  • In this paper, computer simulations of the physical Phenomena occurring in the arc region before and after current zero were carried out to evaluate the thermal recovery characteristics of a Laval nozzle. A commercial CFD program "PHOENICS" is used for the simulation and the user-coded subroutines to consider the arcing phenomena were added to this program by the authors. The computed results were verified by the comparison with the test results presented by the research group of GE Co.(General Electric Company). In order to investigate the state of the arc region after current zero, the simulation was carried out with three steps. They are steady state arc simulation, transient arc simulation before current zero, and transient hot-gas flow simulation after current zero. The semi-experimental arc radiation model is adapted to consider the radiation energy transport and Prandtl's mixing length model is employed as the turbulence model. The electric field and the magnetic field were calculated with the same grid structure used for the simulation of the flow field. The post-arc current was calculated to evaluate the thermal recovery characteristics after current zero. Compared with the results obtained by GE Co., it has been found that the critical RRRV(ratio of rise of recovery voltage) will be determined previously by this study.his study.

Correct Closure of the Left Atrial Appendage Reduces Stagnant Blood Flow and the Risk of Thrombus Formation: A Proof-of-Concept Experimental Study Using 4D Flow Magnetic Resonance Imaging

  • Objective: The study was conducted to investigate the effect of correct occlusion of the left atrial appendage (LAA) on intracardiac blood flow and thrombus formation in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) using four-dimensional (4D) flow magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and three-dimensional (3D)-printed phantoms. Materials and Methods: Three life-sized 3D-printed left atrium (LA) phantoms, including a pre-occlusion (i.e., before the occlusion procedure) model and correctly and incorrectly occluded post-procedural models, were constructed based on cardiac computed tomography images from an 86-year-old male with long-standing persistent AF. A custom-made closed-loop flow circuit was set up, and pulsatile simulated pulmonary venous flow was delivered by a pump. 4D flow MRI was performed using a 3T scanner, and the images were analyzed using MATLAB-based software (R2020b; Mathworks). Flow metrics associated with blood stasis and thrombogenicity, such as the volume of stasis defined by the velocity threshold ($\left|\vec{V}\right|$ < 3 cm/s), surface-and-time-averaged wall shear stress (WSS), and endothelial cell activation potential (ECAP), were analyzed and compared among the three LA phantom models. Results: Different spatial distributions, orientations, and magnitudes of LA flow were directly visualized within the three LA phantoms using 4D flow MRI. The time-averaged volume and its ratio to the corresponding entire volume of LA flow stasis were consistently reduced in the correctly occluded model (70.82 mL and 39.0%, respectively), followed by the incorrectly occluded (73.17 mL and 39.0%, respectively) and pre-occlusion (79.11 mL and 39.7%, respectively) models. The surfaceand-time-averaged WSS and ECAP were also lowest in the correctly occluded model (0.048 Pa and 4.004 Pa-1, respectively), followed by the incorrectly occluded (0.059 Pa and 4.792 Pa-1, respectively) and pre-occlusion (0.072 Pa and 5.861 Pa-1, respectively) models. Conclusion: These findings suggest that a correctly occluded LAA leads to the greatest reduction in LA flow stasis and thrombogenicity, presenting a tentative procedural goal to maximize clinical benefits in patients with AF.

A 3-D Steady-State Analysis of Thermal Behavior in EHV GIS Busbar

  • Busbar has been used as electric conductor within extra high voltage (EHV) gas insulated switchgear (GIS), which makes EHV GIS higher security, smaller size and lower cost. However, the main fault of GIS is overheating of busbar connection parts, circuit breaker and isolating switch contact parts, which has been already restricting development of GIS to a large extent. In this study, a coupled magneto-flow-thermal analysis is used to investigate the thermal properties of GIS busbar in steady-state. A three-dimensional (3-D) finite element model (FEM) is built to calculate multiphysics fields including electromagnetic field, flow field and thermal field in steady-state. The influences of current on the magnetic flux density, flow velocity and heat distribution has been investigated. Temperature differences of inner wall and outer wall are investigated for busbar tank and conducting rod. Considering the end effect in the busbar, temperature rise difference is compared between end sections and the middle section. In order to obtain better heat dissipation effect, diameters of conductor and tank are optimized based on temperature rise simulation results. Temperature rise tests have been done to validate the 3-D simulation model, which is observed a good correlation with the simulation results. This study provides technical support for optimized structure of the EHV GIS busbar.

  • 고속철도 차륜의 미소결함을 고속 고공간 분해 능으로 측정할 수 있는 새로운 비파괴검사법이 요구되고 있다. 본 연구는 종래의 스캔형 자기카메라를 개선하여, 다중증폭회로와 결함표시를 위한 펄스 발생기를 장착한 신호처리회로를 제안한다. 홀센서를 선형으로 배열하고, 배열의 직각방향으로 차륜이 정속으로 회전하게 하면, 차륜의 답면을 검사할 수 있다. 각각의 홀전압을 증폭하고, AD변환기를 통하여 $\mu$-processor에 의하여 시간에 따른 전압차, 즉 ${\partial}V_H/{\partial}t$를 연산한다. ${\partial}V_H/{\partial}t$가 결함의 존재를 의미하는 비교치보다 클 때 pulse 신호가 발생하여 결함을 지시한다. 휠 시험편을 이용하여 제안된 방법을 검증하였다.

무선주파수 간섭 측정용 차폐된 Printed Spiral Coil(PSC) 프로브의 대역폭 개선 설계 (Bandwidth-Improved Design of Shielded Printed Spiral Coil Probes for Radio-Frequency Interference Measurement)

  • 본 논문에서는 기존 단품 Printed Spiral Coil(PSC)의 외부 노이즈 결합의 저감을 위한 차폐 구조와 차폐된 PSC의 대역폭 개선을 위한 설계법이 제안되었다. 차폐 구조가 적용될 경우, PSC와 차폐 구조 사이의 기생 커패시턴스에 의한 공진현상으로 인해 단품 PSC 대비 전달함수 대역폭에 한계를 가지게 되며, Radio-Frequency Interference(RFI) 노이즈 원으로 가정된 $50{\Omega}$ 마이크로스트립 라인과의 전달함수 시뮬레이션을 통해 이를 확인하였다. 차폐된 PSC의 등가회로 모델을 통해 대역폭을 개선할 수 있는 방안을 제시하고, 3D field simulation을 이용한 사례 연구를 통해 방안의 타당성을 검증하였다. 제시된 방안을 기반으로 차폐 구조가 적용된 PSC 설계의 최적화를 수행하였으며, 측정 검증을 통해 전달함수가 보존되는 범위 내에서 전달함수의 대역폭이 개선됨을 확인하였다.

Analysis of a Harmonics Neutralized 48-Pulse STATCOM with GTO Based Voltage Source Converters

  • Multi-pulse topology of converters using elementary six-pulse GTO - VSC (gate turn off based voltage source converter) operated under fundamental frequency switching (FFS) control is widely adopted in high power rating static synchronous compensators (STATCOM). Practically, a 48-pulse ($6{\times}8$ pulse) configuration is used with the phase angle control algorithm employing proportional and integral (PI) control methodology. These kinds of controllers, for example the ${\pm}80MVAR$ compensator at Inuyama switching station, KEPCO, Japan, employs two stages of magnetics viz. intermediate transformers (as many as VSCs) and a main coupling transformer to minimize harmonics distortion in the line and to achieve a desired operational efficiency. The magnetic circuit needs altogether nine transformers of which eight are phase shifting transformers (PST) used in the intermediate stage, each rating equal to or more than one eighth of the compensator rating, and the other one is the main coupling transformer having a power rating equal to that of the compensator. In this paper, a two-level 48-pulse ${\pm}100MVAR$ STATCOM is proposed where eight, six-pulse GTO-VSC are employed and magnetics is simplified to single-stage using four transformers of which three are PSTs and the other is a normal transformer. Thus, it reduces the magnetics to half of the value needed in the commercially available compensator. By adopting the simple PI-controllers, the model is simulated in a MATLAB environment by SimPowerSystems toolbox for voltage regulation in the transmission system. The simulation results show that the THD levels in line voltage and current are well below the limiting values specified in the IEEE Std 519-1992 for harmonic control in electrical power systems. The controller performance is observed reasonably well during capacitive and inductive modes of operation.

  • 본 논문에서는 IGBT PWM 인버터 구동 유도전동기 고정자 권선에서의 스위칭 써지전압 분포특성을 분석하였다. 고정자 권선의 턴 및 코일간의 전압분포를 해석하기 위하여 케이블을 포함한 유도전동기의 등가모델을 제안하고, 유한요소법을 이용하여 고주파 파라메타를 산출하였다 또한, 유도전동기, IGBT PWM 인버터 및 케이블등에 대한 전체 시스템의 EMTP 시뮬레이션을 통하여 인버터 상승시간, 케이블 길이 및 스위칭 주파수 등의 영향에 따른 전압분포를 분석하였다. 380[V], 50[HP] 유도전동기 고정자 권선을 대상으로 한 전압분포 특성실험을 통하여 인버터용 전동기 설치 및 과전압 억제용 필터 설계시의 유용한 자료를 제시하였다.

콘크리트 슬래브궤도에서 레일과 철근 사이의 결합계수에 대한 연구 (A Study on Coupling Coefficient Between Rail and Reinforcing Bars in Concrete Slab Track)

  • The system of the railway signaling using the track transmits the approved speed to the location of a train and it. Referring to the way of transmitting train control information, there are the one transmitting it to the on-board system of a train using the direct track, the another transmitting it establishing an instrument, and the other transmitting an instrument by a railway track. The one is the method using the direct track as a conductor for composing the part of the track and attaining the information controlling a train by transmitting a signal to the track. It is used for the high-speed railway and the subway. The method using the track attains information by transmitting it to returned information, and the on-board system of a train attains it by magnetic coupling. Because many reinforcing bars on the concrete slab track are used, interaction between a rail and a reinforcing bar that is not produced on ballast track is made. Due to the interaction, the electric characteristic of rail is changed. In the current paper, we numerically computed the coupling coefficient between the rail and the reinforcing bar based on the concrete slab track throughout the model related to the rail and the reinforcing bar using the concrete slab track that is used in the second interval of the Gyeongbu high-speed railway, and we defined the coupling coefficient not changed in the electric characteristic of rail in the condition that there is no interaction between the rail and the reinforcing bar.

수동루프에 의한 송전선로 상불평형 발생에 관한 연구 (A Study on Three-phase Imbalance of a Power Transmission Line due to Installation of a Passive Loop Conductor)

  • 가공송전선로주변 자계저감 기법 중에서 수동루프 방식은 기존 송전철탑에 적은 비용으로 용이하게 적용되어 만족할 만한 저감효과를 제공할 수 있지만 수동루프에 유도되는 전류에 의해 송전손실이 증가될 뿐 아니라 송전선로의 기하학적 비대칭성이 증가됨으로써 상불평형이 증가하게된다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 수동루프 설치에 따른 송전손실과 송전선로 수전단에서의 상불평형을 모의하고자한다. 345[kV]급 수평 상배치 1회선 가공송전선로를 선정하여 수동루프를 송전선로의 선로정수에 포함시킨 비대칭 3상 분포정수 모델로 표현하였으며 이것에 대한 미분방정식을 정의하고 해를 구함으로써 수전단 3상의 전압과 전류를 계산했다. 그 결과로부터 각 상에 따라 전력손실이 다르게 발생하며 수전단에서 정상분이 감소하는 대신에 역상분이 증가함을 확인하였다. 일반적으로 수동루프에 의한 상불평형이 차지하는 비중이 크지는 않지만 수동루프 설치구간과 유도전류의 크기 등에 비례하여 증가하므로 수동루프 도입에 따른 소요비용을 산출하는 과정에서 그에 따른 영향을 포함시켜야 할 것으로 판단된다.

콘크리트 슬래브궤도에서 레일과 철근 사이의 결합계수에 대한 연구 (A Study on Coupling Coefficient Between Rail and Reinforcing Bars in Concrete Slab Track)

  • 고속철도 신호시스템은 ATC시스템을 이용하여 열차의 제한속도를 송신하고, 일부 도시철도 신호시스템은 이동가능거리를 전송한다. 열차제어정보전송은 직접 궤도를 이용하여 차상에 전송하는 방식, 궤도상에 기기를 설치하여 전송하는 방식, 선로변에 기기를 전송하는 방식이 있다. 직접궤도를 도체로 활용하여 궤도를 회로일부로 구성하고, 궤도에 신호를 전송하여 열차가 궤도에서 열차제어 정보를 획득하는 방법으로, 궤도회로를 사용하며, 고속철도, 지하철에서 사용하고 있다. 궤도회로를 사용하는 방식은 반송신호에 정보를 실어서 보내며, 차상장치는 자기결합에 의해서 정보를 획득한다. 콘크리트 슬래브궤도에는 많은 철근을 사용하기 때문에 자갈도상의 궤도에서는 발생되지 않았던 레일과 철근간의 상호작용이 발생한다. 레일과 철근간의 상호작용이 발생하여 레일의 전기적 특성이 변화된다. 본 논문에서는 경부고속철도 2단계 구간에서 사용되는 콘크리트 슬래브궤도에서 레일과 철근 사이의 모델을 이용하여 콘크리트 슬래브궤도의 모델로부터 레일과 철근 사이의 결합계수를 수리적으로 해석하고, 레일과 철근간의 상호작용이 일어나지 않는 경우, 즉 철근에 의한 레일의 전기적 특성의 변화가 없는 결합계수를 정의하였다.
