Objectives : The Comparative Study Of The Eight Extra Meridians And The Primitive Meridians Will Improve The Understanding Of The Relationship Between Meridians And The Eight Extra Meridians, Which Ultimately Will illuminate The Origins Of Meridians. Methods Books From The Pre-Han And Han Dynasty, As Well As Publications Concerning Meridians And The Eight Extra Meridians Were Utilized. Results : Pathways Of The Eight Extra Meridians And The Primitive Meridians Travel Independently Without Connection With Other Meridians, And Have No Obvious Link With The Five Vital Organs And The Six Viscera. Additionally, The Terminology Of Both Meridians Is Similar, And Travel From Bottom To Top. Conclusion : The Eight Extra Meridians Have Several Similarities With The Primitive Meridians. Therefore, The Eight Extra Meridians May Be An Important Area To Investigate In The Future.

In the hand, few vessels can be classified as 'perforators'. Even today, the debate continues on whether or not branches of the digital artery should be considered as perforators. However, 'perforator' and 'perforator flaps' have become extremely popular within the microsurgery literature, and as such, the terminology has found widespread adoption across the hand surgery field. The finger is the most important sensory organ for tactile stimulation. The glabrous skin can be distinguished between the fingertip and the proximal tissue, with the fingertip having a higher functional and, therefore, reconstructive priority. Thus, sacrifice of the proximal glabrous skin can be justified in the reconstruction of fingertip defects. In this paper, the author reviews two flaps, 'lateral digital artery perforator flap' and 'volar digital artery perforator flap', both of which uses short branches of the digital artery as a vascular pedicle and are useful in fingertip construction.

Scientific research is mostly published in English, regardless of the researcher's nationality. However, this growing practice impairs or hinders the comprehension of professionals who depend on the results of these studies to provide adequate care for their patients. We suggest that machine translation (MT) can be used as a way of providing useful translation for biomedical articles, even though the translation itself may not be fluent. To tackle possible mistranslation that can harm a patient, we resort to crowd-sourced validation of translations. We developed a prototype of MT validation and edition, where users can vote for that translation as valid, or suggest modifications (i.e., post-editing the MT). A glossary match system is also included, aiming at terminology consistency.

Objectives: In order to improve our understanding of the meridian, it is necessary to analyze how meridian theory formed. In this regard, the primitive form of meridians requires further study. Methods: Data from the pre-Han and Han dynasties were used, as such data document primitive forms of the meridian. Results: 1. Some of the terminology of the primitive meridians did not include symmetrical terms such as hand, foot, yin and yang; instead, terms of travel area were used. 2. In the primitive meridians, most travel from the bottom to the top. 3. The twelve meridian system had not yet been introduced into the primitive system. 4. In the primitive meridians, only a few had branches. 5. In the primitive meridians, they did not have obvious connections with the five vital organs and the six viscera. Conclusions: Although the primitive meridian system differs from the modem, studying the primitive meridians may improve our understanding of the modem meridians.

This study was to provide model of SOAP Note, as a English and a Korean. English model was written with abbreviation. Abbreviations are und as a time and space saver while writing a notes. Acceptable abbreviations varies from one facility to the next, particularly terminology specific to allied health field such as physical therapy and occupational therapy. Based on the research results, the following consideration and guideline are presented. 1. Include the SOAP Note in curriculums of physical therapy. 2. The list of abbreviation have to approved between the Korea Hospital Association and the Korea Physical Therapy Association.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe and to analyze real conversation about polite behavior of nurses in cancer units. Methods: This study was conducted using a Brown & Levinson(1987) theory to analyze the polite behavior of nurses in cancer units. Five nurses who participated in this research gave permission to be videotaped. The data was collected from January to February, 2006. Results: Polite behavior of nurses in cancer units consisted of greetings, emotional support, open questions and indirect direction. And impolite behavior of nurses in cancer units was using the medical terminology, repetition of direct speech acts and task-oriented conversation. Conclusion: This study suggests polite behavior strategies for effective nursing conversation with cancer patients. Therefore, the findings may provide basic raw materials for educational programmes and intervention studies.

The following are suggested joint distraction and gliding techniques for use by entry level therapists and those attempting to gain a foundation in joint mobilization. A variety of adaptations can be made from these techniques. The distraction and glide techniques should be applied with respect to the dosage, frequency, progression, precautions, and procedures as described in this section. Basic concepts of joint mobilization were presented, including definitions of terminology and the two grading systems. Joint mobilization techniques are one part of a total treatment for decreased function. Therapy should also include appropriate range of motion, strengthening, and functional techniques.

Object : Pulse feeling(脈診) belongs to pulse feeling or palpation(切診) of methods of diagnosis in oriental medical terminology. Pulse appears at bio-energy condition of body, so it is a important part of disease diagnosis but we have been trouble in diagnosis by difficulty of pulse feeling(脈診). Methods : We investigate the books about pulse feeling, which are involved "Hwangjenaegyong", "Nangyong", "Maggyeng" etc. Conclusion : According to these, this paper helps you understand pulse feeling(脈診) through comparision and studying pulse condition at clasics with electro pulse machine.

A statistical analysis of the diagnostic value for 244 aspiration biopsy cytology(ABC) among a total 1,043 cases from various sites was performed. ABC, using diagnostic terminology similar to that of a surgical pathology reports, was compared to the final tissue diagnosis. For the entire series, a sensitivity of 91.8%, a specificity of 99.3%, a positive predictive value of 98.9%, a negative predictive value of 94,8%, and an efficacy of the test of 96.3% were shown. There were 8 false negative and 1 false positive diagnosis. The diagnostic accuracy was 89.8%. Those results indicate that the ABC is a considerably highly accurate procedure that should be routinely employed.
