Study on Performance Evaluation of Oscillating Heat Pipe Heat Exchanger for Low Temperature Waste Heat Recovery

  • The performance of heat exchanger using oscillating heat pipe (OHP) for low temperature waste heat recovery was evaluated. OHP used in this study was made from low finned copper tubes connected by many turns to become the closed loop of serpentine structure. The OHP heat exchanger was formed into shell and tube type. R-22 and R-141b were used as the working fluids of OHP with a fill ratio of 40 vol.%. Water was used as the working fluid of shell side. As the experimental parameters, the inlet temperature difference between heating and cooling water and the mass velocity of water were changed. The mass velocity of water was changed from 30 kg/$m^2$s to 92 kg/$m^2$s. The experimental results showed that the heat recovery rate linearly increased as the mass velocity and the inlet temperature difference of water increased. Finally, the performance of OHP heat exchanger was evaluated by $\varepsilon$-NTU method. It was found that the effectiveness would be 80% if NTU were about 1.5.

  • 금속씰의 탄성복원력은 기밀성능을 결정하는 매우 중요한 요소이다. 본 연구는 장시간 운전조건에서 기밀성능을 유지할 수 있는 금속오링씰의 구조, 즉 탄성복원력이 우수한 구조를 얻기 위하여 컴플라이언트 메커니즘 위상최적화법을 도입하였다. 진화구조최적화법의 위상최적화 알고리듬이 사용되었으며, 강성 및 유연성을 동시에 고려하는 두 가지 종류의 목적함수가 사용되었다. 금속오링씰의 외형을 고려하여 원형의 최적화 설계영역이 고려되었으며 최적화 결과로 나타난 위상의 탄성복원력은 상용품의 탄성복원력과 비교되었다.

핀 형상에 따른 폐열회수용 핀-튜브 열교환기의 성능분석 (Performance Analysis of Fin-Tube Heat Exchangers with Various Fin Shapes for Waste Gas Heat Recovery)

  • As an innovative effort to secure economically viable heat recovery system, various fin shapes for industrial fin-tube heat exchangers have been studied for better performance. In this study, the waste gas heat recovery from four different fin shapes was experimentally performed for heat transfer rate and pressure drop. According to the tested results, the twist and wavy shape fins of rectangular type show the superior performance in terms of Goodness factor and jH/f factor ratio, whereas the circular spiral fin shows the inferior values. Experimental results shows good comparison with the numerical results with a slight discrepancy of 5%, which is quite resonable.

  • Actuators using shape memory alloys use the one-way shape recovery stress. But when external load is applied the accumulated plastic strain induced by repeated deformation is the factor of generation of uncorrect recovery stress and unreliability. To solve this problem, two-way shape memory effect (TWSME) is considered. TWSME induced by plastic deformation have advantages including simple heating cycle without external force and enough recovery force for using actuators. but there is no research on cylinder-type or tube-type shape memory alloy actuators using two-way shape memory effect until now. Therefore in this study, characteristics of two-way shape memory effect is verified through the compression experiments using cylinder-type and tube-type specimens.

Mat 묘(苗)의 크리이프 및 회복특성(回復特性) (Creep and Recovery Properties of Mat-type Rice Seedlings)

  • The mechanical and rheological properties of agricultural materials which influence the machine design or handling are not completely understood. Agricultural materials do not react in a purely elastic manner, and their responses when subjected to stress and strain appear a combination of elastic and viscous behavior. Many researchers have studied the mechanical and rheological properties of the various agricultural materials, but those properties are available mostly for foreign varieties of agricultural products. Rheological properties of rice seedlings become important to formulate the principles governing their mechanical behavior. The objectives of this study were to experimentally determine the creep and recovery behavior of rice seedlings of one japonica-type and one Indica x japonica hybrid in the transplanting age. The results of this study are summarized as follows; 1. The compression creep and recovery behavior of mat-type seedlings could be described by 4-element Burger's model. 2. The steady-state creep appeared at the stress larger than 0.8 MPa and the logarithmic creep appeared at the stress smaller than 0.8 MPa. 3. In the compression creep test of the rice seedlings, the instantaneous elastic modulus of Burger's model showed the range from 20 to 40 MPa. The higher value of absolute viscosity for the rice seedling explained that the rice seedlings were viscoelastic materials. 4. In the recovery test of the rice seedlings, there was a tendency that the higher permanent strain of all samples was observed under the smaller stress being appeared, and the larger permanent strain in Dongjin was observed than in Samkang.

  • 무인수상정에서 수중탐색임무를 수행하기 위해서는 자동으로 수중탐색장비 진수 및 회수를 할 수 있는 진회수시스템(LARS; launch and recovery system)이 필수적이다. 수중탐색 운용시나리오에 따른 LARS 요구사항 분석을 통하여 기본적인 구동 메커니즘 및 기구부 개념설계를 수행하였다. 또한 해상에서 무인수상정은 파도와 같은 환경적인 외란에 의해 동요하게 되므로, 이러한 해상상태에 의한 외란을 고려하여 안정적으로 수중탐색장비를 회수하기 위한 상세설계와 제작을 수행하였고, 설계된 LARS에 대하여 수조시험을 통해 진회수 성능을 검증하였다.

간접식 증발냉각장치의 성능예측과 에너지절약에 관한 연구 (Study on Performance Prediction and Energy Saving of Indirect Evaporative Cooling System)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 간접식 증발냉각 장치의 성능을 예측하고, 장치를 공기조화기의 배기열 회수에 적용하였을 경우의 에너지 절약효과를 분석하는 것이다. 플라스틱 열교환기를 사용한 간접식 증발냉각장치의 성능 상관식을 여러가지 조건에서 얻어진 실험 데이터로부터 구하였으며, 이 상관식을 이용하여 환기와 외기의 조건을 변화시켜가면서 장치의 성능변화를 예측하였다. 또한 간접식 증발냉각장치의 배기열 회수에 의한 에너지 절약효과를 우리나라 몇개 도시의 표준기상데이터를 사용하여 분석하였다. 여름철 배기열 회수를 위한 현열냉각장치의 사용율은 평균 44.3%이며 증발냉각장치의 사용율은 96.7% 이다. 증발냉각장치의 배기열 회수에 의한 에너지 절약은 현열냉각장치에 비해서 훨씬 높으며, 서울의 경우 약 3.89 배로 나타났다.

  • 본 논문에서는 재사용 발사체와 발사체의 회수과정에서 사용된 기술에 대해 소개하고 분석한다. 이를 위하여 세계 각국의 재사용 발사체를 조사하였으며 발사체 회수 부분에 따라 기술을 분류하였다. 특히, 실제 비행에 성공한 Space X의 Falcon 9과 Blue Origin의 New Shepard의 회수과정을 중심으로 조사하였으며 비행 조건에 따라 적용된 기술들을 분석하여 특징들을 나열하였다. 이를 통하여 추후 한국형 발사체가 발사 비용을 절감하기 위해 사용할 수 있는 재사용 기술들에 대해 소개하고자 한다.

  • In previous study, the decrease and recovery of total stiffness in welded structure was discussed on the basis of experimental examination through tensile loading and unloading test of welded specimen. The recovery of structure stiffness was caused by the release of welding residual stress through mechanical loading. In this study, analysis model that is indispensable for the effective application of MSR method was established on the basis of test and measurement result. Thermal elasto-plastic analysis for welding process was performed by non-coupled analysis. Analysis results of welding process were transfer to elasto-plastic model for tensile loading & unloading by restart technique. In elasto-plastic analysis model for mechanical loading & unloading, hardening appearance of weld metal was considered by rezoning technique and tying technique was used for JIG condition of test machine.
