이기종 네트워크의 QoS 향상을 위한 Hybrid ABS기반 셀 간 스케줄링 알고리즘 (Hybrid ABS based Inter-Cell Scheduling Algorithms for QoS Improvement of Heterogeneous Networks)

  • 본 논문에서는 이기종 네트워크의 QoS 성능 향상을 위한 멀티 셀 스케줄링을 제안한다. 제안된 알고리즘 구현을 위하여 UE 처리량에 미치는 영향을 인식하고자 분산형 구조의 매크로-피코 배치 시나리오와 중앙 집중식 구조의 매크로-RRH 배치 시나리오를 제안하여 이기종 네트워크 시스템을 구성한다. 제안되는 시스템의 간섭완화를 위해 선택적 서브프레임을 적용하고 각 서브프레임 기간의 CQI 측정을 통하여 시스템 상황에 따른 제약조건을 측정하며, 시스템의 단순화를 위해서 동일한 ABS를 적용하여 뮤팅 패턴을 가정한다. ABS를 이용하는 것은 전송시간 구간의 일부를 매크로 셀이 전송하지 않게 설정하고 이 구간에서 피코 셀에서만 전송하도록 설정하기 위한 것이다.

  • 현대의 서버 시스템은 대부분의 경우 클러스터 시스템으로 이루어지어 가능한 많은 사용자를 지원할 뿐만 아니라 가능한 많은 어플리케이션을 지원하는 것을 목적으로 하는 서비스 지향 클러스터 시스템이다. 클러스터 시스템 아키텍쳐의 발전으로 자바 프레임웍에 기반한 미들웨어 어프로치가 발전하고 있다. 미들웨어에 의한 방법은 서버 시스템의 성능과 어플리케이션의 활용도를 보장하면서도 서버 시스템 구축을 위한 대부분의 노력을 덜어준다. 본 연구에서는 JMX를 이용하여 클러스터 시스템의 손쉬운 구현과 관리를 달성할 수 있는 새로운 클러스터 시스템을 소개한다. 일단 클러스터 시스템의 구축과 구성단계를 보이며, 어플리케이션과 시스템 양자에 걸쳐서 손쉬운 구축과 확장, 그리고 관리가 미들웨어에 기반한 시스템에서 이루어짐을 보인다. 덧붙여 서비스 지향 클러스터 시스템이 미들웨어에 기반하여 우수한 성능을 보임을 성능 평가 실험 결과를 통하여 검증하였다. 기본적인 성능 평가 결과는 서버의 가용성, 그리고 로드 밸런싱과 스케쥴링 알고리즘의 효율성을 검증하였다. 특히, 우리의 서비스기반 스케줄링 방법이 정상부하시 적재불균형문제와 과부하시의 대처능력에서 타 방법에 비해 우수함을 보였다.

Fatigue life prediction based on Bayesian approach to incorporate field data into probability model

  • In fatigue life design of mechanical components, uncertainties arising from materials and manufacturing processes should be taken into account for ensuring reliability. A common practice is to apply a safety factor in conjunction with a physics model for evaluating the lifecycle, which most likely relies on the designer's experience. Due to conservative design, predictions are often in disagreement with field observations, which makes it difficult to schedule maintenance. In this paper, the Bayesian technique, which incorporates the field failure data into prior knowledge, is used to obtain a more dependable prediction of fatigue life. The effects of prior knowledge, noise in data, and bias in measurements on the distribution of fatigue life are discussed in detail. By assuming a distribution type of fatigue life, its parameters are identified first, followed by estimating the distribution of fatigue life, which represents the degree of belief of the fatigue life conditional to the observed data. As more data are provided, the values will be updated to reduce the credible interval. The results can be used in various needs such as a risk analysis, reliability based design optimization, maintenance scheduling, or validation of reliability analysis codes. In order to obtain the posterior distribution, the Markov Chain Monte Carlo technique is employed, which is a modern statistical computational method which effectively draws the samples of the given distribution. Field data of turbine components are exploited to illustrate our approach, which counts as a regular inspection of the number of failed blades in a turbine disk.

도심항공교통(Urban Air Mobility) 운영 최적화 연구 동향에 관한 연구 (Research on Urban Air Mobility Operations Optimization Research Trends)

  • 우리나라 정부와 산업계는 도심항공교통(UAM) 서비스 상용화를 위한 로드맵을 제시하고 본격적으로 추진하고 있다. 본격적인 UAM 서비스의 도입을 위해서는 우수한 성능의 기체개발, 네트워크 거점과 회랑(corridor) 설계, 운영관리 최적화, 관련 법과 제도의 정비 등 해결해야 할 다양한 이슈를 가지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 운영관리 최적화 측면에서 우리나라를 중심으로 분야별 연구 동향을 살펴보고 추후 해결해야 할 연구 주제를 정리하여 제시하고자 한다. 국내 연구자는 UAM 서비스 이용요금, 이용 의도와 수용 모델, 버티포트 위치선정을 중심으로 연구가 진행되고 있으나 향후에는 서비스 주문 수락(order acceptance), 항공기 재배치(repositioning), 배터리 충전과 유지보수(charging and maintenance) 스케쥴링 등의 운영 최적화 연구가 필요함을 제시하였다.

  • Recently, monitoring systems, such as POP, take a core role in scheduling or planning of manufacturing facilities for production, maintenance, and so on. Such monitoring systems require functionalities for real-time parameter monitoring and controlling to maximize efficiency of facilities. However, vendors usually do not provide internal communication protocols or interface to access the machine controller. Therefore, the values of parameters related to machine operations and controls cannot be easily accessed from external devices. In this paper, we propose an interface methodology for a real-time monitoring and controlling of injection molding machine parameters such as user input parameters, embedded sensor data and injection molding status information.

  • This study develops a new system for generation system simulation and operational planning (namely, KPWR-X) including GMS(Generator Maintenance Scheduling), UC(Unit Commitment), and LF(Load Forecasting) for new power system environment in recent. The KPWR-X provides operator and planner to help the generation system more safely and economically. GUI developed in this study makes operator feel in convenient to control whole power system. In future, it is expected that generation company, ISO, and fuel procurement, etc. may use an instructional tool developer's suggestion for application. It will be also applicable to establish the operational strategies for generation control, fuel procurement and power system risk management.

  • The airport processes are restricted by some limits of performance objects as size of airport, ability of human resources, capacity of facilities and operational rules. These limitations make passenger handling difficult when passenger numbers increase. In order to solve this problem, we modeled the airport process and analyzed departure passenger arrival, scheduled security manpower under specific customer service level maintenance with mixed integer programming and validate the efficiency with simulation with adapting smart airport framework. We concluded that the airport management with information techniques can reduce waiting time within security and immigration process.

Modelling of On-Site Energy Consumption Profile in Construction Sites and a Case Study of Earth Moving

  • The annual expenditure on diesel oil and heavy oil in the construction sector is the second largest among all industrial sectors. According to the greenhouse reduction scheme of Korean Government, construction sector targeted 7.1% reduction by 2020. Although this target is not higher than other industrial sectors, it is not easy to achieve the reduction target without radical advance in technology, which cannot be expected to happen soon, considering the conservative characteristics of construction industry. Most researches on environmental issues focus on the issues related to energy saving matters during material production stage or maintenance stage, such as heating and insulation, and few deal with the issues directly related to the energy use in the construction sites. This research regards the operation of equipment for the on-site construction processes as a system and attempts to model the energy use processes related to the activities in construction sites, and provides simulation results of earth excavation and hauling processes. The result of this research is expected to aid construction planners estimating the time-based patterns of energy use and assessing greenhouse gas emission and to help selecting more energy efficient alternatives at the planning stage.

소형 다관절로봇을 위한 운용 소프트웨어 구현 (Implementation of Operating Software for Small Multi-Jointed Robots)

  • The small multi-jointed robots for most education are developed with the way of firmware. But the firmware may be very difficult to develop as gradually increasing throughputs and control routines. Due to limit of firmware we try to use on RTOS, but hard to adapt on the small multi-jointed robots. It would be hard to install RTOS into the small multi-jointed robots because of the size capacity of RTOS, and lack of libraries for control of the particular hardware. Moreover, even its RTOS with many functions causes its to make overheads scheduling, TCB (Task Control Block), and task states. Also to keep maintenance of RTOS, it is composed of components for the whole structure of my proposed RTOS. Additionally, We provided with libraries of servo motor and sensor control and developed RMS (Rate Montonic scheduler) to handle tasks on real time and reduce overheads. Therefore, It is possible to work the fixed priority and task preemptive way. We show one example of the multi-jointed robot installed with my proposed RTOS, which shows to obstacle avoidance and climbing up the slope.

'Knowing' with AI in construction - An empirical insight

  • Construction is a collaborative endeavor. The complexity in delivering construction projects successfully is impacted by the effective collaboration needs of a multitude of stakeholders throughout the project life-cycle. Technologies such as Building Information Modelling and relational project delivery approaches such as Alliancing and Integrated Project Delivery have developed to address this conundrum. However, with the onset of the pandemic, the digital economy has surged world-wide and advances in technology such as in the areas of machine learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) have grown deep roots across specializations and domains to the point of matching its capabilities to the human mind. Several recent studies have both explored the role of AI in the construction process and highlighted its benefits. In contrast, literature in the organization studies field has highlighted the fear that tasks currently done by humans will be done by AI in future. Motivated by these insights and with the understanding that construction is a labour intensive sector where knowledge is both fragmented and predominantly tacit in nature, this paper explores the integration of AI in construction processes across project phases from planning, scheduling, execution and maintenance operations using literary evidence and experiential insights. The findings show that AI can complement human skills rather than provide a substitute for them. This preliminary study is expected to be a stepping stone for further research and implementation in practice.
