  • Modern ceramics is exploring the expansion of the area with various expression techniques. The silhouette technique among various expressive decoration techniques is a representative expression technique of object form expression. This emphasizes the outline of the form and expresses it and omits the inner form. It gives simplicity and intensity, and awakens aesthetic sensibility and imagination. Therefore, the researcher designed the material related to the core image of the story by designing it as a silhouette technique by using the "Acorn Story" as a subject and then making the transfer paper by using the vector graphic. The transferred paper was expressed on a ceramic plate by transferring technique. Therefore, I hope that this research, beyond the merely decorative function of ceramic expression, will become a ceramic design that will awaken imagination and aesthetic sensibility in digital information age.

  • This thesis has three main purposes: first, will show kinds, patterns, types, expression techniques of modern korean women's trimmings by every ten years. Second, it is to trace the effect of each decade on women's Hanbok trimming designs. Third, it will point out factors. that caused the change of modern Korean women's Hanbok trimming design patterns. Henceforth, there comes the result of the research and analysis. Trimming design patterns of modern women's Hanbok can be divided into three categories temporally: The first period of from 1910s to the first half of 1950s saw that design patterns did not changed much from traditional ones. It is because there were many catastrophes such as the invasion of Japanese Empire and Korean War. The compound design had expressed people's wish to earn many sons and babies at the end of Joseon Dynasty. But it turned to wishing luck for individuals affected by individualism and liberalism imported from the west. Realistic designs are the most frequently used and the least lines made up patterns. The second period of from the latter half of 1950s to 1970s saw that women wore their Jeogories and Chimas as suits. Screen printing technique enabled for various design patterns to come out. And the development of textile industry introduced various expression techniques such as making lace, meshing, flocking, burn-out etc cetera. The third period of 1980s saw that Hanbok became a kind of luxurious clothe as people's living standard rose. Hanbok again came into the spotlight, Hanbok designers came forward and their individualities are respected. The characteristic expression technique of grey-dying and geometric design patterns are more frequently used for the simple and modern beauty.

  • The current study aims to link Korean tradition to modern culture; to re-produce patterns of lotus depicted in Minwha, The study also aims to discover the beauty of Korean tradition and to modernize it. The current study is based upon document searches(including research papers) and the Internet searches. Through these searches, it investigates the concept of Minhwa, the origin of lotus depiction and its symbolic meanings, the traits of such pattern. Based upon this investigation, the study attempts to modernize the patterns of lotus and apply the modernized patterns to designing shirts. The process which employs the lotus patterns illustrated in Minhwa to shirt design includes four sub-processes: selecting, allocating, coloring, and selecting production techniques. The sub- process of selecting patterns is two folded: the first stage covers carbon-copying the distinctive features of lotus, lotus leaf, lotus bud, lotus pip, and lotus stem; the second stage is making these features suitable to shirt sizes. For the process of coloring those shirts, Piccaso's work(Pablo Picasso, 1881~1973) has been selected and the colors in his work have been adopted to dye the rest of the shirts as well as the lotus features. The process of selecting production techniques includes ornament tail in order to modernize the patterns allocated in the shirts. Once these processes are completed, the shirts are made on a scale of real-life size. These processes of creating shirt design by modernizing traditional patterns will hopefully contribute to researchers expanding the domain of shirt design.

  • The purpose of this study is to present a classification system of the hand-made and machine-made lace according to the configuration method and re-make the category and definition of lace to consider the emergence and development of major laces techniques. The re-made category and definition of the lace is as follows. The lace usually consists of ground and motifs, however, the techniques of netting and sprang are suitable for making ground than motif, so I think it is appropriate to exclude them from the category of the lace. Many scholars are excluded openwork embroidery fabric from the category of the lace. But, an openwork embroidery fabric is the basis of a needle point lace called true lace and is consist of motif and ground. I think it is appropriate to include it in the category of the lace. I think it is also appropriate to include in the category of the lace that the eyelet embroidery fabric which mimics the openwork embroidery fabric in the machine. Lace is redefined that a fabric with openwork decoration consists of motif and ground, constructed by a variety of ways such as plaiting, twisting, looping, knotting of threads or embroidering by hand or machine. The classification of the lace is presented as follows. Hand-made lace is classified bobbin lace, needle point lace, embroidery lace, knotted lace, crochet lace, and knitting lace. Machine-made lace is classified raschel lace, leaver lace, torchon lace, and machine-made embroidery laces which include tool lace, eyelet embroidery lace, chemical lace, etc.

  • Advanced construction technologies have been rarely applied to practical construction operations on jobsites due to a lack of quantified evaluation data of the performance of such technologies. The basic objective of this study is to suggest a feasible way for the evaluation of the performance of new technologies based on construction simulation techniques, which have been frequently used in academic research for productivity estimation. Steel staircase systems were selected as the new technology to be investigated. The simulation was implemented in various ways, such as one staircase to six staircases on a floor. The simulation results provided in this study suggest that planners are able to make a fundamental decision on the use of targeted new technology with the estimated performance data (productivity and unit costs). These findings also indicate that a simulation technique could be one of the methods appropriate for use as a planner's decision-making tool.

  • Problem solving and/or decision making process usually encountered in human living consists of a sequence of human behaviors based upon his/her knowledge. Thus, Rasmussen introduced Skill-Rule-Knowledge paradigm to countermeasure human errors that can occur in Nuclear Power Plants. Unfortunately however, it was not so easy as expected since objective evidence have not been obtainable with conventional research techniques. With the help of EEG band pawer ratio techniques, this study tried to get psycho-physiological symptoms of human errors, if any, while human beings perform knowledge-based behaviors such as simple arithmetic computations with different difficulty level. A set of simulated works was carried out with a computer station. Four kinds of arithmetic computation tasks were given to 10 health male under-graduate students on different day individually, and during the experiment, EEG and ECG was measured continuously for objective psycho-physiological analysis. According to the results, ${\alpha}$/(${\alpha}+{\beta}$) as well as ${\alpha}/{\beta}$ band power ratio were sensitive to task difficulty level which consistently decreased both. However, any one of them failed to reveal the influence of tasks with different difficulty level in the aspect of task duration time. On the contrary, Heart Rate Variability was more suggestive than expected. To make a conclusion, it can be said that band power of EEG waves will be helpful in not only assessment of work difficulty level but also assessment of workers' skill development if supported by cardiac function such as HRV.

  • Although many companies acknowledge the necessity of investment of information security, it is difficult to grasp a tangible effect and to calculate a scale of damage from the security incident. Consequently, companies are under the reality that it is not easy to make an investment decision for information security and to calculate the investment scale. For the investment decision making, although there are several traditional techniques of investment analysis, the investment of information security, comparing to other tangible assets, has limitations in using traditional techniques due to the highly uncertain investment effects. In this study, the traditional technique of investment analysis will be described, and the application method of analytic technique for Real Option, which is developed from the evaluation technique of highly uncertain financial futures and options, will be suggested.

  • In recent years, wireless sensor networks(WSNs) have emerged as a new fast-growing application domain for wireless distributed computing and embedded systems. Recent Progress in computer and communication technology has made it possible to organize wireless sensor networks composed tiny sensor nodes. Furthermore, ad-hoc network protocols do not consider the characteristics of wireless sensor nodes, making existing ad-hoc network protocols unsuitable for the wireless sensor networks. First, we propose power-aware routing protocols based on energy-centered routing metrics. Second, we describe power management techniques for wireless sensor nodes using the spatial locality of sensed data. Many nodes can go into a power-down mode without sacrificing the accuracy of sensed data. Finally, combining the proposed techniques, we describe an overall energy-efficient protocol for data collection. Experimental results show that the proposed routing protocol can extend the routing path lifetime more than twice. The average energy consumption per sensing period is reduced by up to 30%.

  • The illegal copying and redistribution of digitally-stored information is a crucial problem to distributors who electronically sell digital data. Fingerprinting scheme is a techniques which supports copyright protection to track redistributors of electronic information using cryptographic techniques. Anonymous fingerprinting schemes, differ from symmetric fingerprinting, prevent the merchant from framing a buyer by making the fingerprinted version known to the buyer only. And the scheme, differ from asymmetric fingerprinting, allows the buyer to purchase goods without revealing her identity to the merchant. In this paper, a new anonymous fingerprinting scheme based on secret sharing is introduced. The merchant finds a sold version that has been distributed, and then he is able to retrieve a buyer's identity and take her to court. And Schnorr's digital signature prevents the buyer from denying the fact he redistributed. The buyer's anonymity relies on the security of discrete logarithm and secure two-party computations.

  • With the help of computer graphics technologies, the visual effects techniques using these technologies replaced most of special effects techniques which had been used for early films. For these changes, directors and visual effects creators make an effect in a scene through their mutual agreement in contemporary films. However, they undergo a lot of trial-and-error while making a visual effects scene because they cannot perfectly communicate their ideas due to the director's narrative language, and also because of the visual effect creator's language of computer graphics technology. This research suggests the design of a visual effects data retrieval system for efficient communication between directors and visual effects creators. This application provides the means to search a database analyzing visual effects scenes extracted from 14 remarkable movies in visual effect history by narrative and visual effects technique. They can search visual effects scenes using this application. also, this data can foster communication with directors and creators so they can make an efficient production pipeline.
