Calculation of Leakage Inductance of Integrated Magnetic Transformer with Separated Secondary Winding Used in ZVS PSFB Converter

  • A novel zero voltage switching (ZVS) phase shift full bridge (PSFB) converter used in geophysical exploration is proposed in this paper. To extend the ZVS ranges and increase power density of the converter, external inductor acting as leakage inductance is applied and integrated into the integrated magnetic (IM) transformer with separated secondary winding. Moreover, the loss of ZVS PSFB converter is also decreased. Besides, the analysis and accurate prediction methodology of the leakage inductance of the IM transformer are proposed, which are based on magnetic energy and Lebedev. Finally, to verify the accuracy of analysis and methodology, the experimental and finite element analysis (FEA) results of IM transformer and 40 kW converter prototypes are given.

자기테이프용 Metal Powder의 초음파 분산에 의한 자기적 특성 향상에 관한 연구 (Study on Magnetic Property Enhancement of Metal Powders for Magnetic Tape by Using Ultrasonic Dispersion)

  • It was investigated the effect of ultrasonic treatment on magnetic property of ultra fine magnetic Fe powders ($\alpha$-Fe) for magnetic tape. The properties were characterized with vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), particle size analyzer (PSA) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). At 4hours ultrasonic treatment of 70 kHz, magnetic properties such as squareness ratio (S.Q. : 0.8868), orientation ratio (O.R. : 2.45) and switching field distribution (S.F. D. : 0.394) before taping were relatively enhanced. Cumulative particle size distribution of less than 5$\mu\textrm{m}$ fine powder was above 90% below 1 hour leaving time after ultrasonic treatment and it was supposed that ultrasonic treatment prevent aggregation. The magnetic values of S.Q. and S.F.D. of tape manufactured at 70 kHz and 4hour ultrasonic treatment were improved from 0.7747, 0.3818 to 0.8037, 0.3706, respectively. Electro-magnetic property used as in-output signal characteristic was improved, which showed that ultrasonic treatment developed the magnetic properties.

  • Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) has been not commonly used because of the severe noise and vibration, although it has many advantages as solidity and economical efficiency. The origin of the acoustic noise and vibration in SRM's can be broadly classified into two types, mechanical and magnetic. Therefore this paper verifies the origin of vibration induced by radial magnetic forces from various experiments, and then studies the relationship between the output and vibration characteristics of SRM according to switch-on and off angles. Acceleration, torque and efficiency is measured by changing switching angles. From the comparison and analysis of the experimental results, a proper switching angle is presented for both satisfying electric performance and reducing vibration.

  • 본 논문에서는 캐스케이드 변압기를 이용하는 멀티레벨 인버터의 변압기 크기를 동일화시키기 위한 효과적인 스위칭 패턴을 제안한다. 제안된 스위칭 방식은 기존의 SHEPWM 스위칭 방식을 기초로 하여 각 변압기에 인가되는 최대 자속을 동일하게 함으로서 캐스케이드 변압기의 위치에 상관없이 동일한 설계가 가능하다. 따라서 동일한 풀-브리지 모듈의 이용이 가능하고, 모듈화 특성을 개선시키며, 제작의 용이성을 쾌할 수 있다. 제안된 스위칭 기법의 기본 아이디어를 이론적으로 분석하며, 타당성을 실험을 통하여 입증한다.

자성유체의 자기적 거동특성을 이용한 광 스위치에 관한 연구 (A study on the optical switch using magnetic behavior of magnetic fluids)

  • This paper presents the development of the optical switch using magnetic behavior of magnetic fluids, which is expected to be used broadly in high-speed information communication. The magnetic fluids for switching an incident light, have the magnetic characteristics of magnetic materials and fluidity of liquids, simultaneously. The relations are derived between the intensity of magnetic field and the angle of optical fiber which is bent by a behavior of magnetic fluid when the magnetic field is applied. When optical switch is implemented by the movement of liquid using magnetic fluid, the existing problem of durability for optical switch will be improved. Thus, this study shows the feasibility of the application for the optical switches using magnetic fluids.

Micromagnetic Simulations for Spin Transfer Torque in Magnetic Multilayers

  • We investigate spin transfer torque (STT) in magnetic multilayer structures using micromagnetic simulations. We implement the STT contribution for magnetic multilayer structures in addition to the Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert (LLG) micromagnetic simulators. In addition to the Sloncewski STT term, the zero, first, and second order field-like terms are also considered as well as the effects of the Oersted field due to the running current are addressed. We determine the switching current densities of the free layer with the exchange biased synthetic ferrimagnetic reference layers for various cases.

Variation of the Switching Field of Composite Nanowires with Different Widths

  • The switching field of a 300 nm wide nanowire has been controlled by attaching a wide wire to it. The width of the wide wires varies from 700 nm to 2000 nm. While the connection of the two wires does not affect the switching field of the wide wires, it strongly affects the 300 nm-wire, resulting in a decrease of the switching field of the isolated wire from 175 Oe to 54 Oe when the 2000 nm-wire is connected to it. This result clearly shows that the switching field of the nanowire can be engineered by attaching a nucleation pad that has a different magnetic anisotropy.

  • Studies on the controlled switching method have been done to prevent the power system surges which cause the insulation deterioration and electro magnetic compatibility (EMC) problems during closing and opening of a circuit breaker. The controlled switching method controls the closing and tripping time in coincidence with the voltage or current to suppress switching surge. It is used to switch condenser bank, no load transformer, and shunt reactor. In this study, basic concept of the controlled switching is introduced, and also the test is performed to find parameters of the controlled switching in a 24kV vacuum circuit. And then, the control device hardware using TMS320C31 DSP has been designed and manufactured. It has been found that the application of IT technology to a circuit breaker is very effective to depress the switching surge.
