도자기 소지구성 산화철, 산화마그네슘이 유약과의 반응 (Reaction Iron Oxide and Magnesium Oxide in Ceramics Body with Glaze)

  • This is the study on diffusion of ceramic body oxide compounds to glaze. For ceramic bodies, no ferrous oxides contain white ware, celadon, and 3 wt% iron oxides contained white ware was used in this experiment. These ceramic bodies were glazed by transparency glaze, iron oxides contained glaze, and glaze made by pine tree ash that treated in 1240 degree, under reduction condition for an hour. An electron probe microanalyzer(EPMA) was used to study diffusion of oxides and to calculate distance of ceramics bodies. As a result, only iron oxide and magnesium oxide from the body diffused to glaze, and also made a band which shown very thin layer of iron oxide and magnesium oxide between the body and glaze. The densest band of iron oxide formed 100 to $150{\mu}m$ in the glaze, and the densest band of magnesium oxide was found 50 to $100{\mu}m$ in the glaze. Therefore, it could be concluded that iron oxide in the body is diffused to the glaze and it affects the color of glaze, even though iron oxide exists in the glaze. Furthermore, the thickness of the glaze has an effect on the color of celadon.

열처리조건에 따른 AZ61 마그네슘 합금의 미세조직과 감쇠능에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Annealing Conditions on Microstructure and Damping Capacity in AZ61 Magnesium Alloy)

  • Many researchers have studied on the precipitation control after solution treatment to improve the damping capacity without decreasing the strength. However, studies on the damping capacity and microstructure changes after deformation in the solid solution strengthening alloys were inadequate, such as the Al-Zn series magnesium alloys. Therefore, in order to investigate the effect of annealing condition on microstructure change and damping a capacity of AZ61 magnesium alloy. In this study, it was confirmed that the microstructure changes affect the damping capacity and hardness when annealed AZ61 alloy. AZ61 magnesium alloy was rolled at $400^{\circ}C$ with rolling reduction of 30%. These specimens were annealed at $350^{\circ}C$ to $450^{\circ}C$ for 30-180 minutes. After annealing, microstructure was observed by using optical microscopy, and damping capacity was measured by using internal friction measurement machine. Hardness was measured by Vickers hardness tester under a condition of 0.3 N. In this study, static recrystallization was observed regardless of the annealing conditions. In addition, uniform equiaxed grain structure was developed by annealing treatment. Hardness is decreased with increasing grain size. This is associated with Hall-Petch equation and static recrystallization. In case of damping capacity, bigger grain size show the larger damping capacity.

AZ31 마그네슘 합금의 어닐링 이후 내부마찰 거동 (Internal Friction Behavior in AZ31 Magnesium Alloy after Annealing Treatment)

  • Specimens were machined out from hot-rolled AZ31 magnesium alloy, and deformed at 623K with rolling reduction of 30%. After hot rolling, specimens were annealed at various range of temperature and time. In this study, static recrystallization was occurred during heat treatment, however, variation of main component and intensity of texture was not revealed. The results of microstructure observation, damping capacity test and dislocation mechanism indicated that increasing of damping capacity was caused by grain growth. It means that grain size is effective factor to damping capacity.

진공 다이캐스팅 공정을 이용한 마그네슘 합금 시트프레임의 개발 (Development of Magnesium Seat Frames using the Vacuum Die Casting Process)

  • The vacuum die casting techniques can diminish the porosity of products and provide better surface appearance by the ordinary high pressure die casting process. The vacuum system can also reduce the cold laps in the die casting process and minimize the overflow pockets of the die. The vacuum system does not need high pressures to die cast compared to the ordinary die casting process, and so enables die casting of large parts for a given machine size. Parts made by the vacuum system have higher strength and more elongation than parts made by the ordinary die casting systems. In this paper, we designed and produced the Magnesium seat frames using the vacuum die casting processes. The new Magnesium seat frame was designed to satisfy safety regulations. Some safety test procedures of the seat frame were simulated by the finite element method. We obtained 10% weight reduction by design modification of seat frames compared to the current model. Flow simulations were carried out to minimize the trial and error in producing the parts. The die casted parts using vacuum systems resulted in better mechanical characteristics and no defects compared to those without vacuum systems.

마그네슘용탕의 니켈 함량에 미치는 알루미늄, 망간 및 지르코늄의 영향 (Effect of Aluminum, Manganese, and Zirconium on the Content of Nickel in Molten Magnesium)

  • Variations of nickel contents and microstructures in molten magnesium alloys on the addition of aluminum, zirconium, and manganese have been investigated. Specimens were prepared by melting under $SF_6$ and $CO_2$ atmosphere and casting into a disc of 29 mm diameter with 7~10 mm thickness from the melt acquired at the top of crucible. Before casting, the molten metal was stirred for 3 minutes after each addition of alloying elements and maintained for 30 minutes for settling down. Results showed that zirconium did not significantly affect the content of nickel while aluminum remarkably reduced it by forming $Al_3Ni_2$ phase. When manganese are added to Mg-1wt%Ni alloy along with aluminum, both elements remarkably reduced the content of nickel. The addition of 1.5 wt% manganese to Mg-1wt%Ni alloy containing aluminum further reduced the content of nickel by more than 30%, during which an additional intermetallic phase $Al_{10}Mn_3Ni$ was precipitated in the molten magnesium.

  • The specific strength of magnesium alloy is four times that of iron and 1.5 times that of aluminum. For this reason, its use is increasing in the transportation industry which is promoting weight reduction. At room temperature, magnesium alloy has low formability due to Hexagonal closed packed (HCP) structure with relatively little slip plane. However, as the molding temperature increases, the formability of the magnesium alloy is greatly improved due to the activation of other additional slip systems, and the flow stress and elongation vary greatly depending on the temperature. In addition, magnesium alloys exhibit asymmetrical behavior, which is different from tensile and compression behavior. In this study, a jig was developed that can measure the plane deformation behavior on the surface of a material in tensile and compression tests of magnesium alloys in warm temperature. A jig was designed to prevent buckling occurring in the compression test by applying a certain pressure to apply it to the tensile and compression tests. And the tensile and compressive behavior of magnesium at each temperature was investigated with the developed jig and DIC equipment. In each experiment, the strain rate condition was set to a quasi-static strain rate of 0.01/s. The transformation temperature is room temperature, 100℃. 150℃, 200℃, 250℃. As a result of the experiment, the flow stress tended to decrease as the temperature increased. The maximum stress decreased by 60% at 250 degrees compared to room temperature. Particularly, work softening occurred above 150 degrees, which is the recrystallization temperature of the magnesium alloy. The elongation also tended to increase as the deformation temperature increased and increased by 60% at 250 degrees compared to room temperature. In the compression experiment, it was confirmed that the maximum stress decreased as the temperature increased.

마그네슘의 금속염 환원에 의한 초미립 탄화티탄 분말 합성거동 (Synthesis and kinetic of ultrafine titanium carbide particles by Mg-thermal reduction of liquid metal chlorides)

  • Ultrafine titanium carbide particles were synthesized by the reaction of liquid-magnesium and vaporized TiCl$_{4}$+C$_{x}$Cl$_{4}$(x = 1 and 2) solution. Fine titanium carbide particles with about 50 nm were successfully produced by combining Ti and C atoms released by chloride reduction of magnesium, and vacuum was then used to remove the residual phases of MgCl$_{2}$ and excess Mg. Small amounts of impurities such as O, Fe, Mg and Cl were detected in the product, but such problem can be solved by more precise process control. The lattice parameter of the product was 0.43267 nm, near the standard value. With respect to the reaction kinetics, the activation energy for the reactions of TiCl$_{4}$+C$_{2}$Cl$_{4}$and Mg was found to 69 kJ/mole, which was about half value against the use of TiCl$_{4}$+CCl$_{4}$, and such higher reactivity of the former contributed to increase the stoichiometry until the level of TiC$_{0.96}$ and decrease the free carbon content below 0.3 wt.%.

난연성 AZ31-xCa 마그네슘합금의 열간압연 특성 (Hot Rolling Properties of Non-combustible AZ31-xCa Magnesium Alloys)

  • In this study, the effects of Ca content and processing variables on hot rolling properties of gravity cast AZ31-xCa alloys were evaluated systematically. The number and length of side crack were decreased with increasing preheating temperature and decreasing reduction ratio per pass and Ca content. The UTS and YS were not strongly dependent on the Ca content but the elongation decreased with increasing Ca content. The decrease of elongation in Ca containing alloys was least when the sheets were fabricated under preheating temperature of $400^{\circ}C$ and reduction ratio per pass of $15\%$. The sheets had the sound external features with little side cracks by homogenization of gravity cast AZ31-xCa alloys before hot rolling. In the cases of AZ31-xCa alloys containing under $1wt.\%$ Ca, the annealed sheets after homogenization and hot rolling had the similar tensile properties to those of AZ31 sheet.

마그네슘 합금제 휠 제조에 관한 연구 (A Study of Manufacturing AZ91D Mg Alley Wheel)

  • 마그네슘은 20여년간 자동차 산업에서 휠소재로 사용되어 왔다. 마그네슘 휠은 무게가 알루미늄 휠보다 25% 가벼워서 주행성이 우수하다. 이 연구의 목적은 사형주조 및 영구금형주조 공정에 의한 AZ91D 합금제 췰을 개발하는 것이다 보호개스$(SF_6+CO_2)$를 사용하는 비플럭스 용해기술을 적용하여 용탕의 산화와 불순물의 유입을 배제하였다 마그네슘 용탕은 가압식 펌프시스템을 사용하여 가열된 파이프를 통하여 모울드에 자동으로 공급된다. 열처리 및 인고트의 조성에 따른 AZ91B 합금제 휠의 기계적 특성을 조사하였다.
