  • Purpose - This study aims to advance our knowledge about factors influencing technical startup performance through analysing technical startup process empirically. This study was conducted to focus on industry structure(industry growth rate, competitive intensity, and enter barriers), technology characteristics(technical excellence and wide range of technical application), and the performance in the technology-based start-ups. Specifically, analyzing moderating effect of technology-marketing strategy, this studied how moderating variables affect technical startup performance under industry structure. Research design, data, and methodology - The subject of this study was technology-based start-ups company that received technology transfer from public organization. The development of the paper model is based on the literature of the preceding research analysis in technology commercialization, performance of technology-based start-ups, and marketing strategy. This study has a construct that was defined in the previous studies, such that technology marketing strategy was defined into the two ways of being broad or narrow in strategic application. From November 3. 2015 to December 22, 220 questionnaires were distributed with targeting to start-up companies in technology-based. 188 responses were collected for empirical analysis except the missing and wrong value responses. This data were used for structural equation modeling and regression analysis. Results - The results of this study are as follows. First, as industry structure variables influencing on performance(technical, financial) of technology-based start-ups, industry growth rate, competitive intensity and enter barriers of variables were verified; high growth rate has more positive effect on performance than low growth rate, competitive low intensity has more positive effect on performance than competitive high intensity, low enter barriers have more positive effect on performance than high enter barriers. Second, as technology characteristics variables influences on the performance(technical, financial) of technology-based start-ups, technical excellence and wide range of technical application of variables were verified ; technical high-excellence has more positive effect on performance than technology low-excellence, wide range of technical application has more positive effect on performance than narrow range of technical application. We also find that technology marketing strategy(broad/narrow) in moderating factors on performance (technical, financial) is as follows. Analyzing the moderating effect depending on technology marketing strategy(broad/narrow), application of technology, and the types of technology strategy(broad/narrow) were revealed that broad marketing strategy had a more significant effect on performance of technology-based start-ups. With AMOS, the relevancy of the study model revealed higher for broad technology-marketing strategy than narrow technology marketing strategy, and the explanatory power revealed to be 6.4% higher in broad marketing strategy than narrow marketing strategy. Conclusions - This study confirmed that industry structure and technology characteristics are important factors influencing the performance of technology-based start-ups. Technology-marketing strategy affects the performance of technology-based start-ups between industry structure and technology characteristics. According to additional analysis, moderating variables and technology-marketing strategy are important factors influencing the performance of technology-based start-ups under industry structure and technology characteristics. • Purpose - This paper examines customers' perception on intra-industry and inter-industry alliance, then compares customer purchasing attitude towards alliance product according to whether it is from high-tech or low-tech industry. Research design, data, and methodology - We used qualitative research methodology of in-depth interviews and focus group interviews. Results - Customers expect products from inter-industry alliance to be highly innovative but also to be inferior in technology. In high-tech industries, since technology is more important than differentiation, inter-industry alliance was negatively evaluated whereas intra-industry alliance elicited positive customer purchasing attitude. Conversely, in low-tech industry where novelty outweighs technology, inter-industry alliance earned positive evaluation. However, for intra-industry alliance, customers' evaluation varied depending on whether both partners share similar prestige and price range. When partners were not similar to each other, customers' perception were positive for less prestigious and pricey brand, but in the reverse case, perception were negative. Conclusions - This research focused on customers' perception and attitude by adopting qualitative methodology while other alliance studies are mostly based on quantitative research. This study provides managers with partner selecting guidelines considering the type of industry, and whether the goal is to enhance novelty or technology.

  • In this paper, I illustrate the situations and problems rail industry is faced with. The rail industry has been suffering deficiency in investment with low technical level. Lacks of strategic marketing plans and low competitiveness in the industry led to a small portion of modal share, estimated at 12.6% in 2001(person base). Recently, rail industry has caught up with the current flow of changes. For example, a prototype of Korea high speed train had been manufactured to be successfully tested on commercial track. And the amount of rail investment increased gradually. The rail industry of EU nations, America, Japan reveals good outcomes, which keeps the balance in the black thanks to growth of investment in rail and high technical level. I have come up with some ideas for improvement, which I believe will be helpful to lead the rail industry. First, I suggest the upbringing of rail industry and technology on a national level. Second, expanding the rail network with the rail modernization. Lastly, I think it is crucial to establish a law and institution before we advance into overseas markets.

  • In this paper, CPLD low power technology mapping for reuse module design under the time constraint is proposed. Traditional high-level synthesis do not allow reuse of complex, realistic datapath component during the task of scheduling. On the other hand, the proposed algorithm is able to approach a productivity of the design the low power to reuse which given a library of user-defined datapath component and to share of resource sharing on the switching activity in a shared resource. Also, we are obtainable the optimal the scheduling result in experimental results of our using chaining and multi-cycling in the scheduling techniques. Low power circuit make using CPLD technology mapping algorithm for selection reuse module by scheduling.

  • One of the biggest problems of Korean economy is polarization of firms for export and domestic demand and that of conglomerates and SME's achievement. One of the culprits lies weakness of intermediate industry such as machine tool. Since intermediate industry is important path where export performance affects domestic demand and whose actor usually is SMEs with high spill over effect in labor market. Especially, intermediate industry Is vulnerable because of industrial policy biased In backward linkage effect. However if a country fails to develop intermediate industry above some critical point, that country would fall in low-tech equilibrium without growth. In case of benign circle where final goods industry growth leads growth of intermediate industry and again it leads that of final goods industry, it can reach high-tech equilibrium. By contrast, in opposite case where in industrialization latecomer fails to link industries likewise above some critical point that country would fall in low-tech equilibrium without growth. Moreover, for several reasons, machine tool firms of Korea have difficulty in catching up technology above critical point. Firstly. Conglomerate demander neglects their product. Secondly, even after success of development overcoming difficulties they fail to get market share for response of dumping of foreign competitors. And the last one is patent litigation of foreign competitors that incapacitate the technology development. For these, Korean machine tool firms fell in 'middle-income country trap' itself, since they stuck in some extent when they technologically catch up. Consequently, for latecomer country in machine tool industry to leapfrog meaningfully policy support is necessary, Weak intermediate industry does not Induce domestic firms and remained fragile. Therefore, localization, policy should reflect condition of technological catch up more than before, in order to be effective and fruitful. There should be turning point over relationship between conglomerates, major demander of machine tool and SME's, for only with active purchasing of conglomerate Korean machine industry can grow.

  • The history of the paper industry has shown a strong technological evolution which has been an essential factor in achieving low cost, high quality paper products and in sustaining the strength of the industry. In the last decades paper machine development has been rapid. This has helped to establish paper as a "low cost" material. In future, the pressure from the competing media will only accelerate the technological efforts to improve cost and functional'||'&'||'not;ity of paper. In addition, in the future, technological advances will be combined with innovation in busi'||'&'||'not;ness concepts. Certain production methods are likely to be developed which will distribute current process stages outside the paper mill. Papermakers can begin to reduce their invest'||'&'||'not;ment risk by subcontracting large-scale base paper production but taking responsibility for the higher value finishing process stages. Finishing will be more closely integrated with the final use. The role of technology supplier to the paper industry will naturally evolve to reflect all these changes. Metso is already actively collaborating downstream in the different paper-related business chains. This collaboration will be crucial for implementation of new business and technology innovations in P'||'&'||'P industry and Metso will certainly benefit from its catalyst role in this transition.

  • The effects of curcumin extract on the physicochemical, microbial and sensory properties of low-fat sausages during refrigerated storage were studied. Sausage products were produced with three different formulations including 0%, 2.5%, and 5.0% curcumin extract. Low-fat sausages made with the addition of curcumin extract had lower (p<0.05) crude fat content, pH and TBARS values than the control sample. The addition of curcumin extract did not affect the water holding capacity, cooking loss, shear force, meat color, texture profile, and total bacterial count in low-fat sausages duringstorage (p>0.05). With regard to sensory evaluation, 2.5% curcumin extract added to low-fat sausages resulted in a high overall acceptability (p<0.05). In conclusion, low-fat sausages with added 2.5% curcumin extract had a higher acceptability and lipid oxidative stability during storage than products without curcumin extract.
