Study on Sexual Images on the Cover of Maxim Men's Magazine (남성잡지Maxim 표지모델에 나타난 섹슈얼이미지에 관한 연구)

  • There are lots of sexual images in the contemporary media, and this is due to many of the media formats, such as television, magazines, and the Internet, using these images to relay various messages to the people. The media uses these sexual images (i.e. woman in a bikini) in order to use sex and eroticism as a marketing tool to the audience. Unlike other men's magazines, which actually have many female readers, Maxim magazine's readers are made of mostly men, and because of this, their magazine covers are usually filled with sexy women celebrities, such as singers or actors; images that can attract the general men. This study puts its focus on evaluating Maxim magazine's marketing strategy. The strategy of targeting men in their 20's and 30's, who were not interested in reading, but were impulsive and visually oriented. The study looked at magazine covers from November 2002 (the start of the magazine) to October 2008 (the peak period of its sales), and a total of 72 images were analyzed. For each image, 5 things were recorded (model's occupation, clothing style, hairstyle, makeup, pose and gaze).

  • The growing global energy demand has been the motivation for innovations for improved approaches on energy trade. The involvement of new energy market players known as prosumers have also enabled Peer-to-Peer (P2P) energy trade in microgrid communities. In this paper, a novel approach to energy trading based on Hive Strategy is proposed. The strategy aims to encourage prosumers to become workers that will meet the energy demands of consumers referred to as hives. The workers are selected based on their Prosumer Ratings (PR) and are ranked from the ones with the highest PR to the lowest. Using the PR, prosumers with the best energy consumption and generation behaviors are prioritized for energy trade. To test the proposed strategy, a simulation has conducted and the results show how the energy demand of the hive is met by the workers. Furthermore, an improvement in the pay-offs and PR of the workers are observed.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the impacts of media symbol variety on group performance in virtual teams. Symbol variety is defined as the number of ways in which information can be communicated and includes Daft and Lengel [1986]'s multiplicity of cues and language variety. According to media richness theory and media synchronicity theory, the use of media with high symbol variety is assumed to facilitate and promote communications among virtual team members. Therefore, it is expected that the media symbol variety is positively associated with group performance in virtual teams. Furthermore, online relationship building is expected to mediate the impacts of symbol variety on the performance. To confirm the suppositions, a controlled lab experiment was conducted with 60 undergraduate students as subjects. In the experimental virtual teams, subjects were allowed to communicate with other members using text-based messenger with emoticons. Subjects in the control virtual teams were allowed to communicate using only text-based messenger. The direct impact of symbol variety on group performance in virtual teams was found insignificant. However, the online relationship was found to completely mediate the positive impact of symbol variety on group performance. The implications and limitations of this study are also discussed for future research.

A Study on the Effect of SNS Characteristics of Restaurant Franchise on the Customer Decision and Redelivery Intention

  • This study is conducted to analyze how Social Media characteristics of restaurant franchise affect customer decision making and redelivery intention and find out how to do Social Media marketing which is getting important. Through this study, we will understand the direction of Social Media management. In this study, we had 220 users to respond questionnaires who looked up about restaurant franchise through Social Media. In the previous research, we classified the Social Media characteristics about the restaurant franchise into the fields of liveliness, agreement, reliability, communication, accuracy, and entertainment. In order to verify the hypothesis, we conducted single regression analysis and multiple regression analysis and verified the relationship between variables. First, we found that Social Media characteristics of restaurant franchise has a positive relationship with favorability. Second, Social Media characteristics of restaurant franchise has a positive relationship with satisfaction. Third, favorability has a positive effect on satisfaction. Fourth, favorability has a positive effect on the intention of re-inquiry and redeliver. Fifth, satisfaction has a positive effect on the revisit and intention to redirect. As a result of the study, we found that restaurant franchise will gain trust of customers if they take into account the characteristics of Social Media of restaurant franchise and conduct customized marketing according to the head office of restaurant franchise and perform continuous feedback and management in order to improve customer's favorability and loyalty.

SNS Big-data Analysis and Implication of the Marine and Fisheries Sector (해양수산 SNS 빅데이터 분석 결과 및 시사점)

  • SNS Big-data Analysis means to find potential value from big data which has produced by the social media. In this paper, SNS Big-data has been analysed to find Korean concerns by using 24 key words from the marine and fisheries sector. Among 24 key words, seafood, shipping and Dokdo Island are the most mentioned ones. Some key words such as ocean policies and marine security that have less concerns have bess mentioned less. Also, key words that are led by government are mostly mentioned by news media, but key words that are led by private sector and have intimate relationship with people's lives are mostly mentioned by Blogs and Twitters. Therefore, reflecting close national concerns by SNS Big-data Analysis and especially resolving negative factors are the most significant part of the policy establishment. Also, differentiated promotion methods need to be prepared because the frequency of key words mentioned from each type of media are different.

A Study on the Influence of Cable VOD Key Service Attributes on the Intention to Use Paid VOD (케이블VOD 주요 서비스 속성이 유료VOD 이용 의향에 미치는 영향 연구)

  • This study classified the different types of service attributes being provided through cable VOD services and looked at how the key service attribute types affect the willingness to use paid VOD for each group of paid and non-experienced users. Studies have shown that for a group of non-experienced people, 'content information-oriented attributes' have the greatest impact, and for a group of experienced people, 'convenience-oriented attributes' have the greatest impact. Thus, expanding users of paid VOD services requires setting up step-by-step strategies that match their respective collective characteristics. For a group of non-experienced people, it is necessary to take a direct persuasion strategy through the provision of relevant information and an indirect approach strategy through the expansion of promotion opportunities, and for an experienced group, a strategy to expand functional convenience.
