Market Mavenism and Post-Purchase Satisfaction/Dissatisfaction of Apparel Shoppers

  • With growing competition and increasing consumer demands, companies pay more attention than ever to market mavens who play a central role in diffusing marketplace information and influencing others' decisions. To enhance our understanding of the market maven, this paper examines the role of market mavenism in shaping consumers' shopping values (utilitarian value, hedonic value) and their post-purchase satisfaction or dissatisfaction. Regression analyses revealed that market mavenism had a positive impact on hedonic shopping values, and post-purchase satisfaction. The findings showed that hedonic shopping values had a significant impact on post-purchase satisfaction while utilitarian shopping value did not have any significant relationship. Findings of the study also suggest that market mavens pursue hedonic shopping values and exhibit greater post-purchase dissatisfaction than others. Practitioners are recommended to create entertaining retail environments for market mavens who seek hedonic values when they shop. The results also suggest that practitioners need to pay close attention to market mavens at the post-purchase stage since they can be extremely dissatisfied.

KOSPI 200 파생상품시장의 거래대금 변동에 관한 연구 (A Study on a Decrease in Trading Values in KOSPI 200 Financial Derivatives Market)

  • This paper investigates factors underlying a decrease in trading values in KOSPI 200 futures/options market on the basis of the current state of the markets. Among the factors that could affect trading values in KOSPI 200 derivatives market, we focus on the market activity of underlying assets as it has an impact on the trading of financial derivatives. Trading value and volatility are designated as market activity and the empirical results confirm that the market activity of the underlying assets is significant in explaining the decrease in trading values in KOSPI 200 futures/options market. To figure out fundamental reasons of the decrease in trading values in this market, we examine mitigation of home bias and decrease in leverage incentives as they are presumed to have influence on KOSPI 200 index market. As the global and local financial environment is time-varying, the degree of home bias and the leverage demand also changes. It implies that institutional change and/or policy effort to promote the trading of KOSPI 200 financial derivatives should be made taking into account the fact that considerable portion of the change in trading values in financial derivatives market depends on the state of the market.

소비가치에 의한 외래서비스 이용환자의 시장세분화에 관한 연구 (Market Segmentation of Outpatient Services on the based of Consumption Values in Hospitals)

  • This study was performed to analyze of market segmentation of outpatient services on the based of consumption values. Self-reported questionnaires of six hospital outpatients 600 were analyzed by six consumption values categories: functional values, social values, emotional value, rarity value, situational values, health related values. The main results of this research is as following; 1. The consumption values were significantly different in that sociodemographic characteristics. Especially, the more older aged group, farmer and married people, the more they preferred to functional value, social value, emotional value and rarity value than younger aged group and unmarried people. But in the cases of situational vaue, younger aged people and white-callar workers recognized more positively. Also, housewives, married people and female recognized more positively than white-callar workers, unmarried people and male. 2. In the results of CHAID analysis, market of general hospital were analyzed by 9 categories and major market were groups who ignored or were unconcerned about newness/classiness and preferred to nearness to residence. The market of university hospital were analyzed by 8 categories and major market were groups who considered to reliability/social reputation importantly. The market of corporate hospitals were analyzed by 8 and major market were group who considered to classiness/newness importantly. Therefore, above results show that health care market can be divided to various market by demand and market segmentation is very important for marketing strategy.

경험적 가치기반의 매장에 관한 Ethnography: 홍대 앞 프리마켓(free market)을 중심으로 (Case Study on Free Market in front of Hongik University: Store Based on New Experiential Value)

  • 본 연구는 최근 홍대 앞에서 정착되어 발전하고 있는 프리마켓을 소개한다. '프리마켓'은 작가나 작가 지망생들이 만든 예술적 창작품들이 거래되는 장소로 홍대 앞 놀이터에서 매주 토요일 열리는 장터이다. 본 연구는 프리마켓이라는 새로운 거래형태의 개념도출 및 설명을 위하여 프리마켓 구성원들과의 심층면접과 매장에서의 참여관찰을 통하여 자료를 수집하였고, 이를 토대로 프리마켓의 성장과정, 고유한 특징과 매장이 구성원에게 제공하는 새로운 경험적 가치를 정리하였다. 프리마켓은 90년대 일부 작가들이 길가에서 예술적 창작품들을 판매하기 시작하면서 자생적 노점상의 형태로 출발하였고, 2001년 벼룩시장과 예술시장의 성격이 혼합된 이벤트성 축제행사가 열리면서 성장의 기회를 갖게 되었으며, 2002년 신촌 문화포럼이 문화 중심의 시장을 기획하면서 지금의 프리마켓으로 발전되어 왔다. 현재 프리마켓은 자발적으로 참여하는 스텝, 참여 작가 및 일반 고객이 구성원이 되어 다양한 행사가 매주 토요일 정기적으로 개최된다. 프리마켓의 고유한 특징은 복합공간성과 역할의 무경계성으로 요약되고, 이러한 공간적 특징은 마켓에 참여하는 모든 구성원에게 자유로움, 경험의 비예측성, 사회적 교류, 참여적 역할을 통한 축제의 주인공이라는 새로운 경험적 가치를 제공하고 있다. 본 저자들은 이러한 가치를 기반으로 프리마켓이 새로운 매장 형태로 정착될 수 있었던 것으로 해석하였다. 따라서 본 연구는 프리마켓이라는 새로운 매장형태가 고객에게 고유한 경험적 가치를 제공한다는 의미를 도출하였고, 본 사례는 이러한 매장에서 고객에게 제공하는 고유한 경험적 가치가 향후 매장 경쟁력의 주요 원천이 될 수 있음을 시사하고 있다.

마케팅 커뮤니케이션이 점포 충성도에 미치는 영향: 쇼핑가치와 전통시장 이용경험을 중심으로 (The Effect of Marketing Communication and Store Loyalty in Traditional Markets: Focusing on Shopping Value and Shopping Experience)

  • Purpose - This study examined marketing communication in traditional markets by assessing consumers demonstrating brand loyalty through repeat purchases despite active marketing by competing brands hence, showing that the brand did not lose customers owing to communication. Specifically, this study examined the effects of marketing communication factors in traditional markets upon consumers' store loyalty and to determine consumers' practical and hedonic values, as moderating variables. Moreover, this study determined that both experienced and inexperienced consumers in traditional markets could similarly assess the market and examined the outcome of traditional market development as well as future strategies. Research design, data, methodology - To verify the relationship between marketing communication and store loyalty, and the moderating effects of shopping value, data were collected from 230 consumers in the Gyeonggi Province to test the theoretical model and its hypotheses. Although the field of distribution management typically uses two research methodologies, this study was conducted using empirical methodology. Specifically, analysis of variance and hierarchical regression analysis were used to test the hypotheses. Results - Consumers who had experienced the traditional market placed a greater emphasis on the physical environment or word-of-mouth marketing. Moreover, other factors apart from advertising had a significantly positive influence upon marketing communication sub-factors and store loyalty. Word-of-mouth marketing was found to be more important than other factors, therefore affirmative word-of-mouth marketing was considered important from various viewpoints. The study investigated the moderating effects of hedonic value and practical use value in the relationship between marketing communication sub-factors and store loyalty: The negative influence of publicity, physical environment, and word-of-mouth marketing was considered to be statistically significant. Conclusions - Consumers who made use of the traditional market did not think of the physical environment in an affirmative way, and consumers who did not make use of the traditional market perceived it as having a poor physical environment. However, consumers who engaged in word-of-mouth marketing experienced the traditional market in an affirmative way. Consumers who made use of the traditional market had significantly high hedonic value and/or practical use value, therefore future strategies should encourage consumers to make more use of the traditional market. Consumers who had experienced the traditional market demonstrated strong market loyalty. For consumers who did not make use of the traditional market, marketing communication was likely to influence store loyalty in a different manner from a practical perspective. In other words, marketing communication was needed to develop the traditional market, and consumers who did not make use of the traditional market should be given the opportunity to do so. Consumers having low hedonic values experienced high publicity to have high store loyalty, and consumers who experienced good facilities of the traditional market had high store loyalty (Nam & Jun, 2011). Consumers with low hedonic values as well as those with high hedonic values on the traditional market could have high store loyalty through affirmative word-of-mouth marketing.Therefore, various types of events and strategies were needed to enable consumers to experience the traditional market in an affirmative way.

Regional Difference in Retail Product Association of Market Basket Analysis in US

  • Purpose: Market basket analysis is one of the most frequently used methods in the retail industry today as a technique to discover the product association. It is empirically analyzed how these product associations differ regionally in the case of the United States. Research design, data, and methodology: Based on the purchasing data of consumer panels collected from 49 US states, the association rules for each state was extracted with the corresponding lift values indicating product association. The difference in lift values in 49 states by the association rule was compared and tested for 49 states and for 4 census regions (Northeast, Midwest, South, West). Results: The association rules of 3/4 of the same association rules show positive associations or negative associations depending on the lift values of the states. There were significant differences in the lift values for 49 states, and for 4 census regions. These significant differences in the lift values were found to be related to the distance between states and whether states belong to the same census region. Conclusions: Retail product associations shown by market basket analysis may vary depending on regional distance or regional heterogeneity. It is necessary to pay attention to these points in multi-store environment.

독도의 비시장적 가치 평가 (Assessment of Non-market Value of Dokdo)

  • The Korean government has acknowledged the importance of Dokdo Island and has consequently taken various measures for the effective management of it. There has, however, been little quantitative information about the value of Dokdo Island and this study, therefore, attempts to assess the Islands non-market value. To this end, this study estimated the non-market value by MAUT/CVM. The non-market value estimated by MAUT/CVM includes historic value, military value, ecological value, and geological value. According to the results, the values calculated by the price in market is about 10.37 trillion won and the values estimated by MAUT/CVM is about 1.72 trillion won annually.

실험시장접근법을 이용한 먹는 물 수질개선에 대한 지불의사 측정 (Valuing Drinking Water Risk Reductions Using Experimental Market Method)

  • This paper reports the results of a study to elicit willingness to pay (WTP) for changes in health risks from exposure to As, Pb, THM in tap water using experimental market method. The experimental market method, compared with other non-market valuation methods, allows us to use incentive compatible demand revealing scheme, to acquire market-like experience through repetitive auctions, and to incorporate learning process by providing new information during the session. Participants seemed to utilize the objective risk information in a 'rational' manner, and to change their WTP bids accordingly. Moreover they were able to reduce the 'ambiguity' in risk perception processes when objective risk probabilities provided are quite different from their subjective perceptions. Nonetheless, anchoring effects appeared to be still persistent in spite of market-like experience and learning opportunity. And implicit values entailed by WTP bid/risk tradeoffs indicate a wide variation in values across alternative risk reductions and overrated responses to very small risk reductions.

ICT 기반 다중 가치사슬의 동적 플랫폼에서의 공존 모형: 의료서비스를 중심으로 (A Coexistence Model in a Dynamic Platform with ICT-based Multi-Value Chains: focusing on Healthcare Service)

  • ICT는 제조기반 산업사회에서 가치사슬의 효율성/효과성의 지원을 목적으로 도입되었으나 정보기반 산업사회에서는 ICT가 시장 가치 창출의 주체가 되어 다중 가치사슬의 형성 가능성을 기대하게 하였다. 즉, ICT의 발전은 공급 및 수요의 다변화와 다양성의 동인이 되면서 가치를 창출하기 시작했고, 이를 중심으로 하는 신 가치 사슬의 등장은 구 가치사슬과의 충돌의 문제를 야기하였다. 즉, 다중 가치사슬이 존재 가능한 플랫폼에서는 가치사슬 간의 충돌, 중첩, 생성, 상실 등의 동적 상황 등에 따른 신/구 가치의 창출과 소멸 등이 발생하게 된다. 예를 들어, ICT에 기반을 둔 우버택시 서비스는 신 가치사슬을 형성하여 택시서비스 시장에서 신/구 가치사슬간의 충돌을 야기했다. 제조기반 산업사회에서는 단일 가치사슬의 시장 선점이 중요하였으나, ICT 기반 융합 제품/서비스/정보가 유통되는 플랫폼에서는 시장 상황 변수의 동적 변화에 따라 다중의 가치사슬이 존재하면서 서로 충돌과 공존을 야기하게 되었다. 따라서 ICT에 기반을 둔 지능형 정보사회의 발전과 함께 시장가치 최대화를 위해 다중 가치사슬 간 충돌 최소화와 공존의 최대 가능성을 높일 수 있는 모형의 제시가 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 먼저 의료서비스 시장을 중심으로 하는 다중 가치사슬의 동적 플랫폼 형성에 대해 논의한다. 즉, 의료서비스 시장에 ICT 기반 원격 및 지능형 의료서비스 등이 구 시장에 진입함으로써 발생하는 가치사슬 간의 충돌을 최소화하고 공존 가능성을 높이기 위한 공존 요인 변수에 대해 논의 한다. 이를 위해 다중의 공급과 소비 및 서비스가 존재 가능한 다중 가치사슬이 충돌 및 중첩하는 과정에서 공존 요인 변수 등에 기반하여 가치 사슬들을 동적으로 생성/변화/소멸 및 공존하기까지 의료서비스 플랫폼에 대해 논의한다. 또한 플랫폼 내의 각 가치사슬의 생산가치의 증가와 가치사슬 간의 상호 작용에 의한 부가가치의 창출 등에 의해 플랫폼의 총 가치가 증가 될 수 있음을 논의한다. 마지막으로 공존 모형을 제안하고 실험을 통해 가치사슬 간의 공존 가능성을 제시한다.

Implied Volatility Function Approximation with Korean ELWs (Equity-Linked Warrants) via Gaussian Processes

  • A lot of researches have been conducted to estimate the volatility smile effect shown in the option market. This paper proposes a method to approximate an implied volatility function, given noisy real market option data. To construct an implied volatility function, we use Gaussian Processes (GPs). Their output values are implied volatilities while moneyness values (the ratios of strike price to underlying asset price) and time to maturities are as their input values. To show the performances of our proposed method, we conduct experimental simulations with Korean Equity-Linked Warrant (ELW) market data as well as toy data.
