  • In 1987 Ministry of Education published the 5th-revised version of curriculm, the main goal of which is to improve science and culture as well as to educate the students who are able to actively adapt to the 21st century's society. Howerver, the revised curriculum neglects the problems associated with the nature of and localized characteristics of science education. Therefore this research had its main objective to survey and analyze the status of science education of secondary schools in Kangwon Province and, based on the results, to develop the teaching/learning materials appropriate for science education in this province. This research is 3d-Year project and this paper is about its first year research results. The first year's main objective is to investigate and analyze the status of middle school science education, focusing on the curricular operation, science teachers, and lavoratory facilities and instruments. This research used the survey methods. The questionaires were sent to all the middle schools the number of which is 163, and 162 schools of which returned the survey questionaires. Based on the analyses of the data following conclusions were drawn. The average class size is 48.8 students. Almost all of the middle schools alocate the science class hours per week of 4,3,4 hours to first, second, third grade, respectively. However, the greater part of science teachers want 5,4,5 hours of science classes a week. Total number of science teachers exeeds the number actually needed, implicating that many science teachers are teaching non-major subjects. The lavoratory facilities and instruments are not sufficiently provided for lavoratory-based science education. Along with these conclusinons suggestions for better science educations are recommanded. Among the suggestions two are highly emphasized. They are: to increase science class hours; to use field lavoratory substituting for school lavoratory.

  • To figure out the present status of Korean middle school science curriculum in the national level is not an easy job. especially in the restricted condition such as this research project. Therefore, to achieve a meaningful result, the case study type of research was adopted In the study five middle schools (2boy's and 3girl's)were selected and examined intensively. In this study, two major works were done. One was the analysis of the present middle school science curriculum and the other was to examine the current status of the administration of the curriculum in schools. This first study focused on the evaluation of the current Curriculum. Acording to the result, the objectives stated in the teachers guide and implied by the testbook were heavily concentrated on the knowledge level in Boom's taxonomy. Achievement on the objectives which were selected as important were very low. The average pass rate for the selected objectives was less than 50% of the students. This means the content level of the present science curriculum is not appropriate. The study suggested that the present middle school science curriculum should be revised and the content should be replaced with easier topics to match the students cognitive level. The study also suggested further studies to measure the cognitive level of Korean students in national scale.

Almost all students confused between conditions necessary for germination and growth. Water and sunlight were mentioned by many students, while air and temperature were mentioned by a few students as the condition. 3. Some of the students showed that growth occurs continuously. Many students explaned occurence of growth about Plants related to the night, monning, or evening. 4. • In this study, through a survey on traffic safety campaigns for electric wheelchairs for the disabled, we found out what is necessary to solve the inconvenience of disabled people driving electric wheelchairs and living in society. The conclusions for each role of the severely disabled are as follows. The government has enacted a law on fostering convenience facilities for the disabled in accordance with reality so that the disabled, who are vulnerable to transportation, do not have any inconvenience in their social lives. However, it is not kept in reality, so there are many obstacles to the social activities of the disabled. In addition, local governments should subscribe to electric wheelchair insurance for the disabled to minimize the damage to the disabled in the event of an electric wheelchair accident. Organizations related to the disabled provide safety wheelchair driving education to prevent electric wheelchair accidents in advance and receive complaints about inconvenience. It can be concluded that people with severe disabilities can prevent accidents in advance by installing a moving ring tone on an electric wheelchair so that they can know the movement of the surrounding wheelchair.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of academic resilience and interpersonal competence on the happiness of nursing students. A descriptive design was used to study 158 nursing students in nursing school through convenience sampling. IBM SPSS ver. 23.0 (IBM Corp., Armonk, NY, USA) was used to analyze data for descriptive statistics, t-test, analysis of variance, Tukey post hoc test, Pearson's correlations, and multiple regressions. The results showed that the level of nursing students' happiness was lower than that of college students in other majors, but academic resilience and interpersonal competence among nursing students were relatively high. Nursing students' happiness was positively correlated with academic resilience and interpersonal competence. The factors affecting happiness were academic resilience (${\beta}=0.459$, p<0.001), satisfaction with major (${\beta}=0.272$, p=0.006), perceived subjective health status (${\beta}=0.223$, p=0.013), and interpersonal competence (${\beta}=0.185$, p=0.003). Explained variance for happiness was 56.4%, and academic resilience was the most influential factor in the happiness of nursing students. Nursing students are caring human beings and should be able to pursue a happy life; therefore, it is necessary to improve satisfaction levels with the nursing major, guide students to excel in their academic achievement, prepare health education programs, and design curriculum that inspires confidence in interpersonal relationships.
