Evolution of the unsteady three-dimensional tip vortex in the wake field of a rectangular NACA 0012 hydrofoil in pitching motion is investigated. Measurements were made in CWC using PIV. A hydrofoil has an aspect ratio of 5 with chord length of 1 Oem. Pitching angle and mean angle of attack were set to $\pm$$5^{\circ}$ and $10^{\circ}$, respectively. Frequency of oscillation was varied from 0.1 Hz to 1 Hz in order to study the effect of unsteadiness imposed by various frequencies, which correspond to the reduced frequency of K=0.1, 0.21, 0.52 and 1.05. Reynolds number based on chord length and free-stream velocity was $30\times$$10^{4}$ Phase-averaging technique was employed. Unsteadiness and variation of the size and characteristics of tip vortex at different reduced frequency were discussed.
This paper describes the macroscopic behavior and atomization characteristics of the high-pressure gasoline swirl injector in direct-injection gasoline engine. The global spray behavior of fuel injector was visualized by shadowgraph technique. The atomization characteristics of gasoline spray such as mean diameter and mean velocity of droplets were measured by the phase Doppler particle analyzer system. The macroscopic visualization and experiment of particle measurement on the fuel spray were investigated at 7 and 10 MPa of injection pressure under different spray cone angle. The results of this work show that the geometry of injector was more dominant over the macroscopic characteristics of spray than the fuel injection pressure and injection duration. As for the atomization characteristics, the increase of injection pressure resulted in the decrease of fuel droplet diameter and the atomization characteristics differed as to the spray cone angle. The most droplets had under $25{\mu}m$ diameter and for the large droplets(upper $40{\mu}m$) as the spray grew the atomization presses were very slow. Comparison results between the measured droplet distribution and the droplet distribution functions revealed that the measured droplet distribution is very closed to the Normal distribution function and Nukiyama-Tanasawa's function.
The local structural and thermodynamical properties of blends A-B/H of a diblock copolymer A-B and a homopolymer H are studied using the polymer reference interaction site model (RISM) integral equation theory with the mean-spherical approximation closure. The random phase approximation (RPA)-like static scattering function is derived and the interaction parameter is obtained to investigate the phase transition behaviors in A-B/H blends effectively. The dependences of the microscopic interaction parameter and the macrophase-microphase separation on temperature, molecular weight, block composition and segment size ratio of the diblock copolymer, density, and concentration of the added homopolymer, are investigated numerically within the framework of Gaussian chain statistics. The numerical calculations of site-site interchain pair correlation functions are performed to see the local structures for the model blends. The calculated phase diagrams for A-B/H blends from the polymer RISM theory are compared with results by the RPA model and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Our extended formal version shows the different feature from RPA in the microscopic phase separation behavior, but shows the consistency with TEM qualitatively. Scaling relationships of scattering peak, interaction parameter, and temperature at the microphase separation are obtained for the molecular weight of diblock copolymer. They are compared with the recent data by small-angle neutron scattering measurements.

Flow characteristics of the inflow ahead of a rotating propeller attached to a container ship model were investigated using a two-frame PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry) technique. Ensemble-averaged mean velocity fields were measured at four different blade phases. The mean velocity fields show the acceleration of inflow due to the rotating propeller and the velocity deficit in the near-wake region. The axial velocity distribution of inflow in the upper plane of propeller is quite different from that in the lower plane due to the thick hull boundary layer. The propeller inflow also shows asymmetric axial velocity distribution in the port and starboard side. As the inflow moves toward the propeller, the effect of phase angle variation of propeller blade on the inflow becomes dominant. In the upper plane above the propeller axis the inflow has very low axial velocity and large turbulent kinetic energy, compared with the lower plane. The boundary layer developed along the bottom surface of stern hull forms a strong shear layer affecting vortex structure of the propeller near-wake.

Experiments have been carried out to study the atomisation characteristics of superheated liquid(water) jet injected into the atmosphere through a single-hole nozzle. In present experi-mental range, superheated liquid jet has been observed to be atomised in two-phase effluent type; that is, spray formed by the bubble nucleation in the nozzle. In case of liquid injection through a long nozzle (L/D=29.09), the critical superheat for occurrence of two-phase effluent atomisa-tion can be determined from sudden change of spray angle. Sauter mean diameter of the spray droplets decreases as the degree of superheat increases. For the short nozzle (L/D=7.27), mean diameter increases with the injection pressure, while it decreases for the long nozzle; however for the long nozzle the effect of injection pressure is not significant compared with the short nozzle. For the short nozzle the uniformity of drop size distribution increases with increasing the degree of superheat, but for the long nozzle the effect of superheat on the uniformity is not appreciable.

The flow structure of particles for two different injectors has been investigated experimentally by means of a Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer(PDPA). Two injectors used in the present study are the pipe and contraction nozzle. Particles of 0.8${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, 30${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, 60 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, and 100${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ diameter were injected with a constant mass loading ratio of 0.01 and a Reynolds number of 13200. The initial mean velocity and turbulent intensity of particle are strongly influenced by the particle size and the injector geometry. The flow angles of particle at nozzle exit are sensitive to the particle size rather than the injector geometry.
Enthalpy transport in a pulse tube was investigated by two-dimensional analysis of mass. momentum an energy equations of the gas as well as energy conservation of the tube wall. The mean temperature of the gas and the tube wall was obtained directly by assuming that the outer surface of a pules tibe wall is adiabatic. Axial profile of mean temperature is small. but it deviates significantly from linear profile when the dimensionless frequency is large. Effect of operating frequency. tube wall thickness, velocity ratio and velocity phase angle between both ends of a pulse tube on net enthalpy flow were shown.

Dimethyl Ether(DME) is an alternative fuel for diesel engine, it is renewable and offers potential reductions in emissions. This work was conducted to figure out the macroscopic behavior and the atomization characteristics of DME using a common-rail injection system. The macroscopic behavior was visualized with the spray visualization system composed of a Nd;YAG laser and an ICCD camera. The atomization characteristics were investigated in terms of axial mean velocity, Sauter mean diameter(SMD) and droplet distributions obtained from a phase Doppler particle analyzer(PDPA) system. In this study, it was revealed that the macroscopic behavior and the atomization characteristics of DME are similar compared with commercial diesel fuel. However, DME fuel has a shorter spray tip penetration and a small SMD due to the effect of evaporation characteristics.
Objective : The purposes of this study was to analyze the effects of the stirrup length fitted to the rider's lower limb length and it's impact on less skilled riders during trot in equestrian events. Methods : Participants selected as subjects consisted of less skilled riders(n=5, mean age: $40.02{\pm}10.75yrs$, mean heights: $169.77{\pm}2.08cm$, mean body weights: $67.65{\pm}7.76kg$, lower limb lengths: $97.26{\pm}2.35cm$, mean horse heights: $164.00{\pm}5.74cm$ with 2 type of stirrups lengths(lower limb ratio 74.04%, and 79.18%) during trot. The variables analyzed consisted of the displacement for Y axis and Z axis(head, and center of mass[COM]) with asymmetric index, trunk front-rear angle(consistency index), lower limb joint(Right hip, knee, and ankle), and average vertical forces of horse rider during 1 stride in trot. The 4 camcorder(HDR-HC7/HDV 1080i, Spony Corp, Japan) was used to capture horse riding motion at a rate of 60 frames/sec. Raw data was collected from Kwon3D XP motion analysis package ver 4.0 program(Visol, Korea) during trot. Results : The movements and asymmetric index didn't show significant difference at head and COM, Also, 74.04% stirrups lengths in trunk tilting angle showed significant difference with higher consistency than that of 79.18% stirrups lengths. Hip and knee joint angle showed significant difference with more extended posture than that of 74.04% stirrups lengths during trot. Ankle angle of 79.18% stirrups length showed more plantarflexion than that of 74.04% stirrups lengths. Average vertical force of rider showed significant difference with higher force at 79.18% stirrups lengths than that of 74.04% stirrups lengths during stance phase. Conclusion : When considering the above, 74.04% stirrups length could be effective in impulse reduction with consistent posture in rather less skilled horse riders.
