  • Heat transfer in linear motor driven stages for surface mounting device applications was investigated. A simple one-dimensional thermal resistance model was introduced. In order to reduce three-dimensional nature to one-dimensional, a few assumptions and simplifications were employed suitably. A good agreement with a finite element heat transfer analysis in temperature profile was obtained. For validation, the analysis was compared with the measurement with respect to motor driving power. Overall discrepancy was less than $7^{\circ}C$. The influence of two high thermal resistance parts, insulation sheet and thermal contact between the coil assembly and the mounting plate, was examined through the analysis. Additionally, the thermal resistance analysis was applied to another stage including an internal cooling-air passage, and was found available for this system as well. After validation, the cooling effect was surveyed in terms of motor power, and cooling-air flow rate.

  • We propose a novel application of random forest, a machine learning-based general classification algorithm, to analyze the influence of design attributes on the silicon-to-SPICE (S2S) gap. To improve modeling accuracy, we introduce magnification of learning data as well as randomization for the counting of design attributes to be used for each tree in the forest. From the automatically generated decision trees, we can extract the so-called importance and impact indices, which identify the most significant design attributes determining the S2S gap. We apply the proposed method to actual silicon data, and observe that the identified design attributes show a clear trend in the S2S gap. We finally unveil 10nm key fin-shaped field effect transistor (FinFET) structures that result in a large S2S gap using the measurement data from 10nm test vehicles specialized for model-hardware correlation.

  • This paper proposed a simple and helpful analysis model of voltage variation in order to predict the voltage variation at PCC (Point of Common Coupling), when a wind turbine is connected in an isolated grid. The PCC voltage flucuates when the wind turbine outputs active power to an isolated grid. This voltage variation is proportional to the product of the line impedance from the ideal generator to the PCC and the wind turbine output current. And It is different according as where wind turbine is connected. To solve the problem of voltage variation, this paper proposed the reactive power control. To verify the proposed analysis model, this paper utilized PSCAD/EMTDC Simulation and the field measurement data of the voltage variation during the wind power generation.

  • Tidal regime change with general hydrolic condition change is examined, according to Garolim Tidal Power Plant (TPP) operation. Numerical model has been developed for the Yellow and East China Seas region, in order to consider the tidal regime change by the TPP operation. The changes of tidal elevation and tidal current inside the Garolim bay are also investigated in details, along with examining the change of the tidal flat area with operation. The field measurement for the tide and current have been carried out for the validation of the numerical model and for understanding the state of current system in the present state.

  • Occupant injuries are always possible in a rollover accident, one of the major accidents in a bus. Thus the structure of body frame should have sufficient strength to protect passengers under accidental loads,. ECE(Economic Commission for Europe) regulation No.66 prescribes that residual space shall be preserved in the passenger compartment during and after the structure has been subjected to the prescribed rollover test. Rollover test on a bus section was completed according to the regulation. The coordinates of body section before and after rollover were measured, and it was checked that the structure still complied with the requirements of residual space. Direct measurement on a bus is difficult because of its large size. Thus photogrammetry by photographing and 3 dimensional digital modeling was introduced, and the coordinates of each point were measured through this method.

  • Various kinds of accessories(e.g., clock, radio, automatic door locks, alarm devices, etc.) or unit components (e.g., black box, navigation system, alarm, private audio, etc.) require dark current even when the vehicle power is turned off. However, accessories or unit components can be the causes of excessive dark current generation. It results in battery discharge and the vehicle's failure to start. Therefore, immediate detection of abnormal dark current and response are very important for a successful repair job. In this paper, we can increase the maintenance efficiency by presenting a standardized diagnostic process for the measurement of the dark current and the existing problem. As a result of the absence of a system to block the dark current in a vehicle, diagnosis and repair were performed immediately by using a standardized dark current diagnostic process.

  • The object of this paper is to investigte the gate controlled diode structure for ionic concentration measurement. It includes device fabrication, characterization, device physics and modeling of the gate controlled diode structure. The differences of turn on voltages and surface generation currents in the (100) and (111) silicon crystallographic orientation of the sample device were observed. Therefore the dependence of these two factors of the silicon crystallographic orientation was investigated. It was observed that drifts arose after extended immersion of the sample device in acid or base solutions. The surface generation-recombination velocity of both (100) and (111) increased. The increase in the interfacial traps for both surface, determined by the turn on voltage was directly proportional to the surface generation-recombination velocity increase.

  • This work has suggested corrugation beam as a new structure for mechanical resonators. Micro beam resonators based on 3C-SiC films which have two side corrugations along the length of beams were simulated by finite-element modeling and compared to a flat rectangular beam with the same dimension. With the dimension of $36\times12\times0.5{\mu}m^3$, the flat cantilever has resonant frequency of 746 kHz. Meanwhile, this frequency reaches 1.252 MHz with the corrugated cantilever which has the same dimension with flat type but corrugation width of $6{\mu}m$ and depth of $0.4{\mu}m$. It is expected that mechanical resonators with corrugations will be very helpful for the research of sensing devices with high-resolution, high-performance oscillators and filters in wireless communications as well as measurement in basic physics.

  • This paper deals with HVDC simulation. And the purpose of this paper is to reproduce measurements recorded at HVDC site and to verify the control gains and control actions. In this paper, the target of simulation study is Cheju-Haenam HVDC system. Because Cheju-Haenam HVDC system include analogue controller and digital controller, the detailed digital model considered nonlinear characteristics of analogue controllers is development for high accurate firing and control action. Finally the simulation results which is simulated by PSCAD/EMTDC is compared with measurement signals.
