Enterprises' participation in the collaboration research is one of the effective and typical methods through which technologies go into the market or are transferred to other sectors. This study reviews enterprises' participated collaboration research and analyzes their network for disaster and safety management area. From 2005 to 2016, 786 technical papers from four representative journals for disaster and safety management in Korea are compiled based on the authors whose affiliations are from enterprises. During the research period, collaboration research is found to be in an increasing trend in general. However, the number of technical papers with three or less authors is in a decreasing trend, whereas that with four or more authors is in an increasing trend. This fact implies that the range of enterprises' collaboration research is widening. Technical paper productivity and each entity's collaboration network are evaluated using participation-weight based author score. Over the research period, a few universities, which attract most of the enterprises, are found to have higher productivities and centralities. Public enterprises show higher participation weights. Also, sectors such as construction, engineering, and electronics demonstrate higher weights. This study is particularly meaningful because enterprises' participation status in collaboration research for disaster and safety management area is systematically analyzed for the first time in Korea. The network analysis result from this study will be especially helpful in establishing technology transfer strategy.
With the globalization of the world economy, international trade networks are expanding beyond geographical proximity, and the expansion of such trade networks is playing a role in promoting globalization. Korea has established itself as a strong FTA for the past 13 years, starting with the Korea-Chile FTA. Successful establishment of a short-term FTA network has shown positive economic effects such as increased trade volume with partner countries and market share in overseas markets. Other countries are also turning to the paradigm of economic development through the formation of a regional economic integration and a bilateral trade agreement network, and it is time to investigate new opportunities through understanding the entire RTA and FTA network. In this study, we analyzed the status of RTA and FTA from the 1960s to 2010s, analyzed network structure and centrality through SNA(social network analysis). The results of the study show that the structure of the FTA network is gradually expanding, and the FTA network, which has been expanding to the center of the early European countries, is changing toward the Asian countries such as Korea, China and Japan. As a result of the analysis of the degree of centrality, Korea was ranked as the top in all the degree of centrality(Degree, Betweenness, Closeness and Eigenvector) indicators for a short period of time and it means that Korea's FTA strategy was evaluated as very successful. This study examines the FTA among the global RTAs, assesses the structure of the FTAs and evaluates Korea's FTA strategies and the FTA network from a network perspective.

Solid-state disks (SSDs) have been widely used by high-performance personal computers or servers due to its good characteristics and performance. The NAND flash-based SSDs, which take large portion of the whole NAND flash market, are the major type of SSDs. They usually integrate a cache buffer which is built from DRAM and uses the write-back policy for better performance. Unfortunately, the policy makes existing scheduling methods less effective at the I/F level of SSDs Therefore, in this paper, we propose a scheduling method for the I/F with consideration of the cache buffer. The proposed method considers the hit/miss status of cache buffer and gives higher priority to the read requests. As a result, the requests whose data is hit on the cache buffer can be handled in advance and the read requests which have larger effects on the whole system performance than write requests experience shorter latency. The experimental results show that the proposed scheduling method improves read latency by 26%.
Our current food hygiene law mandates nutrition label (NL) for the special nutrition foods, health support foods, instant foods, and foods with certain nutrient emphasized note, only. Currently more processed foods are bearing nutrition labels though the format is quite inconsistant. This study examined the status on current nutrition labeling practices for the processed foods that are retailed in the supermarket. The obtained information was assessed in the aspects of numerical data presentation on nutrients content, descriptive terms, health claim, and the format. The results are summarized as follows. 1) Foods with NL are limited to the food category specified by current hygiene law while voluntary nutition labeling is few. 2) Descriptive terms such as free, low, and sufficient are not substantiated with quantitative data. The efficacy of microelements which has not been clalified yet are overemphasized but major nutrients are ignored. 3) The regulations for the descriptive terms are set on the base of the nutrient content per 100g or 100ml under current nutrition labeling act. It would mislead consumers thus the definition for these descriptor be better set on the unit of the amount of food customary eaten at one time. For this the standard serving size should be set officially. 4) Quantitative nutrition information given on food products is difficult to compare because of the lack in formality. The title of NL, load and kinds of nutritents, order of nutrients listed, the unit of expression, RDA comparision, and reference RDA are inconsistant among the foods similar in dietary property. Uniform format is needed to give NL the credibility and usefulness. Proividing nutrition information to the consumers with NL is a worldwide practice though its efficacy has been controversial. Under newly legistered health promotion law in Korean nutrition education is esxpected to take part in to improve national nutrition condition and NL would education is expected to take part in to improve national nutrition condition and NL would be a potent tool for public nutritions education. It appears to be the time to mandate NL to all the processed foods in the market. The result of present study would initiate further consumer experiments related to NL. Various interest groups such as food and nutrition professions, public health organizations, government regulatory agencies, food producers and marketers, and consumer groups need to particepate and communicate for the legislation of NL and the development of NL format.
Although Korea is a top market sharing and world leading producer and developer of flat panel display devices, relevant recycling technology is not up to her prestigious status. Besides, most of the waste glass arising from flat panel displays is currently land-filled. The present paper mainly reviews on development of recycling systems for waste TFT-LCD glass from end-of-life LCD TVs and monitors and TFT-LCD process waste of crushed glass particles with target end uses of raw material for high strength concrete pile and glass fibers, respectively. Waste LCD glass was recycled to fabricate ingredients for high strength concrete piles with enhanced physical properties and spherical foam products. The waste LCD glass recycling technology is already developed to fabricate long and short fibers at commercial level. In view of these, future R & D on waste LCD glass materials is to be directed toward implementation of commercial materials recycling system therefrom.
In this study, we conducted an in-depth literature review of the innovation characteristics of nuclear technology. We understood that the main issue may be a transition of fourth generation nuclear energy technology. We also analyzed a present status of Korean policy on nuclear energy technology and identified some implications for a successful settlement of the fourth generation nuclear energy technology. This study could provide some policy implications for maintaining the sustainable competitiveness of the fourth generation nuclear energy technology in Korea. According to our study, the factors that influence on a transition of nuclear energy technology are a policy-induced market for technical application and demonstration, stable and long-term resource allocation, constant interaction among stakeholders of innovation, accumulation of skill and know-how for an entire system. In addition, we conducted a case analysis on policy for Korean fourth generation nuclear energy technology. According to this case study, it would be necessary for Korea to pursue systematic training of human resources, active response to a social acceptance and reaction, establishment of specific plan for technical demonstration, long-term policy suggestion, and active promotion of constant interaction between stakeholders.

Background: While demand for cardiovascular surgery is expected to increase gradually along with the rapid increase in cardiovascular diseases with respect to the aging population, the supply of thoracic and cardiovascular surgeons has been continuously decreasing over the past 10 years. Consequently, this study aims to achieve guidance in establishing health care policy by analyzing the supply and demand for cardiovascular surgeries in the medical service area of Korea. Methods: After investigating the actual number of cardiovascular surgeries performed using the National Health Insurance claim data of the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service, as well as drawing from national statistics concerning the elderly population aged 65 and over, this study estimated the number of future cardiovascular surgeries by using a cell-based model. To be able to analyze the supply and demand of surgeons, the recent status of new surgeons specializing in thoracic and cardiovascular surgeries and the ratio of their subspecialties in cardiovascular surgeries were investigated. Then, while taking three different scenarios into account, the number of cardiovascular surgeons expected be working in 5-year periods was projected. Results: The number of cardiovascular surgeries, which was recorded at 10,581 cases in 2014, is predicted to increase consistently to reach a demand of 15,501 cases in 2040-an increase of 46.5%. There was a total of 245 cardiovascular surgeons at work in 2014. Looking at 5 year spans in the future, the number of surgeons expected to be supplied in 2040 is 184, to retire is 249, and expected to be working is 309-an increase of -24.9%, 1.6%, and 26.1%, respectively compared to those in 2014. This forecasts a demand-supply imbalance in every scenario. Conclusion: Cardiovascular surgeons are the most central resource in the medical service of highly specialized cardiovascular surgeries, and fostering the surgeons requires much time, effort, and resources; therefore, by analyzing the various factors affecting the supply of cardiovascular surgeons, an active intervention of policies can be prescribed for the areas that have failed to meet the appropriate market distributions.

The development of information and communication technology has been carried out actively in the field of agriculture to generate valuable information from large amounts of data and apply big data technology to utilize it. Crops and their varieties are determined by the influence of the natural environment such as temperature, precipitation, and sunshine hours. This paper derives the climatic factors affecting the production of crops using the garlic growth process and daily meteorological variables. A prediction model was also developed for the production of garlic per unit area. A big data analysis technique considering the growth stage of garlic was used. In the exploratory data analysis process, various agricultural production data, such as the production volume, wholesale market load, and growth data were provided from the National Statistical Office, the Rural Development Administration, and Korea Rural Economic Institute. Various meteorological data, such as AWS, ASOS, and special status data, were collected and utilized from the Korea Meteorological Agency. The correlation analysis process was designed by comparing the prediction power of the models and fitness of models derived from the variable selection, candidate model derivation, model diagnosis, and scenario prediction. Numerous weather factor variables were selected as descriptive variables by factor analysis to reduce the dimensions. Using this method, it was possible to effectively control the multicollinearity and low degree of freedom that can occur in regression analysis and improve the fitness and predictive power of regression analysis.
The purpose of this article is to delve into the problems of originality of the artwork by examining issues of reproduction within the contemporary art market. In contemporary arts, especially in terms of art production and consumption, we can't overlook society and its economic structure and its connection with of capitalism. As the purity of art creation has turned into an exchange value, art, especially an object as artwork, has fallen into the status of production in an economic marketing system. Walter Benjamin mainly referred to that point in his thesis Das Kunstwerk im Zeitalter seiner technischen Reproduzierbarkeit, which originated the sociology of plastic arts. This thesis, published in 1936, traced how the artistic functions of photograph and movie had been changed through the social development. His main concerns were movie and photograph but what I am concentrating from his point of view, is that even in the field of plastic arts, the manufacture of reproduction has been practiced as a primary method within the social and political contexts and development. Though I am referring to this in the main body of this article, reproduction in contemporary art strongly needs a new definition since it has been spread all over like a newest virus, not only by collector's personal taste or hut also by commercial circulations of these reproductions to the public. This relates to Benjamin's argument about the value of an exhibition at a museum(Ausstellungswert). Since the function of an artwork has been one of cultural industry, the manufacturing of reproduction raises unexpected problems, such as, the originality of the artwork, the value of an exhibition at a museum, its achievement as documentary and as a territory of art criticism. In this point of view, I want to inquire into the value and criteria of an exhibition in contemporary art through the review of the definitions and the intrinsic attributes of reproduction. Somehow in a broad sense, the reproduction is a product coming out of representation or copy (replica) of an original art work or an model. Therefore, the problems it presents differ from the Simulacre, which is an image without an original one. In terms of the Meanings of reproduction, we can distinguish it as reproductions, copies, and productions. These types of reproductions are not the original artworks reflected by the creative intention of the artists. For example, a publishing company reproduced some of lithographs of Salvador Dali in the 1960s. They are commercial copies in the form of representation or reproduction with no artistic and creative intention of the artist. However, In despite of this theoretical basis, reproductions of the famous artists are still displayed without any verification for of the public's quest for the artworks. Moreover, many commercial companies that are planning to exhibit art works of the world-famous artists only for their profits keep trying to speak ill of and judging by the law the honest art critics' articles which discuss the true values of exhibition. If freedom of expression is one of the ideals of democracy, even the judgment of the originality of the artworks should be freely expressed.
Currently, dependency of natural and energy resources on world economy may not be more serious than any before increasing the uncertainty of Korea's national economy, especially as China uses unexpectedly fast glowing portion of world resources. Due to insufficient natural resources and unmatured renewable energy system, it is very important for Korea to secure the energy sources not only for national prosperity but also security for the future. In this regard, importance and necessity of nuclear energy as a major electric power source in Korea are in need to be emphasized. Korea currently imports all the necessary enriched uranium for fabrication of nuclear fuel from abroad. Thus, it is extremely important to establish a secured supply system for enriched uranium regardless of the global political unstability as well as economic fluctuation. In order to build the nuclear fuel procurement system, it is required to analyze the global market status, current enrichment service systems, and the future technology under development. For this purpose, this study comparatively analyzes the laser based advanced technology for uranium enrichment under development in the United States, which is assumed to be 2~3 times more economically viable than currently available technologies.
