Most of LV customer has been composed the 3-phase four wire system distribution system which is supplying simultaneously at the 1-phase & 3-phase load. In this system, the composition of the power apparatus system is simple rather than conventional separation mode of the 1-phase & 3-phase, But due to uneven load unbalance or unclean power quality, various kinds such as derating or power losses become an issue. In this paper, we measured and analyzed voltage and current waveform in the field, compared with internationally allowable voltage unbalance limits.

An inverse method is presented to obtain material's flow properties by using small punch test. This procedure employs, as the objective function of inverse analysis, the balance of measured load-di splacement response and calculated one during deformation. In order to guarantee convergence to global minimum, simulated annealing method was adopted to optimize the current objective function. In addition, artificial neural network was used to predict the load-displacement response under given material parameters which is the most time consuming and limits applications of global optimization methods to these kinds of problems. By implementing the simulated annealing for optimization along with calculating load-displacement curve by neural network, material parameters were identified irrespective of initial values within very short time for simulated test data. We also tested the present method for error-containing experimental data and showed that the flow properties of material were well predicted.
The automatic load transfer switch (ALTS) typically automatically transfers electrical loads from a normal electrical power source to an emergency electrical power source upon reduction or loss of normal power source voltage. It can also automatically re-transfer the load to the normal power source when the normal voltage has been restored within acceptable limits. The transfer operation of ALTS is accomplished by a spring-driven linkage mechanism. In this paper we build a dynamic model of driving mechanism for ALTS using ADAMS and checked the characteristics of the transfer operation. Finally we performed a detailed design of the driving mechanism through results of analysis and confirmed it to satisfy design requirements.
A new algorithm is suggested to solve the optimal reactive power control(optimal VAR control) problem. An efficient computer program based on the latest achievements in the sparse matrix/vector techniques has been developed for this purpose. The model minimizes the real power losses in the system. The constraints include the reactive power limits of the generators, limits on the bus voltages and the operating limits of control variables- the transformer tap positions, generator terminal voltages and switchable reactive power sources. The method developed herein employs linearized sensitivity relationships of power systems to establish both the objective function for minimizing the system losses and the system performance sensitivities relating dependent and control variables. The algorithm consists of two modules, i.e. the Q-V module for reactive power-voltage control, Load flow module for computational error adjustments. In particular, the acceleration factor technique is introduced to enhance the convergence property in Q-module, The combined use of the afore-mentioned two modules ensures more effective and efficient solutions for optimal reactive power dispatch problems. Results of the application of the method to the sample system and other worst-case system demonstrated that the algorithm suggested herein is compared favourably with conventional ones in terms of computation accuracy and convergence characteristics.

The compressibility of clay has been expressed e-log p' graph. In natural clay, e-log p' graph are changed by deposition condition and chemical cementation as well as Atterberg limits, whereas in reconstituted clay, it is generally known that e-log p’ curve is varied with Atterberg limits. However, e-log p' graph is possible to change according to the reconstituting methods and test conditions. In this study, consolidation tests are performed as various test condition for reconstituted Busan clay. Test results show that the relationship e/$e_L$ and log p' is almost constant with $e_L$. And the compression index obtained from slurry method sample is larger than one obtained from kneading method sample. Intrinsic compression line (ICL) of Busan clay is identical with ICL suggested by Burland.

The power transfer capability is determined by the thermal, dynamic stability and voltage limits of the generation and transmission systems. The voltage stability depends on the reactive power limit and it affects the power transfer capability to a great extent. Then, in most load flow analysis, the reactive power limit is assumed as fixed, relatively different from the actual case. This paper proposes a method for determining the power transfer capability from a static voltage stability point of view using the IPLAN which is a high level language used with PSS/E program. The f-V curve for determining the power transfer capability is determined using Repeated Power Flow method. It Is assumed that the loads are constant and the generation powers change according to the merit order. The maximum reactive power limits are considered as varying similarly with the actual case and the effects of the varied maximum reactive power limits to the maximum power transfer capability are analyzed using a 5-bus power system and a 19-bus practical power system.
Many existing reinforced concrete (RC) structures need to be strengthening for reason such as poor construction quality, low ductility or designing without considering seismic effects. One of the strengthening methods is strengthening technique with eccentrically braced frames (EBFs). The characteristic element of these systems is the link element and its length is very important in terms of seismic behavior. The link element of Y shaped EBF systems (YEBFs) is designed as a short shear element. Different limits are suggested in the literature for the link length. This study to aim experimentally investigate the effect of the link length for the suggested limits on the behavior of the RC frame system and efficiency of strengthening technique. For this purpose, a total of 5 single story, single span RC frame specimens were produced. The design of the RC frames was made considering seismic design deficiencies. Four of the produced specimens were strengthened and one of them remained as bare specimen. The steel YEBFs were used in strengthening the RC frame and the link was designed as a shear element that have different length with respect to suggested limits in literature. The length of links was determined as 50mm, 100mm, 150mm and 200mm. All of the specimens were tested under cyclic loads. The obtained results show that the strengthening technique improved the energy consumption and lateral load bearing capacities of the bare RC specimen. Moreover, it is concluded that the specimens YB-2 and YB-3 showed better performance than the other specimens, especially in energy consumption and ductility.

Most of the electric power in the power system of South Korea is flowing from the south area to the north area, Seoul, in the capital of South Korea. Almost of the needs of the electric power in the capital area are about 43% of the total loads and generation plants are mainly located in the south area of South Korea. As mentioned the earlier characteristic, transmission congestion is one of the important research issues. Because of the limits of the power flows from the south to the north which are anticipated to be increased more and more in the future, these congestion situations may cause a serious voltage stability problem in emergency of the power system. Accordingly, we are interested in an interruptible load control program so as to solve this problem in emergency. This problem can be solved by an interruptible load management in emergency, however, the systematic and effective mechanism has not been presented yet. In this paper, the algorithm of interruptible load management plan using the line sensitivity to the loads for the transmission congestion management in emergency is presented. The proposed method is applied to 6-Bus sample system and their results are presented.
There are constraints on truck weight, axle configurations and size imposed by departments of transportation around the globe due to structural capacity limitations of highway pavements and bridges. In spite of that, freight movers demand some vehicles that surpass the maximum size and legal weight limits to use the transportation network. Oversized trucks serve the purpose of spreading the load on the bridge; thus, reducing the load effect on the superstructure. For such vehicles, often a quick structural analysis of the existing bridges along the traveled route is needed to ensure that the structural capacity is not exceeded. For a wide vehicle having wheel gage larger than the standard 1830 mm, the girder distribution factors in the design specifications cannot be directly used to estimate the live load in the supporting girders. In this study, a simple approach that is based on finite element analysis is developed by modifying the AASHTO LRFD's girder distribution factors for slab-on-steel-girder bridges to overcome this problem. The proposed factors allow for determining the oversized vehicle bending moment and shear force effect in the individual girders as a function of the gage width characteristics. Findings of the study showed that the relationship between the girder distribution factor and gage width is more nonlinear in shear than in flexure. The proposed factors yield reasonable results compared with the finite element analysis with adequate level of conservatism.
