We explore the linkage between the long term variability of the Sun and earth's climate change by analysing periodicities of time series of solar proxies and global temperature anomalies. We apply the power spectral estimation method named as the periodgram to solar proxies and global temperature anomalies. We also decompose global temperature anomalies and reconstructed total solar irradiance into each local variability components by applying the EMD (Empirical Mode Decomposition) and MODWT MRA (Maximal Overlap Discrete Wavelet Multi Resolution Analysis). Powers for solar proxies at low frequencies are lower than those of high frequencies. On the other hand, powers for temperature anomalies show the other way. We fail to decompose components which having lager than 40 year variabilities from EMD, but both residuals are well decomposed respectively. We determine solar induced components from the time series of temperature anomalies and obtain 39% solar contribution on the recent global warming. We discuss the climate system can be approximated with the second order differential equation since the climate sensitivity can only determine the output amplitude of the signal.

PURPOSE. The aim of this Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopic study was to measure the degree of conversion (DC) of dual-cured resin cements light-irradiated through zirconia ceramic disks with different thicknesses using various light-curing methods. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Zirconia ceramic disks (KT12) with three different thicknesses (1.0, 2.0, and 4.0 mm) were prepared. The light transmittance of the disks was measured using ultraviolet visible near-infrared spectroscopy. Four different light-curing protocols were used by combining two curing light modes (Elipar TriLight (standard mode) and bluephase G2 (high power mode)) with light-exposure times of 40 and 120 seconds. The DCs of the two dual-cured resin cements (Duo-Link and Panavia F2.0) light-irradiated through the disks was analyzed at three time intervals (3, 7, and 10 minutes) by FTIR spectroscopy. The data was analyzed using repeated measures ANOVA (${\alpha}$=.05).Two-way ANOVA and Tukey post hoc test were used to analyze the 10 minute DC results. RESULTS. The 1.0 mm thick disk exhibited low light transmittance (<25%), and the transmittance decreased considerably with increasing disk thickness. All groups exhibited significantly higher 10 minute DC values than the 3 or 7 minute values (P<.05), but some exceptions were observed in Duo-Link. Two-way ANOVA revealed that the influence of the zirconia disk thickness on the 10 minute DC was dependent on the light-curing methods (P<.001). This finding was still valid even at 4.0 mm thickness, where substantial light attenuation took place. CONCLUSION. The curing of the dual-cured resin cements was affected significantly by the light-curing technique, even though the additional chemical polymerization mechanism worked effectively.

This paper designs sigma-delta D/A Converter with a high resolution and low power consumption. It reorganizes the input data along LJ, RJ, I2S mode and bit mode to the output data of A/D converter. The D/A converter decodes the original analog signal through HBF, Hold and 5th CIFB(Cascaded Integrators with distributed Feedback as well as distributed input coupling) sigma-delta modulation blocks. It uses repeatedly the addition operation in instead of the multiply operation for the chip area and the performance. Also, the half band filters of similar architecture composed the one block and it used the sample-hold block instead of the sinc filter. We supposed simple D/A Converter decreased in area. The filters of the block analyzed using the matlab tool. The top block designed using the top-down method by verilog language. The designed block is fabricated using Samsung 0.35um CMOS standard cell library. The chip area is 1500*1500um.
The Canard rotor/wing (CRW) aircraft concepts offer great potential for application by allowing the use of a common propulsion system for high-speed cruise and low-speed powered lift. Using the rotor for lift in both flight modes increases its utility. In the hovering mode, the exhausted gas from an gas turbine engine is accelerated through the duct system and it provides the tipjet power for rotor system enough to lift the aircraft. In the cruise mode, the rotor is fixed and the exhausted gas is extracted through the main nozzle, such that the aircraft is able to flight with high speed. The duct system was designed using 1-D fanno line flow theory and empirical data. However, the empirical data of the pressure loss coefficient for various bending and dividing ducts were not enough to design our duct system adaptively. Therefore, using 3-D CFD analysis we obtained the pressure loss coefficient for our duct models and chose the appropriate bending or diving duct type. In this paper, we used the CFD-ACE+ software package for the CFD analysis and the modeling of duct system. Through the 3-D CFD analysis, we investigated also the pressure loss and the velocity distributions of the designed whole duct system as well as the blade duct. Comparing the 3-D CFD result with 1-D analysis result, we lessened the uncertainty of the designed duct system and speculated the problem that was not concerned in design state.

Surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices have become more important as mobile telecommunication systems need h호-frrequency, low-loss, and down-sized components. Higher-frequency SAW divices can be more sasily realized by developing new h호-SAW-velocity materials. The ZnO/diamond/Si multilasyer structure is one of the most promising material components for GHz-band SAW filters because of its SAW velocity above 10,000 m/sec. Silicon carbide is also a potential candidate material for high frequency, high power and radiation resistive electronic devices due to its superior mechanical, thermal and electronic properties. However, high price of commercialized 6- or 4H-SiC single crystalline wafer is an obstacle to apply SiC to high frequency SAW devices. In this study, single crystalline 3C-SiC thin films were grown on Si (100) by MOCVD using bis-trimethylsilymethane (BTMSM, C7H20Si7) organosilicon precursor. The 3C-SiC film properties were investigated using SEM, TEM, and high resolution XRD. The FWHM of 3C-SiC (200) peak was obtained 0.37 degree. To investigate the SAW propagation characteristics of the 3C-SiC films, SAW filters were fabricated using interdigital transducer electrodes on the top of ZnO/3C-SiC/Si(100), which were used to excite surface acoustic waves. SAW velocities were calculated from the frequency-response measurements of SAW filters. A generalized SAW mode. The hard 3C-SiC thin films stiffened Si substrate so that the velocities of fundamental and the 1st mode increased up to 5,100 m/s and 9,140 m/s, respectively.

Nowadays, short distance communication systems with low power energy (LPE) are developed for identification and monitoring of site identification of vessel crews and passengers (SIVCP). LPE communication modules, such as Bluetooth low energy (BLE) and Zigbee, are used for short distance communications with LPE. These modules enable 1:N communications and their popularity is growing since the modules can be mounted on movable objects, such as mobile devices and human body. When these modules are used, the important factor that affects their operation time and design are the capacity and size of battery. Therefore, they must be made as small as possible, and the battery should be selected to be slightly smaller than the module. In this study, we calculate the theoretical life of batteries used in SIVCP BLE modules using data sheet and discharge characteristic graph under the condition of a 1/250 transmission-ratio (TR). We thus calculate experimental life by measuring transmission current for the same TR, and low speed mode current for a 1/5000 TR and measure long-term experimental life using 1/25 TR for days. Through these experiments, we verify experimental methods for the prediction and extension of battery life that would enable us to select appropriate sizes of batteries based on vessel usage and passenger types. The selections of the module TR and battery size are important factors affecting the cost reduction of module design, the battery maintenance, and passenger convenience.
In this paper, we proposed TASL-MAC, a medium-access control (MAC) protocol for wireless sensor networks. In wireless sensor networks, sensor nodes are usually deployed in a special environment, are assigned with long-term work, and are supported by a limited battery. As such, reducing the energy consumption becomes the primary concern with regard to wireless sensor networks. At the same time, reducing the latency in multi-hop data transmission is also very important. In the existing research, sensor nodes are expected to be switched to the sleep mode in order to reduce energy consumption. However, the existing proposals tended to assign the sensors with a fixed Sleep/Listening schedule, which causes unnecessary idle listening problems and conspicuous transmission latency due to the diversity of the traffic-load in the network. TASL-MAC is designed to dynamically adjust the duty listening time based on traffic load. This protocol enables the node with a proper data transfer rate to satisfy the application's requirements. Meanwhile, it can lead to much greater power efficiency by prolonging the nodes' sleeping time when the traffic. We evaluate our implementation of TASL-MAC in NS-2. The evaluation result indicates that our proposal could explicitly reduce packet delivery latency, and that it could also significantly prolong the lifetime of the entire network when traffic is low.

We report effcient cascaded Raman generation and signal amplification at 1.3.mu.m achieved in a ring resonator constructed solely from fiber components, i.e. fusion WDM couplers. Low-loss single-mode fiber with moderate $GeO_2$ content (18 mole %) is used as an active medium and pumped by a Nd:YAG laser at 1.064.mu.m. In a resonant cascaded geometry, this generates the third Stokes line at 1.24.mu.m, which acts as a pump for signal wavelength around 1.3.mu.m. A DFB laser operating at 1.315.mu.m is used to provide an input signal. An output signal powers up to 20 dBm (100 mW) with a 28 dB Raman gain are attained, where the Nd:YAG pump power is 3.4 W. It is also shown experimentally that it is important to use optical filters to suppress feedback from the resonator, permitting high Raman gain and good signal quality.
Ultrasonic bonding is the novel packaging method for flip-chip with high yield and low-temperature bonding. The bonding module is a core part of the bonding machine, which can transfer the ultrasonic energy into the bonding spot. In this paper, we propose topology optimization technique which can make new design of boding modules due to the constraints on resonance frequency and mode shapes. The designed bonding module using topology optimization was fabricated in order to evaluate the bonding performance and reliable operation during the continuous bonding process. The actual production models based on the proposed design satisfied the target frequency range and ultrasonic power. The bonding test was performed using flip-chip with lead-free Sn-based bumps, the results confirmed that the bonding strength was sufficient with the designed bonding modules. Also the performance degradation of the bonding module was not observed after the 300-hour continuous process with bonding conditions.

A long-distance remote sensing of temperature and current based on a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) is proposed and demonstrated. The thermal expanding effect of the epoxy and the Er-doped fiber ring laser (EFRL) are applied to the sensor system to enhance the temperature and current sensitivity. An EFRL with a 5 km-single-mode fiber and a FBG shows a high extinction ratio of more than 60 dB and a low power fluctuation of less than 1 dB. The metal wires are used to supply the current to the sensors. When the NOA65 puts on the FBG as a thermal expanding material, the temperature and current sensitivity of the lasing wavelength shift are about $30\;pm/^{\circ}C$ and 3pm/mA, respectively. The proposed sensing scheme is useful for measurement of current or temperature at a distant object of more than several km.
