LED arrays with pixel numbers of $3{\times}3$, $4{\times}4$, and $5{\times}5$ have been studied in this paper in order to enhance the optical output power and decrease heat dissipation of an AlGaInP-based light emitting diode display device (pixel size of $280{\times}280{\mu}m$) fabricated by micro-opto-electro-mechanical systems. Simulation results showed that the thermal resistances of the $3{\times}3$, $4{\times}4$, $5{\times}5$ arrays were $52^{\circ}C/W$, $69.7^{\circ}C/W$, and $84.3^{\circ}C/W$. The junction temperature was calculated by the peak wavelength shift method, which showed that the maximum value appears at the center pixel due to thermal crosstalk from neighboring pixels. The central temperature would be minimized with $40{\mu}m$ pixel pitch and $150{\mu}m$ substrate thickness as calculated by thermal modeling using finite element analysis. The modeling can be used to optimize parameters of highly integrated AlGaInP-based LED arrays fabricated by micro-opto-electro-mechanical systems technology.

This study covers the nonlinear analysis of anchor head for high strength prestressing strand and presents necessary process in improving the performance of anchor head. The surface of wedge for strand is contacted to the surface of the wedge hole on anchor head when it is fitted into the wedge hole, and the contact condition changes according to the level of load applied through the wedge. In order to analyze detailed behavior, nonlinear material model and contact element were used in analysis. It was found from the analysis that the behavior of anchor head is affected by the interaction with the wedge contacted so that the wedge in FE model should have the same figure as the actual object. Circular array of wedge hole presents better stress distribution than layer array even though the small difference in maximum deformation. Increment of thickness of anchor head and distance of wedge hole also improve the performance of anchor head.

The development of a compact and high performance MWIR thermal imaging sensor based on the SOFRADIR 320${\times}$240 element IRCCD detector is described. The sensor has 20 magnification zoom optics with the maximum 40$^{\circ}$${\times}$30$^{\circ}$ of super wide field of view and 7.6 cycles/mrad of resolving power with the operation of attached micro-scanning system. In order to correct nonuniformities of detector arrays, we have proposed a multi-point correction method using defocusing of the optics and we have acquired the highest quality images. The MRTD of our system shows good results below 0.05K at spatial frequency 1 cycles/mrad at narrow field of view. Experimental data and obtained performances are presented and discussed.

The purpose of this study was to compare and analyze the stress distribution and displacement of the fully bone anchored bridge and implant-supported overdenture in edentulous mandible on certain conditions such as number of implants, different design of superstructure. Three dimensional analysis was used and nine kinds of models designed for this study. FEM models were created using commercial software[$Rhinoceros^{(R)}$ (Ver. 1.0 Robert McNeel & Associates, USA)], and analyze using commercial software [Cosmos/$Works^{TM}$(Ver. 4.0 Structural Research & Analysis Corp., US A)]. A vertical load and $45^{\circ}$ oblique load of 17kgf were applied at the left 1st. molar. The results were as follows : (1) In the group of OVD, the displacement was reduced as increasing the number of fixture under vertical loading but there was no specific difference in Von Mises stress. Under oblique loading, the displacement was same at the vertical loading but Von Mises stress was reduced in order of OVD-3, OVD-4, OVD-2. But, bending moment reduced according to increasing the number of fixture. (2) In the group of FBAB, under vertical and oblique loading, the magnitude of Von Mises stress and displacement reduced according to increasing the number of fixtures. FBAB-4 and FBAB-5 showed similar score and distribution, but FBAB-6 showed lower value relatively. (3) In cantilever design, the maximum displacement reduced under vertical loading but increased under oblique loading. However, von mises stresses on fixtures increased under vertical and oblique loading. (4) In comparing OVD-group with FBAB-group, FBAB showed low magnitude of displacement in respect of oblique loading. However OVD-group was more stable in respect of stress distribution.

In this paper, a new technique is proposed for obtaining the error probabilities of the VSB(vestigial sideband modulation) signal in the presence of the cochannel interference and frequency-selective fading channel. For the receivers, a suboptimal matched filter receiver and the MLSE(maximum likelihood sequence estimation) receiver, which is known to be optimal on the fading channel, are considered. First, for the matched filter receiver, the distributions of the random variables, which determine the SER(symbol error rate) are obtained by decomposing the multi-path fading channel into Rayleigh distributed main path and Gaussian distributed remained path channels. the random variables mean the energy of the main path and subpath respecitively, and SER can be calculated from the distribution of them. Next, for the case of the MLSE receover, it is found that the random variables are expressed as a function of integrals. In order to obtain the distribution for the random variables, we expanded each element of integrals with the KL(Karhunen-Loeve) transformation. And it is derived that the distributions for the transformed random variables are given by a sum of chi-square distributions. Finally, we calculated the error rate derived formula on the two-ray fading channel, which is one of widely used models for the frequency-selective fading channel. From the numerical results, it is found that for the matched filer receiver, performance degradation is significant, while the performance degradation at the MLSE receiver is insignificant on the frequency-selective fading channel. However, in case of cochannel interference environment, the error rateis found to increase significantly both at the matched filter and at the MLSE receiver.

This paper proposes a new composite deckplate system reinforced with inverted triangular truss girders(called 'D Deck'), which does not require the use of temporary supports at construction stage. The proposed system retains increased stiffness and strength while keeping the absolute floor height change to a minimum level and can be utilized as floor systems of various types beam members such as the conventional wide-flange and U-shaped composite beams. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed system, five specimens with a span of 5.5 m were fabricated and tested under field loading conditions consisting of several intermediate steps. The load-deflection curves of each specimen were plotted and compared with the nonlinear three-dimensional finite element analysis results. The comparison showed that the effective load sharing between the truss girders and floor deck occurs and the maximum deflection under construction stage loading is well below the limit estimated by the provisions in Korea Building Code.
Reinforced concrete (RC) structures consist of two different materials: concrete and steel bar. The stress transfer behaviour between the two materials through bond plays an important role in the load-carrying capacity of RC structures, especially when they subject to lateral load such as blast and seismic load. Therefore, bond and slip between concrete and reinforcement bar will affect the response of RC structures under such loads. However, in most numerical analyses of blast-induced structural responses, the perfect bond between concrete and steel bar is often assumed. The main reason is that it is very difficult to model bond slip in the commercial finite element software, especially in hydrodynamic codes. In the present study, a one-dimensional slide line contact model in LS-DYNA for modeling sliding of rebar along a string of concrete nodes is creatively used to model the bond slip between concrete and steel bars in RC structures. In order to model the bond slip accurately, a new approach to define the parameters of the one-dimensional slide line model from common pullout test data is proposed. Reliability and accuracy of the proposed approach and the one-dimensional slide line in modelling the bond slip between concrete and steel bar are demonstrated through comparison of numerical results and experimental data. A case study is then carried out to investigate the bond slip effect on numerical analysis of blast-induced responses of a RC column. Parametric studies are also conducted to investigate the effect of bond shear modulus, maximum elastic slip strain, and damage curve exponential coefficient on blast-induced response of RC columns. Finally, recommendations are given for modelling the bond slip in numerical analysis of blast-induced responses of RC columns.

In order to evaluate the effect of dry-wet treatment on well developed tidal flats along the complex coastal line in the western part of Korean Peninsula, we adopted a finite element tidal hydrodynamic simulation model, ADCIRC incorporating newly suggested dry-wet option and applied it to Chonbuk coastal area and Keum river estuary. Model comparison with observed current data by RMS error in the Chonbuk area shows very good agreement within 1cm/sec of tidal velocity difference and 3% of error to maximum tidal currents. However there is not seen any significant advantages in dry-wet treatment. For the tidal volume tests in the Keum river estuary, the differences are satisfied within 5% nevertheless of dry-wet treatment but in a near cross section it marks over 20%. However both results are almost same in tidal residual tests. Thus it can be concluded that dry-wet option is not always necessary in the simulation of long-term dispersion analysis.
Since 2001, a series of five irradiation test campaigns for atomized U-Mo dispersion fuel rods, KOMO-1, -2, -3, -4, and -5, has been conducted at HANARO (Korea) in order to develop high performance low enriched uranium dispersion fuel for research reactors. The KOMO irradiation tests provided valuable information on the irradiation behavior of U-Mo fuel that results from the distinct fuel design and irradiation conditions of the rod fuel for HANARO. Full size U-Mo dispersion fuel rods of 4-5 $g-U/cm^3$ were irradiated at a maximum linear power of approximately 105 kW/m up to 85% of the initial U-235 depletion burnup without breakaway swelling or fuel cladding failure. Electron probe microanalyses of the irradiated samples showed localized distribution of the silicon that was added in the matrix during fuel fabrication and confirmed its beneficial effect on interaction layer growth during irradiation. The modifications of U-Mo fuel particles by the addition of a ternary alloying element (Ti or Zr), additional protective coatings (silicide or nitride), and the use of larger fuel particles resulted in significantly reduced interaction layers between fuel particles and Al.
The aim of this study attempted to verify the possibility of bioethanol production using wasted medium density fiberboard (wMDF). In order to produce bioethanol from wood cellulosic materials must be carried out the process of pretreatment, saccharification, fermentation and distillation. First, the wMDF was pretreated using sodium chlorite and pretreated wMDF was prepared to 8% slurry and then slurry was saccharified with the commercial enzyme (Cellic CTec3). The fermentable sugar and pH of saccharified substrate were about 5.5% glucose and 4.4, respectively. Herein we compared the results of ethanol yield according to the nutrients added or without addition to increase ethanol yield. Ethanol fermentation was finished in about 24 hours, but it was delayed in experimental group without nutrients. Ethanol content and fermentation ratio of the final fermented mash prepared by utilizing jar fermenter was 25.40 g/L and 86.64%, respectively. At this time, the maximum ethanol productivity was confirmed as 1.78 g/Lh (ethanol content 21.38 g/L, 12 h), and the overall ethanol productivity was 1.05 g/Lh (ethanol content 25.27 g/L, 24 h). Using fermented liquid we could produced bioethanol 95.37% by continuous distillator packed with copper element in laboratory scale. These results show that wMDF has a potential valuable for bioethanol production.
