The purpose of this study is to know the concept of Eco-industrial Park and How to use the thermal effluents from power plants. Thermal effluents, which use sea water for cooling, from power plants have been discharged with about $6{\sim}7^{\circ}C$ higher temperature than near sea area. Therefore, it could effect on the marine ecosystem as a external pressure factor that increase the artificial thermal load in near sea area. The applications of thermal effluents had been surveyed through the several internal and external cases for utilizing heat sources and reducing the thermal load. As the precedence research for applying, the amount of heat sources of thermal effluents was evaluated. When the thermal effluents was fully applied in heat sources and available heat, assume that use heating season by 12 hours a day of demanded available heat, it was possible to calculate total 198 Tcal of energy saving.

The tourism industry is considered as the world largest industry and it is assessed as the most effective way to create employment. In particular, the marine tourism industry such as marine leisure sports, cruise can create high added value so that its significance has been more emphasized. Korea has natural tourist attractions such as more than 3,000 islands, about 12,000km lengths coastline, wide wetlands and beautiful seascape. In addition, the establishment of the five-day workweek and the development of means of transportation make the policy demand of the public for marine tourism increase continuously. However, Korea currently lacks policy and system for revitalizing marine tourism industry as the new growth engine and has not made good use of its retained tourist resource. Accordingly, this study explores the current situation and challenges of Korean marine tourism industry and further analyses the limits of the national legal systems for marine tourism. Lastly, it suggests policy recommendation for promoting marine tourism industry.

This study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of the dipeptide form of phenylalanine as a new source of amino acid in terms of growth performance and whole-body amino acid composition in comparison to the free form for red seabream (Pagrus major). Fish ($1.46{\pm}0.001g$) were fed four isonitrogenous and isocaloric experimental diets containing 0.7 or 1.4% phenylalanine either in free or dipeptide form. A feeding trial was carried out in three replicates and the fish were fed to apparent satiation for six weeks. At the end of the feeding trial, feed intake of fish was influenced by both phenylalanine form and level and significantly higher values were obtained at an inclusion level of 0.7% and by the use of dipeptide form. However, the other growth parameters did not significantly differ among treatments. Whole-body amino acid compositions revealed no significant changes in concentrations of both essential and non-essential amino acids regardless of the increase in phenylalanine levels or the use of its different forms. The finding in this study indicates that juvenile red seabream can utilize dipeptide phenylalanine as efficiently as free form without any undesirable effects on growth performance or whole-body amino acid composition.

Recently, as the global problem of marine debris and marine plastics is getting serious, various ways to solve them have been proposed, and the use of the biodegradable fishing gear is proposed as an alternative. Currently, 13 types of biodegradable fishing gears are available, but their penetration rate is only 8.7%. However, the need for the use of the biodegradable fishing gear is growing as awareness of protecting marine ecosystems is growing. Therefore, in this study, the economic effects of the expansion of biodegradable fishing gear distribution in Korea's coastal areas were analyzed through the conservation of marine ecosystems, augmentation of fisheries resources, and augmentation of fishing efficiency. According to the analysis, the economic effects of 52,795 million won, 105,590 million won, and 158,385 million won was generated as the distribution of biodegradable fishing gear were expanded to 10%, 20% and 30% across all gill net and trap.

Underwater CCTV camera systems are increasingly replaced the traditional net approach of assessing the species, numbers and aggregation patterns of marine animals distributing around the artificial reefs installed in the inshore fishing grounds, in particular, in relation to the biological investigation of behavior and distribution patterns of target fishes. In relation to these needs, we developed a multi-directional underwater CCTV camera system to use in detecting and tracking marine animals in the artificial reef ground. The marine targets to be investigated were independently tracked by using a camera module toward the bottom and four camera modules installed in the interval of $90^{\circ}$ in horizontal plane and inclination of $45^{\circ}$ in vertical plane of the CCTV system without the overlap of video frames by each camera module. From the results of several field tests at sea, we believe that the developed multi-directional underwater CCTV camera system will contribute to a better understanding in evaluating the effect of artificial reefs installed in the inshore fishing grounds.

The main purpose of this study is to estimate willingness to pay (WTP) by the general publics, assuming that they pay tax or charge for protecting marine living resources and environment through developing and supplying biodegradable fishing nets. This study employed a contingent valuation method (CVM) which is an econometric method. The survey was conducted by using both double-bounded dichotomous choice and open-ended survey. Tobit model was used for the analysis. The variables included concerns about marine environment and fishing net discarded, sex, age profile, number of family members, educational level and personal disposable income. Annual average WTP per family for the biodegradable fishing net development and supply was estimated at 5,294 won and national WTP amounted to some 84.2 billion won. This includes both of use and non-use value of biodegradable fishing nets.
Maritime accidents result in enormous economic loss and loss of life; thus, such accidents must be prevented, and risks must be managed to prevent these occurrences Risk management must be based on statistical evidence such as variables. Because calculating when variables increase statistically can be difficult, compressing the designated variables is necessary to use the maritime accident data in Korea. Thus, in this study, variables of marine accident data are compressed using statistical methods. The date, ship type, and marine accident type included in all maritime accident data were extracted, the number of optimal variables was confirmed using the hierarchical clustering analysis method, and the data were compressed. For the compressed variables, the validity of the data use was statistically confirmed using analysis of variance, and the data of the variables identified using the variable compression method were designated. Consequently, among the monthly and yearly data, statistical significance was confirmed in yearly data, and compression was possible. The significance of the data was confirmed in six and eight types of ships and accidents, respectively, and these were compressed. These results can be directly used for prevention or prediction based on past maritime accident data. Additionally, the data range extracted from past maritime accidents and the number of applicable data will be studied in the future.

Marine spatial planning (MSP) is a crucial element for rational allocation and sustainable use of marine areas. Particularly, Fishing Activity Protected Areas constitute essential zones accounting for 45.6% designated for sustainable fishing activities. However, the current assessment of these zones does not adequately consider future demands and potential values, necessitating appropriate evaluation methods and predictive tools for long-term planning. In this study, we selected key fish species (Scomber japonicus, Trichiurus lepturus, Engraulis japonicus, and Larimichthys polyactis) within the Fishing Activity Protected Area to predict their distribution and compare it with the current designated zones for evaluating the ability of the prediction tool. Employing the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) 6th Assessment Report scenarios (SSP1-2.6 and SSP5-8.5), we used species distribution models (such as MaxEnt) to assess the movement and distribution changes of these species owing to future variations. The results indicated a 30-50% increase in the distribution area of S. japonicus, T. lepturus, and L. polyactis, whereas the distribution area of E. japonicus decreased by approximately 6-11%. Based on these results, a species richness map for the four key species was created. Within the marine spatial planning boundaries, the overlap between areas rated "high" in species richness and the Fishing Activity Protected Area was approximately 15%, increasing to 21% under the RCP 2.6 scenario and 34% under the RCP 8.5 scenario. These findings can serve as scientific evidence for future evaluations of use zones or changes in reserve areas. The current and predicted distributions of species owing to climate change can address the limitations of current use zone evaluations and contribute to the development of plans for sustainable and beneficial use of marine resources.

Ships and offshore structures are exposed to harsh marine environments, and maintenance and repair are becoming increasingly important to the industry and the economy. The major corrosion phenomenons of metals and alloys in marine environment are pitting corrosion, stress corrosion cracking, crevice corrosion, fatigue corrosion, cavitation-erosion and etc. due to the effect of chloride ions and is quite serious. Methods of protection against corrosion can generally be divided into two groups: anodic protection and cathodic protection. Anodic protection is limited to the passivity characteristics of a material in its environment, while cathodic protection can apply methods such as sacrificial anode cathodic protection and impressed current cathodic protection. Sacrificial anode methods using Al and Zn alloys are widely used for marine structures and vessels intended for use in seawater. Impressed current cathodic protection methods are also widely used in marine environments, but tend to generate problems related to hydrogen embrittlement caused by hydrogen gas generation. Therefore, it is important to the proper maintenance and operation of the various corrosion protection systems for ship in the harsh marine environment.
By-products from fisheries produced in Korea are of the same industrial material as imported raw materials and are valuable resources for marine bioindustries. Securing raw materials for the mass production of functional materials is one of the main objectives for marine bioindustrial development. The use of fishery by-products as raw materials is anticipated to increase rapidly as the biomarket is growing into a promising industry. In this study, data were acquired from an open-source environment to perform exploratory data analysis, and various visualization methods were used to compare fishery production to the production of marine processed products in the year 2020. This study suggested that the amount of seafood processing, types of processing items, and areas where fishery processing residue is generated, should be able to secure hygienic raw material supply in large quantities. Thus far, it has been found that the Gyeonggi-do and Busan province, where HACCP-certified processing facilities are concentrated, and the local government Seafood Cluster and the Smart Aquaculture Cluster are at the forefront of stable, mass production of raw materials.
