  • Lookism is spread largely because many people think beautiful people are treated better and receive more favors. This trend has been influenced by mass media and impacted by commercial marketing strategy. The expectation for the beauty have risen higher than ever. People expect beautiful body and beautiful face which are more difficult to meet the standard of beauty. People desire tall and skinny body. The purpuse of this study was to find out body image from college females in the age which they are very sensitive to appearance. This research focused to find out how they perceived their own body shape and their perception of the most ideal body shape. Measuring tool for the research was 9 pictures of body silhouette from very skinny to very fat. To analyse the respondents' objective body image, Body Mass Index were employed. The result of this research indicated that there were distinct differences between their subjective body images and ideal body images. This result indicated that they were not satisfied with their own body shape and hence they were not confident towards their body images. Even though their objective bodies were normal or under weight, they still felt they were over weight. This meant their body images were misrepresented. They preferred thinner bodies even though their bodies were perfectly normal and healthy. But these misrepresented body images could be unhealthy physically, psychologically, or socially. These results showed that college females were overly obsessive with superficial appearance rather than improving ones capability to be more competitive in the society. From this research, I tried to find out perception of body image and it's distortion which was debated a lot in our society. I also want to provide basic reference material for establishing the body image study.

  • Wood, laminates, reinforced concrete, and some special types of metals systems with controlled grain orientation are often orthotropic and at least rectilinearly anisotropic from point to point, if regarded as homogeneous media. Orthotropic bodies where a crack is not associated with a plane of elastic symmetry may be conveniently treated as a crack problem in a generally anisotropic body. At this work, approach for the determination of the stress intensity factors (SIF) of anisotropic body using crack tip singular elements is presented. Caculated values are in good agreement with the others.

  • If we may practice the nutrition education planned on the basis which carefully grasped the inappropriate behavioral determinants of middle-school students, it might be an effective method achieving the change in perception and behavior improving the distorted perception about the ideal body shape, so we are to suggest the 8 week program of body shape perception improvement for successful nutrition education as follows. The body shape perception improvement program is a step-by-step group consulting program. At the introduction stage, we let them understand the meaning of true beauty and body change of teenage period and forming of sexual identity. At the stage of perception conversion, we let them have the opportunity to observe the status of body perception of the teenager and self-observation. At the stage of correction, we let them criticize the distorted body image in the society with mass media at the same time with the self-reflection. At the stage of maintenance and evaluation, we suggested the behavior guidance while preparing it. Setting this as the basis, we applied the contents such as the evaluations through cultural sharing events making somethings while directly participating. As the target groups to practice education were middle school students, we considered the learning level and behavioral features of the middle school students, and composed the programs including the methods such as role play, watching real things, media production, discussions and experiences. If the program of body shape perception improvement developed at this study could be utilized at the field of schools, the teenagers can change their ways of thought naturally avoiding the view about unified appearance rightly perceiving negative self-image that the teenagers can have and if the group consulting can be practiced regularly at each school, many students may experience the change in perception, so it might solicit the improvement of health of the families and local societies as well as that of the individual student.

  • Purpose : To examine the effect of unilateral otitis media and unilateral cerumen occlusion of the ear canal on thermometers. Methods : One hundred eighty six children with unilateral otitis media, fifty children with unilateral cerumen occlusion, and fifty children with neither otitis media nor cerumen were enrolled. Temperature was measured in both ear canals using thermometers. After 15 minutes, second temperature was measured again in both ears. Unilateral otitis media was graded by video otoscope for 7 grades. Differences in temperatures between affected ears and unaffected ears were analyzed. Results : No temperature difference between the normal and cerumen groups was observed. The mean temperature of the otitis media ear canal was $0.13{\pm}0.20^{\circ}C$ higher than that of the intact ear canal ($36.99{\pm}0.54^{\circ}C$ vs $36.86{\pm}0.52^{\circ}C$; P<0.001). There was no statistically significant temperature difference between grades. Conclusion : Unilateral otits media can affect estimation of body temperature measured by thermometers.

  • The effect of P. agarici and P. tolaasii causing the bacterial disease of mushrooms on the mycelial growth and fruitbody formation of F. velutipes was evaluated in laboratory. When the pathogenic bacteria was inoculated simultaneously with F. velutipes or 5 days after inoculation of F. velutipes, they significantly deterred both mycelial growth and fruitbody formation of F. velutipes in sawdust culture and showed strong inhibition under high population density. They appeared to be tender or milky in exhibiting symptom on F. velutipes by inoculating the concentration of $10^2{\sim}10^6$ of unit/g media, and their growth seemed to be stopped under $10^8\;cfu/g$ media. On $10^2\;cfu/g$ media of P. agarici and $10^4\;cfu/g$ media of P. tolaasii, there was no effect on the fruitbody yield of F. velutipes. P. tolaasii was more suppressive in the mycelial growth of F. velutipes than P. agarici, while on fruitbodies formation of F. velutipes, P. agarici showed slightly higher inhibition than that of P. tolaasii. When the bacteria was inoculated 10 days after inoculation of F. velutipes, both mycelial growth and fruit body formation were not affected nearly.

  • Due to the popularization of the Extended Reality, research is actively underway to implement human motion in real-time 3D animation. In particular, Microsoft developed Kinect cameras for 3D motion information can be obtained without the burden of facilities and with simple operation, real-time animation can be generated by combining with 3D formats such as FBX. Compared to the marker-based motion capture system, however, Kinect has low accuracy due to its lack of estimated performance of joint information. In this paper, two algorithms are proposed to correct joint estimation errors in order to realize natural human motion in motion capture animation system in Kinect camera-based FBX format. First, obtain the position information of a person with a Kinect and create a depth map to correct the wrong joint position value using the human body segment length constraint information, and estimate the new rotation value. Second, the pre-set joint motion range constraint is applied to the existing and estimated rotation value and implemented in FBX to eliminate abnormal behavior. From the experiment, we found improvements in human behavior and compared errors between algorithms to demonstrate the superiority of the system.

  • Through this research, we measure the data for several SUVs such as SUVLBM, SUVBW, and SUVBSA using volume of interest in order to enhance the diagnostic level in whole-body image for healthy examinees via F-18 FDG PET/CT. Maximum value, mean value, standard deviation, and threshold value for each SUVs are shown. The measurement of SUVs are carried out with 31 examinees who have taken whole-body examination with F-18 FDG PET/CT from July, 2012 to August, 2012. To secure the preciseness of measurement, we selected 26 healthy examinees as a subject of measurement according to diagnostic view of a nuclear-medical doctor. We see from the measurement of SUVs of PET/CT that the value of SUVBW is hightest and followed by SUVLBM and SUVBSA in turn regardless of the use of contrast media. By comparing the SUVLBM-maximum data for the group used contrast media with those for the group used no contrast media, there found a trend that the measured values increase when the contrast media are used. Among them, liver, aorta, lumbar-5, and Cerebellum exhibit significant difference (p<0.05). We conclude that our data for SUVs would be basic references in overall image interpretation, and hope that the research using VOI would be active.

  • Human body communication (HBC) is being recognized as a new communication technology for mobile and wearable devices in a body area network (BAN). This paper presents co-channel interference experienced by HBC supporting the physical layer in the IEEE 802.15.6 BAN standard. To analyze the co-channel interference, a co-channel interference model is introduced, and space-domain and time-domain parameters representing an interference environment are generated using the co-channel interference model. A new signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) parameter depending on the peak amplitudes of the data signals causing co-channel interference is defined; co-channel interference can be easily analyzed and modelled using the newly defined SIR. The BER degradation model derived using the co-channel interference model and SIR in this paper can be effectively used to estimate the performance.

  • As media technology has made rapid progress, cultures in the world have spread fast. In addition, Korea wave spreading toward the world is taking shape as a brand that represents essential Koreanness. Such tendency has led attempts to seek Koreanness in the field of space design. The desire to escape from the absence of humanity that is based on mechanistic nature view has led a variety of ideas and concepts on space. In particular, concept of phenomenological space centering on human body has been emphasized. Merleau-Ponty found concept of phenomenological space that emphasizes awareness through experience of human body. In this thesis, orientation as situation, temporality as body, depth as consciousness, and correlational orientation which are key concepts of Merleau-Ponty's phenomenology were covered. Such concepts were used in analyzing the characteristics of Buseoksa Temple to present essential Koreanness.
