The use of stainless steel crowns are indicated for restoration of primary or permanent molars with proximal dental caries, extensive dental caries, or previous pulp treatment with increased danger of tooth fracture. Stainless steel crowns were introduced by Humphrey in 1950. For their improved durability, longevity, and success rate, they have been strongly considered for restoring extensive and multi-surfaced dental caries of molars in pediatric dentistry. However, they also have shortcomings, such as possibility of pulpal exposure or damaging proximal surface of adjacent teeth. In addition, when oversized stainless steel crowns are used, eruption of the adjacent permanent teeth may be disturbed by their prominent margin. As a means to compensate the shortcomings of stainless steel crowns, use of orthodontics bands may be considered. It is an alternative restoration method, where an orthodontic band is placed on a tooth first and cavity is restored with filling material, such as composite resin, glass ionomer, or amalgam. The use of an orthodontic band is indicated for molar restoration with cervical dental caries, extensive dental caries, enamel hypoplasia, or previous pulp treatment. Because it requires shorter chair time compared to stainless steel crown, its application is very useful for children with poor behavior. However, restoration using an orthodontic band requires good oral hygiene after its application. This case report illustrates the conservative restoration of primary molars and permanent molars with extensive dental caries using orthodontic bands.
Objectives: Radiation is one of the most important sources of free radical (such as reactive oxygen species) production, which plays an essential role in the etiology of over hundred diseases. The aim of the study was to investigate some immune parameters and hematological indices in healthy workers of the Radiology Department, University Hospital of Mashhad, Iran. Methods: The study was performed on 50 healthy workers: 30 radiology staff as the case group and 20 laboratory workers as the control group. The radiation dose received by the radiology staff participating in the study was less than the annual maximum permissible level, 50 millisievert. Hematological parameters, lymphocyte proliferation and cytokine production were studied in both groups. Results: Among healthy radiology workers, the hematological indices did not differ statistically; however, their proliferation indices and $IFN-{\gamma}$ levels showed significant increases in parallel with decreases in the IL-4 levels as compared to controls. The immune system of workers exposed to low-dose ionizing radiation was found to be shifted from a Type 2 to a Type 1 response to promote cellular immunity. Conclusion: Based on our data, exposure to low-dose ionizing radiation may decrease the prevalence, frequency, and recurrence of various cancers and infectious diseases because of an increase in Th1-cell-based response, thus leading to more protection of the human body against tumor cells and foreign agents and possibly increased longevity. However, due to high rate of fluoroscopy use for interventional radiology, we suggest continuing research projects on radiation protection and hazards to prevent irreversible damage. As a recommendation, in future studies, radiology staff with a weakened immunity due to high radiation exposure should be considered as good choices to be treated using acupuncture techniques because acupuncture has been demonstrated to enhance the function and the number of immune cells.

In this paper, we implemented the elderly home training contents provide individual exercise prescription according to the user's athletic ability and provide personalized program to the elderly individual. Health promotion is essential for overcoming the low health longevity of senior citizens preparing for aging population. Therefore, the lower body strengthening exercise to prevent falls is crucial to prevent a fall in the number of deaths of senior citizens. In this game model, the elderly are aiming at home training contents that can be found to feel that the elderly are going out of walk and exercising in the natural environment. To achieve this, Kinect extracts a specific bone model provide by the Kinect Sensor to generate the feature vectors and recognizes the movements and motion of the user. The recognition test using the Kinect sensor showed a recognition rate of about 80 to 97%.
Some biological phenomena of Anagrus incarnatus Haliday, an egg parasitoid of planthopper, were studied under three different constant temperatures. Duration from egg to adult emergence of the parasitoid from the BPH eggs were 21.5, 13.6 and 10.6 days under $20^{\circ}C$, $25^{\circ}C$ and $30^{\circ}C$, respectively. Rate of the development was highly correlated with temperature. The critical temperature was estimated as $10.0^{\circ}C$ and the effective degree days was 210.3 day-degree. Durations for the development of A. incarnatus under 25$\pm$$1^{\circ}C$ (16L : 8D) were 12.4, 12.5 and 12.1 days from eggs of N. lugens, S. furcifera and L. striatellus, respectively. Duration of the development of A. incarnatus from 1, 3, 5, 7 days old BPH eggs were 12.5, 12.1, 12.9 days, respectively. The average longevity of adult was 5.3 days under 25$\pm$$1^{\circ}C$. Number of the ovarian and practically oviposited eggs were 34.8$\pm$28 and 28.3$\pm$0., respectively. Female A. incarnatus laid most of the eggs within few days after the emergence ; over 60% within 24 hours, nearly 90% upto the 2nd day, and nearly 100% upto the 3rd day.
This study has been carried out to investigate the varietal resistance of Tong-il rice variety (IR-667) at the seedling stage to the brown planthopper. Nilaparvata lugens STAL, and further to know the biological effects of the varieties to the insects. The results obtained were as followings; 1. Tong-il variety tested in this experiment was susceptible to the brown planthopper but it seemed to be a little more tolerable than the Japonica varieties which had been recommended in Korea. 2. Tong-il variety (Suwon 213, Suwon 213-1, Suwon 214, and Suwon 215) was highly prefered by brown planthopper for feeding to the Korean recommended varieties Paltal, Jinheung, Akibare, and Shin #2. 3, The resistant varieties Mudgo, Kayama MGL-2, and Karsamba ASD-7 which showed low feeding preference exhibited higher ovipositional preference than the susceptible varieties. Relatively greater number of eggs was recorded on the Tong-il variety (Suwon 213, Suwon 213-1, and Suwon 215) in comparison with the Korean recommended varieties, 4, When the female brown planthopper adults were caged on Tong-il variety (Suwon 214) and the resistant variety Karsamba ASD-7 separately, greater number of eggs were observed on Suwon 214 and less on Karsamba ASD-7, while when two varieties Suwon 214 and Karsamba ASD-7 were given together in the same cage, Karsamba ASD-7 was much more prefered for oviposition to Suwon 214. 5. There was no difference in e99 Periods and their hatchal\bility between the resistant and susceptible varieties, but nymphal periods, rate of adult emergence, longevity of the adult, and its fecundity were significantly different according to the varieties.
This study investigated inhibitory doses of electron beam and X-ray irradiation by comparing their effects on the development and reproduction of four insect pests (Myzus persicae, Tetranychus urticae, Liriomyza trifolii, and Frankliniella intonsa). When M. persicae nymphs were irradiated with 100 Gy of electron beam and 30 Gy of X-ray beam, offspring production by adults that developed from the treated nymphs was completely inhibited. When M. persicae adults were irradiated with 200 Gy of electron beam and 50 Gy of X-ray beam, emergence of the $F_1$ generation was inhibited. However, these two ionizing radiations did not affect adult longevity. When T. urticae eggs were irradiated with 150 Gy of electron beam and 50 Gy of X-ray beam, egg hatching was completely inhibited. When L. trifolii pupae were irradiated, the emergence rate decreased with increasing doses of X-ray irradiation. After F. intonsa adults were irradiated with 250 Gy of electron beam and 200 Gy of X-ray beam, egg hatching of the $F_1$ generation was completely suppressed.
Residual and biological effects of buprofezin(25% WP) on the larvae of the brown planthopper(BPH), Ni/aparvata /ugens SUlI, were studied by pot experiments. Residual lethal effects on the 2nd instar larvae lasted significantly long, and were higher with application rates. The rate of 17.50 g a.i./10a showed ca. 90% mortality even on 35 days after treatment (OAT). $RLT_{90}$ and $RLT_{50}$(residual lethal time that can show 90% and 50% mortality, respectively) with rates of 5.78-11.50 g a.i./lOa were 9.0-13.5, and 16.8-22.8 days, respectively. It was estimated that 13.00 and 4.44 g a.i./lOa were the rates of buprofezin which could show mortalities of 2nd instar BPH larvae above 95% and 50% until 15 OAT, respectively. The residual lethal effect of 7.00 g a.i./10a on the 1st instar BPH larvae was 100 % even on 17 OAT. $RLT_{50}$ was 32.5 days which was 15 days longer than $RLT_{50}$ for the 2nd instar larvae. Buprofezin with 7.0 g a.i./lOa showed 100% and 70% mortality for 1st-4th and 5th instar BPH larvae, respectively. Longevity of a female BPH which emerged from the 5th instar larvae treated by buprofezin was greatly reduced, and its fecundity was nearly zero.
To establish the successive rearing of red-striped golden stink bug, Poecilocoris lewisi Distant, developmental characteristics, host plant and oviposition preference were investigated. Raw peanuts were supplied to the insect as a substitute food at 25$\pm$$1^{\circ}C$, 60$\pm$5% R.H. and under 16Lㆍ8D photo regimen. Total developmental period was 48 days: 8.2$\pm$0.4, 5.4$\pm$0.2, 8. $\pm$0.5, 6.4$\pm$0.4, 7.4$\pm$0.3 and 12.6$\pm$0.8 days for egg, first though fifth instar, respectively. The instar survival rate was 57.1% and the sex ratio was estimated to be 53 : 47 (male : female). Adult longevity was on the average 30.8 in male and 35.4 days in female, respectively. Egg of P. lewisi was globular ($\phi$1.8-1.9mm) with milky white in color The number of eggs oviposited per clutch was mostly 14. Pre-oviposition period was 25.8 days and mean frequencies of oviposition were 4.4. Female preferred to oviposit on the host plant when available, but oviposited on the artificial leaf successively when the host is not around. On the other hand P. lewisi preferred to suck the nectar of stem or fruit of Phellodendron amurense Ruprecht, Zanthoxylum schinifolium Siebold et zuccarini, Cornus officinalis Siebold et zuccarini and Cornus controversa Hemsley among the 18 plant species tested.
This study was conducted to investigate the bionomics, host range and damage aspect of Japanese juniperus bark borer, Semanotus bifasciatus M., which shoves the severe damage for the Juniperace in Chonnam province, recently. Host plants were Juniperus virginiana, J. chinensis var. kaizuka, J. chinensis, Biata orientalis var. nepalensis, Chamaccyparis ostus and Thujopsis dolabrata. Out of those, J. chinensis var. kaizuka is newly investigated in this study. Damage rate in each area was $16.5\%$ in Kwangju, $4.25\%$ in Damyang ana $6.5\%$ in Hwasoon. Adults appear once a year, with a peak at late March to early April. Adults emergence during the day showed the peak at 13 to 15 hours and were influenced in the maximum temperature in a day. Attack direction of larva after invasion in the stem was $62\%$ toward base, $22\%$ toward tip and $16\%$ toward horizon, and the damage in each DBH (Diameter of breast height) was the greatest at $30\~40mm$. At period of each stage, egg was $15.8\~19.7$ days, larva was $l12\~126$ days and pupa was $15\~21$ days. Longevity of adult was 19 days for female and 16 days for male.
Life table experiments were performed in order to examine the effects of food quality on Moina macrocopa fed with four kinds of algal foods, Botryococcus sp., Scenedesmus subspicatus, Selenastrum capricornutum, and Chlorella sp., at $20^{\circ}C$ . The temperature effects on M. macrocopa were also assessed, feeding Chlorella at $17^{\circ}C$,$20^{\circ}C$,$25^{\circ}C$, and a combination of $28^{\circ}C$ (light) and $25^{\circ}C$ (dark). The cartilaginous Botryococcs cells were Inappropriate food for Moina. Among the foods tested, Chlorella was the food of the best quality in all accounts of life history traits. Moina grown on Chlorella showed higher net reproductive rate ($R_0$), longer mean and maximum longevities, earlier mean age at maturity, longer mean carapace length at maturity, larger mean clutch size, and shorter mean time interval between clutch productions than those grown on Selenastrum and Scenedesmus. An optimal temperature for Moina was $20^{\circ}C$ . When Moina were grown on Chlorella at $20^{\circ}C$, they showed the highest r, the highest $R_0$, the shortest T, the longest mean longevity, the earliest mean age at maturity, the longest mean carapace length at maturity, and the largest mean clutch size. The results of life table experiments showed that the individual and population growth patterns were much more affected by low temperature $17^{\circ}C$, than by high temperature ($\geq 20^{\circ}C$). In the optimal condition, the r value was very high, 5.1 in $d^{-1}$. In conclusion, the food quality and the temperature are the most important factors to govern the size and continuity of Moina population, by which the individual growth rates and reproductivity of members in the population can be controlled to survive in their environment such as small and temporary water bodies in nature.
