An Image Quality Evaluation Model for Optical Strip Signal-to-Noise Ratio in the Target Area of High Temperature Forgings

  • Under the time-varying temperature, the high-temperature radiation of forgings and the change of reflection characteristics of oxide skin on the surface of forgings lead to the difficulty of obtaining images to truly reflect the geometric characteristics of forgings. It is urgent to study the clear and reliable acquisition method of hot forging feature image under time-varying temperature to meet the requirements of visual measurement of hot geometric parameters of forgings. Based on this, this chapter first puts forward the quality evaluation method of forging feature image, which provides guarantee for the accurate evaluation of feature image quality. Furthermore, the factors that affect the image quality, such as the radiation characteristics of forgings and the photographic characteristics of cameras, are analyzed, and the imaging spectrum which can effectively suppress the radiation intensity of forgings is determined. Finally, aiming at the problem that the quality of image acquisition is difficult to guarantee due to the drastic change of radiation intensity of forgings under time-varying temperature, an image acquisition method based on minimum signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) based laser light intensity adaptation is proposed, which significantly improves the definition of feature light strips in forging images at high temperature, and finally realizes the clear acquisition of feature images of large-scale hot forging under time-varying temperature.

  • This study derives quality checking items in Building Mechanical Systems Design Criteria, and suggests quality criteria to review BIM models in the duct system of an air conditioning system for rule-based automatic checking. First, components for the duct system of an air conditioning system were reviewed, and the quality checking items were drawn from Building Mechanical Systems Design Criteria, through assessment according to object, attribute and relationship composing the BIM model. Second, quality checking types were derived, by analyzing the quality checking items and Rule set of the Solibri Model Checker. Finally, methods of algorithm functioning for checking the BIM models for mechanical systems in computers were drawn, and Elements to comprise the quality checking criteria (rule) were suggested. This study means that that checking items are derived from domestic criteria, and a way for the development process of determining quality checking criteria (rules) is suggested.

사출 조건이 사출품의 기계적 성질에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Discharge Condition on Mechanical properties of Injection Moldings)

  • In producing moldings by using an injection mold, several variables such as the metal mold and the condition of injection molding should be selected properly in order to obtain good quality of moldings. In this study, focussed are the mechanical properties of injection moldings, since many researches on injection have been focussed mainly on the molding quality, injection pressure, and bulk temperature but the properties of injection moldings have not been studied extensively. The mechanical properties of present injection moldings can be improved simply by changing the molding material and the injection conditon without changind the metal mold. To have the final products meet the specified molding quality and mechanical properties at the same time, the bulk temperature of injection, pressure variation, volumetric shrinkage, stress, and cooling should be analized by CAE(computer aided engineering) after injection mold design. In this paper, the effects of dischare condition on mechanical properties of injection moldings are studied by testing the moldings which are injected by varying injection conditions.

Experimental Studies on Submerged Arc Welding Process

  • The efficient application of any welding process depends on the understanding of associated process parameters influence on the weld quality. The weld quality includes the weld bead dimensions, temperature distribution, metallurgical phases and the mechanical properties. A detailed review on the experimental and numerical approaches to understand the parametric influence of a single wire submerged arc welding (SAW) and multi-wire SAW processes on the final weld quality is reported in two parts. The first part deals with the experimental approaches which explain the parametric influence on the weld bead dimensions, metallurgical phases and the mechanical properties of the SAW weldment. Furthermore, the studies related to statistical modeling of the present welding process are also discussed. The second part deals with the numerical approaches which focus on the conduction based, and heat transfer and fluid flow analysis based studies in the present welding process. The present paper is the first part.

Mechanical and Chemical Conditioning Effect on Field Drying Rate and Quality of Grass Hay

  • A field experiment was carried out to determine the effects of mechanical and chemical conditioning at mowing on field drying rate and quality of grass hay in 1996. Mower conditioner and/or chemical drying agent $(K_2CO_3)$ were used at different harvest stages (late boot, heading and bloom stages) for hastening hay-making. After field drying, square bales were made by hay baler, and the visual estimation and nutritive value of hay were evaluated after storing two months. In mower conditioning, the duration of field drying was shortened by 0.5 to 1 day compared with drying agent, and by 1 to 2 days compared with control. The drying matter loss of hay was reduced by late harvest and mechanical conditioning. The visual score (leafiness, green color, odor and softness), and acid detergent fiber (ADF), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), in vitro dry matter digestibllity (IVDMD), and relative feed value (RFV) of hay were improved with mechanical conditioning, but chemical alone had little effect on quality. The quality of hay harvested at bloom stage was much lower than that of hay harvested at late boot and heading stage. In conclusion, mower conditioning can enhance the field drying rate of grass hay, however the drying efficiency of chemical drying agent is very low. Also the effects of chemical/mechanical combined conditioning are very similar compared with mechanical conditioning alone. Harvesting at late boot to heading stage is recommended for the production of high quality hay.

  • 사람이 소리를 듣는 것은 다분히 감정적이고 주관적으로 이루어진다. 따라서 소음 측정의 척도로 주로 사용되는 dB(A)와 같은 청감을 고려한 수치로 표현하기 어렵기 때문에 때와 장소, 차량에 따라 주관적이고 사람의 감정에 맞는 주관적 척도가 요구된다. 즉, 평가하고자 하는 음질인자 항목들은 독립적 관계가 아닌 서로 상관관계의 특성을 고려하여 음질 평가를 수행해야 한다. 그러므로 인간의 청감에 가깝고 정확한 음질 평가를 위해서는 음질인자 별 다변량 분석이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 차량 주행 소음을 대상으로 특성인자간 상관관계를 고려해 시스템을 분석할 수 있는 마할라노비스 거리(Mahalanobis distance,MD)를 통해 음질 인덱스를 구축하고자 한다.

양질계수(Quality Factor)를 이용한 방진마스크 필터의 성능평가 (Performance of Respirator Filters Using Quality Factor (qF))

  • Most of manufacturers try to produce the most efficient filter for respirators with the lowest breathing resistance. Filter performance depends on low penetration, i.e., high efficiency (%), and low pressure drop ($mmH_2O$). This study was performed to evaluate performance of respirator filters by quality factor ($q_F$) and suggest the direction for improvement of respirator filters of good quality in Korea. Two mechanical filters, S and K made in Korea, three filtering facepieces, S made in China, C made in Korea and M made in USA, which were widely used in the workplace, were selected and tested efficiency and pressure drop in accordance with flow rate, using with Automated Filter Tester Model 8110 (TSI, USA). The best quality factor within the same respirator filter categories was $0.0672cm^{-1}\;H_2O$ for mechanical filter S, $0.0698cm^{-1}\;H_2O$ for filtering facepiece M at flow rate of 32Lpm. Mechanical filter S would be the best suitable during heavy work since qulity factors decrease less sharply than any others as increased flow rates. It was necessary for mechanical filter S to lower pressure drop without increasing efficiency, but mechanical filter K should be increased efficiency and decreased pressure drop. While filtering facepiece M had the best quality performance of three ones, Sand C should get much higher efficiency and lower pressure for better performance.

차량용 파워 시트 작동음의 감성 어휘 추출 및 주관적 음질 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Emotional Adjective Extraction and Subjective Evaluation of Sound Quality for Vehicle Power Seat)

  • In this study, emotional adjectives about the operating sound quality of the vehicle power seat are constructed, and the effectiveness of the emotional adjectives are verified by evaluating the operating sound quality. First, emotional adjectives were collected from the literature related to the automobile field and other sound qualities. A questionnaire was made using these adjectives. The questionnaire was designed to be able to select all adjectives that could express the operating noise of the power seat slide adjuster by applying the multiple- response method. Next, a subjective sound quality evaluation was conducted using the emotional adjectives. In the evaluation, we first recorded the operating noise for two power seats. Second, the subjective sound quality evaluation was performed on the recorded operating noise using a loudspeaker. Finally, through a statistical analysis on the sound quality evaluation results, the relationship between the semantic space and the preference score was verified, and the validity of the emotional adjectives was verified.

Effect of Electrolyte Filtration Accuracy on Electrochemical Machining Quality for Titanium Alloy

  • Electrochemical machining (ECM) is an effective manufacturing method for difficult-to-machine materials and is widely used in the precision manufacturing of aerospace components. In recent years, the requirements for the machining accuracy and surface integrity of ECM have become increasingly stringent. To further improve the machining quality, this work investigated the intricate laws between electrolyte filtration accuracy and machining quality. Electrolytes with different filtration accuracies were compared, and a numerical simulation was used to evaluate the change in temperature and bubble rate of the flow field in the machining area. Experiments were conducted on ECM of Ti-6Al-4V (TC4) alloy workpieces using electrolytes with different filtration accuracy. The workpiece machining accuracy and surface quality were analyzed, and the repetition accuracy of the workpiece was evaluated. The intricate laws between electrolyte filtration accuracy and machining quality were explored. It was found that when the electrolyte filtration accuracy is improved, so too is the machining quality of the ECM. However, once the filtration accuracy has reached a certain value, the machining quality has extremely limited improvement. By evaluating the repetition accuracy of processed workpieces in electrolytes with different filtration accuracies, it was found that when the filtration accuracy reaches a certain value, there is no positive correlation between the repetition accuracy and filtration accuracy. The result shows that, for the workpiece material and conditions considered in this paper, an electrolyte with 0.5㎛ filtration accuracy is suitable for the wide application of precision ECM.

The mower conditioner /chemical drying agent ($K_2CO_3$ 2% conditioning, $K_2CO_3$ 2% + conditioning and control) were treated at different harvest stages (late boot, heading and bloom stage) for hastening hay manufacture in 1996. After field dry, four square bales were made by hay baler, and the visual estimation and nutritive value of hay were evaluated after storing two months. The field drying rate of pasture plants was higher with delayed stage of harvest, and mechanical and mechanical + chemical, but chemical alone was very low. In mower conditioning, the duration of field dry was shortened by 0.5 to 1 day compared with $K_2CO_3$ and 1.5 to 2 days compared with control. The dry matter loss of hay was reduced by late harvest and mechanical, and mechanical + chemical, but the score by chemical alone was very low. The visual score (leafiness, green color, odor and softness) of hay after storage was high in mechanical and mechanical + chemical, but the score by chemical alone was very low. Nutritive value (ADF, NDF, digestibility, and relative feed value) of hay was also high with treatment of mechanical and mechanical + chemical, but the quality by chemical alone was similar compared with control. The quality of hay was very low when harvested at bloom stage. In conclusion, mower conditioning can enhance the field drying rate of orchardgrass dominant pasture plants, however the drying efficiency of chemical drying agent was very low. Harvesting at early heading to heading stage was recommened for manufacture of high quality hay.
