  • The number of traffic accidents is about 230,000, and due to non-recurring congestion and high driving speed, the number of deaths per traffic accident on freeways is more than twice compared to other roads. Currently, traffic information is provided based on nodes and links using the centerline of the road, but it does not provide detailed speed information. Recently, installing sensors for vehicles to monitor obstacles and measure location is becoming common not only for autonomous vehicles but also for ordinary vehicles as well. The analysis using large-capacity location-based data from such sensors enables real time service according to processing speed. This study presents an mapping method for individual vehicle data analysis based on space. The processing speed of large-capacity data was increased by using method which applied a quaternary notation basis partition method that splits into two directions of longitude and latitude respectively. As the space partition was processed, the average speed was similar, but the speed standard deviation gradually decreased, and decrease range became smaller after 9th partition.

  • Recently, in the mobile device, the increase of the need for encoding and decoding of high-resolution images requires an efficient implementation of the image codec. This paper proposes a time-optimized color conversion method for the JPEG decoder, which reduces the number of calculations in the color conversion by the rearrangement of arithmetic operations being possible due to the linearity of the IDCT and the color conversion matrices and brings down the time complexity of the color conversion itself by the integer mapping replacing floating-point operations to the optimal fixed-point shift and addition operations, eventually reducing the time complexity of the JPEG decoder. And the proposed method compensates a decline of image quality incurred by the quantification error of the operation arrangement and the integer mapping by using the multi-mode chrominance reconstruction. The performance evaluation performed on the development platform of embedded systems showed that, compared to previous color conversion methods, the proposed method greatly reduces the image decoding time, minimizing the distortion of decoded images.

  • With the growth of AI technology, the scale of Knowledge Graphs continues to be expanded. Knowledge Graphs are mainly expressed as RDF representations that consist of connected triples. Many RDF storages compress and transform RDF triples into the condensed IDs. However, if we try to transform a large scale of RDF triples, it occurs the high processing time and memory overhead because it needs to search the large ID mapping table. In this paper, we propose the method of converting RDF triples using Hash-based ID mapping tables with MapReduce, which is the software framework with a parallel, distributed algorithm. Our proposed method not only transforms RDF triples into Integer-based IDs, but also improves the conversion speed and memory overhead. As a result of our experiment with the proposed method for LUBM, the size of the dataset is reduced by about 3.8 times and the conversion time was spent about 106 seconds.

  • References at the end of an academic paper are information that helps authors keep their research ethics, readers refer to related prior studies. Also references are useful information for linking citations and citations between articles. As bibliography metrics develops, bibliographic data is used as an important data for assessing the academic influence of countries, institutions and individual researchers. However, it is not easy to identify and link the reference data due to the diversity of the bibliographic citation formats, the loss of information due to the abbreviation of journal names and author names, and typos by authors. This study investigated the method of improving the bibliographic data mapping rate by analyzing the unmapped cases. As a result, it was found that the main cause of the article-reference mapping failure was the similarity of abbreviated journal names. Research team suggested that continuous management of journal title authority data and improving the DOI registration rate as ways to improve the identification and mapping rate. This study is differentiated from other studies in used database. Bibliography mapping was attempted for domestic and foreign integrated journal database that is mainly subscribed, used, published and cited in Korea. Through reference construction volume and mapping rate improvement, it can be used as citation analysis and service database reflecting domestic situation that is different from overseas citation index database.

  • It is essential to understand the role of wall lining materials when they are exposed to a fire from an ignition source. Full-scale test methods permit an assessment of the performance of a wall lining material. Fire growth models have been developed due to the costly expense associated with full-scale testing. The models require heat flux maps from the ignition burner flame as input data. Work to date was impeded by a lack of detailed spatial characterization of the heat flux maps due to the use of limited instrumentation. To increase the power of fire modeling, accurate and detailed heat flux maps from the ignition burner are essential. High level spatial resolution for surface temperature can be provided from an infrared camera. The objective of this study was to develop a heat flux mapping procedure for a room test burner flame to a wall configuration with surface temperature information taken from an infrared camera. A prototype experiment was performed using the ISO 9705 test burner to demonstrate the developed heat flux mapping procedure. The results of the experiment allow the heat flux and spatial resolutions of the method to be determined and compared to the methods currently available.

  • Korea's construction industry has a shortage and aging of construction manpower, low productivity compared to other industries, and a high rate of industrial accidents. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is preparing for the 4th industrial revolution and is expanding investment in construction automation and innovative growth engines to improve productivity in the construction industry. In order for new technologies to be utilized in the road construction field, the accuracy of the technologies and the applicability of each type of work must be evaluated. In this study, the accuracy of the mobile mapping system was tried to verify based on the relevant work regulations, and to suggest the applicability of the mobile mapping system to high-speed driving tracks through data acquisition and analysis on road construction sites. The accuracy of the equipment used in the study was verified in accordance with the relevant work regulations, and the possibility of applying the mobile mapping system used for the study to road construction surveying was presented with a maximum error of less than 10cm in the horizontal and vertical directions. In addition, the possibility of utilizing the road construction survey using the mobile mapping system was presented through comparison with the existing method for data acquisition time for construction surveying, production of construction status survey results, and calculation of heatmap and earthworks. In the future, the use of construction status surveying of the mobile mapping system will greatly improve the efficiency of construction work.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the validity, reliability and practicality of a concept map as an assessment tool in the context of biology concept learning. Forty undergraduate students participated in concept mapping, and the maps were scored by preservice science teachers, using one of three different scoring methods, that is, concept map scoring methods developed by Burry-Stock, Novak & Gowin and McClure & Bell. Two scorers were assigned to each scoring method. As far as the validity of the assessment methods was concerned, two of the three methods were found to be very valid, while Burry-Stock's scoring method was shown little valid. As far as the internal consistency of the methods was concerned, considerably high consistencies were shown between every pair of scorers, judging from high correlation coefficients between the pair of scorers for each scoring method. It took from 1.13 minutes to 3.70 minutes to assess a map at the average. It showed that concept mapping could be used in school classrooms with the limited resources of time and people. These findings suggest that the concept mapping can be an appropriate tool for assessing biology concept understandings.

  • In this study, a method for an integrated flood risk mapping was proposed that simultaneously considers the flood inundation map indicating the degree of risk and the disaster vulnerability index. This method creates a new disaster map that can be used in actual situations by providing various and specific information on a single map. In order to consider the human, social and economic factors in the disaster map, the study area was divided into exposure, vulnerability, responsiveness, and recovery factors. Then, 7 indicators for each factor were extracted using the GIS tool. The data extracted by each indicator was classified into grades 1 to 5, and the data was selected as a disaster vulnerability index and used for integrated risk mapping by factor. The risk map for each factor, which overlaps the flood inundatoin map and the disaster vulnerability index factor, was used to establish an evacuation plan by considering regional conditions including population, assets, and buildings. In addition, an integrated risk analysis method that considers risks while converting to a single vulnerability through standardization of the disaster vulnerability index was proposed. This is expected to contribute to the establishment of preparedness, response and recovery plans for providing detailed and diverse information that simultaneously considers the flood risk including social, humanistic, and economic factors.
