In the field of logistics, the maritime shipping industry plays a critical role as the backbone of global trade activities. Nevertheless, previous studies on the commercialization and benefits of blockchain technology are limited in the field of marine logistics. Thus, the purpose of this study was to predict the benefit for each group involved in marine logistics when blockchain technology is applied. As such, 21 factors of benefits were selected for seven major logistics groups (financial institutions, freight forwarders, inland transportation, ocean carriers, port operators, port-related government authorities, and shippers) to study the benefit expected for each through the commercialization of blockchain technology. Based on the results, a different benefit level is expected for each group when blockchain technology is used. In order, ocean carriers (0.155), inland transportation (0.150), financial institutions (0.153), port operators (0.145), freight forwarders (0.142), port-related government authorities (0.129), and shippers (0.126) were found to benefit most from the use of blockchain technology. This study has industrial implications in that it presents the benefits expected when blockchain technology is realized and used in marine logistics by groups involved in logistics transactions.

Since the mid 1980s, the concept of logistics has become more important to the enterprises in strategic sense because it had aggrandized itself to more comprehensive and integrative concept. Therefore study on the service organization of the logistics system for customer’s satisfaction from the management’s point has been focused as one of the major subject in order to improve the logistics quality which would ultimately increase the value of logistics service. This study has been focused on what the port logistics functions and the factors of the port logistics quality are those Korean port managers acknowledge as important factor. And examins these port logistics quality levels and the port logistics value (port productivity, service results) obtained by the results of these activities while reviewing the relation of the custom value which the port managers evaluate in order to evaluate and promote the competitiveness of the Korean port. According to the study results the port logistics function which the Pusan Container Terminal managers recognized as important were customer service management the flexibility of the port facilities and curtailment of the original operation cost of the port. It also indicated that the managers recognized the importance of the customer-oriented terminal management as it showed a close relationship with the port quality level.

Purpose - Along with the rapid growth of the economics and IT industry, E-commerce appears as the next potential area of world economics. For this no-entity shops commerce style, logistics is crucial for the success of E-commerce. Research design, data and methodology - In this paper, Dangdang.com, the largest online marketplace in China, is studied and a conceptual model is present, to develop a practical way to develop the logistics system in E-commerce situation. Results - This research finds that following 4 factors are critical success factors for E-commerce logistics: 1) logistics centres are very important to control the inventory management; 2) keep good cooperation with third-party logistics (3PL) can guarantee good quality shipping service and also can reduce delivery costs; 3) build strong information system; 4) quick response system also needed for an efficient logistics system. When E-commerce firms are developing their logistics systems, they should pay more attention to these 4 critical success factors. Conclusions - In summary, successful 3PL management is vital for competing regionally and globally throughout the logistics value chain. We see information system as an enabler in logistics management to get the right products to the right place in the right quantity at the right time and to provide quality services to satisfy the customer's needs.

Purpose - This study analyzes the effect of the authorized economic operator-mutual recognition arrangement (AEO-MRA) on the performance of Korean exporters and importers. The effect of the import-export companies' characteristics, such as annual sales, the number of foreign markets, and overseas experience, on the AEO-MRA is deduced; the relationship between this effect and firm performance is analyzed. Design/methodology - An empirical research model was constructed and analyzed using structural equation modeling. The effect of AEO-MRA on logistics and operational performance was derived from the aforementioned characteristics as leading factors of the AEO-MRA. The regulatory influence of cooperation with logistics companies was analyzed in the AEO-MRA effect on logistics performance. Thus, 172 valid samples were obtained from import-export companies certified by the AEO-MRA. Findings - Among the aforementioned characteristics, only "annual sales" has a positive effect on the AEO-MRA, whose effect enhances logistics and operational performances. The AEO-MRA effect did not directly affect operational performance. Owing to the adjustment effect analysis, the AEO-MRA effect and logistics performance relationship is strengthened if the cooperative relationship with the logistics company is higher than a certain level. If this cooperation falls below a certain level, the AEO-MRA effect on logistics performance reduces. Thus, logistics cooperation is an important factor in the AEO-MRA effect and logistics performance relationship. Originality/value - Hinging on the resource-based theory and relational viewpoint, an empirical model that explains the relationship between the AEO-MRA effect and firm performance is established.

Korea has the plans to improve nation and corporate global competitiveness through reducing the logistics costs. Ministry of Knowledge Economy, as the government department of in charge of the plan, establish industrial logistics policies in 2002 and 2007 and it's about time to set up the third industrial logistics policy in 2012. There are new trends for the logistics environment in terms of environment-friendly logistics, logistics securities, win-win collaboration etc. This study propose some harmonious plans between logistic productivity and the new trends in the field of logistics. For the purpose of that, we have evaluated the second industrial logistics policy. We propose the vision and objectives of the new industrial logistics policy. The vision is entering the line of industrial logistics developed nations through the sustainable logistics innovation, and the objects are smart & green logistics, win-win collaboration, lead the new logistics trends etc. We also propose the set the system and rules to push promote the new plan. In addition, industrial logistics is the new terminology setting out use by Ministry of Knowledge Economy.

Korea manufacturers(SMEs) try to reduce logistics costs and make its efficiency by out-sourcing to a third party logistics company. It will improving logistics service for customers by reducing logistics management factors and decreasing related logistics. To reduce logistics cost, recently, logistics services have had a great effect on customer satisfaction, particularly, it is necessary to conduct detailed study on the effect on cost. In this study, firstly, we analyze the factor of improvement of logistics service of the third party logistics company based on the questionnaire and analyze quantitatively the effect of cost reduction compared to logistics service improvement through sensitivity analysis for each factor do. The purpose of this study is to clarify the relationship between logistics costs and the increase the logistic service factor.

Purpose - This paper analyzes the effect of the agricultural export market for Korea's new southern countries in consideration of logistics efficiency. In order to expand Korean agricultural exports, the logistics performance index, national income, per capita income, consumer price index, distance and FTA are included. Through empirical analysis, the impact of logistics efficiency on Korean agricultural exports is derived and measures are proposed to expand exports in the future. Design/methodology - The analytical model of this study takes into account the import demand factors of the new southern countries for Korean agricultural exports. A research model was established based on prior research based on the gravity model, which is widely used in international trade effect analysis. In particular, logistics efficiency measures the effect on Korean agricultural exports using the logistics performance index and examines the effect by deriving factors for export expansion. Findings - The main findings of this study can be summarized as follows: The higher the logistics efficiency of the new southern countries in exporting Korean agricultural products, the more directly they have an effect on expanding exports. In addition, it was analyzed that the expansion of Korean agricultural exports has a positive effect on the other countries' national income, per capita income, consumer price index, population, and FTA. Based on these results, the importance of efficient logistics management in agricultural exports has been emphasized. Originality/value - There are not many studies on the export of agricultural products by logistics efficiency. However, prior studies that have adapted to manufacturing and other areas suggest that logistics efficiency has a direct effect on exports. This study suggests that Korean agricultural products are directly effective in exporting to new southern countries in terms of logistics efficiency. This can be an important time point in recognizing that logistics capabilities are important to ensure new books and the safety of agricultural products.

Although there has been growing interests in outsourcing the logistics sectors in the industry, not much research was undertaken to provide the processes and standards in choosing the right 3PL for the company. In this research, we attempt to provide the 3PL selection criteria and its priority orders. We surveyed and interviewed the various industry experts and analyzed results using Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP). The study reveals that manufactures and logistics companies have different understanding of the selection criteria and priorities in outsourcing the 3PL.

Purpose - According to the actual change of the logistics concept, the outsourcing activities of companies are actively progressing, and this is proceeding to third-party logistics and fourth-party logistics. This change in logistics situation raises the need for an in-depth understanding of four-party logistics. Research design, data, and methodology - In this study, first of all, the theoretical aspects of changes in the logistics concept are identified, along with the outsourcing and third-party logistics. Finally, the concept of four-party logistics, the background of its introduction, and future prospects will be explored. Result - The meaning of physical distribution is now passing through the existing three-party logistics and entering the era of four-way logistics. In addition, cost reduction and improvement of customer service through advanced logistics strategy can be said to be the company's competitiveness. Through this study, it can be seen that the conceptual change of logistics and the introduction of four-party logistics are closely related to the survival of the company's deficit in the market. Conclusion - In modern society, logistical competitiveness is the competitiveness of a company, and logistical activities of a company can be achieved through the process of entering the four-party logistics from the existing third-party logistics based on outsourcing. Then more customer-oriented service can be provided.

The concept of e-Business has been around for more than two decades but it has not been used widely enough due to high installation and maintenance cost and complexity. In order to solve such problems, two standardization organizations UN/CEFACT and OASIS have developed an open e-Business standard called ebXML that can be easily adopted by industries. Based on the ebXML, we have developed an e-Logistics integrated platform for industries to do business electronically. The e-Logistics integrated platform was applied to B2B postal logistics industry and efficient interoperability between companies with different systems has been achieved.
