight ratio, opposing muscles(flexor/extensor) peak torque ratio, deficit of peak torque between dominant and non-dominant were measured. The results obtained were as follows: 1) In men, While the aged increased. the peak torque of the knee flexor and extensor statistically sig nificant decreased in the dominant and non-dominant side. 2) In women, Statistically significant difference of knee extensor peak torque was found as the aged increased in the dominant and non-dominant side, but significant difference of knee flexor peak torque did not that. 3) In men, No significant difference in the peak torque of knee flexor to body weight ratio was found as the aged increased in the non-dominant side, but statistically significant difference in the peak torque of knee flexor to body weight weight ratio was found as the aged increased in the dominant side. 4) In women. No significant difference in the peak torque of knee flexor to body weight ratio was found as the aged increased in the dominant side, but statistically significant difference in the peak torque of knee flexor to body weight ratio was found as the aged increased in the non-dominant side. 5) In men and women, While the aged increased, statistically significant difference was found the dominant and non-dominant side in the peak torque of knee extensor to body weight ratio. 6) Peak torque of hamstring to quadriceps ratio of dominant and non-dominant side in men and women were not significantly different as the age increases. 7) Mean deficit of peak torque between dominant and non-dominant side in men and women were not significantly different as the age increases. From these results we conclude a proper exercise program is need before 50s decade to preserve in muscle strength of knee flexors and extensors.
This study was designed to investigate the effectiveness of ginseng intakes in modifying serum lipid profiles and plasma clotting factors. The participants in this study were 47 normal healthy volunteers(men 24, women 23) with an age range of 35-49 years and a mean age of 41 years residing in Taejon. Based on the diet intakes, subjects were classed into one of three groups : control, vegetarian, and ginseng consumed over 3-4 years. There was no significant difference in their physical characteristics. Dietary calorie intakes were not significantly different in subjects. The ratio of energy intake in the control and ginseng consumed group was 63-64% : 20-21% : 15-16%(Cho : Fat : Pro), but 70-73% : 13-14% :14-15%(Cho : Fat : Pro) in the vegetarians. The intakes of animal food in the vegetarian was significantly lower than the control and ginseng consumed group in men. The ratio of P/S(1.27) was the highest in the vegetarians. Venous blood samples were taken for serum lipid profiling, plasma clotting assay and platelet function. The concentration of serum triglyceride in the men ginseng group is significantly lower than those of the men control group. Serum lipid profiles values of the men ginseng group, such as total cholesterol and phospholipid were lower those of the men control group, but higher those of the men vegetarian group. the serum lipid profile in the women were not significant, but total cholesterol, triglyceride and LDL cholesterol levels in the ginseng groups were low. The concentration of HDL cholesterol was not significantly different. Platelet cell count and platelet aggregation were low in the ginseng groups. APTT(Activated Partial thromboplastin time) was significantly elongated in ginseng groups in the normal range. In seems that the major beneficial effects of ginseng intakes in especially men were on the blood concentrations of triglyceride, total cholesterol and elongation of plasma clotting time.
