  • Embedded cost pricing is easy to be applied in the calculation of transmission cost and guarantees perfect recovery of revenue requirement. However, it caused in equity of cost distribution in the restructured electrical market. Though, marginal cost pricing has been studied to be applied to economic signal of members. But it has the cumbersome processes of the revenue reconciliation. This paper presents a new recovery of revenue requirement method that is satisfied with economic signal, using MLF.

  • This paper presents the design of a double pancake winding type high $T_c$ superconducting power transformer In the design of the transformer. BSCCO-2223 tape was considered as the conductor. Double pan cake winding was adopted in order to easy the construction of the winding and to lessen the leakage reactance of the transformer. Numerical calculation was used to decide the arrangement of the double pan cake winding. Room temperature bore type cryostat has been constructed and its heat loss was estimation.

  • Estimation of rebar quantity may be used as an index to evaluate the economic feasibility of structural designs. However, when using the software to estimate the rebar quantity, there may be some limitations such as data loss caused by human errors and estimation delays caused by increased input time, since the information on arrangement of rebar is inserted manually. To solve the problems of such quantity estimation software, it is necessary to develop a method on automatic input/output of structural design information for quantity estimation and an algorithm for accurate estimation of rebar quantity. The purpose of this study is to improve the existing rebar quantity estimation by connecting with the database on information related to rebar estimation and the algorithm for rebar estimation, in order to develop an algorithm to estimate an accurate, net rebar quantity. The study result can be used as basic data for development of software for efficient structural designs and automatic framework estimation of buildings.

  • Microsystem technology has been applied to space technology and became one of the enabling technology by which low cost and high efficiency are achievable. Micro propulsion system is a key technology in the miniature satellite because micro satellite requires very small and precise thrust force for maneuvering and attitude control. In this paper research on micro solid propellant thruster is reported. Micro solid propellant thruster has four basic components; micro combustion chamber, micro nozzle, solid propellant and micro igniter. In this research igniter, solid propellant and combustion chamber are focused. Micro igniter was fabricated through typical micromachining and evaluated. The characteristic of solid propellant was investigated to observe burning characteristic and to obtain burning velocity. Change of thrust force and the amount of energy loss following scale down at micro combustion chamber were estimated by numerical simulation based on empirical data and through the calculation normalized specific impulses were compared to figure out the efficiency of combustion chamber.

Calculation of Iron Losses in Inverter-fed Induction Motors based on Time-stepping FEM

  • This paper presents a method for calculating iron losses in three-phase induction motors under the inverter supply through the field-circuit coupled time-stepping finite element method (FEM). Iron losses are calculated by using the three-term iron losses separated model and modifying the loss coefficients obtained by the iron losses curves which are provided by the manufacturer under the sinusoidal supply. Simulation results by the presented method are verified by the measured results with an error lower than 5%, confirming the validity of the proposed method. Finally, iron losses distribution of the inverter-fed three-phase induction prototype motor is shown.

  • Taking into consideration the thermal lensing effects of laser rods, depolarization losses of laser beams induced by the thermal birefringence were calculated. The numerical model proposed for the calculation, which is based on the paraxial ray optics formulation and provides explicit expressions of optical path lengths for various optical elements, was described in detail. Calculated results were compared with those of Jones matrix formulation and experiments. The calculated results are in good agreement with experimental results.

  • This study is concerned with effects of impeller blade thickness on performance of a turbo blower. This turbo blower is developed as an air supply system in 250 kW MCFC system. The turbo blower consists of an impeller, two vaneless diffusers, a vaned diffuser and a volute. The three dimensional, steady state numerical analysis is simultaneously conducted for the impeller, diffuser and volute to investigate the performance of total system. To consider the non-uniform condition in volute inlet due to volute tongue, full diffuser passages are included in the calculation. The results of numerical analysis are validated with experimental results of thin blade thickness. Total pressure ratio, efficiency, slip factor and blade loading are compared in two cases. The slip factor is different in two cases and the comparison of two cases shows a good performance in thin blade thickness in all aspects.

  • This paper presents a new algorithm for power system contingency analysis and sensitivity matrix associated with the contingency measures. The algorithm has several advantages over conventional ones in terms of both accuracy and time of computation by improving base A.C. load flow calculation scheme, contingency evaluaiton formula based on a variable slack generating power concept and transmission loss formula. The algorithm was tested for the 5-bus system and 24-bus IEEE Reliability Test system with satisfactory results.

  • It is necessary to calculate the system's factor for reasonable operation and security enhancerrent of large scale distribution system This paper presents an effective three phase load flow calculation for distribution system unbalance evaluation. It takes into account an untranspoed transmission line, the core loss as a functioo of voltage on the serondary side of the transformer, and a generator unbalance mxle1 which is also suitable for a salient pole machine. The load flow algorithm is used Newton-RaiDson method of load flow equations in bus phase voltage.oltage.
