This study was conducted to determine the effect of far infrared ray drying on the microbial and quality changes of vacuum packaged waxy corns, such as microbial growth, rehydration, color differences, weight loss and hardness during the storage at $4^{\circ}C$ and $25^{\circ}C$ for 7 months. After far infrared ray drying for 6 hours at $60^{\circ}C$, 2.32 log CFU/g of total microbial counts in raw waxy corns was enumerated, but no microorganism was detected in steamed or sugar-treated waxy corns. However, no microorganism was observed in all treatments except for control samples until 3 month storage at $4^{\circ}C$, whereas steamed and sugar-treated waxy corns showed 2 and 2.7 log reduction compared to that of control after 3 month storage. Yeasts and molds were more resistant than bacteria against far infrared ray drying at the same conditions. Similar results were observed in $25^{\circ}C$ storage. The degree of gelatinization in raw waxy corns far infrared ray drying changed from 98% to 96.2% after 7 month storage at $4^{\circ}C$, whereas steamed waxy corns with far infrared ray drying changed from 81.14% to 58.73%. Water contents in sugar-treated waxy corns with far infrared ray drying gradually reduced compared to steamed waxy corns as drying time increased. The L values in raw waxy corns far infrared ray drying increased as drying time increased, but L values in steamed or sugar-treated waxy corns significantly reduced after 12 hour far infrared ray drying. Hardness in raw waxy corns was higher than in steamed or sugar-treated waxy corns before storage, but similar hardness was observed between raw- and sugar-treated waxy corns after 9 hour drying. This results showed that the microbial reduction, the enhancement of shelf life and quality establishment of steamed or sugar-treated waxy corns could be maximized by using far infrared ray drying.

The formation of Sajapyeong Alpine Wetland was influenced by factors of drainage basin and its geology, and fire-shifting cultivation. Sajapycong drainage basin had a narrow outlet, Sijeon-cheon in it flowed relatively slowly. Bedrock in basin was weak to mechanical weathering, many rock detritus were, produced. Deforestation for reclamation using fire accelerated topsoil loss. Thus much sediments was supplied to Sijeon-cheon and deposited in the channel bed, and wetland was formed on channel marginal footslope. In Sajapyeong moor were Gullies formed along road. Because they blocked sediments and throughflow transferring into moor, moor became dry land. In order to prevent this drying, we have, to raise water level of a drain ditch to level of weathered bedrock to transfer throughflow into moor, modify the shape of ditch to be naturally irregular, and construct large boulders step on the Sijeon-cheon bed to prevent from lowering of its bed.
Diffusion of water in hardened cement concrete and mortar influences on the dry shrinkage. creep. modulus of' elasticity, etc. In general, water loss through drying process in polymer-modified concrete and mortar is small compared with that of unmodified concrete and mortar due to the films formed by polymer as cement modifieder. The purpose of this study is to investigate the diffusion process of water in the polymer-modified mortars. The polymer-modified mortars using three polymer dispersions and epoxy resin are prepared with various polymer-cement ratios, and water diffusion coefficient of polymer-modified mortars according to inside water content is calculated. From the test results, the water diffusion coefficient of polymer modified mortars i s smaller than that of unmodified mortars and decreases with increasing polymer cement ratio.
The study was conducted to evaluate the effect of drying, curing and freezing on the quality of beef. Three types of dried (without salt = $T_1$, with salt = $T_2$ and salt + spices = $T_3$); three types of cured (salt curing = $T_4$, sugar curing = $T_5$ and brine curing = $T_6$) and three types of frozen beef ($0^{\circ}C=T_7^{\circ}C$, $-10^{\circ}C=T_8$ and $-20^{\circ}C=T_9$) were analyzed at different time intervals up to the period of 180 d. Parameters studied were protein, fat, ash, color and cooking loss of beef. All the chemical constituents (protein, fat and ash) were decreased gradually up to 120 d. The decreasing trend was observed rapid after 120 d up to 180 d of preservation. Highest protein loss was found in $T_7$ (11.1 %) and the lowest protein loss was found in $T_6$ (3.85%) in 180 d preservation and significant (p < 0.01) differences were observed among the different preservation methods. Highest fat loss was observed in $T_6$ (7.62%) and the lowest fat loss was observed in $T_2$ (3.18%) and the differences were also significant (p < 0.05) among different methods during the experimental period. Spices dried beef showed a brighter color than others and cured beef showed brown color and the intensity of color was reduced gradually with the increasing of storage period. $T_9$ showed the lowest cooking loss among 3 treatments of frozen beef and the differences also significant (p < 0.01) up to 180 d. It might be stated that sugar curing ($T_5$) and spices drying ($T_3$) would be the useful technique of meat preservation in rural areas and freezing ($T_9$) would be used in large scale preservation at urban areas.
Laboratory experiments of poultry manure incubated for three days at $35^{\circ}$ were conducted to learn some informations on the relief of nitrogen loss during processing. Results obtained are as follows: 1) Blending phosphoric acid, triplesuperphosphate or superphosphate to poultry manure could reduce the volatilization of ammonia and saved nitrogen in the manure by 80 to 90 percent, though nonblending saved the nitrogen only by 40 to 60 percent during three days incubation. 2) The additives must be blended thoroughly to the manure to obtain the least loss of nitrogen during the incubation. 3) The severe loss of nitrogen was occurred from the drying process of fermented manure of both treatment, that is $60{\sim}80$ percent loss at the blended treatment with phosphoric acid, triplesuperphosphate or superphosphate, and $70{\sim}90$ percent loss at non-blended. 4) Drying the fermented manure under the fixed temperature of about $65^{\circ}$ for three days saved more nitrogen than dried manure under the temperature gradually raised from the room temperature to about $45{\sim}65^{\circ}$ for three days.

Straw and other fibrous by-products are inevitably produced during cereal production and have traditionally been used for many purposes including feeding animals . The potential of these by -products as a feed resource for ruminants is being increasingly appreciated (FAO , 1977). In the future, the amount of cereals fed to farm animals will have to be reduced and livestock will have to rely more on by-products such as straw. The method of animal production can be classified by the major portion of feed. One is animal forage and the other is grains. In Korea , livestock farmers normally depend more than 70% upon grains for the feed stuff. The livestock production system causes the unbalance of nutrition, and results in low productivity of animal farming. In many livestock farms in Korea the rice straw is using as a major forage and the amount of rice straw fed takes 46% of total amount of required forages. Especially the rice straw is mainly using during spring, fall and winte season. However, there are still lots of problems to solved such as harvesting cost, transportation between rice farm ad livestock farm, and quality loss during drying and storage . Therefore the mechanization of straw harvesting is urgently needed to use the renewable agricultural by-products and to overcome the shortage of animal forage. The objective of this research is to develope a straw harvester with new concept which can solve the problems of the quality loss and the labor cost during drying in a field, collecting , and storage. The developed straw harvester is self-propelled machine rebuilt by rice combine and equipped with the pick-up device, the macerater and the mat-forming device.

The purpose of this study is to enhance the development of construction waste-recycling technologies and its economical efficiency by developing environment-friendly tetrapod, precast concrete, where recycled aggregate is used in order to promote recycling of waste concrete. The results of concrete mechanic characteristics experiments by the circulation coarse aggregate-replacement ratio are as the following. The circulation aggregate is lower and higher than natural aggregate in specific gravity and absorption ratio, respectively so that in case of mix proportioning, unit volume increases, while unit aggregate amount decreases. From the result, sufficient experiments of physical characteristics of circulation aggregate are required to get proper mix proportioning. When circulation aggregate-replacement ratio increases, compressive strength tends to decrease comprehensively, but 50% of replacement ratio is good enough to use. When circulation coarse aggregate's replacement ratio is 0%, drying shrinkage, which causes cracks in concrete and deteriorates durability, shows the minimum length change and the higher the ratio, the larger the length change. Thus. when using circulation coarse aggregate, drying shrinkage should be fairly examined. In freezing-and-thawing resistance, weight loss tends to comprehensively increase its loss at the circulation aggregate-mixed site. And the examination of surface aggregate-omission ratio is further needed and dynamic elastic modulus and durability factor(DF) require more study as well. In order to use circulation aggregate to tetrapod, a clear standard for strength should be first prepared and at the same time, more study about durability is needed.

One of the biggest problems affecting bridges is the transverse cracking and deterioration of concrete bridge decks. The causes of early age cracking are primarily attributed to plastic shrinkage, temperature effects, autogenous shrinkage, and drying shrinkage. The cracks can be influenced by material characteristics, casting sequence, formwork, climate conditions, geometry, and time dependent factors. The cracking of bridge decks not only creates unsightly aesthetic condition but also greatly reduces durability. It leads to a loss of functionality, loss of stiffness, and ultimately loss of structural safety. This investigation consists of field, laboratory, and analytical phases. The experimental and field testing investigate the early age transverse cracking of bridge decks and evaluate the use of sealant materials. The research identifies suitable materials, for crack sealing, with an ability to span cracks of various widths and to achieve performance criteria such as penetration depth, bond strength, and elongation. This paper also analytically examines the effect of a wide range of parameters on the development of cracking such as the number of spans, the span length, girder spacing, deck thickness, concrete compressive strength, dead load, hydration, temperature, shrinkage, and creep. The importance of each parameter is identified and then evaluated. Also, the AASHTO Standard Specification limits liveload deflections to L/800 for ordinary bridges and L/1000 for bridges in urban areas that are subject to pedestrian use. The deflection is found to be an important parameter to affect cracking. A set of recommendations to limit the transverse deck cracks in bridge decks is also presented.
Now many sustitution and false articles is used in korea instead of shanyao. To use shanyao correctly, we will make a quilitative certificational plan of shanyao to investigate all of lieraturea, records and documents. And we could reach conclusions as folloews. 1) Source About a source of shanyao, though korea and china has a each other source, we think there is no problem in use of both. 2) Process In our country producing shanyao as medical use is a 'duanma', we can divide into peeling and non-peeling, drying at bulks and at briquets, steaming shanyao and fresh shanyao. Regardless of existence for peeling and steaming, a distributing shanyao is received a proper judgment. Like this result was expressed by insufficiency of standards about medical components or indicating components. We detected a reminding S02 more than 10 ppm. And this expresses that there ia a problum at a drying method. To suggest proper processing methods, a standard of quility will have to be made which the existence of peeling, difference of quility between 'changma' and 'duanma', drying method and exudation test with cutted thickness are adaptable. Besides, 'maoshanyao' and 'guangshanyao' of china is processed by various methods which decrease a medical effect such as too much soaking shanyao in water, steaming with a sulfur, too much peeling, So we must process shanyao like the next methods. (1) When harvesting, dig deeply not to cut off roots. (2) Not to peel, wash shanyao in a washing machine. (3) Dry to 50-60% degree at sunny place or drying machine. (4) To be easy for drying and exudation, cut off a thick piece with 5 mm (5) Dry perfectly at ding machine. 3) Quality3) Quality (1) Functional standards It is not Proper that 'guangshanyao' is used in china because it has a problem with quility on process of working, If they did not soak shanyao in water or heat with steam, it is the real situation that they cannot cutt off shanyao evenly. In conclusion, shanyao must be heavy, powdery with a perfectly non-peeling surface, section surface is yellow-white color, unequal and has no holes. (2) Physicochemical standards It is the real situation that we can not distinguish into quility of shanyao with established test because various workings which decrease medical effects is used. Therefore we suggest a testing standard of S02 which is used in bleaching. And testing standards relatived with decrease of medical effects must be established at once. It must that Dry on loss is less than 14.0%, content of ash is less than 6.0%. Content of acid-nonsoluble ash is less than 0.5%. Contens of heavy metal has to detect less than 30 ppm and there is no reminding agricultural medince.

Concrete placed under hot weather condition suffers from larger slump loss, rapid moisture evaporation due to high air temperature. Proper measures for material, transportation and curing should be taken to prevent the quality deterioration of the concrete under hot weather condition. In Korea, Although the period of hot weather concrete in Korea occupies only 2 months, there are a lot of quality problems including plastic, drying shrinkage and cold joint. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to investigate and compare the temperature history and crack occurrence of the concrete, which was placed in the actual apartment house construction field under hot weather condition, in response to the application of surface covered curing blankets including PE film, single layer clear bubble sheet, white colored bubble sheet and aluminum metalized bubble sheet. Test results indicated that the application of white colored bubble sheet and aluminum metalized bubble sheet showed most favorable results in terms of reduction in temperature rise and crack occurrence as well as easiness in handling. But, due to light reflection by aluminum metalized bubble sheet, it is believed that white colored bubble sheet is preferable.
