  • In this paper, we've studied on the Breakdownpatterns which hove an effect on Down-Time of Medical Equipment. This study is based on the statistics of MMS(Maintenance Management System) accumulated since the opening of Samsung Medical Center. We hope that this paper, which is acquired through the analysis about the seasonal feature, the work pattern feature and the period used, is useful to reduce a term of Down-Time and to retrench hospital management cost.

  • Blood pulsation has been reported to have an advantageous effect on extracorporeal blood circulation. However, the study of pulsatile blood flow in renal replacement therapy is very limited. The in-vitro experimental results of pulsatile blood flow on ultrafiltration, when compared with the conventional roller pump, are described in this paper. Methods: Blood flow rate (QB) and transmembrane pressure (TMP) were considered as regulating factors that have an influence on ultrafiltration. Experiments were performed under the condition of equal TMP and OB in both pulsatile and roller pump groups, Several kinds of hollow fiber dialyzers were tested using distilled water containing chemicals as a blood substitute. Mean TMP (mTMP) varied from 10 to 90mmHg while the QB was 200ml/min. Results: Ultrafiltration rate (QUF) was found to be linearly proportional to TMP, whereas QB had little influence on QUF. In addition, QUF was higher in the pulsatile group than the roller pump group at the identical TMP. Conclusion: In the controlled test, QUF increased solely as a consequence of blood pulsation, which implies that the pulse frequency represents an additional and important clinical variable during renal replacement therapy.

  • With the international change in the medical device market owing to the development of innovative medical engineering and the use of various raw materials, a systematic and rational medical device classification system is needed to safely manage newly developed medical devices. This study aims to improve the domestic medical device classification system by proposing product establishment and segmentation. It is based on medical device products from the United States and Europe that are only available in foreign systems and are more subdivided than domestic products. This study analyzes and compares the domestic and foreign medical device classification systems by examining laws, guidelines, and analysis reports in Korea, the United States, and Europe. In accordance with product establishment and segmentation criteria, products subject to improvement are presented. This study contributes to safely managing medical devices that do not fit with the current classification system and to solving the confusion caused by the lack of international harmony in product classification systems.

  • Objectives : To review a Tanzanian medical engineering education program and determine improvement measures for the Official Development Assistance (ODA) healthcare projects. Methods : A consultation of the Tanzanian medical engineering education program funded by the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRFK) was reviewed. An on site survey, an environmental analysis, and in-depth interviews were performed. Results : Survey results highlighted a lack of medical device education and the low operating rate of medical equipment. The need to establish educational program was thus confirmed. The expansion of healthcare facilities appeared to be limited within the current medical management system. A master coursework plan for Tanzania medical engineering was developed. Conclusions : The needs of medical engineering education were recognized. A plan and curriculum were developed. The medical engineering education program should be planned and budgeted prior to the ODA healthcare program.

  • Deep learning-based applications have great potential to enhance the quality of medical services. The power of deep learning depends on open databases and innovation. Radiologists can act as important mediators between deep learning and medicine by simultaneously playing pioneering and gatekeeping roles. The application of deep learning technology in medicine is sometimes restricted by ethical or legal issues, including patient privacy and confidentiality, data ownership, and limitations in patient agreement. In this paper, we present an open platform, MI2RLNet, for sharing source code and various pre-trained weights for models to use in downstream tasks, including education, application, and transfer learning, to encourage deep learning research in radiology. In addition, we describe how to use this open platform in the GitHub environment. Our source code and models may contribute to further deep learning research in radiology, which may facilitate applications in medicine and healthcare, especially in medical imaging, in the near future. All code is available at https://github.com/mi2rl/MI2RLNet.
