Objectives : In order to identify the awareness of influenza A (H1N1) having currently high frequency and risk as an infectious disease, to find problems and to reflect them on curriculum improvements from students before/after clinical practices. Methods : The data was collected from 279 dental hygiene students of 1st and 2nd years at G health college university from December 6th 2010 to December 10th 2010. The questionnaire were consisted of awareness of influenza A (H1N1), preventive attitude, sociodemographic characteristics. Results : 1. 1st year was 51.6%, the case having dental experience was 51.2%, in the infection control training experience 'had' was 46.6%. In the route acquiring the information, the mass media was 70.6%, in obtained information, personal hygiene was 82.1%. In the impact on human body, 'great impact' was 58.1%. In terms of the most need for response and preparedness, vaccination was the highest, 67.4%. People who experienced influenza A (H1N1) were 10.7%. 2. Awareness of influenza A (H1N1) was 0.71 points, and treatment and spreading mechanism was 0.78 points, prevention was 0.63 points, causes and definition was 0.53 points. 3. In the attitude for infection prevention of influenza A (H1N1), 'washing hands before practice' was the highest, 0.99 points and 'wear the mask only in case of contact with patient within 1~2 meters upon occurrence of no aerosol' was the lowest, 0.72 points. 4. Awareness of influenza A (H1N1) according to sociodemographic characteristics showed the significant differences upon the impacts on systemic health (p<0.05). Preventive attitude didn't show a significant difference in grade, clinical experience, experience in infection control training, acquiring rmation routes, the possibility for occurrence, impact on systemic health, the most need for prevention, experience in influenza A (H1N1) (p>0.05). 5. The significantly correlated between awareness of influenza A (H1N1) and preventive attitude(p<0.01). Conclusions : Information and preventive attitude for influenza A (H1N1) as well as systematic training programs to identify actual affecting factors and to improve the practice are needed. Also government's institutional support is needed.
The Plastic material had been developed in the middle of the 19th century as an alternative material. Along with the development of the electrical engineering industry, it cropped up into center stage as an effective material and has increasingly expanded its use. As such, the plastic material has bound deep-seated ties with the design activities of industrial products, coming into the main material for a variety of industrial designs. Despite its dose affinity to design function in terms of its materialistic property, we have rarely seen examples of intensive study on the realtionship between plastics and designs. This study aims to find the importance that the substance affects industrial products in designs along with the development of plastic materials. With the objective in mind, we made a review of the streamline stylishness that had flourished in the twenties and thirties of the 19th century. Through this study, we understand that the plastic material has a close realtionshop with design activities in three different aspects. First, its amorphous state of nature makes it possible to change into any shape one desires in plastic surgery, which feature in turn influences the moulding of any design forms. Second, the plastic material is best suited to mass-manufacture, which induces to reduce the cost of production. Hence, the expansion of design industry. In the past, people should get the information through the mass-media. But these days we can produce and provide some information through new media, Internet. In other words, two-ways communication like internet make individual be the producer in the information stream. Especially, net generation is different form the old generation and they want to express themselves distinctively from others. Nevertheless, they can't have the chance to express their identity properly and only they try to satisfy their needs by consuming special goods. In this article, I want to suggest a program that an individual can express their own identity and image. I will transform CIP (Corporate Information Program) and adjust it to an individual case. This is different from the previous study that emphasize the external factor figure, etc. First, we will find the MI(mind identity) and the BI(behavior identity). Second, we will present the VI(visual identity) by using two factors. - MI, VI. Finally, we will analyze them totally and make the PI(personal identity ) that can express their own identity and philosophy well. Through this programs, they can express themselves well and get the chance to think creatively. I am sure this program will have more implications about image strategy.
Although the volume and complexity of available information have increased, our ability to process such volume of complex information has not been met with corresponding development. Information designers have been given the responsibility to address such unbalanced progress by developing effective visual systems to deliver and communicate such information to the masses in a manner that is quick and easy to process and understand. This study originated in recognition of these issues. This study seeks to find a solution to these issues in rhetorics in order to proliferate visual communications in recognition of the increasing importance of information and visual communication. Rhetorics, a field of study with a long history of analyzing the delivery of communication, provides numerous possibilities for the re-establishment of importance placed on visual information communication. Included in this study are (i) a thorough analysis of the principals of expression and logic offered by rhetorics, as applicable to information design (ii) a proposal to the solution to the above-mentioned issues encompassing the rhetoric process and methods of expression of information design and (iii) the practical application of these design principals to social activities. In order to provide an example of the practical use of the rhetoric methodology Presented in this study, we applied the rhetoric methodology to the 'Information Design for Public Transportation of Seoul.' and developed a new map and a guidebook. The raw data necessary for the foregoing were obtained through the analysis of the information designs that are currently in use in connection with mass transportation in Seoul and the survey evaluation conducted among Seoul residents. We modulated the infrastructure of Seoul by using 48 TAZs, computed the routes that are most likely to be used, and proposed the predictable information analysis process. The design proposed on this study encompasses color coding and use of combined information, and application of style and sequential information analysis process.
Space design in the 21st century has been developed in connection with media more various than ever. In the age of image represented by popular culture, space design connected with media is based on post-reason thoughts constituting the post-modern society, and reflects polysemously and pluralistically changes in the society through the identification of art with life. The movie, which is an image perceived particularly sensibly and the most impractical simulated image among various illusionary media images composing the contemporary society, is growing rapidly in interrelation with various fields of art based on its peculiar nature, and its influence is getting more extensive. The movie manipulates mass society to create what does not exist and restore lost images into new realities through the reproduction of extremely realistic senses, and uses them in establishing virtual realities and creating illusionary images representing the age of simularc. The illusionary expression of the movie produces new meanings through disintegrating existing meanings and recombining them, and expresses popular culture from a position closest to our everyday life. Such an analytical attitude toward the illusionary movie reflecting our society can be a new approach to space design. The present study attempts to suggest the possibility of applying such an illusionary characteristic of the movie as a methodology of space design by utilizing the characteristic as a conceptual language of space design.
This paper focused on the effect of Kansei design on the web in branding as well as its influence factors. As a key of this research, it classified web users' Kansei into five categories; 1) functional Kansei, 2) sensoryKansei, 3) psychological Kansei, 4) relational Kansei and 5) cultural Kansei, and organized relevant factors. Online surveys were conducted on seven websites of the fast food brands in Korea (Lotteria, Mcdonald, BurgerKing, Popeyes, KFC, Pizza Hut, Domino's) which are targeting 463 male and females in 20s. As a result, an average of 58% responded that they had a positive Kansei experience and could enhanceits brand preference. Of the sensory Kansei, visual design factors were the one that gave the greatest effect on brand preference enhancement. Regarding the functional Kansei satisfaction, such as user convenience and access speed were also one of the most crucial variables for the whole Kansei satisfaction. Moreover, the preference enhancement brought not only a positive effect on its reliability but also its brand image and consumers' purchasing desire. Based on the survey results, the additional FGI (Focus Group Interview) had been conducted and determined \circled1 what kind of major Kansei that users wanted to have satisfied, \circled2 what type of design can give strong Kansei appeal to its users, and \circled3what design factors gave an effect on sensory emotion. In the course of this research, Itried to renew the awareness of the web importance as a major channel in non-mass interactive marketing, and suggest the effect and its possibility of emotional branding through Kansei design in the web as well as design principles of strategic Kansei design.
Considering product as mass of information, it is very critical for designers to have good means of accessing to and organizing information on products. However, designers conventionally depend on their experience, bunch of catalogues, or short visit to some fairs for gathering information on products. There are no systematically organized information for designing new products. If any, those are ones developed by market researchers or engineers who speak fundamentally different language from designers. It is needed to develop the information system through which designer can get insights on the essence of product and communicate information with various persons involved in new product planning. At first, the design information in product planning is discussed and the necessity of development of new design information system is emphasized. Then, product is understood as a composite of various attributes and a set of fundamental attributes of product is defined by surveying and summarizing existing theories of product attributes: namely technological, human, and market attributes. The possibility of new design information system is explored by analyzing various relationships between attributes of different products. Computer program 'DISPP' displays various visual information of product itself, perceptual map, trend slope, profile chart and general information of manufacturer, style, color, price, size. Finally, findings of thesis are concluded and further prospects of the study are proposed.
Orb-web spiders can be considered as an effective bio-indicative animal to monitor the ecological air pollution of certain habitat since they have limited shifting ability during their life spans. In this study we revealed the fine structural characteristics of booklung in the orb-web spider Nephila clavata, and its bio-indicative significance in the monitoring environmental asbestos exposure. The high resolution scanning electron microscopy results suggest that the cuticular spikes near the atrium could be act as an effective filtering structure for dust materials. Furthermore, inner cuticular spikes which protruded across the air sacs, have the functions not only sustaining appropriate respiratory volume of each air sac but also help to enhance respiratory capacity by maximizing the gross surface area for gas exchange. Interestingly, in spite of short exposure, the asbestose fibrils were effectively captured on the surface of the atrial cuticular spikes. Furthermore, histologic damages were observed due to penetration of asbestos fibrils through air sacs and fixed on the hemolymph space. In addition, although accumulated mass of hemocytes were observed near the fibrils, there were no asbestos bodies or coagulated hemocytes were found on the surface of the fibrils, This could be mainly due to the short exposure period towards asbestos. Briefly, these results indicate the spider's booklung could be valuable tool in the detection ecological air pollutants.
Recently, sustainable production of biofuel using algal biomass is being pursued because of its enormous potential. First and foremost, securing superior strains to develop an efficient production system for algal biodiesel through screening or genetic improvement of microalgae is necessary. The genus of Botryococcus is regarded as one of the superior microalgae for biodiesel production due to its ability to accumulate high amounts of lipids and hydrocarbons. However, its low growth rate is a bottleneck for large-scale production and commercialization. The purpose of this study is to obtain indigenous Botryococcus strains which possess high lipid content and biomass productivity. The Botryococcus sp. was isolated from the Seobu Reservoir in Jeju Island and identified as Botryococcus sudeticus J2 by comparative analysis of 18s rRNA gene and ITS regions. The biomass productivity and lipid content of B. sudeticus J2 were 0.116 g $L^{-1}day^{-1}$ and 40.1% of dry wt., respectively. This was higher than the value of B. braunii UTEX 572, which is widely regarded as a superior strain among Botryococcus species. The relatively high growth rate of B. sudeticus J2 was achieved under a light intensity of 240 ${\mu}mol$ photons $m^{-2}s^{-1}$ with ambient air spargingwhen compared to 120 ${\mu}mol$ photons $m^{-2}s^{-1}$ with 2% $CO_2$ supply. In summary, it is likely that the isolated B. sudeticus J2 can be used for the mass cultivation and biodiesel production.
The objective of this study was to determine the effects of N:P ratio on primary productivity measured as chlorophyll-a (CHL) using the approach of In Situ Nutrient Enrichment Bioassays (NEBs) in Daechung Reservoir. The effects of NEBs on the N:P mass ratios were compared with the field data obtained from monthly-chemical monitoring during 2009~2012. The short-term NEBs showed that the response of primary productivity in the phosphorus spiked treatments (5, 15, 20 and 30 N:P ratios) were greater than the responses in the control (C) and nitrogen spiked treatment (N:P ratio=150, $T_{VI}$). The response in the nitrogen treatment (N:P ratio=150, $T_{VI}$) was less compared to control and all five treatments ($T_I{\sim}T_{VI}$). The outcomes of the NEBs suggest that phosphorus limited the phytoplankton growth and nitrogen addition inhibited the algal growth. In the analysis of nutrients and CHL from the ambient epilimnetic water in Daechung Reservoir, minimum N:P ratios resulted in maximum concentrations of CHL. Overall, our results suggest that the N:P ratio was the key factor in regulating the phytoplankton growth in NEB experiments.
