This survey was carried out anthropometry and questionnaires in 180 male and 141 female students of fifth-grade at Dongmak elementary school. The results are summarized as follows : 1)18.2% of the male and 19.3% of female students were obese. Underweight group was 10.5% of the male and 15.0% of the female students. 2) Average height of male and female students were 142.0㎝, 144.0㎝ and weight of those were 35.8㎏ and 37.1㎏ respectively. The height and skinfold thickness of the triceps in female students were significantly higher than those of male students and body fat content in female students was significantly lower than that of male students. There was no difference in BMI, RW and RI between male and female students. The average BMI, RW, RI were 17.7, 25.4, 124.0, respectively. 3) The student's height was positively related to parent's height and moth's weight. There were significantly positive correlation between mother's and subject's weight. BMI, RW and RI were positively related to parent's BMI. 4) 78.3% of male and 51.8% of female students had prejudice for special food, and 45.5% of male and 34.5% of female students had an overeating habit. Male students had significanthy higher rate than female in both cases. Average eating time per meal was 18.9 minutes for male and 21.0 minutes for female students. Experience for taking nutrient supplement in male student was more than that in female. Obese group had prejudice for special food, overeating habit and rapid eating rate more than any other groups. The prevalence of obesity among the children is gradually increasing. Therefore, in order to prevent progress into adulthood obesity, nutrition education including the right perception for obesity and eating behavior modification was needed.
This study was carried out to investigate the clinical characteristics of 78 diabetics by body fat distribution pattern. It was based on the survey of nutritional status, anthropometric measurements and serum components of the patients. The results were as follows: the average ages of male and female subjects were 57.1, and that of female subjects was 58.9, respectively. The average diabetic durations of male and female subjects were 4.8 and 5.9 years, respectively. In male, the ratio of upper body obese subject was 62.5% and the lower body obese subjects was 37.5%, while those of female were 69.4% and 30.6%, respectively. In nutrient intake state, there was no significant difference between male and female subjects, but calory intake of upper body obese subjects was difference between male and female subjects, but calory intake of upper body obese subjects was tend to be higher in both male and female subjects. among the three major nutrients/calory ratio, protein/calory ratio was significantly lower in the male upper body obese subjects than in the male lower body obese subjects. Since weight, circumference of arm and waist, waist hip ratio(WHR) of both male and female subjects, body muscle mass(BMM) of male subjects and body mass index (BMI) of female subjects were significantly higher in upper body obese group, upper body obese subjects represented ore fat than lower body obese subjects. In male subjects, hemoglobin(Hb), A/G of upper body obese subjects were lower than the standard value, but there was no significant difference in the serum components between two subjects. In female subjects, Hb and A/G of lower body obese subjects were lower than those of the normal subjects, but Hb and Ht of upper body obese subjects were significantly higher than those of the lower body obese subjects.
Urinary Incontinence is any leakage of urine against their will. It is not a life threatening illness but it causes negative effects both socially and psychologically. Based on many previous studies, 20-40% of adult female and 30% of men in their sixties have experienced symptoms of urinary incontinence. As the number of active aged people experiencing the symptoms increases, demand for specialized product is growing. The purpose of the study is to research the types and features of male disposable products for urinary incontinence on the market and to provide the basic data for improvement and development of better product. Products from 6 brands (Tena, Depend, Carnation, Keepers, Molimed, Abrimen) with high brand awareness both in online and offline were selected and analyzed. And product evaluation was carried out by male in their sixties with light symptom of urinary incontinence. The results are as follows. There are three types of male products for urinary incontinence: panties, diaper and pad. Among the 6 brands, the subject of analysis, only Depend from Yuhan Kimberly produces male panties while others make ones for unisex. There is no diaper product only for male, and Tena, Molimed, Abrimen have pad type products for male. Male panties from Depend emphasizes their design considering male's physical characteristics. Male pad is differentiated with female one by having different designs like triangular or pocket type which is more comforting to men. As a result of product evaluation, wearable panties similar to normal underwear were highly appreciated and satisfactory. Among various shapes of pads, 25cm long pad with wide width of front and narrow back was valued to be comfortable.
The aim of the present study was to measure intra-individual consistency in clothing and fabric evaluation and to examine its relation to the ratings. A sample of 93 female and 97 male university students rated clothing of 4 styles of daytime wear and 2 fabrics on 15 pairs of polar adjectives twice in 7-days interval. Correlation coefficients between the two ratings for each subject, intra-individual consistency in the evaluation, ranged from -0.12 to 0.89 and mean coefficient was 0.63 of female and -0.01 to 0.78 and mean coefficient was 0.54 of male. Based on the coefficients, the subjects were classified into three groups: high, medium, and low intra-individual consistency. Analysis of variance of mean ratings by the three groups revealed that significant difference existed in 24% of female and 23% of male in 90 combinations of 6 clothing and 15 semantic differential scales. Female of subjects with high intra-individual consistency were most likely definite to evaluate clothing, whereas the ones with low were least. But male subjects were not definite. Mean correlation coefficients for style evaluation subscales of female was 0.39, but male was 0.44. Among the semantic differential scales, high stability in the two ratings was observed for the synthetic clothing evaluation. Correlation coefficients for each clothing obtained from the mean score of the subjects in each semantics differential scale were around 0.98, including that the mean scores of the subjects in each scale could yield excellent stability in clothing evaluation.

A biomechanical approach was carried out to analyze foot-floor reaction forces acting on five male subjects performing a walking task. The task analyzed was walking over an obstacle with the right bare foot. The foot-floor reaction data were measured from a force plate, and then processed using a software developed. The source program was coded in the C language for easier on-line data acquisition and graphic displays. High repeatability was found in the reaction data acquired from three trials by each subject. For obstacle height from 0 to 25 cm, the maximum in reaction force reached up to 1.048 BW in the vertical, 0.174 BW in the anterior-posterior, and 0.054 BW in the medio-lateral components, respectively. A quantity was defined by the difference between two vertical reaction values, and this quantity was found to be proportional to the obstacle height. It was also shown that the whole body motion could be predicted the measured foot-floor reaction data.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of facing plan on store image and preference of young casual fashion store. The subjects were 545 male and female university students in Chungnam province. The measuring instruments were 7 stimuli manipulated by facing plan, an important VMD element, and self-administrated questionnaire consisted of store image, store preference and subject's demographic characteristics. The data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA and Duncan's multiple range test, using SPSS program. The results were as follows. First, facing type significantly affected consumer' store image; folded type had more neat and elegant image than other facing types, and face out type had most comfort image, whereas sleeve out type had discomfort image. Second, arrangement of facing types also affected store image; style arrangement had more sophisticated image than color arrangement in sleeve out type, and vertical and horizontal arrangement had more neat, sophisticated, attractive and comfort image than separate arrangement in folded type. Third, facing type affected store preference; folded type showed higher store preference than sleeve out type. Forth, arrangement of folded type affected store preference; vertical and horizontal arrangement showed higher store preference than separate arrangement. Fifth, store image and preference were different by subject's sex; male subjects perceived style arrangement as more elegant, characteristic and attractive image, and showed higher store preference than female subjects on separate arrangement of folded type.
In order to see the variation of human nature, M.M.P.I. was carried on 2, April 1992 (the last day of the second lunar month) and 15, June 1992 (the fifteenth day of the fifth lunar month). These experiments took male and female students who were in Won kwang University as subjects (108 students on 2, April, 105 students on 15, June). The results of it suggested the followings. 1) Every students' average of T-grades on each measure were in a normal scope. 2) There were no significant differences in comparison between the fifteenth day and the last day of the month. 3) On every measure except L, Mf, Si, the female students showed higher grade in the fifteenth day than the last day of the month. But there was no significant difference in male students. Both male and female students didn't show the significant one. 4) On the fifteenth day of the month, the female students showed higher T-grade then male did on every measure except Mf, Ma, Si. There was a significant difference on D, Pd, Mf(P<0.05) measure. 5) On the last day of the month, male students showed higher T-grade then female did on every measure except L, K, Hy, Pt. There was a significant difference on L(P<0.001), K(P<0.01). 6) On experiments about female students, there was no symptom of neurosis and psychosis on the last day of the month. But three of sixteen students(18.7%) showed symptom of neurosis, one of thirteen(6%) showed symptom of psychosis on the fifteenth day of the month. On experiments about male students, eleven of ninety-two(11.9%), four of ninety-two(4.3%) showed symptom of neurosis and psychosis respectively on the fifteenth day of the month. Ten of ninety-two(10.8%), six of ninety-two(6.5%) showed symptom of neurosis and psychosis respectively on the last day of the month. As the results of the above, human nature changes to some extend according to lunar cycle. And there are many changes in female than male. But it is difficult to generalize this fact by limited subject and only one experiments. So the controlled studies are needed on the basis of this result and have to take many person as a subject.
