By substituting Mn or Cr for Co in inverse spinel $CoFe_2O_4,\;Mn_xCo_{1-x}Fe_2O_4\;and\;Cr_xCo_{1-x}Fe_2O_4$ and thin films were prepared by sol-gel method and their structural and magnetic properties were investigated. X-ray diffraction indicates that the cubic lattice constant increase for the Mn substitution while it hardly changes for the Cr substitution. Substitution of $Mn^{2+}$ for octahedral $Co^{2+}$ sites can explain the increase of lattice constant in $Mn_xCo_{1-x}Fe_2O_4$. On the other hand, Substitution of $Cr^{3+}$ for octahedral $Co^{2+}$ and subsequent reduction of $Fe^{3+}$ ion into $Fe^{2+}$ are expected to happen. Mossbauer spectroscopy measurements on $Cr_xCo_{1-x}Fe_2P_4$ indicate the existence of tetrahedral $Fe^{2+}$ ions that are created through reduction of tetrahedral $Fe^{3+}$ ions in order to compensate charge imbalance happened by $Cr^{3+}$ substitution for octahedral $Co^{2+}$ sites. On the other hand, no $Fe^{2+}$ ions were detected by Mossbauer spectroscopy for $Mn_xCo_{1-x}Fe_2O_4$. A migration of $Fe^{3+}$ ions from octahedral to tetrahedral sites In $Mn_xCo_{1-x}Fe_2O_4$ was detected by Mossbauer spectroscopy for x>0.47. Vibrating sample magnetometry measurements on the samples at room temperature revealed that the saturation magnetization increases by Mn and Cr substitution for certain range of x, qualitatively explainable in terms of the comparison of spin magnetic moment among the related transition-metal ions.
The iron-doped perovskite La$_{0.67}$Sr$_{0.33}$Mn$_{0.99}$$^{57}$Fe$_{0.01}$O$_3$compound has been studied by x-ray diffraction, Mossbauer spectroscopy, and vibrating sample magnetometry. The single phase of the polycrystalline La$_{0.67}$Sr$_{0.33}$Mn$_{0.99}$$^{57}$Fe$_{0.01}$O$_3$powder has been prepared by a waterbased solgel method. Crystalline La$_{0.67}$Sr$_{0.33}$Mn$_{0.99}$$^{57}$Fe$_{0.01}$O$_3$was a rombohedral structure with lattice parameters a$_{0}$=5.480 $AA$, $alpha$=60.259$^{circ}$. Mossbauer spectra of La$_{0.67}$Sr$_{0.3}$/Mn$_{0.99}$$^{57}$Fe$_{0.01}$O$_3$have been taken at various temperatures ranging from 20 to 400 K. As the temperature increases toward the Curie temperature, T$_{c}$=375 K, the Mossbauer spectra show line broadening and the difference between the 1,6 and 3,4 linewidths is caused by the anisotropic hyperfine field fluctuation. The anisotropic field fluctuation of +H (P$_{+}$=0.80) is greater than -H (P$_{-}$=0.20). We calculated that the anisotropy energy was 124.01 erg/cm$^3$for T=150 K which is associated with the large line broadening.
Background: Hydrogels are a class of polymers that can absorb water or biological fluids and swell to several times their dry volume, dependent on changes in the external environment. In recent years, hydrogels and hydrogel nanocomposites have found a variety of biomedical applications, including drug delivery and cancer treatment. The incorporation of nanoparticulates into a hydrogel matrix can result in unique material characteristics such as enhanced mechanical properties, swelling response, and capability of remote controlled actuation. Materials and Methods: In this work, synthesis of hydrogel nanocomposites containing magnetic nanoparticles are studied. At first, magnetic nanoparticles ($Fe_3O_4$) with an average size 10 nm were prepared. At second approach, thermo and pH-sensitive poly (N-isopropylacrylamide -co-methacrylic acid-co-vinyl pyrrolidone) (NIPAAm-MAA-VP) were prepared. Swelling behavior of co-polymer was studied in buffer solutions with different pH values (pH=5.8, pH=7.4) at $37^{\circ}C$. Magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles ($Fe_3O_4$) and doxorubicin were incorporated into copolymer and drug loading was studied. The release of drug, carried out at different pH and temperatures. Finally, chemical composition, magnetic properties and morphology of doxorubicin-loaded magnetic hydrogel nanocomposites were analyzed by FT- IR, vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Results: The results indicated that drug loading efficiency was increased by increasing the drug ratio to polymer. Doxorubicin was released more at $40^{\circ}C$ and in acidic pH compared to that $37^{\circ}C$ and basic pH. Conclusions: This study suggested that the poly (NIPAAm-MAA-VP) magnetic hydrogel nanocomposite could be an effective carrier for targeting drug delivery systems of anti-cancer drugs due to its temperature sensitive properties.
By substituting Cr in inverse-spinel $Fe_3O_4,\;Cr_xFe_{3-x}O_4$ thin film samples were prepared by sol-gel spin-coating method and their structural electronic, and magnetic properties were analyzed. X-ray diffraction indicates that the lattice constant decrease with increasing Cr composition (x). This result can be explained in terms of occupation of octahedral sites by $Cr^{3+}$ ions with smaller ionic radius than that of $Fe^{3+}$ Vibrating sample magnetometry measurements on the samples at room temperature revealed that saturation magnetization ($M_s$) decrease by Cr substitution, explainable by comparing spin magnetic moment among the related transition-metal ions. A decrease of magnetoresistence effect with x was observed, similar to that of $M_s$. The coercivity of the $Cr_xFe_{3-x}O_4$ films was found to increase with x, attributed to the increase of magnetic anisotropy by the existence of octahedral $Cr^{3+}(d^3)$.
The $Al_{0.2}CoFe_{1.8}O_4$ ferrite films and powders were prepared by the sol-gel method. The crystallographic and magnetic properties of the samples were examined with annealing temperature by X-ray diffraction, $M\ddot{o}ssbauer$ spetroscopy and vibrating sample magnetometry. The powder samples showed the presence of spinel structure at annealing temperatures above 673 K, while the film samples indicated the spinel structure above 873 K, also the particle size increased with rising annealing temperatures. The $M\ddot{o}ssbauer$ spectra of $Al_{0.2}CoFe_{1.8}O_4$ powder annealed above 873 K could be fitted as the superposition of two Zeeman sextets due to ferrimagnetic phase. And the spectra of annealed at 673 K exhibited the superposition of ferrimanetic and paramagnetic phase and those of annealed at 473 K showed only a paramagnetic phase. The magnetic behaviour of powders appeared that the coercivity increased until annealed at 673 K but decreased above this temperature. The coercivity of the film samples decreased from 1.084 kOe at 873 K to 0.540 kOe at 1073 K with increasing annealing temperatures.
CoCr$_{x}$ Fe$_{2-x}$O$_4$(0.0$\leq$x$\leq$1.0) ferrites have been fabricated by sol-gel method. The crystallographic and magnetic properties of the samples were investigated by means of x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscophy, Mossbauer spectroscopy and vibrating sample magnetometry. The structure of all the samples is cubic spinel type and the lattice constant decrease with increasing Cr content. The substituted Cr ions were located only in the B-site. The particle size also decreases with increasing Cr content. The Mossbauer spectra consist of two sextets due to Fe$^{3+}$ions at A- and B sites for 0.0$\leq$x$\leq$0.6, while, a paramagnetic doublet appears for 0.8$\leq$x$\leq$1.0. The magnetic hyperfine field decreases with increasing Cr content. The relaxation spectra was shown at 0.8$\leq$x$\leq$1.0 in CoCr$_{x}$ Fe$_{2-x}$O$_4$. The coercivity decreases drastically, while, the saturation magnetization decreases linearly with increasing x.ing x.

Single-phase barium ferrite powder was synthesized using the sol-gel method. At this time, an attempt was made to find the optimal experimental conditions for the production of single-phase barium ferrite by varying the Fe to Ba molar ratio (Fe/Ba) and the heat treatment temperature. In addition, cobalt-substituted barium ferrite particles were prepared using cobalt, which has an excellent effect on coercivity control for the production of ferrite fine particles having a coercivity of 2.5 to 5.5 kOe for use in high-density magnetic recording media. The changes in the magnetic properties of these were investigated. X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric-differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA), and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) were used to observe the synthesis of single-phase, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry (EDS) were used to analyze the chemical structure and composition. The coercivity of the cobalt-substituted barium ferrite powder was measured by vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM). As a result, single-phase Barium ferrites were synthesized when the Fe/Ba molar ratio was 10, and the heat treatment temperature was 900 ℃. The coercivity decreased with increasing the amount of Co added. Barium ferrite, having a coercivity of 2.5 to 5.5 kOe for use in high-density magnetic recording media, was synthesized when the Co to Fe(Co/Fe) molar ratio was less than 0.16.

The temperature dependence of the effective magnetic anisotropy constant K(T) of ferrite nanoparticles is obtained based on the measurements of SQUID magnetometry. For this end, a very simple but intuitive and direct method for determining the temperature dependence of anisotropy constant K(T) in nanoparticles is introduced in this study. The anisotropy constant at a given temperature is determined by associating the particle size distribution f(r) with the anisotropy energy barrier distribution $f_A(T)$. In order to estimate the particle size distribution f(r), the first quadrant part of the hysteresis loop is fitted to the classical Langevin function weight-averaged with the log?normal distribution, slightly modified from the original Chantrell's distribution function. In order to get an anisotropy energy barrier distribution $f_A(T)$, the temperature dependence of magnetization decay $M_{TD}$ of the sample is measured. For this measurement, the sample is cooled from room temperature to 5 K in a magnetic field of 100 G. Then the applied field is turned off and the remanent magnetization is measured on stepwise increasing the temperature. And the energy barrier distribution $f_A(T)$ is obtained by differentiating the magnetization decay curve at any temperature. It decreases with increasing temperature and finally vanishes when all the particles in the sample are unblocked. As a next step, a relation between r and $T_B$ is determined from the particle size distribution f(r) and the anisotropy energy barrier distribution $f_A(T)$. Under the simple assumption that the superparamagnetic fraction of cumulative area in particle size distribution at a temperature is equal to the fraction of anisotropy energy barrier overcome at that temperature in the anisotropy energy barrier distribution, we can get a relation between r and $T_B$, from which the temperature dependence of the magnetic anisotropy constant was determined, as is represented in the inset of Fig. 1. Substituting the values of r and $T_B$ into the $N{\acute{e}}el$-Arrhenius equation with the attempt time fixed to $10^{-9}s$ and measuring time being 100 s which is suitable for conventional magnetic measurement, the anisotropy constant K(T) is estimated as a function of temperature (Fig. 1). As an example, the resultant effective magnetic anisotropy constant K(T) of manganese ferrite decreases with increasing temperature from $8.5{\times}10^4J/m^3$ at 5 K to $0.35{\times}10^4J/m^3$ at 125 K. The reported value for K in the literatures is $0.25{\times}10^4J/m^3$. The anisotropy constant at low temperature region is far more than one order of magnitude larger than that at 125 K, indicative of the effects of inter?particle interaction, which is more pronounced for smaller particles.

Oxygen-deficient anatase and rutile titanium dioxide $(TiO_{2-\delta})$ thin films were prepared by a sol-gel method and their structural, electronic, and magnetic properties were investigated. Both anatase and rutile $TiO_{2-\delta}:Fe$ Fe films exhibited ferromagnetism at room temperature for a limited range of Fe doping. For the same amount of Fe doping, the anatase sample exhibited a higher magnetic moment than the rutile one. Result of conversion electron Mossbauer spectroscopy measurements indicates that $Fe^{3+}$ ions substituting the octahedral $Ti^{4+}$ sites mainly contribute to the room-temperature ferromagnetism. Some of the anatase $TiO_{2-\delta}:Fe$ films exhibited p-type character but the observed feromagnetism turns out to be independent of the hole concentration. The room-temperature ferromagnetism can be explained in terms of a direct ferromagnetic coupling between two neighboring $Fe^{3+}$ ions via an electron trapped in oxygen vacancy in $TiO_{2-\delta}:Fe$.
Ultra-fine $Co_{1+x}$F $e_{2-}$2x/ $Ti_{x}$$O_4$ferrite powders have been prepared by the sol-gel method. The crystallographic and magnetic properties of the sample have been investigated by means of x-ray diffraction, Mossbauer spetroscopy and vibrating sample magnetometry. The formation of nano crystallized particles is confirmed. The x-ray diffractions of all samples with various compositions clearly indicate the presence of spinel structure. The Mossbauer spectra could be fitted as the superposition of two sextets due to F $e^{3+}$ A-site and B-site. The IS and QS values nearly constant with substituted Co-Ti contents, whereas $H_{hf}$ of B-site decreases with increasing Co-Ti substitution in $Co_{1+x}$F $e_{2-}$2x/ $Ti_{x}$$O_4$. The magnetic behaviour of powders shows that the saturation magnetization and the coercivity decrease with increasing x in $Co_{1+x}$F $e_{2-}$2x/ $Ti_{x}$$O_4$.$.X>.
