  • The purpose of this study is to analyze current state of education departments in Korean universities and to find out ways to help education major students shape their future career. The findings of the study are as follows. First, the comparative analysis of the current state of education and education-related departments showed that average employment rate of education departments in 2011 was 35.0%, whereas that of related departments was 56.6%, which showed a significant difference. Second, education courses were specialized in areas such as lifelong educator qualifications, teaching certificates in morality/ethics, corporate HRD(human resource development), etc. in case of education departments. In case of education-related departments, education courses were specialized in areas such as teaching certificates in pedagogy, lifelong educator qualifications, license of school counselor, corporate HRD, etc. Though there were many overlapping areas, specialization was relatively more common and diverse in education-related departments. Next, to help students shape their future career, developments in specialized career courses, new career fields, and career education models were suggested. To give shape to the progress plans, the development of standard education courses for student careers, the introduction of certification system about course specialization, and search for the career path of teaching profession which allows utilization of the knowledge of education were suggested.

Although special security guards took charge of its defence system from 2002, they have failed to establish its system firmly due to some institutional inertia. And 'Professionalism' appeared to be the mattter, according to the spot-probe and interviews. The purpose of this essay is to devise measures to develop sepecial security system including its specialization through investigating current educational training system. In order to attain professionalism, establishment of new proffessional school, division of current education system(into common education and full-course education), and reinforcement of substantial inspection activity should be preceded. Moreover, inspection activity should include standards for engaging instructors, establishment of compilation committee for editorial supervision, and establishment of clear educational policy. • This study particularly looked at educational philosophy and content of Design Academy Eindhoven in Holland which provides multidisciplinary design education. For it might be important data for examining the educational substance and directivity in design that help construct education system in design for a new era among the varying design paradigm. The biggest feature of DAE education system designed for students to optimize their ability with systematic education of 8 contexts with 4 approaches through innovative specialty system. Besides, their interaction helps students major in what is individual specialty. Most of all, the study on the contents of DAE's multidisciplinary education is expected to be significant data for our design education that lacks integrative perspective in the respect that students might be able to develop their identity as an individual designer in changing society beyond the mere technical and formative level of design.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the number of university entrants influenced by the population decline of school age, to discuss the major issues of university restructuring policy initiated by government, and to suggest the mid- to long-term policy agenda on university restructuring. According to the analysis of university enrollment changes, university enrollment quota will decrease to 29% of year 2013. And the ratio of private university enrollment and the entrants of universities in the metropolitan areas will increase. Under these circumstances, it is highly concerned that high school graduates will be more concentrated to private universities located in the metropolitan areas. The government policy on university restructuring have several problems on the direction, the pursuing strategies, and the negative impacts of it. This study suggested the new paradigm for the university development and also the alternative strategies such as the balanced development in universities, financial support system, school-to-work policy, university collaboration system, and an enactment of university development.

  • This study, was done to compare the nursing education systems of China and South Korea (Korea), then, on the basis of this comparison, to examine the direction of nursing education in China. The results the study are as follows : 1. Nursing education in Korea was influenced by social change, political policy, but as it was established, nurses in Korea, were able actively involved in presenting nursing education development proposals to the government, and in developing nursing education through their own efforts. Nursing education in China developed through the political policy of a socialist Country. During the period of modernization after 1977, a nursing education developed very quickly, In 1983, the first baccalaureate nursing education program was established and, in 1992, the first masters program was opened. 2. In Korea, there are two nursing education systems; diploma and baccalaureate, and there is only one entry level, high school graduation. In China today, on the other hand, there are three types of nursing education systems; technical, diploma, and baccalaureate, and they have middle school and high school graduation as the two levels of entry. 3. There are similarities between China and Korea in curriculums for nursing education which include the major nursing concepts. But in descriptions of the education objectives, China the emphasis is on training the 'expert' in clinical nursing which is not consistent with their educational philosophy. Korea differs from China in that the focus is on training for 'multiple ability' to be used in both clinical and community environments. 4. In Korea, the curriculum is organized with the theoretical and clinical experience combined. The curriculum is oriented to the life cycle and human developmental process. In China, however, the curriculum is organized so that after finishing the theoretical part of the curriculum, the students begin a one year intensive field experience in which the major clinical field is the hospital, and the focus is on disease oriented care and research ability. 5. In order for nurses to be proposed to address nursing education system needs follows : to change as The new nursing education system should be baccalaureate education in order to improve the education level in all nursing education programs, to develop doctoral programs, to open nurse specialist programs, and to develop a new curriculum based nursing philosophy and health delivery system change. New nursing curriculum for health care in China in the 21st century should be directed by a framework based on nursing philosophy, objectives and nursing content. In conclusion, the study will contribute China nursing education system revolution for policy develop and curriculum research. According to these results, in the future, nurses in China should be more actively involved in research and in a nursing education revolution, Also they should be involved in building information networks and in developing long term projects in nursing education.

In the present admission system in Yonsei College of Medicine, college or university graduates with diverse majors such as pharmacy, biochemistry, engineering, social science and so on other than a medical major can be transferred into the undergraduate medical course when vacancy for enrollment is available. This study was performed to analyze the academic achievement of the transferred students for establishing a new admission system. In this study, the GPAs of 94 medical students transferred for 1998 to 2006 years were analyzed regarding academic and personal background, and compared with those of untrans- ferred medical students. • As Operating System is a course about computer system resource management, it is very important to the computer related major students. Asynchronous concurrent processes in a Operating System class is rather difficult to understand. Because most students are not able to understands the part with the explanation and the pseudo code in a text, they need to execute the concurrent programs which are implementing the pseudo code. In this paper, we implemented executable programs using Java thread for the code and proposed those programs to apply to the Operating System education.

  • Collaborative filtering is a popular technique for recommender systems and used in many practical commercial systems. Its basic principle is select similar neighbors of a current user and from their past preference information on items the system makes recommendations for the current user. One of the major problems inherent in this type of system is data sparsity of ratings. This is mainly caused from the underlying similarity measures which produce neighbors based on the ratings records. This paper handles this problem and suggests a new similarity measure. The proposed method takes users rating patterns into account for computing similarity, without just relying on the commonly rated items as in previous measures. Performance experiments of various existing measures are conducted and their performance is compared in terms of major performance metrics. As a result, the proposed measure reveals better or comparable achievements in all the metrics considered.
