  • Although adolescents' obesity prevalence increases recently in Korea due to Westernized dietary life, according to social and economic development, and physical activity decline, distorted body image and improper dietary habits are prevalent, because of excessive obsession with weight control, deriving from psychological impacts including appearance supremacy. This study conducted a survey on health oriented awareness and attitude related with dietary habits targeting adolescents, such as high school students and college students, younger than 24, from May 11 to May 29, 2015. In this study, 280 questionnaire copies were collected out of 300 distributed questionnaire copies, and used 269 copies as analysis data, except 11 copies of which responses were inadequate. The results of this study are as follows: First, the high school students showed higher dietary regularity than the college students. Especially, 95.5% of the college students showed very high irregularity of lunch, compared with just 4.5% of the high school students. Second, the adolescents showed distorted perceived body image in comparison with body mass index (BMI). As a result of examining BMI relationship, according to one's own perception on body type, 28.6% of the respondents perceived themselves fat, despite normal BMI, and 40.4% of the respondents perceived themselves normal, despite low BMI. Third, health behavior activities level was higher, as the regularity of breakfast (B=1.093), lunch, (B=0.650), and dinner (B=0.765) was higher. The variable affecting the most ( ${\beta}=0.372$) was the regularity of breakfast. As interest in weight control was higher, health behavior activities was lower. Because over-interest in weight control may be linked with improper dietary habits or weight control, a caution is needed. The results of this study are expected to be utilized as the basic data for the policy and health-oriented program development to improve adolescents' health behavior practice.

  • A purpose of this study is to investigate the acoustic characteristics of English stress produced by the two groups of South Kyungsang (henceforth, SK) Korean speakers: high-proficiency and low-proficiency with reference to English native speakers. Another purpose is to compare results from the high- and low-proficiency SK Korean subjects with those of the native speakers, and to provide an analytical account of how approximate the high-proficiency SK Korean subjects' production is to the native speakers' and how different the low-proficiency SK Korean subjects' is from the native speakers'. Results indicated that the native speakers' main strategy used in producing stressed syllables was duration while the high-proficiency SK Korean subjects' was predominantly pitch-oriented. The low-proficiency SK Korean subjects' pitch patterns showed regularity, emphasizing the penultimate syllable with pitch. In comparing duration among the three groups, both groups of the SK Korean subjects became more even in their duration values for each syllable as the structure of the word or the sentence became more complex.

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to analyze breast cancer screening behaviors in working women. Method: A total of 354 women over 20 years of age were recruited from three major occupational settings by convenience sampling. The Champion's Health Beliefs Model Scale-Korean version and a structured questionnaire for measuring regularity and accuracy of breast self-examination(BSE) were used. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, $x^$-test, ANOVA, and Duncan post hoc tests. Result: Women who have performed BSE and had both BSE and clinical tests were 49.2% and 32.8%, respectively, while 36.7% of the participants had none of the screening. The screening patterns were significantly different by individual characteristics of age, occupation, experiences of breast disease, education at workplace, and by the level of confidence in health beliefs (p<.01, p<.05). Only 4 % of women performed BSE regularly and the level of accuracy of the BSE was very low as well. Conclusion: Education at the workplace needs to emphasize the recommended guidelines and further increase the quality and results of the BSE for women's health.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate potential effects of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) on bimanual force control capabilities in healthy young adults. Method: Eighteen right-handed healthy young adults (10 females and 8 males; age: 23.55 ± 3.56 yrs) participated in this crossover design study. All participants were randomly allocated to both active-tDCS and sham-tDCS conditions, respectively. While receiving 20 min of active- or sham-tDCS interventions, all participants performed bimanual isometric force control tasks at four submaximal targeted force levels (i.e., 5%, 10%, 15, and 20% of maximal voluntary contraction: MVC). To compare bimanual force control capabilities including force accuracy, variability, and regularity between active-tDCS and sham-tDCS conditions, we conducted two-way repeated measures ANOVAs (2 × 4; tDCS condition × Force levels). Results: We found no significant difference in baseline MVC between active-tDCS and sham-tDCS conditions. Moreover, our findings revealed that providing bilateral tDCS including anodal tDCS on left primary motor cortex (M1) and cathodal on right M1 while conducting bimanual force control trials significantly decreased force variability and regularity at 5%MVC. Conclusion: These findings suggest that providing bilateral tDCS on M1 areas may improve bimanual force control capabilities at a relatively low targeted force level.

  • In this paper we propose and analyze two a posteriori error estimators for the stabilized $P_1/P_1$ finite element discretization of the Stokes equations. These error estimators are computed by solving local Poisson or Stokes problems on elements of the underlying triangulation. We establish their asymptotic exactness with respect to the velocity error under certain conditions on the triangulation and the regularity of the exact solution.

  • Reliance on the Internet has introduced Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) to various security threats. A reliable security protocol and an authentication scheme are thus required to prevent the aforementioned threats. However, an authentication scheme often demands additional cost and effort. Accordingly, a security framework for known participants in VoIP communication is proposed in this paper. The framework is known as Randomness-Optimized Self-Securing (ROSS), which performs authentication automatically throughout the session by optimizing the uniqueness and randomness of the communication itself. Elliptic Curve Diffie-Hellman (ECDH) key exchange and Salsa20 stream cipher are utilized in the framework correspondingly to secure the key agreement and the communication with low computational cost. Human intelligence supports ROSS authentication process to ensure participant authenticity and communication regularity. The results show that with marginal overhead, the proposed framework is able to secure VoIP communication by performing reliable authentication.

  • This study has an objective of suggesting the ways to improve infant's sense of self-respect and peer competence, by examining what effect infant temperament has on infant's sense of self-respect and peer competence. The notable study results through analysis are as follows; First, it was shown that, in regard with adaptability and activity of infant temperament, cognitive ability of the sense of self-respect and peer acceptance, the average score of day care centers was higher, while it was shown that, in regard with response of infant temperament, the sense of self-respect's mother acceptance, peer relationship, sociability of peer competence, the average score of kindergartens was higher, and the boy infants' physiological regularity was shown to be higher than that of girl infants. Second, as a result of looking into the difference of infant temperament, sense of self-respect, and peer competence according to infant's age, we found that, in case of 'response' of infant temperament, age 5 group was classified into 'group a', and age 3 and 4 group was classified into 'group b', and two groups showed the difference, and in case of 'physiological regularity', age 3 group had the biggest regularity while age 5 group had the relatively low regularity, thus two groups showed the difference. In regard with sense of self-respect and peer competence, it was shown that age 4 and 5 group had higher one than that of age 3 group.

  • This paper proposes a novel low-cost and high-speed Reed-Solomon (RS) decoder based on a new degree computationless modified Euclid´s (DCME) algorithm. This architecture has quite low hardware complexity compared with conventional modified Euclid´s (ME) architectures, since it can remove completely the degree computation and comparison circuits. The architecture employing a systolic away requires only the latency of 2t clock cycles to solve the key equation without initial latency. In addition, the DCME architecture using 3t+2 basic cells has regularity and scalability since it uses only one processing element. The RS decoder has been synthesized using the 0.25${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. Faraday CMOS standard cell library and operates at 200MHz and its data rate suppots up to 1.6Gbps. For tile (255, 239, 8) RS code, the gate counts of the DCME architecture and the whole RS decoder excluding FIFO memory are only 21,760 and 42,213, respectively. The proposed RS decoder can reduce the total fate count at least 23% and the total latency at least 10% compared with conventional ME architectures.

  • Galois field arithmetic is important in error correcting codes and public-key cryptography schemes. Hardware realization of these schemes requires an efficient implementation of Galois field arithmetic operations. Multiplication is the main finite field operation and designing efficient multiplier can clearly affect the performance of compute-intensive applications. Diverse algorithms and hardware architectures are presented in the literature for hardware realization of Galois field multiplication to acquire a reduction in time and area. This paper presents a low complexity semi-systolic multiplier to facilitate parallel processing by partitioning Montgomery modular multiplication (MMM) into two independent and identical units and two-level systolic computation scheme. Analytical results indicate that the proposed multiplier achieves lower area-time (AT) complexity compared to related multipliers. Moreover, the proposed method has regularity, concurrency, and modularity, and thus is well suited for VLSI implementation. It can be applied as a core circuit for multiplication and division/exponentiation.
