Theoretical Consideration of Nondestructive Testing by use of Vertical Magnetization and Magneto-Optical Sensor

  • This paper describes a new magnetization method for non-destructive testing with magneto-optical sensor (denoted as MO sensor) which have the following characteristic : high observation sensitivity, independence of the crack orientation, and precise imaging of a complex crack geometry such as multiple cracks. When a magnetic field is applied normally to the surface of a specimen which is significantly larger than its defects, approximately the same magnetic charge per unit area occurs on the surface of the specimen. If there is a crack in the specimen, magnetic charge per unit area has the same value at the bottom of the crack. The distribution of the vertical component of the magnetic flux density, B$\_$Z/, is almost uniform over the no-crack area (denoted as B$\_$Z,BASE/), while the magnetic flux density is smaller in the surroundings of the crack(denoted as B$\_$Z,CRACK/) If B$\_$Z, BASE/ is a bit larger than the saturated magnetic flux density of the MO sensor (B$\_$s/) , then small magnetic domains occur over the crack area and a large domain over the non-crack area because B$\_$Z,CRACK/ is smaller than B$\_$s/.

Development of Moving Alternating Magnetic Filter Using Permanent Magnet for Removal of Radioactive Corrosion Product from Nuclear Power Plant

  • Radioactive Corrosion Products (CRUD) which are generated by the neutron activation of general corrosion products at the nuclear power plant are the major source of occupational radiation exposure. Most of the CRUD has a characteristic of showing strong ferrimagnetisms. Along with the new development and production of permanent magnet (rare earth magnet) which generates much stronger magnetic field than the conventional magnet, new type of magnetic filter that can separate CRUD efficiently and eventually reduce radiation exposure of personnel at nuclear power plant is suggested. This separator consists of inner and outer magnet assemblies, coolant channel and container surrounding the outer magnet assembly. The rotational motion of the inner and outer permanent magnet assemblies surrounding the coolant channel by driving motor system produces moving alternating magnetic fields in the coolant channel. The CRUD can be separated from the coolant by the moving alternating magnetic field. This study describes the results of preliminary experiment performed with the different flow rates of coolant and rotation velocities of magnet assemblies. This new magnetic filter shows better performance results of filtering the magnetite at coolant (water). How rates, rotating velocities of magnet assemblies and particle sizes turn out to be very important design parameters.

반원관내 자성유체의 유동에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Flow Behavior of Magnetic Fluids in a Closed-semicircular Pipe)

  • 본 연구에서는 밀폐된 반원관내 자성유체의 자연대류 현상을 수치적으로 연구하였다. 수치해석방법은 Siliomis의 GSMAC법을 이용하였다. 자성유체의 자연대류 현상을 수치 해석적으로 규명하여, 자성유체의 열역학적 특성을 연구하고자 하였다. 특히 열전달 해석방법으로 온도분포 및 고온벽면의 Nusselt 수를 통하여 속도 벡터와 함께 고찰 하였다. 이로 인하여, 외부 자장에 의한 세기는 자연대류 현상을 촉진 또는 억제하므로, 열전달 문제에 있어서 열의 제거에 있어서 효과적인 방법을 찾게 되었다.

  • This study investigates magnetic circuit design of the Single-phase Line-start Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (LSPM) to develop the characteristics in steady state. In this paper, the saliency ratio, that is the ratio of q-axial inductance to d-axial inductance, and the inductance difference between q-axial inductance and d-axial inductance are increased. Design factor is selected permanent magnet position and rotor diameter. The analysis method of the synchronous motor on d-/q- axis coordinates is used for the positive component and the equivalent circuit of the induction motor is applied for the negative component analysis. Back-emf and d-q- axial inductance is analyzed by using 2 dimensional Finite Element Method (FEM). Characteristic analysis results with variation of design factor are reflected magnetic circuit design of LSPM. The characteristics of design model are compared with the characteristic of initial model.

  • $1{\times}10^{-6}$Torr의 진공에서 열저항 가열식 진공증착 방법으로 제작한 $Permalloy/Al_{2}O_{3}/Co$ 강자성 터널집합의 자기저항 효과를 조사하였다. 이 논문에서는 제작한 강자성 터널접합 시료의 전류-전압 특성과 자기 valve 효과를 측정하고, 시료진동형자기계로 측 정한 자기이력곡선을 통하여 터널저항의 히스테리시스성 자장 의존성을 조사하였다. 터널링은 전류-전압 특성을 측정함으로써 확인 되어진다. 자기저항의 히스테리시스 곡선은 자화의 히스테 리시스 곡선과 잘 대응한다. 측정한 자기저항비 ${\Delta}R/R$은 실온에서 약 0.6% 였다.

일체형 고조파 조절기를 갖는 마그네트 기어 감속기의 특성 연구 (Characteristic Study of a Magnet Gear Speed Reducer with a Unified Harmonic Modulator)

  • Using a magnetic gear, the speed and torque of the driving axis can be decreased and increased, respectively, similar to a mechanical speed reducer. In particular, because the driving side can be isolated mechanically from the load side, the magnetic gear was developed for application with environmental constraints. Of the existing topologies used for the magnet gear, the filtering method of a specified magnetic component is the most competitive. In this paper, a novel unified harmonic modulator is applied to filter the specified component. The torque conversion method using this modulator is described in detail, and the key factors of the modulator are derived from the influence on the resulting torque. The experimental setup was constructed and its torque transmission efficiency measured for varying loads. The transient characteristic from an excessive load is compared with the theoretical simulation.

자기부상열차 급전변전소의 모델링 (Modeling for Power Supply Substation in Maglev Train System)

  • 자기부상열차의 급전변전소는 공급되는 전력의 주파수 변화에 필요한 인버터를 포함하고 있어, 다른 철도 급전 시스템과는 차별되는 특성을 가지고 있으며, 이에 대한 급전시스템을 구성하고 있는 설비의 정격과 기본적인 모델을 구축하는 연구가 진행 중에 있다. 본 논문에서는 독일의 TR-07 급전 시스템과 중국 상하이 자기부상열차의 인버터 모델을 참고하여, 3레벨 인버터를 이용한 자기부상열차의 급전변전소를 모델링하고 과도현상 분석에 많이 이용되고 있는 프로그램인 PSCAD/EMTDC를 이용하여 그 출력 특성을 살펴보았다. 또한 자기부상열차 시스템 부하에 공급하려는 출력을 위한 인버터 제어 방법을 기술하고, 인버터의 기준파 주파수와 진폭 변조비를 변화시킴에 따라 그 출력이 어떻게 변화하는지 나타내었다.

Fundamental characteristic analysis on 6 T-class high-temperature superconducting no-insulation magnet using turn-distributed equivalent circuit model

  • In order to obtain ultra-high resolution MRI images, research and development of 11 T or higher superconducting magnets have been actively conducted in the world, recently. The high-temperature superconductor (HTS), first discovered in 1986, was very limited in industrial application until mid-2010, despite its high critical current characteristics in the high magnetic field compared to the low-temperature superconductor. This is because HTS magnets were unable to operate stably due to the thermal damage when a quench occurred. With the introduction of no-insulation (NI) HTS magnet winding technology that does not burn electrically, it could be expected that the HTS magnets are dramatically reduced in weight, volume, and cost. In this paper, a 6 T-class NI HTS magnet for basic characteristic analysis was designed, and a distributed equivalent circuit model of the NI coils was configured to analyze the charging current characteristics caused by excitation current, and the charge delay phenomenon and loss were predicted through the development of a simulation model. Additionally, the critical current of the NI HTS magnets was estimated, considering the magnetic field, its angle and temperature with a given current. The loss due to charging delay characteristics was analyzed and the result was shown. It is meaningful to obtain detailed operation technology to secure a stable operation protocol for a 6T NI HTS magnet which is actually manufactured.

이중원관내 자성유체의 자연대류에 대한 전열특성 (Characteristics of Heat Transfer of Natural Convection for Magnetic Fluids in Annular Pipes)

  • 자성유체는 고액혼상유체로 뉴턴유체와 달리 자기력에 반응하는 유체이다. 본 연구에서는 금속과 유체의 특성을 겸비한 자성유체의 열전달 특성을 밀도 있게 연구함을 목적으로, 그 대상을 이중원관으로 하여 열대류현상을 고찰하기 위해 내부원관을 가열하고, 외부원관을 냉각하면서, 또한 외부에서 인가자장의 세기와 방향에 따라 자연대류 현상의 변화 및 열전달 특성을 수치해석적으로 연구하여, 실험결과와 비교 검토하였다. 자성유체의 자연대류현상은 인가자장에 따라 제어할 수 있었고, 평균 뉴셀트수를 구한 결과로서 자장을 가하지 않았을 경우와 비교해 보면 열전달은 자장을 중력방향으로 가하거나 중력과 반대방향으로 그세기를 -14 mT이상 가했을 때 증가하였고, 중력과 반대방향으로 감했을 때 감소하였다. 특히 자장의 세기가 -14 mT가 되면 열전달은 최소가 되었다.

  • This paper presents a detailed characteristic of reluctance synchronous motor (RSM) which has a axially laminated anisotropic (ALA) structure of the rotor. First of all, the analysis of a magnetic circuit field between stator and rotor should be achieved in order to predict the performance characteristics of the RSM. For the analysis of a magnetic circuit field, the finite element (FE) analysis is used. The analytical result of the inductance, flux distribution, vector potential and simulation results shows along with the load condition.
