Ampliciline was synthesized from 6-amino-pencillanic acid (6-APA) and D-.alpha. phenylglycine methyl ester by using amplicilin synthesizing enzyme from Peudomonas melanogenum (IAM 1655). The whole cell enzyme was immobilized by entrapping it in the polyacrylamide gel lattices. The polymer used in the enzyme entrapment was made from 150 mg per ml of acrylamide monomer and 8 mg per ml of N, N'-methylenebisacrylamide. About 200 mg/whole cell enzyme was mixed in the polymer for entrapment. The maximal activity retention after immobilization was 56%. The optimal pH values for the whole cell enzyme and the immobilized whole cell enzyme were 6.0 and 5.9, respectively. The optimal temperature for the enzyme activity were the same for both type of preparations. The enzyme stabilities against pH and heat increased for immobilized whole cell enzyme. Immobilized cell was more stable especially in the acidic condition while both type were found to be very suceptible to thermal inactivation at a temperature above 4.deg.C. The kinetic constants obtained from Lineweaver-Burk plot based on two substate reaction mechanism showed somewhat higher value for immobilized whole cell enzyme as compared to the whole cell enzyme : the Km value for 6-APA were 7.0 mM and 12.5 mM while Km values for phenylglycine methyl ester were 4.5 mM and 8.2 mM, respectively. Using the immobilized whole cell enzyme packed in a column reactor, the productivity of ampiciline was studied by varying the flow rate of substrate solution. At the space velocity, SV, 0.14 hr$^{-1}$ the conversion was 45%. Operational stability found in terms of half life was 30 hr at SV = 0.2 hr.
A comprehensive study was conducted using PPSMV resistant (BSMR 736) and susceptible (ICP 8863) genotypes to develop a segregating population and understand the inheritance of PPSMV resistance. The observed segregation was comparable to 13 (susceptible): 3 (resistant). Hence, the inheritance was controlled by two genes, SV1 and SV2, with inhibitory gene interaction.

A two-dimensional boundary element method was used for the scattering analysis of side-drilled hole(SDH). The far-field scattering amplitude was calculated for shear vertical(SV) wave, and their frequency and time-domain results were presented. The time-domain scattering amplitude showed the directly reflected wave from the SDH leading edge as well as the creeping wave. In an immersion, pulse-echo testing, two measurement models were introduced to predict the response from SDHs. The 2-D boundary element scattering amplitude was converted to the 3-D amplitude to be used in the measurement model. The receiver voltage was calculated fer SV wave incidence at 45$^{\circ}C$ on the 1 m diameter SDH, and the result was compared with experiment.

To reach 100 Gbit/in$^2$ magnetic recording densities in hard disk drives specular enhancement of giant magnetoresistance (GMR) effect in spin valve (SV) films has become one of the indispensable means for application as read elements in recording heads [1]. More recently specular spin valve (SSV) structure containing nano-oxides layers (NOL) were reported [2], where MR enhancement is caused to extended mean free path of majority spin polarized electrons through specular reflection at metal/insulator interfaces [3] in the SV films. The combined bottom trawl and hydroacoustic survey was conducted by using the training ship Oshoro Maru belong to Hokkaido University in November 1989-1992 and the training ship Nagasaki Maru belong to Nagasaki University in April 1994 in the East China Sea, respectively. The aim of the investigations was to collect the target strength data of fish school in relation to the biomass estimation of fish in the survey area. The hydroacoustic survey was performed by using the scientific echo sounder system operating at three frequencies of 25, 50 and 100kHz with a microcomputer-based echo integrator. Fish samples were collected by bottom trawling and during the trawl surveys, the openings of otter board and net mouth were measured. The target strength of fish school was estimated from the relationship between the volume back scattering strength for the depth strata of bottom trawling and the weight per unit volume of trawl catches. A portion of the trawl catches preserved in frozon condition on board, the target strength measurements for the defrosted samples of ten species were conducted in the laboratory tank, and the relationship between target strength and fish weight was examined. In order to investigate the effect of swimbladder on target strength, the volume of the swimbladder of white croaker, Argyrosomus argentatus, sampled by bottom trawling was measured by directly removing the gas in the swimbladder with a syringe on board. The results obtained can be summarized as follows: 1.The relationship between the mean volume back scattering strength (, dB) for the depth strata of trawl hauls and the weight(C, $kg/\textrm{m}^3$) per unit volume of trawl catches were expressed by the following equations : 25kHz : = - 29.8+10Log(C) 50kHz : = - 32.4+10Log(C) 100kHz : = - 31.7+10Log(C) The mean target strength estimates for three frequencies of 25, 50 and 100 kHz derived from these equations were -29.8dB/kg, -32.4dB/kg and -31.7dB/kg, respectively. 2. The relationship between target strength and body weight for the fish samples of ten species collected by trawl surveys were expressed by the following equations : 25kHz : TS = - 34.0+10Log($W^{\frac{2}{3}}$) 100kHz : TS = - 37.8+10Log($W^{\frac{2}{3}}$) The mean target strength estimates for two frequencies of 25 and 100 kHz derived from these equations were -34.0dB/kg, -37.8dB/kg, respectively. 3. The representative target strength values for demersal fish populations of the East China Sea at two frequencies of 25 and 100 kHz were estimated to be -31.4dB/kg, -33.8dB/kg, respectively. 4. The ratio of the equivalent radius of swimbladder to body length of white croaker was 0.089 and the volume of swimbladder was estimated to be approximately 10% of total body volume.
Several domestic new varieties of grapes were utilized for the fermentation of wines, including Cabernet Sauvignon, NY 21576, Canner, SV 18315, Agawan, and Black Bagal red wines, and Naples, Aligote, and Alicante white wines. The oBx values of the grapes ranged between 17 and $20^{\circ}Bx$. Soluble solid content was adjusted to $21^{\circ}Bx$ by adding sugar for all grapes and fermented at $20^{\circ}C$ for 2 weeks. Black Bagal and Cabernet Sauvignon were relatively slower than other grapes with regard to alcohol production rate. The L value of wine made from Agawan and NY 21576 were lower and darker than those of wines prepared from other grapes. Wine made from NY 21576 grapes had a polyphenol concentration of 1.40 mg/mL, which was higher than that of any other wine, whereas wines made from MBA and all white wines evidenced value of only 0.55 mg/mL and 0.15 mg/mL, respectively, after 2 weeks of fermentation. The sensory evaluations demonstrated that the quality of red wines made from NY 21576, Cabernet Sauvignon, Black Bagal, and that of white wines made from Naples grapes were favorable among the different grape variants.

Development of underground space is actively performed globally for better life in the surface, and the scale of the space is increasing. Extreme care should be taken in the construction of the underground space in urban areas in order to avoid damage of adjacent structures and interference with existing underground space. In case of shallow tunnels, reinforcement of ground and structures is necessary to minimize the damage to structures due to excavation but any standard for optimum range of the reinforcement has not been established yet. In this paper, a series of numerical analyses have been performed for a 20 m diameter tunnel excavated underneath a structure to investigate the degree of damage of the structure according to vertical and horizontal spacing between the tunnel and structure. In addition to that, optimum range of reinforcement is presented for each case where reinforcement is required. It has been observed that the reinforcement is necessary for the ground condition adapted in the analyses as follows: (1) if horizontal spacing ($S_{H}$) approaches to 0D (D: equivalent diameter of tunnel) for vertical spacing (Sv) of 0.5D, and (2) if tunnel exists underneath the structure for vertical spacing (Sv) of 0.75D. The reinforcement is not necessary for Sv of 10 regardless of $S_{H}$. It also has been obtained that the optimum ranges of the reinforcement around structure foundation are 7 m in depth and whole width of the structure and 5 m beyond tunnel sidewall. These reinforcememt ranges have been confirmed to be enough for stability of the structure if types of reinforcement method is appropriately selected.
Objective: Third-generation dual-source computed tomography (3rd-DSCT) allows dynamic myocardial CT perfusion imaging (dynamic CTP) with a 10.5-cm z-axis coverage. Although the increased radiation exposure associated with the 50% wider scan range compared to second-generation DSCT (2nd-DSCT) may be suppressed by using a tube voltage of 70 kV, it remains unclear whether image quality and the ability to quantify myocardial blood flow (MBF) can be maintained under these conditions. This study aimed to compare the image quality, estimated MBF, and radiation dose of dynamic CTP between 2ndDSCT and 3rd-DSCT and to evaluate whether a 10.5-cm coverage is suitable for dynamic CTP. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 107 patients who underwent dynamic CTP using 2nd-DSCT at 80 kV (n = 54) or 3rd-DSCT at 70 kV (n = 53). Image quality, estimated MBF, radiation dose, and coverage of left ventricular (LV) myocardium were compared. Results: No significant differences were observed between 3rd-DSCT and 2nd-DSCT in contrast-to-noise ratio (37.4 ± 11.4 vs. 35.5 ± 11.2, p = 0.396). Effective radiation dose was lower with 3rd-DSCT (3.97 ± 0.92 mSv with a conversion factor of 0.017 mSv/mGy∙cm) compared to 2nd-DSCT (5.49 ± 1.36 mSv, p < 0.001). Incomplete coverage was more frequent with 2nd-DSCT than with 3rd-DSCT (1.9% [1/53] vs. 56% [30/54], p < 0.001). In propensity score-matched cohorts, MBF was comparable between 3rd-DSCT and 2nd-DSCT in non-ischemic (146.2 ± 26.5 vs. 157.5 ± 34.9 mL/min/100 g, p = 0.137) as well as ischemic myocardium (92.7 ± 21.1 vs. 90.9 ± 29.7 mL/min/100 g, p = 0.876). Conclusion: The radiation increase inherent to the widened z-axis coverage in 3rd-DSCT can be balanced by using a tube voltage of 70 kV without compromising image quality or MBF quantification. In dynamic CTP, a z-axis coverage of 10.5 cm is sufficient to achieve complete coverage of the LV myocardium in most patients.

This study was conducted to investigate removal characteristics of gaseous trimethylamine(TMA) through biofilter packed with waste tire-chips. The sludge in this experiment was collected from an activated sludge operated in a wastewater treatment facility treating malodorous pollutants. The nominal amount of collected sludge was inoculated through packing materials in the filter. The removal efficiencies for varying concentrations and SVs(Space velocity) were assessed based on TMA, COD$_{Cr}$, NO$_3{^-}$-N, NO$_2{^-}$-N, NH$_4{^+}$-N and EPS(Extracellular Polymeric Substances) in leachate, since biofilter had been steady-stately operated. The influent concentration of 10 ppm of TMA was removed to approximately 95% regardless of changing SV at 120 and 180 hr$^{-1}$, but it was lowered to 80 to 90% at SV 240 hr$^{-1}$. As influent concentration was gradually increased from 5 to 55 ppm, the removal efficiencies of TMA were initially high for 95% in the range of 5 to 10 ppm, but lowered to 80% for 10 to 30 ppm. As a part of kinetic study for TMA decomposition, V$_m$(maximum substrate removal rate) and $K_s$(substrate infinity coefficient) were 14.3 g$\cdot$m$^{-3}$$\cdot$h$^{-1}$ and 0.043 g$\cdot$m$^{-3}$, respectively while adapted period was shown in the range of 100 to 150 hr. Also, the EPS concentration was consistently observed from the leachate showing 100 to 200 ppm, which indicates that biofilm has been continuously formed and sustained throughout tire-chips packed reactor.
Purpose: Recognize circulation work system and fixing work system's merits and demerits that is enforced in operation of PET/CT center in sudden increase recently. Wish to estimate connectivity degree of individual exposure dose and PET/CT working that is managed periodically through this and look for operation efficiency of PET/CT center. Materials and Methods: (1) Find interrelationship of length of service to be individual exposure dose and PET/CT through TLD interpretation. Specially, evaluate on the basis of data of 2.5 years until 2 quarters 2006~2008 year that show patient increase rapidly the latest. (2) Recognize what countermeasure is evaluating problems happened at circulation work system and fixing work system. Results: Patient examination's number was 14,674 items until 2 quarters 2006~2008 year, and the $^{18}F$-FDG average injection amount was 461.5 MBq. 2 people of 10 radiotechnologist did fixing work PET area and GAMMA area each, and 8 people did circulation work of 3 times for 2.5 years. Average exposure dose that PET area and Gamma area's circulation men in service receive was 1.32 mSv, and PET area men in services came out average 0.825 mSv high than Gamma area men in services. Nurse's exposure dose is 0.28 mSv, and next 2 reason is conjectured. One is contact with patient that medicate $^{18}F$-FDG injection, and another is consultation about patient's next time schedule after examination end. Although exposure dose's amount is not much, is expected to consider continuation work possibility by exposure dose in case is a nurse with pregnancy possibility. Also, $^{131}I$-isotope therapy area's radiotechnologist that use capsule appeared by 0.12 mSv and a nuclear medicine doctor appeared by exposure dose that is less of 0.11 mSv. Conclusions: In case do PET/CT center circulation work after a long time, connoted danger that most men in service is consecutiveness deficiency of business and individual exposure dose increase at early 1 month. Specially, way for individual exposure dose's decrease should be considered. Also, need to evaluate abhorrent work form for efficient work system introduction, and enforce circulation and fixing work suggestion suitable shift working. Finally, must make normalized business guide and so on to prevent circulation work people's business efficiency decline.
