Although low-level laser therapy (LLLT) has been a valuable therapeutic technology in the clinic, its efficacy may be reduced in deep tissue layers due to strong light scattering which limits the photon density. In order to enhance the photon density in deep tissue layers, this study developed an optical tissue clearing (OTC) laser probe (OTCLP) system which can utilize four different OTC methods: 1) tissue temperature control from 40 to $10^{\circ}C$; 2) laser pulse frequency from 5 to 30 Hz; 3) glycerol injection at a local region; and 4) a combination of the aforementioned three methods. The efficacy of the OTC methods was evaluated and compared by investigating laser beam profiles in ex-vivo porcine skin samples. Results demonstrated that total (peak) intensity at full width at half maximum of laser beam profile when compared to control data was increased: 1) 1.21(1.39)-fold at $10^{\circ}C$; 2) 1.22 (1.49)-fold at a laser pulse frequency of 5 Hz; 3) 1.64 (2.41)-fold with 95% glycerol injection; 4) 1.86 (3.4)-fold with the combination method. In conclusion, the OTCLP system successfully improved the laser photon density in deep tissue layers and may be utilized as a useful tool in LLLT by increasing laser photon density.

We report high-speed pulse train generation from a relatively low-speed 10-GHz mode-locked laser by means of line-by-line spectral coding. To increase the pulse repetition rate multiplication (RRM) factor, we combine coding schemes for both spectral intensity and phase by placing a simple mask at the coder focal plane. The resulting RRM factor, determined by multiplying the RRM factors of the individual coding schemes, rises as high as 16. To verify the generated pulses, the optical spectra and autocorrelation traces are examined.

This research aimed to conduct an empirical assessment of the penetration of chloride and sulfate ions into mortar sections using an anion exchange membrane(AEM) and laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy(LIBS). The study involved a simultaneous ion chromatography(IC) analysis and LIBS analysis performed on mortars immersed in varying concentrations of chloride and sulfate. The findings revealed that at the wavelengths specific to Chloride(837.59nm) and Sulfur(921.30nm), the LIBS intensity achieved using AEM surpassed that obtained with a paper substrate at equivalent penetration concentrations. A robust correlation was confirmed between LIBS intensity and chloride ion concentration. Furthermore, when juxtaposed with IC analysis concentration outcomes at identical depths, the AEM displayed a higher intensity. The research noted an enhancement in LIBS intensity and a diminution in errors within the low-concentration section when deploying AEM. However, for the Sulfur wavelength of 921.3nm, there remains a need to augment the sensitivity of the LIBS signal within the low-concentration section in future studies. The findings underscore the potential of employing AEM and LIBS for precise analysis of chloride and sulfate ion penetration into mortar sections. This strategy can aid in bolstering assessment precision and mitigating errors, particularly in regions with low concentrations. It is recommended to further research and develop methods to amplify the sensitivity of the LIBS signal for sulfur detection in low-concentration sections. In sum, the study accentuates the significance of employing advanced techniques like AEM and LIBS for efficacious and precise analysis in the domain of mortar section assessment.

The laser-induced plasma affects greatly on the results of welding process. moreover selective evaporation loss of alloying elements leads to change in chemical composition of weld metal as well as the mechanical properties of welded joint. this study was undertaken to obtain a fundamental knowledge of pulsed laser welding phenomena especially evaporation mechanism of different aluminum alloys. The intensities of molecular spectra of AlO and MgO were different each other depeding on the power density of a laser beam Under the low power density condition the MgO band spectrum was predominant in intensity while the AlO spectra became much stronger with an increase in the power density. These behaviors have been attributed to the difference in evaporation phenomena of Al and Mg metals with different boiling points and latent heats of vaporization. The time-averaged plasma temperature and electron number density were determined by spectroscopic methods and consequently the obtained temperature was $3,280{\pm}150K$ and the electron number density was $1.85{\times}10^{19}\;l/m^3$.
This numerical study focuses on the analysis of fume particle dispersion characteristics over the surface of target workpiece in laser micro-hole machining process. The effects of oblique stagnation flow over fume generating machining point are examined by carrying out a series of three-dimensional random particle simulations along with probabilistic particle generation model and particle drag correlation of low Reynolds number. Present computational model of fume particle dispersion is found to be capable of assessing and quantifying the fume particle contamination in precision hole machining which may influenced by different types of air flow patterns and their flow intensity. The particle size dependence on dispersion distance of fume particles from laser machining point is significant and the effects of increasing flow oblique angle are shown quite differently when slot blowing or slot suction flows are applied in micro-hole machining.
In CO2 laser surface machining of plastic films in modern display manufacturing, scattering of fume particles could be a major source of well-recognized film surface contamination. This computational fluid dynamics research investigates the suction air flow patterns over a film surface as well as the dispersion of micron-sized fume particles with low-Reynolds number particle drag model. The numerical results show the recirculatory flow patterns near laser machining point on film surface and also over the surface of vertical suction slot, which may hinder the efficient removal of fume particles from film surface. The dispersion characteristics of fume particles with various particle size have been tested systematically under different levels of suction flow intensity. It is found that suction removal efficiency of fume particles heavily depends on the particle size in highly nonlinear manners and a higher degree of suction does not always results in more efficient particle removal.

Purpose : Our study aimed to compare the effectiveness of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) and light-emitting diode therapy (LEDT) for chronic pain intensity reduction and body temperature increase in older adults with chronic pain. Methods : Overall, 144 of 332 participants' records were used in this retrospective chart review. The study was conducted at a private health center in Busan city and the integrative medical center of a tertiary care hospital in Daegu city, South Korea. Patients experiencing chronic pain for over 6 months were assigned to either the LLLT or LEDT group. Both groups underwent 16 sessions of phototherapy held twice a week for 8 weeks, with each session lasting 60 minutes. The primary outcomes for both groups were the mean visual analogue scale (VAS) scores and body temperatures in both groups. The secondary outcome was the correlation between changes in body temperature and pain intensity. Measurements were recorded at the baseline and at each follow-up session. Results : A decrease in pain intensity and an increase in body temperature (p<.001) were observed in both groups. There was a significant difference in the VAS scores and temperature changes between the groups (p<.001). Odditionally, there were significant differences in the patterns of change in the VAS score and body temperature between the groups as the sessions progressed (p<.01), and a strong inverse correlation between body temperature and pain intensity changes were observed (p<.01). Conclusion : The use of photobiomodulation therapy at a specific wavelength may improve pain severity and simultaneously increase the body temperature among elderly people with chronic pain.
The ablation dynamics and cluster formation of $C_n^+$ ions ejected from 355 nm laser ablation of a graphite target in vacuum are investigated using a reflectron time-of-flight (RTOF) mass spectrometer. At low laser fluence, odd-numbered cluster ions with $3{\leq}n{\leq}15$ are predominantly produced. Increasing the laser fluence shifts the maximum size distribution towards small cluster ions, implying the fragmentation of larger clusters within the hot plume. The temporal evolution of $C_n^+$ ions was measured by varying the delay time of the ion extraction pulse with respect to the laser irradiation, providing significant information on the characteristics of the ablated plume. Above a laser fluence of $0.2J/cm^2$ , large cluster ions ($n{\geq}30$) are produced at relatively long delay times, indicating that atoms or small carbon clusters aggregate during plume propagation. The dependence of the intensity of ablated $C_n^+$ ions on delay time after laser irradiation shows that the most probable velocity of each cluster ion decreases with cluster size.
We investigate the generation of the dark spatial soliton and its role of wave guiding in Fe doped$LiNbO_3$ A cw Ar+ laser of 488 nm is used for the generation of the dark spatial soliton. The generation of the dark spatial soliton is observed even at the laser intensity as low as 10 mW/cm2. The self-defocusing effect is observed when the direction of the intensity variation is parallel to the optic axis, while it can't be seen when perpendicular to the axis. So, it is verified that the refractive index change is generated parallel to the optic axis. When 633 nm He-Ne laser beam is injected into the dark spatial soliton, the beam propagates just as in the diffraction free medium. So, it is verified that the dark spatial soliton can act as a waveguide.eguide.

Experimental research has been carried out to investigate the characteristics of the fatigue crack initiation and propagation behavior of Tailor Welded Blank(TB) sheet used for vehicle body. We used three types of specimens which were machined of the same base metal: one is 1.4mm thick, another is 1.6mm thick, and the third(TB specimen) is laser-welded of two specimens(1.4mm and 1.6mm thick ones). The results of tensile and hardness test indicate that the yield strength of the TB specimen is the highest, and the hardness around welding bead is higher than that of base metal. Fatigue strength and fatigue limit of the TB specimen are much superior to those of the base metal up to $10^6$ cycles. The fatigue crack propagation of the heat-affected zone of the TB specimen is slower than that of the base metal. Welding bead has the fastest crack Propagation in the low stress intensity factor range$(\DeltaK)$ region, but the slowest in the high $\DeltaK$ region. The fatigue propagation characteristic of the TB specimen is relatively stable in comparison with that of the base metal in the high ${\Delta}K$ region around over $28MPa\sqrt{m}$.
