  • The purpose of this study is to present the results of in-depth analysis of family disintegration experience as a qualitative study to understand the meaning and nature of the experiences of marriage and divorce of women who have divorced in Vietnam. The participants were selected as six Vietnamese women who had been divorced for less than two years after five to 12 years of marriage. The collection of data and the analysis of the data were done by six concrete steps that should be followed in the scientific phenomenology suggested by Colaizzi(1978) Through this study, 74 subjects from 203 semantic meanings were derived and identified as 23 subject groups and finally organized into 7 categories. The seven categories were presented as life in Vietnam before marriage, motive of getting married, method and process of marriage, good experience of marriage, difficult experience in marriage, cause of divorce, changed life after divorce. The results of this study suggest that sexual relationship is a major conflict factor in marriage, and that this problem can lead to divorce. It is hoped that this study will help to find a solution for the dissolution of multicultural families.

  • Background: Family values of a married woman may be related to her own depressive mood. Since depressive mood of a married woman is likely to exert a negative influence, in terms of mental health, on her, her family members, and the whole society's, it may be very important to explore the relationship between family values in married women and their depressive mood. Methods: In this study, we analyzed nationally representative 5,818 married women aged 20 years or older from the 4th panel data of 2012 Korean Longitudinal Survey of Women and Families. As for variables of interest, we constructed three family values variables: family-oriented view of marriage, individualistic view of marriage, and traditional view of marital roles. Then we employed multivariate logistic regression analyses to explore the relationship between family values and depressive mood, adjusting for family and socio-demographic factors. Results: In total, 804 married women (18.4%) had experienced depressive mood. All of the three family values variables were significant in their relationships with depressive mood. The women categorized as 'very weak' in family-oriented view of marriage were more likely to experience depressive mood than the women categorized as 'very strong' (odds ratio [OR], 1.98; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.53-2.55). By contrast, the women categorized as 'very weak' in individualistic view of marriage (OR, 0.43; 95% CI, 0.33-0.55) and in traditional view of marital roles (OR, 0.68; 95% CI, 0.51-0.92) were less likely to experience depressive mood than their respective counterpart women categorized as 'very strong.' Conclusion: In Korea, married women's values towards marriage itself and roles between wives and husbands had significant associations with their depressive mood. This suggests that in order to improve mental health in married women, we need to take social and cultural dimensions into consideration along with public health interventions.

The factor related to continuous non-voluntary type among never-married women was parents' demand for marriage, while the factors related changed voluntary type were age, depression and strength of parental conflict. Also, the factors related to changed non-voluntary type of never-married women were age, religion, living with parents, depression and parents' demand for marriage. Both never-married men and women chose to remain single when they are living with their parents and their parental conflict is intense. Parents' demand for marriage was related to women, but not to men.

I provided a general tendency of parenting style as perceived by and adult child, recognize gender roles, and perspective of marriage to achieve the established goals. We analyzed the relative influence of socio-demographic characteristics, parenting style as perceived by and adult child and recognize gender roles for marriage perspectives. Finally, parenting style as perceived by and adult child are recognized gender roles mediated by the investigated influence of marriage perspectives. We used a structured questionnaire that targeted unmarried men and women 20 to 30 years of age to verify the this study. Data analysis used SPSS ver. 19.0; in addition, we performed reliability, frequency analysis, t-test, hierarchical regression analysis, multiple regression analysis, and variance inflation factor. Looking at these results, both adult children had a higher perception of rearing parents with the usual recognition of gender roles. The analysis indicated a conservative perspective of marriage. Adult children of mothers rearing and recognize gender roles sub-area of masculinity and femininity are perceived to be a significant change observed in marriage perspectives in addition to socio-demographic characteristics of gender and education. However, the relationship between parenting style, as perceived by adult child and marriage perspectives and as analyzed by recognize gender roles, did not have a mediating effect.

Fourth, Relationship between size of cultivated land(paddy field and uplaned) by the head of a family and number of participating and main purpose of that "Kye" meeting of all family memebers in rural community. The main results are as follows; First, there are different points by the kind of rural area in number of participating and "Kye for friendly gathering", "Kye for saving", "Kye for sightseeing". Second, variable of residence years of the head of a family is only negative influential factor in "Kye for saving". Third, variable of size of owned land is positive influential factor in total number of participating "Kye", "Kye for friendly gathering", "Kye for saving" and "Kye for sightseeing". Fourth, variable of size fo cultivated land is positive influential factor in total number of participating "Kye", "Kye for mournig and marriage", "Kye for friendly gatiering", "Kye for saving" and "Kye for sightseeing". • This research utilized the Grounded Theory and Giorgi's phenomenological research method to analyze the experience of battered women who are maintaining a non-violent marriage relationship. Due to the low accessibility of subjects and the distinctiveness of the topic, I have selected 4 participants and conducted in-depth interviews. As for data analysis results, there were 5 superior component elements and 19 inferior component elements for the experience of maintaining a non-violent marriage relationship and these appeared according to time. Thus, it can be analyzed as follows: 'the vicious cycle stage of violence: caught in a trap,' 'stage of breakaway from vicious violence cycle: making the self-rescue measures,' 'entry to a new track: retrieval of autonomy,' 'stage of forming a non-violence track: preventing the recurrence of the violence,' 'stage of maintaining non-violent track: conversion to non-violent relationship.' This research result will be useful in seeking an effective social welfare intervention plan for successful non-violent relationship in order to help 50% of the battered women from family violence who wish to maintain marriage.
