Fabrication of Security System for Preventing an intruder Using a Complex Programmable Logic Device(CPLD) (CPLD를 이용한 침입자 방지용 보안 시스템 제작)

  • A security system consisted of an infrared sensor and PLD(Programmable Logic Device) was fabricated to prevent an intruder. The fabricated system detect the intruder using infrared sensor and has password key pad to permit someone to enter the house and office. The control circuit of the system is designed by VHDL(Very high speed integrated Hardware Description Language). The system was demonstrated in various conditions and the output signals were displayed in LCD, LED, buzzer and so on. This designed system in this paper has a advantage to supplement additional function with ease.

  • This paper presents a new method for the motion detection of vehicles using hierarchical motion estimation and parallel processing. It captures the road image by using a CMOS sensor. It divides the captured image into small blocks and detects the motion of each block by using a block-matching method which is based on a hierarchical motion estimation and parallel processing for the real-time processing. The parallelism is achieved by using tile pipeline and the data flow technique. The proposed method has been implemented by using an embedded system. The proposed block matching algorithm has been implemented on PLDs(Programmable Logic Device) and clustering algorithm has been implemented by ARM processor. Experimental results show that the proposed system detects the motion of vehicles in real-time.

Characteristics of Nanowire CMOS Inverter with Gate Overlap (Gate Overlap에 따른 나노선 CMOS Inverter 특성 연구)

  • In this study, we investigate the influence of an overlap between the gate and source/drain regions of silicon nanowire (SiNW) CMOS (complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor) inverter on bendable plastic substrates and describe their electrical characteristics. The combination of n-channel silicon nanowire field-effect transistor (n-SiNWFET) and p-channel silicon nanowire field-effect transistor (p-SiNWFET) operates as an inverter logic gate. The gains with a drain voltage ($V_{dd}$) of 1 V are 3.07 and 1.21 for overlapped device and non-overlapped device, respectively. The superior electrical characteristics of each of the SiNW transistors including steep subthreshold slopes and the high $I_{on}/I_{off}$ ratios are major factors that enable the excellent operation of the logic gate.

The Results Comparison of Measurement and Simulations in ISL(Integrated Schottky Logic) Gate (ISL 게이트에서 측정과 시뮬레이션의 결과 비교)

  • We analyzed the electrical characteristics of platinum silicide schottky junction to develope the voltage swing in Integrated Schottky Logic gates, and simulated the characteristics with the programs in this junctions. Simulation programs for analytic characteristics are the Medichi tool for device structure, Matlab for modeling and SUPREM V for fabrication process. The silicide junctions consist of PtSi and variable silicon substrate concentrations in ISL gates. Input parameters for simulation characteristics were the same conditions as process steps of the device farications process. The analitic electrical characteristics were the turn-on voltage, saturation current, ideality factor in forward bias, and has shown the results of breakdown voltage between actual characteristics and simulation characteristics in reverse bias. As a result, the forward turn-on voltage, reverse breakdown voltage, barrier height were decreased but saturation current and ideality factor were increased by substrates increased concentration variations.

Anti-fuse program circuits for configuration of the programmable logic device

  • In this paper, we designed the anti-fuse program circuit, and there are an anti-fuse program/sense/latch circuit, a negative voltage generator, power-up circuit and etc. in this circuit. An output voltage of a negative voltage generator is about -4,51V. We detected certainly it regardless of simulation result power rise time or temperature change to detect the anti-fuse program state of an anti-fuse program/sense/latch circuit and were able to know what performed a steady action. And as a result of having done a simulation while will change a resistance value voluntarily in order to check an anti-fuse resistance characteristic of this circuit oneself, it recognized as a programmed anti-fuse until 23k$\Omega$, and we were able to know that this circuit was a lot of margin than general anti-fuse resistance 500$\Omega$. Therefore, the anti-fuse program circuit of this study showed that was able to apply for configuration of the programmable logic device.

  • Recently, the development of passive optical networks (PON) for FTTH (Fiber-To-The-Home) have been actively conducted. In PON, a burst-mode transceiver is one of key modules. In this paper, we have made the protype module of a 155.52 Mpbs optical burst-mode transceiver with commercially available chips and then have measured the performance. Also, a new method of burst-mode clock recovery have been proposed. The burst-mode clock recovery implemented by using CPLD(Complex Programmable Logic Device) has coupled with the above burst-mode transceiver and has been tasted.

  • Mobile device has the same service as PC with the development of mobile technology, such as game, internet, economic service. This paper we play the games in Mobile Device which were popular in Pentium 1 PC, and then develop Avatar Converter by summarizing Automating Elements. In other words, we propose a method that can accelerate developing speed of Mobile Contents by recycling existing resource. The main function of Avatar Converter is that transform existing architecture with dividing logic and resource which can play in mobile by considering restriction items. It can accelerate developing speed by transforming common logic and resource in various contents development for kinds of mobile company.

Design and Performance Evaluation of Tactile Device Using MR Fluid (MR 유체를 이용한 촉감구현장치의 설계 및 성능 평가)

  • This paper proposes a novel type of tactile device utilizing magnetorheological(MR) fluid which can be applicable for haptic master of minimally invasive surgery(MIS) robotic system. The salient feature of the controllability of rheological properties by the intensity of the magnetic field(or current) makes this potential candidate of the tactile device. As a first step, an appropriate size of the tactile device is designed and manufactured via magnetic analysis. Secondly, in order to determine proper input magnetic field the repulsive forces of the real body parts such as hand and neck are measured. Subsequently, the repulsive forces of the tactile device are measured by dividing 5 areas. The final step of this work is to obtain desired force in real implementation. Thus, in order to demonstrate this goal a neuro-fuzzy logic is applied to get the desired repulsive force and the error between the desired and actual force is evaluated.

  • In the previous work, we have proposed an integrate-and-fire neuron circuit and synaptic device based on the floating body MOSFET [1-3]. Integrate-and-Fire(I&F) neuron circuit emulates the biological neuron characteristics such as integration, threshold triggering, output generation, refractory period using floating body MOSFET. The synaptic device has short-term and long-term memory in a single silicon device. In this paper, we connect the neuron circuit and the synaptic device using current mirror circuit for summation of post synaptic pulses. We emulate spike-timing-dependent-plasticity (STDP) characteristics of the synapse using feedback voltage without controller or clock. Using memory device in the logic circuit, we can emulate biological synapse and neuron with a small number of devices.
