A noncontact distance and dimension measurement system for remote handling in hostile environment (극한환경 원격조작을 위한 거리측정시스템 개발)

  • Spent nuclear fuel is very dangerous substance emitting strong ionizing radiation which is harmful to human body. The remote handling of spent nuclear fuel is essential because people cannot access this substance without protecting radiation. To handle highly radioactive material or nuclear waste, many kinds of teleoperators such as master slave manipulator, electro mechanical manipulator, servo manipulator, mobile robot was developed. The distance and dimension of target object cannot be measured easily when highly radioactive material is handled by teleoperator because one should use lead glass or TV camera and monitor to protect radiation and see target object. During experiments on the remote handling of spent nuclear fuel by electro mechanical manipulator, we often felt that a distance and dimension measurement system is necessary to handle the objects which is in the highly radioactive environment, so we developed a system which is appropriate for this purpose.

  • The computer network plays an important role in modern digital controllers within a safety system of a nuclear power plant. For the reliable and realtime data communication between controllers, this paper proposes a modified high-reliable MVB(multi-function vehicle bus) as a main control network for a safety system of a nuclear power plant. The proposed network supports the state-based communication in order to ensure the deterministic communication latency, and very fast network recovery when the bus master fails compare to the standard MVB. This paper also shows the implementation results using a FPGA-based testbed.

  • Immersive virtual reality (VR) for the manufacturing planning helps to shorten the planning times as well as to improve the quality of planning results. However, VR equipment is expensive, both in terms of development efforts and device. Engineers also spend time to manually repair erroneous 3-D shape because of imperfect translation between 3-D engineering CAD model and VR system format. In this paper a method is proposed to link 3-D engineering CAD model to a multichannel visualization system with PC clusters. The multichannel visualization module enables distributed computing for PC clusters, which can reduce the cost of VR experience while offering high performance. Each PC in a cluster renders a particular viewpoint of a scene. Scenes are synchronized by reading parameters from the master scene control module and passing them to client scenes.

  • Many solar cell way need to be connected by series or parallel to extract the high power Especially, during parallel operation to reduce circulation current the individual converter has to share and control the load current. Generally, Current Sharing(CS) can be implemented using droop and active current sharing method. In this paper, one 3[KW] PWM converter was replaced as one 3[KW] solar cell array(3 parallels, each parallel has twenty single modules), two 3[KW] solar cell way Is Paralleled to generate 6[KW] power. Also each converter used voltage-current controller and Automatic MSCPM(Master-Slave Current-programming Method) for current sharing(AS).

  • 연료전지용 대용량 PCS는 다수의 인버터가 병렬로 구성되어 있으며, 계통에 연계하여 운전하거나 혹은 계통에 이상이 발생할 경우 독립운전모드로 운전해야 한다. 독립운전모드로 동작할 경우 각 인버터의 전류가 달라 불평형이 발생할 수 있으므로 부하 분담 제어가 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 부하 임피던스를 추정하여 각 인버터의 출력 지령을 계산하여 출력 전압을 제어하는 알고리즘을 제안하고, 시험을 통해 검증하였다. Master 인버터는 출력 주파수 및 전압을 제어하며, Slave 인버터는 PLL을 이용하여 출력 주파수를 추종하여 전류제어를 수행한다. 제안한 알고리즘을 검증하기 위해 대용량 PCS의 성능 검증장치를 구축하고, 제어 성능을 확인하였다.

  • The independently regulated dual-output LLC resonant converter using only one power stage and one control IC is proposed in this paper. The conventional dual-output LLC resonant converter requires the extra non-isolated DC/DC converter to obtain the tightly regulated slave output voltage, which results in the low power conversion efficiency and high production costs. On the other hand, since the proposed converter controls the master and slave output voltages by pulse width modulation(PWM) and pulse frequency modulation(PFM), it can achieve tightly regulated dual output voltages without the additional non-isolated DC/DC converter. Therefore, it features a high efficiency and low cost. To confirm the validity of the proposed converter, theoretical analysis and experimental results from a 40W LED driver prototype are presented.

  • MSC(Multispectral Camera), which will be a unique payload on KOMPSAT-II, is designed to collect panchromatic and multi-spectral imagery with a ground sample distance of 1m and a swath width of 15km at 685km altitude in sun-synchronous orbit. The instrument is designed to have an orbit operation duty cycle of 20% over the mission life time of 3 years. MSC electronics consists of three main subsystems; PMU(Payload Management Unit), CEU(Camera Electronics Unit) and PDTS(Payload Data Transmission Subsystem). PMU performs all the interface between spacecraft and MSC, and manages all the other subsystems by sending commands to them and receiving telemetry from them with software protocol through RS-422 interface. CEU controls FPA(Focal Plane Assembly) which contains TDI(Timc Delay Integration) CCD(Charge Coupled Device) and its clock drivers. PMU provides a Master Clock to synchronize panchromatic and multispectral camera. PDTS performs compression, storage and encryption of image data and transmits them to the ground station through x-band.

  • As the number of agent application grows, agent management scheme is required for the efficient manipulations of it. In this paper, we studied an agent management scheme for monitoring and control of the working of an agent. For efficient management of an agent, we investigated the characteristics of the agent, and defined management information according to the specification of the SNMP SMI standard. Implemented scheme uses agent master system for the efficient management of many agent applications. We applied the defined management scheme using agent system that we developed in our laboratory, and found that our scheme was efficient for the monitoring and management of the agent applications.

  • This paper treats the estimation of human impedance and their application to human-robot collaboration work. Initially, we perform an experiment at which the human becomes a slave and the robot behaves like a master having F/T sensor on its end. The human impedance expressed in terms of mass, damping, and stiffness properties are estimated based on the force data measured by F/T sensor and the commanded position data of the robot. To show the effectiveness of the estimated human impedance, we perform the second experiment at which the roles of the human and the robot are reversed. It is shown that the robot using the estimated human impedance follows the trajectory commanded by human very smoothly.

  • A prototype of the Bridge Transported Servo Manipulator (BTSM) system has been developed to do operation and maintenance jobs remotely in a hot cell. The system consists of a telescopic transporter, a slave arm, a master arm, and a control system. In this paper, the system is introduced and several performance test results are presented. The results have been used to design an upgraded system that will be used during demonstrations of the advanced spent fuel conditioning process.
