Piezoelectric Properties of PZW-PMN-PZT Ceramics for Energy Harvesting Devices (에너지하베스팅 소자용 PZW-PMN-PZT 세라믹의 압전특성)

  • In this study, in order to develop the composition of ceramics capable of being sintered at low temperature with high piezoelectric properties, PZW-PMN-PZT system ceramics for piezoelectric energy harvesting application were manufactured according to the amount of PZW addition. And also, their microstructural, dielectric and piezoelectric properties were investigated. At the sintering temperature of $930^{\circ}C$, a 5 mol% PZW substituted specimen showed a maximum value of density = $7.905g/cm^3$, kp = 0.585, $d_{33}$ = 351pC/N and Qm =1,254, respectively.

  • The dielectric and piezoelectric properties of silver doped $Pb(Zr,Ti)O_3-Pb(Mn,W,Sb,Nb)O_3$ ceramics was examined. By varying the contents of silver(0.0, 0.4, 1.0 mol%), the effect of doped silver on PZT-PMWSN thin film was investigated at various sintering temperature(900, 1000, $1100^{\circ}C$). As increasing silver contents, the relative dielectric constant is increased and sinterbility is enhanced. At the specimen with 0.4 mol% Ag and sintered at $1100^{\circ}C$, electromechanical coupling factor(kp), mechanical quality factor(Qm), dielectric constant(${\varepsilon}r$) and dielectric loss were 0.502, 811, 991, 0.006, respectively. The results show that the PZT-PMWSN/Ag composites have enhanced piezoelectic and dielectric properties and processing condition is improved.

  • 1mm-thick BLT ceramics were sintered in accordance with a bulk ceramic fabrication process. AII XRD peaks detected in the sintered ceramics were indexed as the Bi-layered perovskite structure without secondary phases. Density was increased with increasing the sintering temperature up to $1050^{\circ}C$ and the maximum value was about 98% of the theoretical density. The remanent polarization (2Pr) value of BLT ceramic sintered at $1050^{\circ}C$ was approximately $6.5\;{\mu}C/cm^2$ at the applied voltage of 4.5 kV. The calculated electromechanical coupling factor ($k_t$) of it was about 5% and the mechanical quality factor (Qm) was about 2200. From these results, a BLT ceramic target for pulsed laser deposition (PLD) system was successfully fabricated.

  • In this study, $(K_{0.5}Na_{0.5})(Nb_{0.97}Sb_{0.03})O_3+0.9$ mol% $K_{5.4}Cu_{1.3}Ta_{10}O_{29}+x$ mol% $K_4CuNb_8O_{23}$ (x = 0, 0.2, 0.6, 0.8) ceramics were prepared by a conventional mixed oxide method. Their microstructure and electric properties were investigated. The secondary phase was made by virtue of $K_4CuNb_8O_{23}$ (KCN) addition in the $(K_{0.5}Na_{0.5})(Nb_{0.97}Sb_{0.03})O_3$ system ceramics. However, the sinterability of the ceramics increased with increasing $K_4CuNb_8O_{23}$ content. At the 0.6 mol% $K_4CuNb_8O_{23}$ added composition ceramics sintered at $1,060^{\circ}C$, kp and $d_{33}$ showed the optimum values of 0.39 and 145 pC/N, respectively, suitable for piezoelectric actuator application.

  • Recently, piezoelectric transformer is applied to wide fields. Multi layer piezoelectric transformer has the advantage of high step up ratio, high electromechanical coupling coefficient(Kp) and high mechanical quality factor(Qm), however it shows the peeling-phenomenon of electrode, and high price due to high sintering temperature. Therefore this study focus on the method for fabrication of high power rosen type piezoelectric transformers. The composition of $0.01Pb(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3)O_3$ - 0.08Pb$(Mn_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3$-0.91Pb$(Zr_{0.505}Ti_{0.495})O_3$(abbreviated as PNN-PMN-PZT) ceramics is employed for this study.

Effects of Impurity on Properties of PZT(II) (PZT 특성에 미치는 부조물의 영향(II))

  • The dielectric and piezoelectic properties in which $(Zr_{0.52} Ti_{0.48})^{+4}$ ions of $Pb(Zr_{0.52} Ti_{0.48})O_3$ are partially substituted for $W^{+6}$ ions were studied. $ZrTiO_4$ was made by coprecipitation. The specimens of disc shape were sintered respectively at 1180$^{\circ}$to 130$0^{\circ}C$ at an intervals of 2$0^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour. The optimum sintering temperature were found to be between 126$0^{\circ}C$ and 128$0^{\circ}C$. PZT solid solutions sintered had the tetragonal structure with c/a=1.025$\pm$0.005 and theoretical densities incre-ased from 8.02 to 8.17g/cm3 with increasing the amount of the partial substitution of $(Zr_{0.52} Ti_{0.48})^{+4}$ ion for $W^{+6}$ ion The grain size and curie temperature decreased with increasing the amount of $WO_3$ while the dielectric constant increased. When $(Zr_{0.52} Ti_{0.48})^{+4}$ ion was substituted for 1 mole% of $W{+6 ]$ion the planar coupling coefficient$(K_P)$ was as high as 0.58 But as the amount of $WO_3$ increased the mechanical quality factor(Qm) decreased considerably.

  • In this study, the effect of the sintering temperature on the dielectric and piezoelectric properties of 0.5 wt% $MnO_{2}$-doped $0.125Pb(Mg_{1/2}Nb_{2/3})O_{3}-0.435PbTiO_{3}-0.44PbZrO_{3}$ ceramics were investigated aiming at ultrasonic motor applications. From experimental result, it was found that the optimal sintering temperature condition was at $1270^{\circ}C$. The sample sintered at $1270^{\circ}C$ had density of $7.72\;g/cm^{3}$, dielectric constant of 570, dielectric loss of 0.82%, remanent polarization of $19.18{\mu}C/cm^{2}$, coercive field of 9.63 kV/cm, electromechanical coupling factor of radial mode of 55.1%, mechanical quality factor of 886. Temperature and frequency dependence of dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the sintered sample at $1270^{\circ}C$ was also investigated.

  • This paper is the study for piezoelectric properties of PMN-PT-PZ composition for high power piezoelectric device. It needs the properties such as high mechanical quality factor(Qm), high electromechanical coupling coefficient(kp) and high dielectric strain constant$(d_31)$, and the stable electromechanical properties under high vibration level. For acquiring this results, the value of x is changed in 0.1Pb$(Mn_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3$+(0.9-x)$PbZrO_3+xPbTiO_3$ composition to find MPB(morphotropic phase boundary), and the piezoelectric constants is measured by resonance-antiresonance frequency method, based on IRE Standard. Also, it is measured as a function of the amount of additive, $Nb_2O_5$. When the composition is applied to high power device, the electromechanical properties is measured by laser vibrometer to confirm the reliablity under high vibration level. From these results, PMN-PT-PZ composition is shown excellent properties and capacity of application to high power device.

  • Recently, piezoelectric transformer is applied to wide fields. Multi layer piezoelectric transformer has the advantage of high step up ratio, electromechanical coupling coefficient(Kp) and mechanical quality factor(Qm), but is indicated of peeling-phenomenon of electrode, rising sintering temperature made price of costly electrode. So in this study, it discuss on method for fabrication of rosen type piezoelectric transformers. For the fabrication as rosen type piezoelectric transformers, synthesized the powder using 0.01Pb$(ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3$ - 0.08Pb$(Mn_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3$ - 0.91Pb$(Zr_{0506}Ti_{0496})O_3$ (abbreviated as PNN-PMN-PZT) ceramics. The density, microstructure, dielectric and piezoelectric properties as a function of sintering temperature were investigated. The results indicated that the optimized properties of ceramics were obtained at sintering temperature of 1200$^{\circ}C$, showed the value of $d_{33}$=273pC/N, $K_p$=0.60 $Q_m$=1585, ${\varepsilon}_r$=1454, density=7.917$g/cm^3$ and $tan{\delta}$=0.0064.

  • In this study, in order to develop low temperature sintering ceramics for ultrasonic vibrator, PNW-PMN-PZT system ceramics were manufactured with the amount of $CaCO_3$ addition and their piezoelectric, dielectric and microstructural characteristics were investigated. $CaCO_3$ addition to PNW-PMN-PZT basic composition was proved to be capable of sintering the ceramics at temperature below $1000^{\circ}C$ due to the effect of $Li_2CO_3-CaCO_3$ liquid phase. However, with increasing the amount of $CaCO_3$ addition, the second phase was appeared. As the results, electromechanical coupling coefficient (kp) and dielectric constant $(\epsilon_r)$ decreased. Taking into consideration electromechanical coupling coefficient (kp) of 0.49, mechanical quality factor (Qm) of 1396, dielectric constant $(\epsilon_r)$ of 1300 and density of $7.78[g/cm^2]$, it was concluded that the 0.25wt% $CaCO_3$ addition composition ceramics sintered at $920^{\circ}C$ was suitable for ultrasonic vibrator application.
