In this thesis, we took some stalks, flowers, and leaves of the Serratuls coronate var. insularis which are able to propagate as mass n our wild to extract the dyeing solution, and cotton and silk were dyed using them in many different conditions. Silk was dyed darker than cotton. We found there was not a big difference between silk and cotton in the given condition considering 'Y' values vs. dyeing temperature. There was a rapid decreasing of 'Y' values after one to two hours and almost all of dyeing was completed at these times. We found there was a dyeing acceleration at the higher dyeing density and the lower 'Y' value. If the density was low, dyeing attachment was reduced by dyeing ability via the density of liquid in both plants. Silk was affected higher by mordant dyes in both plants. Fe and Cu had an effect by mordant dyes slightly an Serratuls coronate var. insularis.
In this thesis, we took some stalks, flowers, and leaves of the Hypericum ascyron L. which are able to propagate as mass in our wild to extract the dyeing solution, and cotton and silk were dyed using them in many different conditions. Silk was dyed darker than cotton with increasing the pH density. Silk was dyed darkest among Hypericum ascyron if pH was neutral. We found there was not a big difference between silk and cotton in the given condition considering 'Y' values vs. dyeing temperature. However cotton was dyed darker in hypericum ascyron. There was a rapid decreasing of 'Y' values after one to two hours and almost all of dyeing was completed at these times. We found there was a dyeing acceleration at the higher dyeing density and the lower 'Y' value. If the density was low, dyeing attachment was reduced by dyeing ability via the density of liquid in this plants. Silk was affected higher by mordant dyes in this plants. Fe and Cu had no effect on Hypericum ascyron.
The objective of this study is to investigate the efficacy of leaf powder colorants as substitutes for traditional fresh juice extract dyeing. Three kinds of leaf powder colorants were prepared by freeze drying method with or without deep freezing as pre-treatment: one powder colorant from fresh leaf juice with deep freezing; two kinds of powder colorant from fresh leaves with and without deep freezing. Their dyeing properties and storage stabilities were studied and compared with the traditional fresh juice extract dyeing. The presence of indigo in the powder colorants was confirmed by UV/Visible absorption spectra. They showed absorption peak at 602nm which was same with indigo absorption peak. Dyeing was done at low temperature around 6$^{\circ}C$. All three powder colorants produced B colors on silk fabrics, showing similar color to the one dyed traditionally with fresh juice extract. The powder colorants from leaves gave higher color strength than the powder from leaf juice. The powder colorant prepared from leaves with deep freezing was the most stable for long term storage as its color and color strength were not changed after 360 days. So, this was used for further dyeing to study the effects of concentration and repeat dyeing on color strength and colorfastness. Fastnesses to dry cleaning and rubbing were fairly good above 4 rating. Further study is needed to improve light fastness. It was concluded that the leaf powder colorant with deep freezing could be used as a substitute for traditional juice extract dyeing at all seasons.
The treatment of dyeing wastewater is not easy because dyes are mainly aromatic, heterocyclic compounds. The most effective technologies and methods to treat dyeing wastewater are costly and involve materials that are difficult to regenerate after use. Therefore, it is necessary to develop cost-effective, eco-friendly technologies to treat dyeing wastewater. The aim of this study was to investigate the removal of sulfur blue 11 (CI 53235) anionic dye using methyl esterified sericite (ME-sericite) adsorbents in an aqueous solution. The results are discussed in terms of the ME-sericite particle size, temperature, pH value and initial sorption rate according to the initial sulfur blue concentration. In addition, we analyzed the adsorption kinetics using a Pseudo-second-order model with the desorption and reusability. The methyl esterification caused a considerable increase in the specific surface area from 4.45 to $17.62m^2/g$. The ME-sericite adsorbents successfully removed > 98% of the sulfur dye in the aqueous solution. For the adsorption of 1 mg of sulfur dye, approximately 4.6 to 6.6 g/L ME-sericite were required. The desorption process was carried out by mixing a NaOH eluent to desorb 90.56% of the sulfur dye with 2 h of contact time. Thus, the ME-sericite is a promising adsorbent to treat dyeing wastewater due to its low dose requirement, high removal efficiency and inexpensive material.
Colorant concentrates are prepared by use of concentration method of colorants extracted from Sappan wood using met hanol. Dyeabilities and fastness properties of silk fabrics dyed with concentrate of Sappan wood are investigated. The results obtained are as follows; 1. The storage stability of colorant concentrate is poor as concentration is excess. 2. Because the colors of dyeings are different with mordants, aluminium acetate, copper acetate, chromium alum and tin chloride are used in order to obtain reddish color. 3. The optimum dyeing temperature and dyeing time are 6$0^{\circ}C$ and 60 min, respectively. 4. Dry cleaning fastness is very good, and light fastness and washing fastness are low. 5. The dyeing method is simple owing to usehess of colorant concentrate prepared without extraction of colorant every time.
The purpose of this study was to identify the best dyeing conditions using onion's outer shell. and to apply to the method in practical daily life. To do this. we extracted quercetin from onion's outer shell and dyed several natural fabrics such as cotton, slack mercerized cotton, ramie. and silk. under the different conditions. Dyed fabrics were Investigated in the aspect of dyeability and colorfastness. The effective conditions for the light-fastness and washing-fastness also have been studied. The results of the experiment were varied with such conditions as temperature. time. pH degree. and treatment and types of mordants. The results are as follows ; 1. Fabrics dyed with onion's outer shell showed excellent dyeability even though there were no mordants, and the silk fabric dyed better than both cotton and ramie fabric. Furthermore, in the cases of repeated dyeing and treatment of mordants using AIK(SO$_4$)$_2$.12$H_2O$ and CuSO$_4$,.5$H_2O$ dyeability of specimen had been improved 2. Cellulose fabrics such as cotton, mercerized cotton and ramie showed the best dyeability under relatively low temperature in the range of 20~4$0^{\circ}C$. On the contrary to cellulose fabric, silk fabric showed the best dyeability under higher dyeing temperature. All fabrics had the higest K/S value at pH 3 regardless of the kind of fiber 3. Dyeing colors varied with the kind of mordants. Colors were turned into yellow in AIK(SO$_4$)$_2$.12$H_2O$ into Yellow-red in CuSO$_4$,.5$H_2O$ , and into green-Yellow in FeSO$_4$.7$H_2O$. As mordants, AIK(SO$_4$)$_2$.12$H_2O$, CuSO$_4$,. 5$H_2O$. FeSO$_4$.7$H_2O$. gallic acid and tartaric acid were used and especially AIK(SO$_4$)$_2$.12$H_2O$ showed the best dyeability and colorfastness in repeated dyeing. Mordants such as AIK(SO$_4$)$_2$.12$H_2O$ made fabrics have better chroma and washing-fastness though the light-fastness was poorer than non mordanting. 4. Repeated dyeing brought us deep color. When fresh dyebath was used each time, the dyeability was increased as the experiment was repeated more. When dyed with used dyebath several times, improved dyeability could not be expected. The optimal using times of the used dyebath was twice.

This research article explores the use of phthalocyanine reactive dye on nylon substrate. The effect of factors such as pH, temperature, liquor ratio and alkali addition on level of dye exhaustion, fixation and total fixation efficiency. Low pH, high temperature and low liquor ratio were found to be suitable conditions for maximum % exhaustion values. The effect of sulphatoethylsulphone(SES) and vinylsulphone(VS) form of the dyes on level of dye fixation was also discussed. The optimized exhaustion (%E), fixation(%F) and total fixation efficiency were determined. Modification of the dyeing process with alkali addition displayed that dye fixation(%) increased by alkali addition. Vinylsulphone(VS) moiety of the dye was found to be superior to. maximum fixation (%F). Appropriate predictable empirical models, relatively a new approach in dyeing processes, were developed incorporating interactions effects of temperature, pH and liquor ratio for predicting % exhaustion, fixation and total fixation efficiency. The significance of the mathematical model developed was ascertained using microsoft excel regression(solver) analysis module. High correlation coefficient was obtained (R2=0.9895 for % exhaustion, R2=0.9932 for fixation, R2=0.9965 for total fixation efficiency) for the model which shows prominent prediction capacity of the model for my conditions. The predictable polynomial equations developed from tile experimental results were thoroughly analyzed by ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) statistical concepts.
One-step reduction/dyeing method was applied for ramie dyeing with natural indigo powder. The effect of reduction/dyeing conditions including the pH of bath, dye temperature and time, and concentration of indigo powder and reduction agent on dye uptake and color properties were investigated. Regardless of addition of alkali, the dyed fabrics appeared in the PB Munsell color range(${\lambda}_{max}$: 660 nm) and the dye uptake was much higher with no addition of sodium hydroxide. Dyeing was carried out through the use of only sodium hydrosulfite in the bath. The maximum dye uptake was obtained at 60 for 30min. Saturated dye uptake was obtained at 2 g/L of sodium hydrosulfite concentration up to 2 g/ L of indigo powder. Whereas, at higher indigo powder concentration (4 g/L), more than 3 g/L of reducing agent concentration was required for obtaining the saturated dye uptake. Color reproducibility was reliable with color difference in the range of 0.03~0.16. Regardless of color strength, fastness to rubbing was acceptable with a 3/4~4/5. Fastness to washing, dry cleaning, and light of samples with low color strength were poor. Whereas, fastness to washing, dry cleaning, and light of samples with high color strength were very good.
The textile industry in Korea, the dyeing sector is an energy-intensive sector and has low per-unit productivity due to its labor-intensive nature. If the defective rate of dyed fabrics is high, additional costs are incurred due to an increase in production cost due to re-dyeing. Therefore, the goal of the dyeing factory was to minimize the defect rate rather than to save energy. It was difficult to check the dyeing state of the fabric in real time due to the risk of accidents due to burns or pressure when dyeing in a high-temperature and high-pressure environment. In this paper, a complex sensor that can measure the exhaustion rate of dye solution in the dyeing machine using turbidity, pH, and conductivity sensors was proposed, and the experimental method and experimental results were analyzed.
This study investigated the effects of the working mechanisms of proteins, mordants, and dyes, as well as the mordanting order, on dye uptake by silk fabric pre-treated with proteins and dyed with freeze-dried sappan wood water extract. Soybean protein and sodium caseinate were used as the proteins. 1. When Al mordants were not used, the dyeability of the fabrics increased upon protein pre-treatment as compared to the case without treatment. 2. Dyeing with protein pre-treatment, followed by mordanting, led to the highest dye uptake, and the optimal protein concentration was 5%. 3. The K/S values slightly decreased with an increase in the dyeing temperature, and the fabric turned dark red in color when dyeing was carried out at increasing temperature. Fabrics showed the highest dye uptake at $40^{\circ}C$. 4. Regarding the effect of time, the K/S values of the fabrics with and without protein treatment showed almost no increase after the initial dyeing time of 10min; further, there was hardly any difference in the cases with and without protein pre-treatment. 5. In case of protein pre-treatment fabrics, the washing fastness was level 2. The dry cleaning fastness showed very excellent result with level 4-5. The rubbing fastness was better in dry rubbing than in wet rubbing of the fabrics. For the light fastness, all dyed fabrics showed low fastness.
