  • This paper deals with d-q axis inductance measurements of IPMSM considering core loss at low speed. d-q axis inductance measurements generally are conducted at rated speed and parallel core loss model can be used to exclude core loss effects on inductances. Core loss is generally modeled parallel to input terminal of d-q axis equivalent circuit. Therefore, the effect of core loss on inductance calculation can be varied by core loss modeling. In this paper, d-q axis inductance is calculated parallel and series core loss modeling. Calculated inductances are compared to FEA results and it is concluded that series core loss modeling is more closed to FEA results at low speed.

  • In this paper, an effect on power conversion unit in high-speed railway vehicle by loss of contact between a catenary system and pantograph suppling electrical power to high-speed railway vehicle are investigated. One of the most important needs accompanied by increasing the speed of high-speed railway vehicle is reduced that arc phenomenon by loss of contact brings out EMI. in case of high-speed railway vehicle using electrical power, as comparison with diesel rolling stock, PLD(Power Line Disturbance) such as harmonic, transient voltage and current, EMI, dummy signal injection etc usually occur. To analysis the effect on loss of contact, it is necessary electrical modeling system between the contact line and the pantograph according to the loss of contact. Therefore analytical model of a contact line and a pantograph is constructed to simulate the behaviour of loss of contact. The reliability of the modeling system is verified by simulation implementation on kinds of loss of contact.

Selection of Optimal Values in Spatial Estimation of Environmental Variables using Geostatistical Simulation and Loss Functions

  • Spatial estimation of environmental variables has been regarded as an important preliminary procedure for decision-making. A minimum variance criterion, which has often been adopted in traditional kriging algorithms, does not always guarantee the optimal estimates for subsequent decision-making processes. In this paper, a geostatistical framework is illustrated that consists of uncertainty modeling via stochastic simulation and risk modeling based on loss functions for the selection of optimal estimates. Loss functions that quantify the impact of choosing any estimate different from the unknown true value are linked to geostatistical simulation. A hybrid loss function is especially presented to account for the different impact of over- and underestimation of different land-use types. The loss function-specific estimates that minimize the expected loss are chosen as optimal estimates. The applicability of the geostatistical framework is demonstrated and discussed through a case study of copper mapping.

유도전동기 드라이브 시스템의 효율성능을 예측하기 위한 손실 모델링 (Loss Modeling in order to Predict the Efficiency Performance of Induction Motor Drive System)

  • The precise and reliable loss model for induction motor and converter system is very important in order to predict the efficiency performance of variable speed drives. This paper proposes an accurate loss model of induction motor and converter system. The motor losses, such as stator and rotor copper loss, core loss and stray loss, are considered for fundamental and harmonic frequencies. Also considered are the skin effect on rotor resistance, temperature effect on bath stator and rotor resistance, magnetizing inductance saturation, and friction and windage loss. All the above features are incorporated in a synchronous frame dynamic d-q equivalent circuit. The converter system, consisting of a diode rectifier and PWM transistor inverter, is modeled accurately for conduction and switching losses. Validity of the models, in both steady state and transient conditions, is verified by simulations.

Behavior, Design, and Modeling of Structural Walls and Coupling Beams - Lessons from Recent Laboratory Tests and Earthquakes

  • Observed wall damage in recent earthquakes in Chile and New Zealand, where modern building codes exist, exceeded expectations. In these earthquakes, structural wall damage included boundary crushing, reinforcement fracture, and global wall buckling. Recent laboratory tests also have demonstrated inadequate performance in some cases, indicating a need to review code provisions, identify shortcomings and make necessary revisions. Current modeling approaches used for slender structural walls adequately capture nonlinear flexural behavior; however, strength loss due to buckling of reinforcement and nonlinear and shear-flexure interaction are not adequately captured. Additional research is needed to address these issues. Recent tests of reinforced concrete coupling beams indicate that diagonally-reinforced beams detailed according to ACI 318-$11^1$ can sustain plastic rotations of about 6% prior to significant strength loss and that relatively simple modeling approaches in commercially available computer programs are capable of capturing the observed responses. Tests of conventionally-reinforced beams indicate less energy dissipation capacity and strength loss at approximately 4% rotation.

  • In this paper, A technique for detecting contact loss at the input power of a railway vehicle has been studied when the contact loss occurs in the feed system. The impedance of the actual railway line was applied to the modeling of the feed system, and modeling was performed based on the performance of the electric railway vehicle. The input voltage and current of the railway vehicle through modeling were analyzed by applying TEO and STFT signal processing technique.

  • Generator protection device has to detects an internal fault conditions in generator and abnormal operating conditions must be due to the hazards. Loss of excitation may cause generator itself failure as well as serious operating problem in power system, and then requires an appropriate response of generator protection device. Details modeling of generator control system and analysis of transient states in generator are important for optimal operation in power plants. In addition, the fault simulation data are also used for testing the characteristics of IED. In this paper, the hydro generator control system using PSCAD/EMTDC, visual simulation for power systems, was modeled. The generator control system which is composed of generator, turbine, exciter, governor was implemented. The parameters of generator control system model were obtained from field power plant. Loss of excitation simulations were performed while varying the fixed load. Several signals analysis were also performed so as to analyze transients phenomena.

  • This paper proposes a convenient thermal modeling method for loss distribution control method of 3-level Active NPC(Neutral Point Clamped) inverter. In the drawback of conventional 3-level NPC, the generated losses can occur unbalance in each switching device, as a result, thermal utilization of designed system has been decreased. In order to compensate unbalanced losses, Active NPC inverter performed loss balancing control with thermal modeling during operation of each switching device. Therefore, this paper deals with a convenient thermal modeling method based on newton's law of cooling rather than conventional thermal modeling method. Both simulation and experimental results based on 10kW 3-level Active NPC inverter confirm the validity of the analysis performed in the study.

  • 이 논문에서는 여러 종류의 고객을 서비스하는 멀티클래스 손실시스템의 상태를 마코프 확률과정으로 표현하고 분석하는 방법을 연구한다. 특히 손실시스템에 대한 유니트 개념을 설명하고 등확률 유니트 배정을 운용하는 경우를 중점적으로 다룬다. 상태방정식을 이용하여 극한확률을 구하는 방법을 연구하고 손실확률 등의 성능척도를 산출한다. 간단한 시스템에 대한 분석을 통하여 일반적인 시스템의 특성을 알아본다.

  • This paper presents a method to model the path loss characteristics in microwave urban line-of-sight (LOS) propagation. We propose new upper- and lower-bound models for the LOS path loss using fuzzy linear regression (FLR). The spread of upper- and lower-bound of FLR depends on max and min value of a sample path loss data while the conventional upper- and lower-bound models, the spread of the bound intervals are fixed and do not depend on the sample path loss data. Comparison of our models to conventional upper- and lower-bound models indicate that improvements in accuracy over the conventional models are achieved.
