The objective of this paper is to design a force feedback controller for bilateral control of a master-slave manipulator system using adaptive fuzzy sliding mode control. In a bilateral control system, the motion of the master device is followed by slave the one. While the force applied to the slave is reflected on the master. In this paper a proposed controller applied to the system. Adding a switching control term to the input robustness is improved. Also the knowledge of the system dynamics is not needed. The computer simulation results show the performance of the proposed adaptive fuzzy sliding mode controller.
This paper shows the development of remote control system for manipulators which consists of PHANToM Device as a master, Samsung FARA robot as a slave and TCP/IP based LAN fortheir Communication. This work includes the motion mapping between the master and the slave, Generation of virtual viscosity force preventing operator's unwilled action and 3D remote control simulators for the stable operation of the remote control system, etc. The remote control implementation has been performed and the results shows that the developed system can allow the operator to effectively control the manipulator.
In this paper, the stability analysis for the bilateral control of tele-manipulator is considered. Two-port network model is used to describe the tele-manipulator system. The stable conditions are derived using impedance matrix and passive network theory for two different types of bilateral control scheme. It is also shown that such conditions can be succefully applied to the n-d.o.f tele-manipulator system in which the kinematics and dynamics of master and slave manipulators are different.
We introduce a piece of special-purpose equipment for responding to disasters that has a dual-arm manipulator consisting of six-axis multi joints, and a master-slave operating system controlled by a wearable joystick for intuitive and convenient operation. However, due to the complexity and diversity of a disaster environment, training and suitable training means are needed to improve the interaction between the driver and equipment. Therefore, in this paper, a system that can improve the operator's immersion in the training simulation is proposes, this system is implemented in a virtual environment. The implemented system consists of a cabin installed with the master-slave operation system, a motion platform, visual and sound systems, as well as a real-time simulation device. This whole system was completed by applying various techniques such as a statistical mapping method, inverse kinematics, and a real-time physical model. Then, the implemented system was evaluated from a point of view of the appropriateness of the mapping method, inverse kinematics, the feasibility for real-time simulations of the physical environment through some task mode.

To handle the high level radioactive materials such a spent fuel, the master-slave manipulators (MSM) are widely used as a remote handling device in nuclear facilities such as the hot cell with sealed and shielded space. In this paper, the Digital Mockup which simulates the remote operation of the Advanced Conditioning Process(ACP) is developed. Also, the workspace and the motion of the slave manipulator, as well as, the remote operation task should be analyzed. The process equipment of ACP and Maintenance/Handling Device are drawn in 3D CAD models using IGRIP. Modeling device of manipulator is assigned with various mobile attributes such as a relative position, kinematics constraints, and a range of mobility, The 3D graphic simulator using the external input device of space ball displays the movement of manipulator. To connect the external input device to the graphic simulator, the interface program of external input device with 6 DOF is deigned using the Low Level Tele-operation Interface(LLTI). The experimental result shows that the developed simulation system gives much-improved human interface characteristics and shows satisfactory response characteristics in terms of synchronization speed. This should be useful for the development of work's education system in the virtual environment.

A hand controller in teleoperation is a man-machine interface device that provides real-time interaction between a human operator at control site and a slave manipulator at remote site. In this paper, we examine the design issure related to various types of hand controllers in use. Emphasis is placed on bilateral hand controllers and their design parameters. We describe the design of a new 6 degree-of-freedom universal force-reflecting hand controller to control a remote Schilling Titan manipulator. This hand controller allows the operstor to maintain spatial corresponence in remote manipulative operation and fell a sense of contact with the environment. Finally, we demonstrate the graphic simulation of the hand controller to verify its design characteristics.

This paper presents a rehabilitation exercise system which utilizes a 6 DOF robot as a motion generator. This system was proposed for a stroke patient or a patient who has hemiplegia. A master-slave system was designed to exercise either paralysis or abnormal limb by using normal limb motion. The study on the human body was applied to calculate the motion range of elbows and shoulders. In addition, a force-torque sensor was applied to the slave robot to estimate the rehabilitation extent of the patient. Therefore, the stability of the rehabilitation robot could be improved. By using the rehabilitation robot. the patients could exercise by themselves without assistance. In conclusion, the proposed system was verified by computer simulations and system experiment.

In this study, the maintenance process by the servo manipulator has been developed for the parts of the equipment, which we unable to reach out by the Master-Slave Manipulator(MSM) in a hot cell. To do this, a virtual mock-up is implemented using the iか prototyping technology. Using this mock-up, the workspace of the manipulators in the hot cell and the operator's view through the wall-mounted lead glass have been analyzed. In addition, the path planning of the servo manipulator using the collision detection function of the virtual mock-up has been established. From these, the maintenance process for the parts of the equipment, which are located at the outside of the MSM's workspace using the servo manipulator has been proposed and verified through the graphic simulation. It is revealed that the proposed remote maintenance process of the equipment can effectively be used in the real hot cell operation. It is also believed that the implemented virtual mock-up of the hot cell can effectively be applied in analyzing the various hot cell operation and enhancing the reliability and safety in a hot cell remote handling for the spent fuel management.
A teleoperated manipulator system has been developed for remote handling of the spent fuel bundles. A heavy-duty power manipulator with high reduction ratio joints is used for the slave manipulator in the developed system since the handling tasks of the spent fuel bundles need power. Also, the universal type master manipulator, which has force reflecting capability, is used for precise remote manipulation. The power manipulators so frequently occur the control input saturation that the precise control performances are not achieved due to the windup phenomenon. An advanced bilateral control scheme compensating for the saturation is applied to the teleoperated manipulator system. The validity of the developed system is verified by the grid cutting and fuel transportation tasks from the mockup spent fuel bundle.

This paper describes the development of a robotic maintenance system for use in a maintenance operation of the nozzle dam in a water chamber of a steam generator at the Kori nuclear power plant in Korea. The robotic maintenance system was designed to minimize the personnel exposure to a hazardous radioactive environment. This robotic maintenance system is operated by a teleoperated control which was designed to perform the nozzle dam maintenance tasks in a remote manner without endangering the human workers. Specific maintenance tasks involve the transportation, insertion, and removal of nozzle dams in a water chamber inside a steam generator via a narrow man-way entrance port. The developed robotic maintenance system has two major subsystems: a two degrees of freedom guiding device acting as the main guiding arm and a master-slave manipulator with a kinematic dissimilarity. The mechanical design considerations, control system, and capabilities of the robotic maintenance system are presented. Finally, a graphical representation of the nozzle dam maintenance processes in a simulated work environment are also demonstrated.
