  • Lithium ion battery is required to balance cells in order to minimize the electric capacity difference between the batteries. This paper proposes a cell balancing method by using inductor. Simulation and experimental results are presented.

  • In this paper, we propose a rapid-charging system for the lithium-ion battery (LIB) packs used in electric forklifts. The battery offers three benefits: reduced charge time, prolonged battery life, and increased charging efficiency. A rapid-charging algorithm and DC/DC converter topology are proposed to achieve these benefits. This algorithm is developed using an electrochemical model, which controls the maximum charging current limit depending on the cell voltage and temperature. The experimental use of a selected 18650 LIB cell verified the prolongation of battery life on use of the algorithm. The proposed converter offers the same topological merits as a conventional resonant converter but solves the light-load regulation problem of conventional resonant converters by adopting pulse-width modulation. A 6.6-kW converter and charging algorithm were used with a forklift battery pack to verify this method's operational principles and advantages.

  • Energy storage system connected to the grid has two functions such as the surplus power of a grid is stored in batteries or the energy stored in batteries will supply to the grid when the grid needs. The battery energy storage system consist of power condition system (PCS) for power supply and battery conditioning system (BCS). Lithium-ion batteries are mainly used. In this paper, the battery energy storage system connected to the grid described. The configuration of the 2MVA class power control system using water cooling and battery system are presented. And control method for the system and the output filter design method are proposed. Experimental verification of the proposed system is provided with 2MVA PCS and 500kWh BCS.

리튬 이차 전지의 전기화학 모델링과 전기적 실험 기반 상태 추정 (State of Health estimation based on Secondary Li-ion battery Electrochemical Modeling and Electrical experiment)

  • 본 논문은 리튬 이온 이차 전지의 전기적 실험 및 전기화학적 모델링을 통한 배터리 수명 상태(SOH)의 추정 방법을 다룬다. 배터리 전기적 노화 실험을 통하여 실제 배터리 수명 상태를 확인하기 위하여 전류 적산법을 사용한다. 전기적 실험에서 도출한 내부저항 값을 사용하여 SOH를 추정하며, 전기화학 모델링에서 사이클 수의 증가에 따른 SEI Layer의 변화를 통해 SOH를 추정한다. 실제 배터리 수명 상태를 포함한 세 가지 방법의 SOH 추정 방법에 가중치를 적용하여 새로운 SOH를 도출하며, 이는 전류적산법을 사용하여 구한 실제 값과의 오차를 줄여주어 추정 성능을 높인다.

  • The Lithium ion secondary battery has been developed for high energy density of portable electrical device and electronics. Among the many conductive polymer materials, the positive active film for Li polymer battery system was synthesized successfully from polyphenylene diamine(PPD) by chemical polymerization in our lab. And PPD-DMcT(2, 5-dimercapto-1, 3, 4-thi-adiazole) composite flim conductive material, at high temperature was also prerared with the addition of dimethylsulfoxide(DMSO). The surface morphology and thermal stability of prepared composite flim was carried out by using SEM and TGA, respectively. Electrochemical and electrical conductivity of composite flim were also discussed by cyclic voltammetry and four-probe method in dry box(<27pm). And the electrode reaction mechanism was detected and analyzed from the half cell unit battery system.

  • The electrochemical properties of flyash obtained from combustion of fuel in fossil power plants and their performance as anode material of secondary battery have been investigated Various flysh pellets molded at various molding pressure have been used as anode lithium secondary battery. The best Performance was achieved when flyash pellet molded at pressure of 400kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ is utilized, that is, charge capacity of 300kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and Coulombic efficiency of larger than 95% have been achieved. In addition, this battery exhibited good cycling performance. Considering these results, we predicted that utilization of the flyash as anode material and polyaniline conducting polymer as cathode material in a secondary will show capacity of 300mAh/g and Coulombic efficiency of higher than 95%.

The effect of pore structure and surface properties of carbon nanotube films on the performance of a lithium sulfur battery

  • We fabricated a Li-S battery with post-treated carbon nanotube (CNT) films which offered better support for sulfur, and investigated the effect of the surface properties and pore structure of the post-treated CNT films on Li-S battery performance. Post-treatments, i.e., acid treatment, unzip process and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) treatment, effectively modified the surface properties and pore structure of the CNT film. The modified pore structure impacted the ability of the CNT films to accommodate the catholyte, resulting in an increase in initial discharge capacity.

  • The relationship of widely used Open circuit Voltage (OCV) versus State of Charge (SOC) is critical for any reliable SOC estimation technique. However, the hysteresis existing in all type of battery which has been come to the market leads this relationship to a complicated one, especially in Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) battery. An accurate model for hysteresis phenomenon is essential for a reliable SOC identification. This paper aims to investigate and propose a method for hysteresis modeling. The SOC estimation is done by using Extended Kalman Filter (EKF), the parameter of the battery is modeled by Auto Regressive Exogenous (ARX) and estimated by using Recursive Least Square (RLS) filter to tract each element of the parameter of the model.

  • 혼합 호산성 박테리아를 이용하여 리튬이온 밧데리 산업 폐기물로부터 코발트와 리튬의 침출을 연구하였다. 혼합 호산성 박테리아의 성장기질은 단체 황 및 2가 철이온으로 구성되어 있으며 미생물에 의한 금속의 침출은 폐기물에 존재하는 금속과 황산이온의 양자 반응 때문에 일어난다. 본 연구에서 12일간 미생물 침출반응시 고상 폐기물중 코발트의 80%, 리튬의 20%가 용해되었으며 고액비가 높을수록 금속의 독성으로 인하여 미생물의 성장은 억제된다. 단체 황의 농도가 높을 조건에서는 일부 황 분말이 용해되지 않으며 금속의 침출속도는 황의 증가에 따라 감소한다.
