This paper presents a design of the successive approximation ADC(SA-ADC) applicable to a midium-low speed analog-front end(AFE) for the maximum 15MS/s CCD image processing. SA-ADC is effective in applications ranging widely between low and mid data rates due to the large power scaling effect on the operating frequency variations in some other way of pipelined ADCs. The proposed design exhibits some distinctive features. The "differential capacitor-coupling scheme" segregates the input sampling behavior from the sub-DAC incorporating the differential input and the sub-DAC output, which prominently reduces the loading throughout the signal path. Determining the MSB(sign bit) from the held input data in advance of the data conversion period, a kind of the signed successive approximation, leads to the reduction of the sub-DAC hardware overhead by 1 bit and the conversion period by 1 cycle. Fast Fourier transform (FFT) processors have been widely used in various application such as communications, image, and biomedical signal processing. Especially, high-performance and low-power FFT processing is indispensable in OFDM-based communication systems. This paper presents a novel radix-26 FFT algorithm with low computational complexity and high hardware efficiency. Applying a 7-dimensional index mapping, the twiddle factor is decomposed and then radix-26 FFT algorithm is derived. The proposed algorithm has a simple twiddle factor sequence and a small number of complex multiplications, which can reduce the memory size for storing the twiddle factor. When the coefficient of twiddle factor is small, complex constant multipliers can be used efficiently instead of complex multipliers. Complex constant multipliers can be designed more efficiently using canonic signed digit (CSD) and common subexpression elimination (CSE) algorithm. An efficient complex constant multiplier design method for the twiddle factor multiplication used in the proposed radix-26 algorithm is proposed applying CSD and CSE algorithm. To evaluate performance of the previous and the proposed methods, 256-point single-path delay feedback (SDF) FFT is designed and synthesized into FPGA. The proposed algorithm uses about 10% less hardware than the previous algorithm.
In the outdoor advertising and industrial sites, are trying to implement the LED electric bulletin board system that is based on image processing in order to express a variety of intention in real time. Recently, in various field, rather than simple text representation, the importance of intuitive communication using images is increasing. Thus, instead of outputting the simple input information for communication, a system that can output a real-time information being sought. Therefore, the system is directed to overcoming by converting the problem of mapping an image on a variety of conventional LED display that can not be output images, the possible image output formats. Using an LED of low power, it has developed to output the efficient messages and images within a limited resources. This paper provides a system capable of managing the LED display on the wireless network. Atmega2560, Wi-Fi module, using the server and Android applications client, rather than printing a text only, it is a system to reduce the load generated image output character output in to the conversion process as can be managed by the server.
This study focuses on a ship detection and tracking method using Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar used for horizontal surveillance. In general, FMCW radar can play an important role in maritime surveillance, because it has many advantages such as low warm-up time, low power consumption, and its all weather performance. In this paper, we introduce an effective method for data and signal processing of ship's detecting and tracking using the X-band radar. Ships information was extracted using an image-based processing method such as the land masking and morphological filtering with a threshold for a cycle data merged from raw data (spoke data). After that, ships was tracked using search-window that is ship's expected rectangle area in the next frame considering expected maximum speed (19 kts) and interval time (5 sec). By using this method, the tracking results for most of the moving object tracking was successful and those results were compared with AIS (Automatic Identification System) for ships position. Therefore, it can be said that the practical application of this detection and tracking method using FMCW radar improve the maritime safety as well as expand the surveillance coverage cost-effectively. Algorithm improvements are required for an enhancement of small ship detection and tracking technique in the future.
When a high-energy ultrasound propagates through a solid body that contains a crack or a delamination, the two faces of the defect do not ordinarily vibrate in unison, and dissipative phenomena such as friction, rubbing and clapping between the faces will convert some of the vibrational energy to heat. By combining this heating effect with infrared imaging, one can detect a subsurface defect in material in real time. In this paper a realtime detection of the brazing defect of thin Inconel plates using the UIR (ultrasonic infrared imaging) technology is described. A low frequency (23 kHz) ultrasonic transducer was used to infuse the welded Inconel plates with a short pulse of sound for 280 ms. The ultrasonic source has a maximum power of 2 kW. The surface temperature of the area under inspection is imaged by an infrared camera that is coupled to a fast frame grabber in a computer. The hot spots, which are a small area around the bound between the two faces of the Inconel plates near the defective brazing point and heated up highly, are observed. And the weak thermal signal is observed at the defect position of brazed plate also. Using the image processing technology such as background subtraction average and image enhancement using histogram equalization, the position of defective brazing regions in the thin Inconel plates can be located certainly.
In this paper, we propose a method to accelerate BWN based on FPGA with limited resources for embedded system. Because of the limited number of logic elements available, a single computing unit capable of handling Conv-layer, FC-layer of various sizes must be designed and reused. Also, if the input feature map can not be parallel processed at one time, the output must be calculated by reading the inputs several times. Since the number of available BRAM modules is limited, the number of data bits in the BWN accelerator must be minimized. The image classification processing time of the BWN accelerator is superior when compared with a embedded CPU and is faster than a desktop PC and 50% slower than a GPU system. Since the BWN accelerator uses a slow clock of 50MHz, it can be seen that the BWN accelerator is advantageous in performance versus power.
The wall shear stress in the vicinity of end-to end anastomoses under steady flow conditions was measured using a flush-mounted hot-film anemometer(FMHFA) probe. The experimental measurements were in good agreement with numerical results except in flow with low Reynolds numbers. The wall shear stress increased proximal to the anastomosis in flow from the Penrose tubing (simulating an artery) to the PTFE: graft. In flow from the PTFE graft to the Penrose tubing, low wall shear stress was observed distal to the anastomosis. Abnormal distributions of wall shear stress in the vicinity of the anastomosis, resulting from the compliance mismatch between the graft and the host artery, might be an important factor of ANFH formation and the graft failure. The present study suggests a correlation between regions of the low wall shear stress and the development of anastomotic neointimal fibrous hyperplasia(ANPH) in end-to-end anastomoses. 30523 T00401030523 ^x Air pressure decay(APD) rate and ultrafiltration rate(UFR) tests were performed on new and saline rinsed dialyzers as well as those roused in patients several times. C-DAK 4000 (Cordis Dow) and CF IS-11 (Baxter Travenol) reused dialyzers obtained from the dialysis clinic were used in the present study. The new dialyzers exhibited a relatively flat APD, whereas saline rinsed and reused dialyzers showed considerable amount of decay. C-DAH dialyzers had a larger APD(11.70

The NAUT (Non-contact Air coupled Ultrasonic Testing) technique is one of the ultrasonic testing methods that enables non-contact ultrasonic testing by compensating for the energy loss caused by the difference in acoustic impedance of air with an ultrasonic pulser receiver, PRE-AMP and high-sensitivity transducer. As the NAUT is performed in a state of steady ultrasonic transmission and reception, testing can be performed on materials of high or low temperatures or specimens with a rough surface or narrow part, which could not have been tested using the conventional contact-type testing technique. For this study, the internal defects of spot weld, which are often applied to auto parts, and CFRP parts, were tested to determine if it is practical to make the NAUT technique commercial. As the spot welded part had a high ultrasonic transmissivity, the result was shown as red. On the other hand, the part with an internal defect had a layer of air and low transmissivity, which was shown as blue. In addition, depending on the PRF (Pulse Repetition Frequency), an important factor that determines the measurement speed, the color sharpness showed differences. With the images obtained from CFRP specimens or an imaging device, it was possible to identify the shape, size and position of the internal defect within a short period of time. In this paper, it was confirmed in the above-described experiment that both internal defect detection and image processing of the defect could be possible using the NAUT technique. Moreover, it was possible to apply NAUT to the detection of internal defects in the spot welded parts or in CFRP parts, and commercialize its practical application to various fields.
With the recent development of deep composite multiplication neural network learning, deep learning techniques applied to single-image super-resolution have shown good results, and the strong expression ability of deep networks has enabled complex nonlinear mapping between low-resolution and high-resolution images. However, there are limitations in applying it to real-time or low-power devices with increasing parameters and computational amounts due to excessive use of composite multiplication neural networks. This paper uses blocks that extract hierarchical characteristics little by little using information distillation and suggests the Recursive Distillation Super Resolution Network (RDSRN), a lightweight network that improves performance by making more accurate high frequency components through high frequency residual purification blocks. It was confirmed that the proposed network restores images of similar quality compared to RDN, restores images 3.5 times faster with about 32 times fewer parameters and about 10 times less computation, and produces 0.16 dB better performance with about 2.2 times less parameters and 1.8 times faster processing time than the existing lightweight network CARN.
