  • The ultrasonic method, which is well known as nondestructive test method, is widely used to evaluate the material damage due to degradation. However, this method is just used for measuring the crack size and the thickness loss of the tube. The purpose of this study is to investigate the application of the ultrasonic technique for the evaluation of marine diesel engine exhaust valve and to suggest the correlation between the ultrasonic characteristics and valve degradation. From the evaluation of the results obtained, the technique of using the ultrasonic property was founds to be a efficient method to degree of marine diesel engine exhaust valve by nondestructive test.

  • The partial discharge testing is widely used in insulation property measurement because it gives low stress to high voltage equipment which is undertaken tests. Therefore it is very useful method compare to previous destructive methods and effective diagnosis method in power transformer that requires live-line diagnosis. But partial discharges have very complex characteristics of discharge pattern so it is required continuous research to development of precise analysis method. In recent, the study of partial discharge is carrying out discover of initial defect of power equipment through condition diagnosis and system development of degradation diagnosis using HFPD(High Frequency Partial Discharge) detection. In this study, simulated transformer is manufactured and HFPD occurred from transformer is measured with broad band antenna in real time, the degradation grade of transformer is analyzed through produced patterns in simulated transformer according to applied voltages.

전기화학적 재활성화 분극시험에 의한 터빈부재의 열화손상 평가 (Degradation Damage Evaluation for Turbine Structural Components by Electrochemical Reactivation Polarization Test)

  • The extent of materials deterioration can be evaluated accurately by mechanical test such as impact test or creep test. But it is almost impossible to extract a large test specimen from in-service components. Thus material degradation evaluation by non-destructive method is earnestly required. In this paper, the material degradation for virgin and several aged materials of a Cr-Mo-V steel, which is an candidated as structural material of the turbine casing components for electric power plant, is nondestructively evaluated by reactivation polarization testing method. And, the results obtained from the test are compared with those in small punch(SP) tests recommended as a semi-nondestructive testing method using miniaturized specimen. In contrast to the aged materials up to 1,000hrs which exhibit the degradation behaviors with increased ${\Delta}[DBTT]_{SP}$, the improvement of mechanical property can be observed on the 2,000hrs and 3,000hrs aged materials. This is because of the softening of material due to the carbide precipitation, the increase of ferritic structures and the recovery of dislocation microstructure by long-time heat treatment. The reactivation rates($I_R/I_{Crit},\;Q_R/Q_{Crit}$) calculated by reactivation current densityt ($I_R$) and charge($Q_R$) in the polarization curves exhibit a good correlation with ${\Delta}[DBTT]_{SP}$ behaviors.

  • Concrete has been recognized as a material which is resistant to high temperatures, but chemicophysical property of concrete is changed by the high temperature. So, mechanical properties of concrete may be reduced. So, concrete at high temperature is evaluated mechanical properties for safety inspection. However, research of ultrasonic method is not much. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to NDT(non-destructive test) of 30, 70, 110MPa concrete exposed high temperature using ultrasonic pulse velocity.

  • In the periodic surveillance material test for the spacer component of fuel channel assembly in CANDU, a microstructural characterization analysis is required in addition to the mechanical property evaluation test. In this study, detailed microstructure analysis and simple mechanical property evaluation of archive spacer parts were conducted to indirectly support the surveillance test and assist in the study of spacer material degradation. We investigated the microstructural characteristics of the spacer garter spring coil through comparative analysis with the plate material. The main microstructure characteristics of the garter spring coil X-750 are represented by the fine grain size distribution, the ordering phase distribution developed inside the matrix, the high dislocation density inside the grains, and the arrangement of coarse carbides. In addition, the yield strength of the garter spring coil X-750 was indirectly evaluated to be approximately 1 GPa. We also established an analytical method to elucidate the microstructural evolution of the radioactive spacer garter spring coil X-750 based on Canadian research experiences. Finally, we confirmed the measurement technique for helium bubble formation through TEM examination on the helium implanted X-750 material.

  • Safety diagnosis of various structural components and facilities is indispensable for preventing catastrophic failure of material by time-dependent and environment accelerating degradation. Also, this diagnosis of operating components should be done periodically for safe maintenance and economical repair. However, conventional standard methods for mechanical properties have the problems of bulky specimen, destructive procedure and complex procedure of specimen sampling. So, a non-destructive and simple mechanical testing method using small specimen is needed. Therefore, an advanced indentation technique was developed as a potential method for non-destructive testing of in-field structures. This technique measures indentation load-depth curve during indentation and analyzes the mechanical properties related to deformation such as yield strength, tensile strength and work-hardening index. In this paper, we characterized the tensile properties including yield and tensile strengths of the V-modified Cr-Mo steels in petro-chemical and thermo-electrical plants. And also, the effects of hydrogen-assisted degradation of the V-modified Cr-Mo steels were analyzed in terms of work-hardening index and yield ratio.

  • PT of epoxy mold type have tendency to occur dielectric breakdown in high voltage system. These are using for measurement of voltage or protection of system and application voltage is 25.8kV. Therefore, for improving a lots of problems like as partial discharge, we had analyze on the destroyed Epoxy molded type PT and processing of production. As a results, we concluded that the reason of dielectric breakdown was defect of processing and degradation of insulation by electrical stress. In this work, We presented a method of solution in processing of production. which is reduction of the PO which was occurred at the insulation material. so we must many try to remove faults, these problems are mainly to winding methods of 1st coil. the other side, Reformation of 1st coil improved property of PD and we could prove it with experiments.

재료 비선형과 연속체 손상역학을 고려한 복합 적층판의 강도 예측 (Strength Prediction on Composite Laminates Including Material Nonlinearity and Continuum Damage Mechanics)

  • 이 논문에서는 복합 적층판의 점진적 파손해석 기법을 개발하고 검증하였다. 강도 및 강성 예측의 정확성을 높이기 위해 재료 비선형 효과와 연속체 손상역학을 동시에 고려하였다. 파손 시작점과 성장을 예측하기 위한 식으로 Hashin의 판별식이 사용되었으며, 파손 모드는 수지인장/전단, 섬유 인장의 2가지 파손모드를 고려하였다. 비선형 탄성 및 점탄성의 구성방정식을 고려한 평형을 계산하기 위해 Newton-Raphson 방법이 사용되었다. 실험을 통해 얻어진 복합재료 단층의 물성을 이용하여 노치가 없는 시편에 인장력을 가했을 때 예상되는 적층복합재의 강도 및 변형률을 예측하였다. 이 경우 선형 물성과 저하계수만을 고려하여 예측된 강성/강도보다 실험결과에 근사하게 나타남을 확인하였다.
